Consuming Coconut During Pregnancy
Coconuts are used traditionally in cooking in most tropical countries. Much hype has been generated on the benefits and risks involved in externally using and consuming coconut milk, coconut oil, and coconut during pregnancy.
Amazing Health Benefits of Eating Coconut During Pregnancy
Each human being's physical conditions are different. Especially during pregnancy, one needs to eat right. The baby gets nourished depending on what the mother eats. Let's look at the benefits of using coconut during pregnancy.
Coconut is rich in dietary fibre, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, minerals, hormones, enzymes etc. Eaten moderately, tender coconuts work to prevent anaemia, urinary tract infections, morning sickness, and swelling in the feet due to poor blood circulation.
The fats in coconuts are medium-chain triglycerides and are said to help to burn off stored fat in the body. Hence, coconut milk during pregnancy acts as an excellent source of good fat, promoting the growth of a healthy baby and increasing volume of urine and breast milk.
Coconut oil is obtained from the coconut using a cold-press. Since there is no heating, bleaching, deodorising etc. involved, it is called virgin coconut oil.
It is used for cooking, skincare, and lubrication, among other things.
Using coconut oil in pregnancy helps maintain skin elasticity, and prevents belly scarring and itching due to pregnancy. It contains good amounts of Vitamin E and lauric acid, making it the secret recipe for being beautiful throughout and after pregnancy.
Coconut water is 94% water and fairly low in calories. Drinking coconut water during pregnancy keeps the blood volume regulated, prevents dehydration, tiredness, and nausea, and is very easily digestible and absorbed by the blood.
Tender coconut works as a laxative and prevents constipation.
It seems to be a good source of Vitamin B, Potassium, electrolytes, amino acids, plant hormones, and enzymes. It is an antioxidant and is claimed to improve immunity to bacterial infections.
Skin-tone and elasticity are improved and any itchiness in the skin in taken care of.
It helps with belly distention, heartburn, and anaemia because of the presence of absorbable iron in it. Anaemia in pregnant women is very common and can have disastrous results for both mother and child.
Coconut water contains lauric acid, which helps increase the breast milk volume and maintain elasticity in the breasts.
Complications Associated With Consuming Coconut When Pregnant
The use of small amounts of coconut consumed will provide for the growing baby’s health. However, there may be certain complications that you need to consider.
Prolonged usage of a coconut-rich diet may lead to complications like dyslipidemia in obese women, which causes the cholesterol level to rise.
Some people could be allergic to pollen and plants from the Arecaceae or Coconut family.
Myths About Coconut Water During Pregnancy
1. Myth: Coconut water makes the baby fairer
Fact: The baby’s skin colour depends on genetic factors only and cannot be altered by the consumption of coconut water or any other food.
2. Myth: Coconut water makes the baby’s hair grow thicker and stronger
Fact: Baby’s hair strength and texture depend on genes and health. Drinking coconut water during pregnancy will not show any impact on the baby’s hair growth.
3. Myth: Coconut water causes acidity
Fact: Coconut water does not cause acidity during pregnancy. Any acidity that you experience is due to the expansion of the belly, which interferes with the digestion process.
Eating coconuts and tender coconut during pregnancy is safe and highly recommended in moderate quantities. Coconut water should be used in moderation and not as a substitute for water, during pregnancy. Discuss the amount you consume and check with your doctor if there are any contraindications.

World Toilet Day 2021 - History, Significance, and Facts
Do you know that 40% of the world’s population, i.e. 4.2 billion people, do not have access to proper sanitation facilities? Yes, you read it right! Even though we humans have achieved a significant milestone in technology, agriculture, space research, and bioscience, we still haven’t crossed one hurdle of hygiene and sanitization. Poor sanitation increases the risk of diseases and malnutrition, primarily in women and children. To shed light on the great importance of toilets and hygiene, the United Nations had established World Toilet Day in 2013.
What Is World Toilet Day?
World Toilet Day is dedicated to raising awareness of sanitation and health crisis across the globe. The United Nations Water, along with the governments across the world, focus on building sustainable initiatives that will tackle climate change and global sanitation plight. Global communities, big and small, profit and non-profit, have come up with thousands of innovations that have the potential of wiping out this crisis in the coming years.
By 2030 Sustainable Development goals, the United Nations hopes that it will ensure the availability and management of proper sanitation facilities and water in all countries.
When It Is Observed
The United Nations General Assembly has declared November 19 as World Toilet Day. World Toilet Day date is a reminder about the people who live in severe poverty and poor sanitation circumstances.
History of World Toilet Day
A dedicated philanthropist from Singapore, Jack Sim, established the World Sanitation Organization on November 19, 2001, to stress sanitation systems, processes and public awareness. Later, this day was renamed World Toilet Day by the United Nations to ease public understanding since toilets are considered the first and foremost subject of sanitation.
Soon after, the WTO started to raise awareness globally and established World Toilet Day as a global health crisis. Following active support for this day by many institutions, the United Nations declared the right to sanitation and water a human right.
In 2013, the Government of Singapore and the World Toilet Organisation participated in a joint initiative, and the UN’s first resolution was passed - Sanitation for All, to diminish the sanitation crisis around the world. The resolution was adopted by around 122 countries at the UN General Assembly held in New York.
Another resolution passed by the United Nations Secretary Ban Ki-Moon, named Call to Action on Sanitation, aims to end open defecation by 2025.
The Importance of World Toilet Day
Did you know that Diarrhea is the second leading disease causing the death of children below the age of five? The fact that this disease is entirely preventable with access to clean water and basic sanitation facilities is a reminder of the milestone we still haven’t achieved. India, the second-largest populated country, tops the chart of having the worst sanitation facilities in the world.
Why do we need the World Toilet Day celebration? Here are the following reasons:
1. Raise Awareness
World Toilet Day needs to be celebrated in every country as it is a subject many people consider inappropriate to discuss. With a massive leap in technological advancements, we need to broaden our mindsets and welcome this day. Posting awareness on social media platforms, at public places, and educational and work institutions is necessary.
2. Climate Crisis
Since climate crisis is another emergency we are facing today, it is imperative that we focus on innovations that are not just solutions, but sustainable solutions. Sanitation and water go hand in hand. We have to create such solutions that reduce the sanitation problem and sustainably manage procurement and wastage management of water for all.
3. Urgency
The sanitation crisis is increasing at an alarming rate, which cannot be ignored anymore. Every year around 3 million children die of poor sanitation facilities and exposed water. This leads to a decline in the GDPs of poorer countries, due to which poor countries remain in a vicious circle of poverty and hygiene.
How One Can Observe World Toilet Day
The official convener of World Toilet Day, UN-Water, choose a new theme every year for this day. ‘Leaving no one behind’ was the official theme of World Toilet Day for 2019. Prior to 2019, other themes included ‘toilets and nutrition’, ‘wastewater’, ‘nature-based solutions’, etc. This year’s theme is ‘valuing toilets’.
There are many ways you can observe International Toilet Day with friends, classmates, and teachers. Several educational institutions and companies, and public places also celebrate this day.
1. Gain knowledge
The first and foremost thing to do is gather knowledge of the crisis, historical circumstances, and current statistics. You can start by learning about the history of toilets, from ancient Greeks and Romans to brilliant Indus valley civilizations. Then, you can do some research on the current sanitation situation in your home country and compare it with global richer and poorer countries. This comparison will give a clear picture of your country’s improved sanitation situation.
2. Visit museums and institutions dedicated to the subject of awareness
Do you know that there is a museum in the capital city of India, Delhi, dedicated entirely to toilets? The Sulabh International Museum of Delhi by an India-based NGO Sulabh International displays various kinds of toilets from 2500 BC to the modern date. The museum is constructed to promote the awareness of proper sanitation across the country and shed light on the global history of toilets and sanitation.
3. Improvise it
As it is rightly said that the change starts from within. To perfectly understand the crisis at hand, we need to start the change with ourselves first. You can start by posting a picture of your clean toilet to raise awareness of sanitation and World Toilet Day. Benefit from the power of hashtags and spread your message on social media platforms.
4. Time to take action
Educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, participate in every way to raise awareness. As a responsible citizen, you can take part in events and competitions like slogan making, poster making, wall art, etc. Several theatre groups create plays that boost public awareness. Suppose you want to collaborate and make changes globally. In that case, you can visit the official website of World Toilet Day, partake in international events, and connect to people globally who are fighting for the same cause.
How to Toilet Train Your Child
Toilet training is an essential part of parenting during the development of kids. Some kids learn to use toilets early, while some take time, which can be frustrating for parents.
We have some simple guidelines that can make potty training stress-free.
Plan a routine
Start the training when your child is old enough to sit. You don’t have to rush things. You can set them on the toilet after their meal and play with them until they do their business.
Look out for physical and facial signs
Children tend to show signs and make facial gestures that indicate that they are going to do their business.
The right equipment
Buying the right equipment, like a potty or a toilet training seat for your child is important. They should neither be small or big, but a right fit.
Communication
As your child starts to talk, you need to teach them the words associated with the toilet. Use hand gestures, bright facial expressions, and praises to teach them. Ask them now and then whether they want to visit the washroom or not.
Advanced skills
Now that your toddler can sit, walk, and talk, teach them some actions like how to pull down and pull up their underwear when they want to visit the toilet. Also, teach them about the regular use of flush and hand wash every time after using the bathroom.
Good Toilet Habits for Kids
Children are at a learning stage when toilet training. Since they are only learning new words and things, don’t hurry. They will learn at their pace.
Teach them the rules of toilet training when they are playing.
Practice hand-washing with them after very toilet use. Children learn by copying their parents. So, if you follow hygiene habits, they too will follow the same.
Teach them how to sit properly.
Clean the toilet facilities after every use.
World Toilet Day Facts
Around 297,000 children (more than 800 every day) under the age of five die yearly from diarrhoeal diseases because of poor hygiene, unsafe drinking water, and poor sanitation.
40% of the global population lives without basic hand-washing facilities like soap and water available at home.
Globally, 80% of the wastewater generated by human consumption flows back into the natural ecosystem without being treated or reused.
By 2050, there will be a crisis of water that up to 5.7 billion people could be residing in areas where water is scarce for at least one month a year.
For every dollar spent on water and sanitation, there is a $4.30 return in the form of lessened health care costs around the world.
People across the globe have access to more mobile phones than toilets.
Toilets have added up to twenty years to the human lifespan over the past 200 years.
Strong Quotes for World Toilet Day

How to Use Jumper Cables to Jump-start a Car
Getting stranded in the middle of nowhere due to a car that does not turn on is the stuff of nightmares none of us wants to experience. But, it often happens that we leave our car's headlights or inner lights on by mistake and find the battery completely drained the following day! In such situations, jump-starting can help you solve this problem.
Jump-starting your car's battery yourself would indeed require a little bit of knowledge and some special tools to perform the activity. So, if you have found yourself wondering, "how do you connect jumper cables," we are here to help! Stay prepared for such emergencies and learn how to use jumper cables to start a dead vehicle from us.
What Are Jumper Cables Used For?
Jumper cables, also called booster cables, are insulated wires of a standard capacity with alligator clips at both ends. These interconnect the disabled equipment or a dead vehicle with an ancillary source. These cables come in pairs that can be connected to a car battery and another energy source. These energy sources can be any vehicle or batteries with the same voltage as the car needing the jump-start.
Steps to Jump-start Your Car?
Your car battery can die for many reasons, such as cold weather, an old dysfunctional battery, or accidentally draining the battery juice. The best way to start your car in this situation is by jump-starting it with the help of jumper cables. Before beginning the process, take some time to read your vehicle's manual, especially the section related to jump-start or anything related to the car battery. This is crucial for becoming aware of any precautions or specifications of the battery in your car that may interfere with the jump-starting process. If there are no specific instructions or precautions mentioned in the manual, follow the below steps to jump-start your vehicle.
What You Will Need
There are only three things you need to jump-start a car.
A Car With A Dead Battery: The first and foremost thing you need is a car with a dead battery. Your car battery can die due to many reasons like malfunctioning alternator, extreme cold temperature, or battery corrosion.
A Car With A Good Battery Or A Power Source: The second most important thing you need is another car with good battery life or another power source.
Jumper Cables: The third thing you will require is a jumper cable connected to both cars to jump-start the dead vehicle.
Instructions in Steps
Jump-starting a car is not that tough as it might look. But if you have never done it before, we will guide you on setting up jumper cables step-by-step.
Park both cars facing each other. If it is impossible, position them close but not touching each other. You can leave a gap of 18 inches between both vehicles.
Turn off the ignition of both cars. Put both the vehicles on parking or neutral mode, and put the brakes on to prevent the possibility of either vehicle rolling away.
Open the bonnet of both the cars and find their batteries.
The next step is to locate the negative and positive terminals of the batteries. A ( ) sign will be marked on the positive terminal and (-) on the negative terminal.
Take the red (positive) clamp from one end of the jumper cable and connect it to the positive ( ) terminal of the other working battery.
Connect the red (positive) clamp from the other end of the jumper cable to the positive terminal on the dead car's battery.
Then connect the black (negative) clamp from the same end of the jumper cable to the negative (-) terminal on your working battery.
Then use the black negative clamp of the jumper cable, which is connected to the red positive clamp to the dead car's battery, and connect them to the car's bolt. Make sure that you don't connect it to the dead battery as it can spark.
Recheck all the connections and start the engine of the car with a good battery. Let the car run for a few minutes and connect to the vehicle with a dead battery.
Next, try and turn on the engine of the dead battery car.
If your car starts, you can disconnect the jumper cables, and you are good to go.
After this is done, you also need to know how to take off jumper cables safely. Firstly, remove the negative cable from the repaired car. Then remove the negative cable from the good battery car. Then remove the positive cable from the car having a good battery and lastly, positive cable with the dead battery (now jumped)
The first and foremost thing you should do after jump-staring your car is to take your vehicle to the mechanic and get the battery checked and replaced if required.
FAQs
1. How Should I Connect Jumper Cables Correctly?
You have to be very careful while connecting the jumper cables correctly. Make sure both of the vehicles are turned off. After that, locate the batteries of the cars. Next, connect the red clamp of the jumper cable to the positive terminal signed ( ) of the dead car's battery and then connect the other end of the same red jumper cable to the positive terminal of the working car's battery. After that, connect the black clamp marked (-) with the negative terminal of the donor power source. Then please attach the black connector at the end of the cables to a metal part of the car's engine with the dead battery. When all the wires are connected, start the engine of the working car. Run the car for some time and then try to start the dead car. However, be very careful, or else you can electrocute yourself.
2. Do I Need to Turn Off Car Before Disconnecting The Jumper Cables?
The answer to the above question is yes. Do not touch the cables of the running car. You should strictly switch off both the car and the power source before disconnecting the jumper cables. If you don't do that, you will electrocute either yourself or your entire car.
3. Why do I Need Heavy Duty Jumper Cables?
With the help of a heavy-duty jumper cable, you will be able to pass through more electricity as they are thicker and have a heavy gauge. If you have a heavy-duty vehicle to jump-start, your vehicle will require more electricity as the battery is more serious compared to regular cars or vehicles. So, to help start these heavy vehicles, you will need heavy-duty jumper cables with suitable clamps. Also, in the worst conditions, like extreme cold weather and your battery is entirely drained, these heavy-duty wires will be of good help.
4. How to Clean a Car Battery?
Firstly you need to turn off the engine of your vehicle. There is a slight risk of injury if you clean the battery with the engine turned on. So, to avoid such things, it's better to turn the engine off. Then lose the nut, which is holding your negative cable. Detach the cable from its post and follow the same steps with the positive cable as well. After that, visually inspect your car's battery and the clamps. If you see any wear and tear, you will have to take it to the mechanic. After that, make a cleaning solution using one tablespoon of baking soda into one cup of water. With the help of a toothbrush, scrub away any signs of corrosion you see on the battery. Spray cold water on the battery to rinse off the residue. Then towards the end, with the help of any old towel, dab the battery and clamps to dry them completely. Use a little bit of petroleum jelly to lubricate your terminals. Lastly, put on jumper cables by connecting them to their correct terminals. This is the essential guide to clean the car battery. But if you are on the go and something like this happens to your car battery, use a bottle of Coca-Cola or Pepsi and pour it over the terminals, let it sit for five minutes and then wash it with cold water.
5. How to Prevent Your Battery From Dying?
Eventually, every battery is going to die out. But you can follow some steps to prolong its life for as long as possible. Always make sure you make regular battery test parts of your routine maintenance. Whenever you take your car to workshops for an oil change or any other issue, make sure you get your batteries life checked. Always protect your battery from extreme weather. If possible, think about an insulated blanket to keep the batteries safe. If you are going out of town for a month or so, ask your friend to come and rev it up, start the engine and take around so that the batteries stays charged up. And most significantly, double-check that you haven't left any light or appliance of your car switched on. They can heavily impact your car's battery life.
Although the process of jump-starting a car is not that tough, remembering which cable to put where can be pretty cumbersome. So, now that you know how to apply jumper cables to jump-start a car quite well, you will not be stranded due to a dead battery as long as another car is around!

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. But it is really very difficult to say anything without proper examination. It is advisable to get yourself evaluated by a doctor and follow doctors advise properly. You can also book online doctor’s appointment on FirstCry where the doctor can help you and guide you properly.
Thanks and take care
