Get Rid of Wrinkles in 6 Easy Steps
Do you dread the onset of wrinkles and fine lines that threaten to spoil your youthful looks? Some easy to implement lifestyle changes can come to your rescue. These natural ways to remove wrinkles can get your skin looking great in no time!
Who doesn't want supple, wrinkle-free skin? But rather than resort to miracle age creams to lighten the lines on your face, why not look for natural ways to get rid of wrinkles? These time-tested tips are safer and do the job just as well or even better!
How to Reduce Wrinkles from Your Face Naturally
1. Beware of the sun
The sun may be a life-giving force but it doesn't love your skin. One of the best ways to reduce wrinkles is to be careful when you step out. Try not to go out in the middle of the day when the sun is at its hottest. However, whether the skies are clear or gloomy, protect your skin with a good sunscreen, umbrella and hat. Cover your eyes with UV-resistant sunglasses to reduce wrinkles under the eyes.
2. Quit smoking
If you smoke, be prepared to see wrinkles sooner rather than later. One of the best ways to prevent wrinkles (and other dangerous diseases!) is to stay away from cigarettes. The enzymes produced by cigarettes break down the elastin and collagen in your skin - proteins responsible for giving skin its suppleness.
3. Get your beauty sleep
Are you sleeping enough? If you’re a mom with young kids, probably not! Lack of sleep can trigger your body to produce too much cortisol - a hormone that breaks down cells. This makes your skin inelastic and you slowly develop wrinkles. Another tip to reduce wrinkles is to sleep on your back. Sleeping on your side or face down can cause lines on your cheeks and chin.
4. Hydrate yourself
An easy tip to prevent wrinkles is to drink at least two to three litres of water in a day. Water is a miracle ingredient that works wonders for your skin by flushing out toxins. Make sure you drink enough water and fluids like coconut water and green tea to keep your skin hydrated and young.
5. Eat right
Guess who's the star among home remedies to reduce wrinkles? A nutritious diet with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables! These are rich in useful antioxidants. You must also avoid junk and oily foods as your skin hates them. For cooking, consider switching to pro-skin olive oil.
6. Exercise
Regular exercise not only keeps your body toned and healthy, but also increases blood circulation and in turn, oxygen supply to your skin. This keeps your skin looking youthful. Why not try some facial exercises to reduce wrinkles? Slowly turn your head from side to side and tilt it from one shoulder to another. Or roll your eyes up, hold for a few seconds, roll them down, hold and repeat.
Daily exposure to stress, pollution and, of course, natural ageing, causes wrinkles in women. But these natural remedies will ensure you aren't an early victim. If your husband too has been wondering how to avoid wrinkles, pool him in and embark on a journey to youthful skin together! Read more

Singing With Your 22 Months Old
Just like adults, toddlers too love to listen to good music. You can even catch them jiggling to their favorite songs. However, getting them to sing can be a totally different feat. Looking for the best songs to sing to toddlers is one way to make them croon.
Music has healing and soothing powers. No wonder your little one is easily soothed when you hum a tune to him. Now that he’s growing up, he’s probably enjoying listening to music and moving to his favourite tunes. Wouldn’t it be just wonderful if you could get him to sing too?
How to Sing with Toddlers: Initiating the Love of Singing
1. Pick the Right Mood
When it comes to singing with your little one, any time is perfect. It could be while you give him a bath or dress him up for bed. You can even designate a time for crooning lessons. However, make sure that he’s in a good mood. If your toddler refuses to listen to a song, you can't get him to sing with you. Don't compel him if he’s hungry or tired.
2. Select the Right Song
Picking an appropriate song is also important when introducing singing for toddlers. Pick any that catches your child’s fancy. You can start off with one that soothes him. It doesn't matter if it’s a song made up by you; if your tot loves it, it’s good enough.
3. Sit Right
For toddlers, music is not only about the lyrics and the tune. It’s also about expressions and actions. While introducing your toddler to music, sit down facing him. It will allow him to look at you and gauge your expressions and actions as you sing.
4. Go Slow
Don't expect your child to be a pro at singing from the word ‘go’. He’ll take time to understand and learn the words and imitate your actions. One of the best tips for singing with your toddler is to do so at a slow pace and let him fall in line with your crooning.
5. Repeat the Song
You might have to sing a song many times before your child starts associating it with the words and actions. Be patient and repeat it as often as possible. He’ll soon chime and sing along.
6. Take Important Pauses
Once your little one has learnt some of the catchier lines in a song, pause when you reach these lines while singing the song for your toddler. It will encourage him to fill in the words. Don't forget to applaud your child. Children need the encouragement.
7. Bring in Some Effects
When singing with your toddler, ask him to add in some beats by banging on the table or a plate. Show him how it’s done. It will add a fun element to the whole exercise and make him look forward to these sessions even more.
Singing to your toddler and having him sing along is a great way to bond and spend quality time together. Who knows? You could be training a future singing sensation in the process! Read more

Indian Confinement Practices after Childbirth
Delivering a healthy child successfully is quite an achievement for the mother as well as the child. The entire process of delivery takes a toll on both the mother and the child since it is extremely taxing on their bodies. At this stage, the mother is quite vulnerable since her immune system is at its weakest, with all the energy focused on delivering the child. The baby, on the other hand, is at even higher risk since he is just experiencing this world and all the new aspects of life for the very first time. Keeping them in a safe environment is absolutely important.
What Is Postpartum Confinement?
Postpartum confinement takes into account all of these necessary aspects following the delivery and keeps the mother and the child in a space that is beneficial for both of them. Postpartum confinement can be only initiated if there is a support system of family and relatives to help them out. The confinement aspect comes into play where the mother is advised to stay within the confines of the home until she recovers her health and is hale and hearty. The family members take care of numerous activities and provide all the support the mother needs to take care of the baby.
How Long Is The Confinement Period after Giving Birth?
The confinement period is generally dependent on how well the mother and baby cope up with the recovery process. At times, a caesarean delivery could extend the days for quite a bit. This can further extend if either of the two has faced complications during birth and need some more time to recover to normal. On a general basis, a period of around 40 days is generally considered normal, to allow enough time for a mother to take care of herself.
In some areas, mothers don’t tend to believe in a specific confinement period as such and will resume their normal lives the moment they feel fine. This is generally the case with a lot of working mothers as well, if the leave isn’t sufficient or they feel the need to get back to work as soon as possible.
What Are Post Delivery Confinement Practices Followed in India?
The traditional practices for mothers vary from region to region across the country. On a general basis, the focus is placed on physical recovery and regaining the lost strength for both the mother and the child, adhering to a special diet that helps with the same and stimulates lactation, while sticking to certain precautions to avoid any undue stress on the body.
Postpartum Massage
The mother’s body has gone through quite an extensive period and it needs all the help it can get to become healthy all over again.
Most households tend to hire either a traditional massage person well-known among the family members or a professional massage therapist who is used to the techniques needed in postpartum massage.
A proper full-body massage for a woman is recommended, by using some healthy oils and warm water. All of these help stimulate blood circulation within the body, whereas the external force of the massage helps with the belly and any stretch marks of the body.
The focus is generally on the back, waist and hip regions of the body. These are the main ones that have undergone a huge metamorphosis and a lot of stress during pregnancy and the delivery.
For women who have undergone caesarean delivery, a full body massage might not be ideal and certain extra precautions might be advised by the doctor in this regard.
Baby Massage
Along with the mother, the baby himself requires massage as well. This is essential since this is the first time he is outside the womb and his body needs to start developing the strength required to survive in the world.
While mothers can start massaging their babies after delivery, some of them usually opt to do so once they feel better by themselves. Until then, there are local midwives or some family person who can take over the massage duties for the baby.
The massage generally focuses on building the strength in the child’s muscles and keeping his bones healthy. Using the necessary baby oils to infuse that strength can be quite relaxing for your child and put him to sleep as well.
Baby massage needs to be a daily activity for a long period while giving him his bath. Your baby might end up crying while he is getting a massage and, although that is usually observed, do take care that your baby is handled in a gentle manner.
Traditional midwives have an age-old technique of massaging babies that can seem quite rigorous at times. Most of them are well experienced, however, there have been cases of babies suffering from physical problems as a result of intense massaging.
Indian Confinement Diet
The diet for a mother recovering from her delivery has to be nutritious without a doubt. There are certain food items that are mandatorily included in the diet to help the mother with her new phase of motherhood as well.
Fennel seeds, as well as cumin seeds, are known to be very beneficial in the postpartum phase. Eating a few fennel seeds takes care of the digestive process, provides the necessary strength to the immunity system as well as works in improving lactation. Drinking cumin water two times in a day also helps on similar lines and keeps infections at bay.
One of the simplest foods for a mother in the postpartum stage is generally khichdi. This is easy to eat as well as simple to digest since it is prepared with a partially solid consistency, and includes numerous vegetables that provide the necessary nutrition.
As with pregnancy, the baby is dependent on the mother for nutrition via the breastmilk. Therefore, the diet needs to contain enough vegetables, especially green and leafy ones, which supply the nutrients to the baby via the milk.
Staying hydrated is also important at this time. Liquids are required in a larger proportion since a lot of water is used to produce the milk. Along with it, drinking hot milk and soups can be quite soothing to the mother, as well as occasional sips of coconut water.
Laddoos are another important food item for new mothers. Fenugreek is usually included in these that assist the growth of the baby, as well as gond laddoos which aid recovery. Numerous other types help reduce body aches as well.
Saunf is included in the diet as well, usually included in paranthas for the mother. Even drinking boiled water with saunf can help the mother’s uterus from cleansing itself and recovering the body’s strength.
Most households make sure that mothers have a lot of ghee at this stage. Ideally, it should be consumed in moderation, which provides a lot of nutrition to the baby and stimulates bowel movement in the mother.
Maternity Confinement Rules
There are a few rules most households tend to enforce on a mother, which are either traditional or medically required to be adhered to.
Using incense smoke while washing the hair
Refraining from sex for a fixed duration
Dressing warmly and covering the entire body
Staying away from household chores
Avoiding pointless television programmes or computer usage
Postnatal confinement is rooted deeply in supporting the mother’s recovery after the baby’s delivery. Some traditional aspects of the process might have been replaced in recent times, but most of the other conditions are extremely essential in ensuring that you return back to normalcy as speedily as possible, and enjoy taking care of your baby.

Scientific and Informational Room Decor for Kids
Ditch the traditional kids room decoration ideas of pink for girls and blue for boys, and opt for something that is creative and gets your child thinking. As a parent the onus is on you to turn your child's room into something that is special and unique.
Your child's room is a playground, a place to relax, and also one place in the world where your child can express himself completely. Little wonder this space needs to reflect his/her choices and be a fun spot where he/she learns a thing or two too. And what better way to do that, than with room decorations? We bring to you some useful room decoration ideas for kids that'll help you make your little ones world special indeed.
Intelligent Room Decor Ideas for Your Kids
1. Animal Theme
Move over blues and pinks and think of a theme that suits the energy and personality of your child. If your little one is an animal lover, consider doing up his room with the help of some plants and animals murals keeping the theme of the zoo in mind. You can get a wall painted with some of his favourite animal prints that glow in the dark or simply get a wall covered with animal printed wallpaper. The child will thank you for this every time he enters his room. Your happiness would know no boundaries when you see his/her delightful face.
2. Nature Canvas
Go green by showcasing the life cycle of a plant from germination to a full-fledged tree with the help of a painting if your little princess is in love with nature. Show what the plant really needs, how it grows, and so on. Bring the theme alive by using murals, stickers, wallpaper, fabrics, rugs, units, and even ceiling fan suggesting the nature theme. This theme will give your child a clear idea of the process of plant growth and be assured that your little botany specialist will remember this all her life.
3. Science Rat
A room that looks more like a science lab is perfect for your teenager kid. With the help of markers and colors, draw that twisty DNA molecule or just write fancy mathematical equations and chemistry formulas on the walls. A couple of flasks, holders, slides, and test tubes can be used in the place of artifacts. You can also make a sign board of ‘science laboratory’ to give the room a more authentic look. Your grown-up scientist will not only love his room, but will have some of the toughest equations and formulas handy, whenever he is busy revising for his exams.
4. Space Star
If you have a child who loves everything from space, rockets, planets to galaxies; then take him into another world by doing up his room in space theme. Stars and galaxies are all about the light, and hence, after painting the wall in white, decorate the room with outer-space themed lamps and lighting. Add a bit of sci-fi mystery with the help of decals, curtains, bed sheets and decorate the ceiling with glow-in-the-dark planetary alignments. May be your child will be the next astronaut who goes ahead and discovers a new planet altogether!
Your child’s room will eventually show how creative his parents are, so make sure you let your creativity shine through. Bedroom is more than just a place to sleep for your children. It’s their own little world. These room decoration ideas for kids open up a whole new world of exciting design possibilities, even for small spaces. Go ahead and give your creativity a shot! My journey towards womanhood - a juggle, an adventure, a blessing and continuing
I have always been an ambitious woman since my childhood, weather it be in academics or extra curricular activities. In school and college, there was not a single activitie/ fest which I was kot a part of. During the end of college days, I have tried for a wide variety of professions starting from Indian Army, Indian Airforce to IT companies. I have always been a quick learner. Having a master's degree in biotechnology, I am currently in IT field learning how to write computer code. I would travel, alone and with friends, explore new places and was never idle at home. I enjoyed my busy life. At that age, the teens to the early twenties, that was the definition of womanhood to me.
Once I got married, my priorities have changed. I became more centred and something new called "work life balance" has come into the picture. I have changed jobs, learned new technologies so that I can get a job with a good work life balance. It was very important for me to have a balanced personal and professional life after marriage. I knew that quality time was more important than quantity. I learned how to cook (my mom was a great cook before I got married, so I never had to cook), I would look up for interior decoration ideas and try them around my house, while I was still working. I enjoyed this work life balance, though it was a tough juggle. At this age, this was the definition of womanhood to me.
I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and she is currently 6 months old. My entire world shifted towards her and I forget the world whenever I see her beautiful smile. I love taking care of her. At the same time, I'm juggling with spending quality time with my husband, family and my work. It is very easy to quit work after having kids, but I know how hard I worked to get to this position in my job. This juggling with various responsibilities is very difficult, but what is life without it's challenges? One must learn to love this adventure. At this point, I consider this as womanhood and I consider myself as a complete woman after becoming a mother.
With age and with different phases of life, my definition of womanhood has changed. I believe that the real definition of womanhood would be how well a woman juggles with her work, her family and her health. Most importantly, how much is she enjoying this juggle. After all, women are great multi taskers.
I would conclude by saying that I am still in the journey of womanhood, maybe in the beginning of my journey. I have a long way to go and I am excited for the adventure!
