Just getting your husband a birthday card won’t cut it if you want to make his day memorable, which is why we bring some amazing ideas that will help you celebrate your husband's birthday.
Awesome Ideas to Celebrate Your Husband’s Birthday
If you are totally stumped about how to make your husband’s birthday special and have no idea how to move forward, you have come to the right place. Here are some ideas on how to celebrate husband’s birthday differently:
1. Breakfast in Bed
This is one of the most common romantic ways to celebrate your husband's birthday. Make breakfast for your dearest husband and pamper him on his day. It will make your husband feel like royalty when he wakes up to a delicious breakfast served to him by his beautiful wife. Start his birthday celebration by giving him breakfast in bed, and keep surprising him throughout the day.
2. Homemade Gift Coupons
Not all gifts have to be expensive to make your husband feel special. With a little creativity, you can make your hubby feel special too. Make gift coupons at home and treat your husband. It will be fun for sure. Make different coupons like, 'a romantic night for the couple' or 'a massage coupon'. There can be others that are more practical such as a lazy day coupon where you do all his chores for him and let him have a day to unwind without worrying about anything and so much more.
3. Take Candid Photos for Him
If you are handy with a camera or have a girlfriend that can assist you, take a few candid, naughty, and alluring pictures of yourself and gift those pictures to your husband. You can be sure that he will hold them near and dear for as long as he lives.
4. Leave Love Notes for Him
This one is sweet and simply requires you to leave love notes in the house, here and there, for your husband to find. You can do this for him all day and then surprise him with a special gift later at night.
5. Write a Love Poem
If you love to write and are good with words, you will have no trouble in writing a love poem for your husband, will you now? However, even if you don't write, you can give it a try. You don't have to rhyme each and every line, just think about the times you have spent with your husband, and the words will flow; soon you will have written a sweet love poem for your husband. Your husband will appreciate the effort, and it will be something he will treasure since you put your heart into it.
6. Consider Giving Gift Baskets
There are many ways you can put together a gift basket. You can fill it with the small things you know he will love and appreciate, or you can make it a bit more expensive by getting him a bottle of his favourite wine with the appropriate glasses. You can also get expensive goodies for him. Just remember what he likes, and you won't have to worry about whether he likes it or not.
7. Create Photo Book/ Wall Collage
You can do this either in a book or as a collage that can be hung on the wall. Your kids can help you when it comes to picking out their favourite pictures. Choose pictures that remind you of special times and of the people who are close to your husband.
8. Plan an Adventurous Trip
If your husband is of an adventurous type, then you can always plan an exciting trip that will get his adrenaline going. Plan a camping or hiking trip or take him on a mini vacation where he can try scuba diving or bungee jumping. If your husband loves camping or trying out other adventurous activities, this is one of the best gifts you can give him on his birthday.
9. Make Him 'King' for the Day
If you have kids who are old enough to help, you can always make your man feel special by making him King for the day. Leave no work for him to do and let him know that you and the kids are there to look after his every need for the day.
10. Dedicate a Song On the Radio
Now we are talking old school, but it is still a romantic gesture. You just need to make sure that you get the timing right and that your husband is listening to the radio when the song that you have dedicated plays. Play a song that you both love and that connects you.
11. Go for a Moonlight Dinner
Pick a spot in your city (probably a garden or your balcony) from where you can see the sky clearly, and deck that place with a table, chairs, candle, and fairy lights. Cook his favourite meal and have moonlight dinner - just you and your man under a full moon can really make for a romantic night. Play soft, romantic music to set the mood; dance a little and have a night to remember.
12. Plan a Romantic Getaway
Surprise him with a vacation that is just for the two of you at the most romantic and beautiful place you can find near your place. Go sightseeing, dine at fine restaurants, and enjoy each other's company in a beautiful room of a hotel.
13. Play Scavenger Hunt
This one may take some planning, but if done right, it can be a lot of fun. Leave your husband clues, each leading to the spot where he can find the next one. The best way to end the hunt by having his last clue be accompanied by an outfit you have picked out and a clue telling him to wear it and head to the place you said yes, which would be the place he proposed to you. You can wait for him there and surprise him. Later have dinner and take him out for a long drive.
14. Leave Messages for Him
Similar to the love notes, but this one will be only one message that consists of something saucy. Hide it in his pocket or wallet, and once he finds it, he is not going to be able to stop thinking about you all day. Make sure to follow through when he gets home to make it an extra special day for him.
15. Birthday Countdown
Why celebrate your husband on just one day? Why not make it a week-long birthday celebration. Start a week before his birthday and count down the days to it by giving him little gifts every day.
16. Letters from Loved Ones
Another way your husband can feel really special is if you reach out to the people closest to him like his closest friends, his parents, colleagues, and your kids. Ask everyone to write something special for him. Reading the messages from all the people in his life will touch his heart and put a smile on his face.
17. Take Him to a Concert
If your husband loves music, you can take him for a music festival or a concert if possible. If everything else fails, and you have some musical talent or have friends who can sing or play instruments, get together and give him the feel of a concert at home.
18. Leave a Love Trail
Flower petals, chocolates, heck, roll out the red carpet, but when your husband gets home, try having a trail leading from the front door to your bedroom where he will find a bed full of rose petals, a bottle of champagne, candles and you, preferably wearing something that will leave him speechless. Go all the way and make your man feel on top of the world.
19. Plan a Surprise Party
Most people love surprises and if your hubby is one of them, then why not go all out and surprise your man with a birthday bash he wasn’t expecting. You will need careful planning and friends and family who are willing to help. If your husband is at work, get everything ready before he gets home. If he has the day off, get someone to take him out and welcome him to a wonderful surprise.
20. Plan a Themed Party
If you are looking for more ideas to celebrate your husband’s birthday at home, try a themed party. Even adults can enjoy dressing up now and then, but it doesn’t have to be a kiddish scene. If your husband loves football, throw him a football-themed party where you all wear the colours of his favourite team. If he loves fishing, go with a fishing theme. You get the idea.
You don’t always have to spend a lot of money to make your husband feel good and celebrate his birthday. We hope that some of the ideas above have sparked something inside you as inspiration and will help you to make your man’s day feel like the best day of his life; apart from the day he married you, of course.

Fantasy vs. Reality In Your Toddler
A toddlers understanding of fantasy being different from reality has to be ingrained by parents at just the right age and stage. This makes sure they don't confuse their imagination with the reality around them.
Fantasy is a big, beautiful world. To tingle our children's imagination, we expose them to this wonderful world right from the beginning- telling them stories, talking about fairies and angels, showing them different cartoons and movies that are heavy on fantasy. At the time of growing up, the child believes that all that is being told to him is real until he nearly grows out of being a pre-schooler. It is your prerogative to expose your child to the difference between fantasy and reality. Let's learn how.
Teaching Toddlers About Reality vs. Fantasy
Understand the Child's Perception
Toddlers start understanding the difference between reality and imagination by the time they reach 3-4 years of age. Their understanding of reality is going through the routine of the day, say, going to a birthday party, the playground and the other exciting things he does in the day. For him, fantasy would be cartoon characters, story books and when he does pretend play. However, if your toddler is fond of watching Spiderman and if an artist lands up in the costume of Spiderman at a birthday party, this is sure to confuse him.
Fantasy Empowers Too
The option of completely keeping your child away from fantasy is neither possible nor feasible. In fact, in many situations, pretend play helps a child build his creativity and overcome certain fears like that of falling and getting hurt. Of course, there isn't any harm in keeping an eye on your child's idea of what is fantasy. Encourage him to see the reality of things for the sake of caution. Tell him a superhero can jump forty floors, but in the real world, it could cause unimaginable injuries. Therefore, fantasy is equally important for a child as much as reality.
Helping Toddlers to Differentiate Reality from Fantasy
This difference can be shown best while playing with him or watching a movie. You can introduce the concept of acting and tell him that the actors on the television are pretend playing. You can also show another movie of the same actor in a different role to drive home your point. This will be a fun exercise and will make the concept of what is imaginary and what is crystal clear.
Watch Out for Symptoms
Caution needs to be exercised when fantasy stretches too far and the toddlers understanding of reality becomes warped. Symptoms of this could be if the child stops interacting with friends, constantly lives in his make-believe world, and has conversations with imaginary characters all the time. At this time, you may need to seek professional help.
Parents need to be cautious as well as sensitive while teaching toddlers about reality and fantasy. Do share with us your methods of dealing with this. Read more

Mom Twinkle Khanna Shares 5 Funny Things MOST Indian Parents Do!
As Indian parents, we are willing to sacrifice everything for our kids and fight with the world for their happiness. But we also have some nuances and unique habits that make us different from any other kinds of parents in the world! Recently, in her newspaper column, mom and writer Twinkle Khanna shared some honest truths about Indian parents (herself included). While these are super funny, they are also super true!
Twinkle Khanna has been married to Akshay Kumar for over 16 years and is the mother to two children – son Aarav, who is now a teenager, and daughter Nitara who’s a cute little toddler. Over the years, she has become an inspiration for other fellow moms, by working hard on her writing and blogging. Today, she is a bestselling author and blogger renowned for penning stories full of wit and satire. She’s someone who doesn’t hesitate from speaking her mind, and for this, we are sure her husband and kids are very proud.
Recently, one Sunday, Twinkle had a conversation with her young son and his friend, who had come to visit along with his mother. Guess what the kids got on to discussing? Indian parents! During the course of this conversation, several funny things that Indian parents do and say came out in the open…
1. We Think Praising Our Kids too Much Will Give Them ‘Buri Nazar’
Twinkle’s mommy friend, who is also a mom entrepreneur, was talking about US President Donald Trump and how he recently tweeted about his daughter. Trump said that his daughter is a great person, always pushing him to do the right thing. Now, as Indian parents, while we love our kids a lot and accept that they give us the inspiration to be good, we do NOT always say this out loud. And the reason is simple: Nazar lag jaayegi. Check out what the kids feel about this:
“All Indian parents believe that if they say, ‘Oh my son is so smart!’ then from the skies above, nazar with a guidance missile attached will nosedive towards him and shatter his skull. You guys wouldn’t refer to your child as ‘a great person’ because of some ‘evil eye’ business.”
2. We Cannot Seem to Stop Comparing with Other Kids
There is no denying this – we just love to compare our children to other children. And it starts right from the time they are babies. My baby sleeps for longer than yours. My toddler has already started walking; what, the neighbour’s toddler is running?! We mean no harm when we do this; all we want is for our kids to be the best. However, our children tend to feel pressurised if we keep doing this over and over. Twinkle’s son Aarav said:
“Also, if he was Indian then the first thing he would have done would have been to compare his daughter to someone else’s daughter, like maybe wondering why Ivanka can’t be more like Malia Obama. Yes mom, all of you do this. Don’t you say, “Why can’t you be like Abhay? He is so polite!”
3. Our Nicknames for Our Children Are The Most Unique in The World
As Indian parents, naming our baby is a mighty big affair. Twinkle confesses how we “go through Sanskrit tomes, consult astrologers and after grave contemplation decide on an illustrious sounding name for our offspring.” However, “the moment the umbilical cord is cut, the name immediately changes to ‘Aru’ or ‘Pintu’ or something like that!” They sound cute, definitely, but when our kids grow up, they may actually find these less cute and more embarrassing. Her son complained:
“And also Ivanka would be called Ivu! What’s with all the embarrassing nicknames!”
Twinkle agrees that her son’s ‘accusation’ is not entirely unfounded. She calls her son Aru and her friend calls her son Golu! She took up this matter with husband Akshay.
“You know, our son is right about this pet name business too. Look at Akhilesh, such an imperial sounding name but guess what his father calls him, Tipu! I wonder if during their tiff, Mulayam told his son, ‘Arrey Tipu look at Lalu Prasad’s son Tej, that boy knows the meaning of respect, why can’t you be more like him?”
4. We Threaten Our Kids With ‘One Tight Slap’ and a Countdown
As a rough estimate, 8/10 of us parents are guilty of threatening kids with ‘one tight slap’ at least once a week! The slap never happens and we know it’s just a threat. But out it comes when the kids are being unruly or throwing food or refusing to listen. This, and the famous Indian countdown where the kids are supposed to listen to us at the count of 3, are the two most common methods we Indian parents use to discipline our kids. Check out what the kids had to say about our ‘threats’:
“And the threats that you guys keep making, ‘I will give you a tight slap now!’ What does that mean, mom? Otherwise would you give me a loose one, just flapping your hand around my face? And that famous countdown, ‘That’s it, you come here now, or you see what will happen, I am counting, bas 1, 2 and the last one is 3.’

5. We Seriously Discuss All of The Above with Our Husbands
Well, let’s be honest. Many Indian Dads also follow many of the above ground rules. But they also prefer to just go along with the flow and not give much thought to the parenting style they follow. What matters is that the kids are happy and the rest is up to the mom to handle. Plus, it can be really difficult to extract a proper conversation when they are glued to the television screen! Twinkle also took up the discussion with her husband, as he sat watching TV.
“What do you think your parenting style is? I think it’s authoritative, and sometimes even permissive!”
Akshay was glued to the television screen. He replied, “Meri maa, I can’t think so much right now, it is whatever you give it permission to be!”
Twinkle’s observations about Indian parents are certainly funny, but they are also spot on. She says that as Indians, most of us tend to follow the authoritarian style of parenting. We make children follow the rules unquestioningly. Some of us are permissive parents who let their kids do whatever they want. The ideal parenting style, she feels, is somewhere in between – the authoritative parents.
These are the parents who definitely teach kids to follow rules and be disciplined. But they also explain the reasoning behind the rules and are willing to negotiate a little when setting limits. They use more positive reinforcement as opposed to threats. This style of bringing up kids, and research agrees with this, is the best to ensure that they grow up to become happy and well-adjusted.
So, how many of these funny things do you find yourself doing as well? Come on, tell us the truth in the comments – after all, along with having our own funny habits, Indian parents are also among the most indulgent and loving. We are all doing a great job and these little things only add spice to the journey! Read more

Q. my baby girl is crying because of gas. can please tell how to relieve gas?
Dr Vandan H Kumar

A. from your history it appears that your child is having colic pain due to gas in abdomen
in colic pain you can give anti colic medicines like colicaid 0.5 ml to the child and this medicine can be given maximum three or four times per day but to prevent this problem kindly do regular burping for 15 to 20 minutes.d
do not kee ep the child back on the bed after one burping (all gas is not removed with one burping)
during the cdolic episode you can do stomach massage and limb cycling movements and if the child is more than 2 months of age you can give tummy time also.
advisable to learn more about it from your doctor.

A. the sleeping pattern of the child changes from time to time and will improve with increasing age of the child. if the growth and weight gain of the child is proper along with proper urine stool then there is no need to worry regarding the sleeping pattern.
you have to just see that the child is not having any disturbance during the sleep because it can occur due to gas as well as due to digestion problem. aldso see for the comfort of the child and see the bedding on which the child is sleeping.
try to prevent temperature variations around the child that is from hot to cold and cold to hot weather because that also can cause disturbance in the sleep. d
