Twin Pregnancy - Belly At 28 Weeks
With the 7th month of the pregnancy on you, the belly would be as big as it has never been before. The round curvature would be highly pronounced, and the stretch marks could also get stronger, given how intensely the skin needs to stretch itself. An itching sensation could emerge as a result of it.

Twin Pregnancy At 28 Weeks - Ultrasound

It is suggested that you drink water or juice to keep your body hydrated. Lack of water or dehydration may also cause cramping and make you uncomfortable. You may like to track your symptoms, and for the same, you can ask your partner or a friend to help you. If your symptoms subside or go away, it will be a good idea to relax for the day. However, if your symptoms become more intense and the pain increases, get immediate medical help.
What Are the Signs of Active Labour?
Below are some signs of approaching labour:
1. Stronger and More Regular Contractions:
You will experience more prominent and regular contractions during active labour. These contractions will not fade or go away, like Braxton Hicks’ contractions; rather, they will stay until the delivery of your baby. These contractions may begin like normal cramping but will become more pronounced and may occur every 3 to 8 minutes. You may feel these contractions rising from your back and slowly coming towards your stomach.
2. Your Water Breaks or the Amniotic Sac Ruptures
If you experience your amniotic sac rupturing or your water breaking, and you are also experiencing contractions with it, then you are surely going into labour. However, if your contractions have not started, then you may have to wait for a couple of hours for the labour to start. The water breaking is subtle, and you may feel like you are peeing, but you may not have control over it. It is also seen that only ten percent women may experience amniotic sac rupturing.
3. Intense Rectal and Pelvic Pressure
As you enter your labour you may feel increased pelvic and rectal pressure. The rectal pressure would feel more like a feeling of passing a bowel movement. When you feel these symptoms, this means your baby is on his way out.
If you experience the above-mentioned labour pain symptoms, you should prepare yourself to go to the hospital.
How Can You Tell Whether It is False or True Labour?
You can experience Braxton Hick’s contractions as one of the '37-weeks-pregnant' signs of labour. Here we shall discuss various aspects that will help you know whether you are in false or true labour.
Following signs are the signs of false labour:
The contractions come randomly and not at regular intervals.
The pain is limited towards the lower abdominal region.
The contractions do not become intense or more painful with time.
You may not experience any pain or discomfort while talking.
You may feel comfortable to move around, and the pain may even subside by walking.
Following signs are the signs of true labour:
Change in the foetal activity; it may decrease or increase in comparison to normal activity.
The contractions will be centred on your pelvic region.
You will experience the contractions at regular intervals, and they will become more intense as you move closer to delivering your baby.
You will experience pain in true labour that will begin from your back and come towards your lower belly in contrast to false labour, where the pain may only be felt around the abdominal region. You should call your doctor as soon as you experience the symptoms of true labour.
When Should You Go to the Hospital?
Your doctor or midwife will guide you properly about the labour and the birthing process. You will also be told when you would be required to go to the hospital.
The guidelines or instruction may vary, depending on your pregnancy. If you have a normal pregnancy, then you will be told about the normal guidelines to manage your early and active labour symptoms. However, if you have a high-risk pregnancy, are pregnant for the first time, or you have other complications, then your doctor may give you special guidelines depending on your case.
If you have any doubts or you are confused about your labour, feel free to give a call to your doctor. You will be guided on how to deal with your false labour or how to deal with your true labour till you reach the birthing centre of the hospital. However, if you are a case of high-risk pregnancy, you will be required to keep your midwife updated from time to time and even as soon as you go into labour.
If there are no complications involved in your pregnancy, you may be told to wait till your contractions last for about a minute each. These may come every five minutes, for up to an hour at a stretch. It will be a good idea to monitor and record the time of your contractions. As soon as you experience the actual signs of labour, where the contractions are more prominent, and at regular intervals, you should get in touch with your doctor.
However, it is recommended to get in touch with your doctor as soon as you see the following symptoms:
Reduced or low foetal activity.
You have vaginal bleeding, pain and even fever.
If your amniotic sac ruptures or you notice brownish, greenish, or yellow fluid. This could be meconium, your baby’s faeces or this may also indicate foetal stress.
If your amniotic sac ruptures before 37 weeks or you have contractions, this means you have preterm labour.

If you go out after applying lemon juice on your face, it can cause irritation or even burn your skin. In fact, if you go out after putting anything citrusy on your face, you can get a chemical burn called phytophotodermatitis. For bleaching and lightening purposes, it would be better to stick to potato or tomato slices.
5. Toothpaste
Many people apply toothpaste on their face to get rid of blackheads and zits, but it’s not recommended at all, as it can lead to the development of burns or infections on the affected area. In fact, your pimples may just look a bit too red after having toothpaste dabbed on them. So, from now on, use toothpaste only on your teeth, where it’s meant to be used, and not on your face!
6. Baking Soda
Baking soda is one of the most versatile ingredients found in a kitchen. From baking cakes to cleaning bathroom grout – we use baking soda for a lot of things. Now, you may ask what’s wrong with using soap on your face, because - let’s be honest – almost all of us have used soap on our face before the attractive face wash came into existence. But there must a reason for it, right? And there is!
We need to strip our skin of excess oils, but not of natural oils. Natural oils keep our skin hydrated and protected. However, if you use a soap bar on your face, it can dry out your skin too much (yes, it may strip the skin of its natural oils), making it rough, itchy, and inflamed. It’s always better to opt for a mild face wash or cleanser to wash your face.
8. Coconut Oil
Now this one is especially for people with oily skin. Similar to body lotion, coconut oil is viscous, which is why the skin on our face takes time to absorb it. This leads to the oil clogging your pores, leading to breakouts and acne. So, if you are keen on using oils on your face, use olive oil, but in limited quantities. You can pour a few drops of olive oil on to a cotton ball and gently apply it on your face.
9. Hair Sprays
This may seem rather odd, but believe us, there are some people who use hair sprays on their face thinking that it will help set their makeup, just like it sets their hair in place. But that’s not true! Hair sprays contain alcohol which can strip your skin of moisture. This can make your skin dry and look aged.
10. Nail Polish
This may seem like a no-brainer, but then there are some people who tend to use nail polish on their face in place of face paint. But no, it should not be used as face paint. The acrylic molecules in nail polishes can strip your skin of moisture, leaving it dry. So, don’t ever apply it on your face, even if DIY tutorials suggest otherwise.
11. Mayonnaise
Mayonnaise tastes great in burgers and sandwiches, and it’s good for the hair too – so, continue using it for these purposes only. Mayonnaise is a popular ingredient in many DIY treatments for hair health, but it’s not recommended in face packs. Mayonnaise is acidic and occlusive, i.e., it will stop your skin from ‘breathing’ and clog the pores on your face.

Breast Feeding Changes as Your Baby Gets Older

1. Birth to Three Months
When your baby is a new born (that is between birth to three months of age) you may always feel that your breasts are full. Even between the feeds you may constantly have this feeling that your breasts are full. This is because your body is producing more milk than required. Over a period of time your body adjusts to your baby’s appetite. Prolactin, the milk making hormone, adjusts its cycle with your baby’s needs and wants
There is no such thing that if you give milk to your baby on demand your baby will be spoilt. By giving your baby attention and milk whenever he is demanding you are nurturing a child who is emotionally secure and less demanding in future!
2. Three to Six Months
By the time your baby is six months old, your prolactin levels will drop back to where they were before you became pregnant. At this stage your body will start producing milk depending on the demand from your baby. By now you will also start feeling less full. By the fourth month, your baby starts experiencing teething and this may lead to sucking his fingers or chewing on objects. Moms can misread this as a sign of hunger, however be observant and you will start seeing the difference between the two. You may also find your nipples are sore during this period of teething as the amount of saliva produced by the baby is high.
3. Seven to Twelve Months
By this time your baby’s feeding time may become erratic. As your baby is learning to sit, crawl, stand, etc., he is so excited about exploring the world that he forgets his feeding timing and pattern. Moms will need to set a pattern and insist on following a routine at this stage. This routine will ensure your baby gets food and nutrients at the right time. Your baby may show lack of interest, however with patience and encouragement you will be able to move through this phase.
Solids also gradually take over as your baby reaches the age of 6 months and you may choose to reduce the amount of breastfeeding. Remember though, there is no rule about extended breast feeding.
