Simple Ways to Fight Pimples and Acne in Summers
Acne is a common problem. Whether you have acne-prone skin or you deal with those pesky pimples occasionally, we know you tend to worry even if you see a tiny red spot on your face. If you are someone who prefers pimple-free skin, you need to read this article. Breakouts are bad and can worsen in the summer season. However, we have some suggestions, which if you follow, will give you the best results. Yes, if you take some precautions, you will have glowing skin. Here is our guide on how to beat the blemishes this summer season.
What Are the Causes of Acne in Summers?
Heat and humidity during summers can make you sweat excessively. This causes skin cells to become much stickier than normal. Dead skin accumulates as debris on the outer surface and mixed with the viscous sebum it creates oxygen-negative environments under our skin where bacteria can multiply naturally. This causes inflammation of the skin leading to pimples.
How to Fight Pimples in the Summer Season
Here is how you can keep away that painful and blemishing acne and cure pimples in summer when the sun is out in all its glory.
1. Avoid Certain Foods and Drinks
The scorching heat makes us reach for sugary drinks during the summer. Staying hydrated is very important in summers, but you shouldn't try to quench your thirst by consuming high-sugar drinks or alcoholic beverages. Sugary drinks and unhealthy snacks can increase the chances of breakouts on your face. Foods with high glycaemic index can spike blood-sugar levels which can increase the need for insulin in the blood. Greater production of insulin can also increase sebum production which can then clog the pores. You should avoid consuming peaches and cherries, and sugary drinks, carbonated drinks, alcoholic beverages and fried foods. Also, eat foods that promote bowel movements and stimulate the liver to flush out toxins regularly.
2. Opt for Oil-free Sunscreen
In the hot months of summer, people tend to slather sunscreen on their face, which is quite alright. But sunscreen usually are too oily and adding layer after layer of oily sunscreen on your face can prevent your skin from breathing. As a result, you will have clogged pores. So be wise and opt for mineral-based sunscreens that have titanium oxide or zinc oxide. These are lighter and help reduce the occurrence of summer acne.
3. Do Not Try Anything and Everything for Acne
If you are trying out products containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to get rid of acne on your face, then don't. Chemical-based products may not suit all skin types. So, even if you want to try chemical-based products on your face, do a small patch test and see if it helps treat pimples in summer. Try foaming cleansers with alpha-hydroxy-acid or salicylic acid. Give yourself a chemical peel treatment once or twice a month to slow down oil production.
4. Moisturise Daily
Although it sounds counter-intuitive to layer your skin with moisturiser while it is spewing oil, moisture and hydration are necessary even for oily skin. Skin loses its supple quality when it is devoid of moisture. Try using moisturiser that have hyaluronic acid and which are light and non-oily.
5. Exfoliate Gently
To prevent the occurrence of pimples exfoliate your skin regularly. Eliminating toxins and impurities present in your pores will catalyse the healing of skin lesions. Preferably use a an exfoliating cleanser containing glycolic acid.
6. Wash Your Face with Plain Water
If you have oily skin and use soap to wash your face every now and then, then don't. Too much soap can be harsh for your skin and can upset the alkali-acid balance of your skin. Scrubbing your face can lead to the formation of acne. Use plain water and wash your face as many times as you can during the day. Use the cleanser and exfoliator once in the morning and evening respectively.
7. Don't Forget to Tone Your Skin
Use an astringent-based toner after cleansing. This will help reduce enlarged pores. Use cotton pads to dab on natural astringents like cucumber juice or rosewater on your face.
8. Try Simple Home Remedies for Acne
Neem is touted to be an excellent antibacterial remedy for acne. Boil a bunch of neem leaves in water and use the liquid to wash your face during the day. Carry around a solution of rosewater and cucumber water in a small spray bottle to freshen up your face while outside.
An oily skin should not prevent you from looking gorgeous or from having some fun on a beach on a hot summer day. Follow some of the tips mentioned to get rid of acne in summers. Tweak your food habits, cleansing routine, and your facial products too have gorgeous, glowing, and pimple-free skin this season.

Is Maida (White Flour) Good for Health
Maida or refined flour is a popular ingredient in most kitchens. We all have gorged on pooris, naans, samosas, biscuits, bread and cakes made from maida some time or the other. But is it healthy to do so? How exactly does it harm our body? Maida or refined flour is a finer form of wheat flour made from the inner part of the wheat grain. Wheat is processed to remove its germ and bran, leaving behind the endosperm which is the white flour. It is then ground well and bleached, which gives maida its typical white colour. The bleach and the chemicals combined with maida brings about its softness.
Why Should You Avoid Eating Maida?
We may have often heard that maida is not good for health. It is important to comprehend why is maida unhealthy. Maida health effects can be numerous. Some reasons why you should avoid eating maida are:
1. Risk of Obesity
The glycaemic index (GI) of maida is very high, about 71, which means it contains double the amount of calories when compared to low GI and unprocessed foods. So, when a person binges on foods that have maida, the calorie count may spike up. When the intake of calories is high, the body cells may receive more glucose than required which in turn gets accumulated as fat, leading to rapid weight gain.
2. Disrupts Digestion
One of the side effects of maida is that it can congest the digestive system. Maida has very little food value for it contains no fibre. Lack of fibre makes it difficult to digest it. It can upset the rate of metabolism thus interrupting the regular bowel movements causing constipation and other digestive problems. Also, it is short in moisture which disorders the digestive system.
3. The Danger of Developing Diabetes
Maida and diabetes are closely linked. The more refined a food item is, the greater insulin is needed to manage it. The hormone insulin controls sugar absorption by cells. Consuming too much maida initiates surplus release of sugar in the body. Elevated sugar levels can negatively impact the functioning of the pancreas which secretes the insulin hormone into the bloodstream. Initially, the pancreas may release extra insulin, activating an insulin hike. However, in due course of time, it is unable to cope with the increased production of insulin needed to regulate the blood sugar levels leading to insulin resistance and incidence of Type-2 diabetes.
4. Nutrient Deficient
Foods made of maida may score in the taste section. However, they tend to make a person feel stuffed and undernourished for they provide only empty calories. All the essential nutrients, proteins, minerals get destroyed during the processing of maida. Moreover, foods prepared from refined flour draw nutrients from the body to assist their absorption, thereby draining the body’s pool of minerals and vitamins.
5. The Threat of Chronic Diseases
Overc-onsumption of maida which makes a person susceptible to unwarranted blood sugar levels and obesity can also trigger higher triglyceride levels, causing heart disorders. Maida disadvantages also include a possible rise in LDL or bad cholesterol leading to clogged arteries and increased blood pressure. Excess intake of maida can stress the adrenals, failing them which may weaken the body’s immunity. Further, maida is acidic with low mineral content which can generate acidity in the body triggering chronic inflammation, health issues like headaches.
Toxic Chemicals in Maida Flour
The refining procedure along with the bleaching make several toxic chemicals in maida flour. Certain chemicals are added to preserve the maida-rich foods which can prove detrimental for the body. Some of the chemicals are:
1. Alloxan and Benzoyl Peroxide
Maida flour is milled from wheat during which all the dietary fibre starches and roughage gets left out. Also, benzoyl peroxide, a bleaching agent is used which imparts the flour its white colour. Benzoyl peroxide is a harmful chemical which is put to use in tooth whitening products and hair dyes. In its concentrated form, it can be quite explosive.
In addition to this, another chemical, alloxan is also added to provide the flour with a smooth texture. Animal testing has shown signs that alloxan can destroy pancreas’s beta cells, resulting in Type 2 diabetes. The use of both these chemicals can adversely affect the health causing various health ailments like constipation, obesity, chronic inflammation.
2. Mineral Oil and Ajinomoto
Mineral oil is a spin-off of diesel, kerosene and petroleum. It is made use of as a preservative in maida-rich foods. Food fried using mineral oil can last for many days without getting spoilt as bacteria cannot survive in it. But the potential hazards of the toxic product make it an unsafe proposition.
Ajinomoto or MSG (monosodium glutamate) has been barred from use by many governments due to the potential threat of kidney impairment and failure it holds. Ajinomoto is added to many maida-processed foods as it can improve the taste.
3. Other Harmful Chemicals in Maida
Many maida-rich foodstuffs also contain possibly dangerous chemicals like benzoic acid and sodium meta bi-sulphate (SMBS) which can spur several health complications particularly in kids and pregnant women.
Alternatives to White Flour
For safeguarding your health, it is best to avoid consumption of maida. If that seems difficult, it may bear well to restrict its intake as much as possible. Some alternatives to white flour can be:
Whole wheat flour
Millets like bajra, jowar, maize
Ragi
Rice flour
Gram flour or besan
Urad flour
Soy flour
Food products made from maida are widely available and consumed. It has increasingly become a part of our daily diet which is alarming. Such foods are not only fattening for the body but also very damaging as it can give rise to several diseases. Therefore, it is very vital to understand its harmful effects on health, limit its consumption and switch to healthier options.

Genital Herpes in Pregnancy
A healthy pregnancy is what every expecting mother wishes for, but there are few conditions that can be a cause for concern during pregnancy. One such condition is genital herpes. It is a sexually transmitted infection caused by HSV or herpes simplex virus.
Pregnancy and Genital Herpes
Genital herpes can be caused by two types of viruses, HSV 1 and HSV 2. The symptoms include blisters or sores in and around the genital area, which can sometimes be found around the anal area and even thighs. A pregnant woman with genital herpes can transfer this virus to her newborn baby if there is an outbreak just before birth. Therefore, if you are pregnant with genital herpes then you need to exercise great caution so that the infection does not get passed on to the baby.
How Does It Spread?
Genital herpes can spread after coming in physical contact with the infected person. The HSV-1 and HSV-2 can both cause genital herpes. The herpes simplex virus or HSV can be transferred from a person who has genital herpes to a healthy person through vaginal, anal or oral sex.
This virus cannot be passed on by using common toilet seat, bathtub or toiletries as the HSV is unable to survive long on non-living objects.
Symptoms
The symptoms of genital herpes in the first stage often go unnoticed and unrecognised as people often mistake it for an itch, insect bite, abrasions or yeast infection.
However, the very first symptoms of genital herpes can be visible as early as two to three days of catching the infection or as late as after a month. There is an outbreak of blisters and sores in and around the genital area. The symptoms are as follows:
There is a tingling sensation or itching before the outbreak of any blister occurs.
The appearance of the blisters can be seen on vagina, anus, and buttocks. If the infection is through oral sex then the lips, mouth, and face get affected.
The blisters at a later stage turn into ulcers.
These oozing ulcers form a crust after a few days.
There may be swelling and pain in the lymph glands.
Causes
The main cause of genital herpes is the HSV- 2 which can be passed during vaginal or anal sex. HSV-1 which causes oral herpes can also become the cause of genital herpes in some cases. The HSV-1 virus can be passed from the mouth to the genitals during oral sex. Thus HSV-1 and HSV-2 can both be a cause of genital herpes.
In cases of recurrent infections, the following may be possible triggers:
Weak immune system makes it easier for the virus to attack the body and place itself.
Consuming excessive amounts of alcohol can harm your immune system and thus trigger the virus
Stress is known to be a trigger for herpes. Scientists are still to find a reason as to why it is caused but studies have proven that it does have an impact
Any surgical procedure on the genital area may cause herpes to return because the nerve cells around the area could get inflamed and activate the dormant virus.
Complications
In most cases, genital herpes does not cause serious complications but in some cases it does. .
Genital herpes during pregnancy may cause serious complications leading to
Infection in new born babies- Herpes virus can be passed on to the baby during birth which may lead to blindness, brain damage and in some cases death.
Meningitis- Herpes virus may even lead to inflammation of membranes around the brain and spinal cord, which may result in this fatal condition.
Sexually transmitted disease- This infection may increase your chances of catching or transmitting other sexually transmitted diseases.
Problems in the bladder- Herpes may cause inflammation around bladder also, which can be extremely painful and discomforting.
Diagnosis
The physical examination and few lab tests will help a doctor diagnose genital herpes. The tests include:
Blood test- It will help determine the presence of HSV.
PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) Test- This is used to copy DNA from the blister, blood or fluid from the spine to find out which type of HSV is present.
Tissue Culture- A tissue scrapped from the sore or blister can be examined.
Treatments
Treatment for genital herpes include separate treatments for
1. Primary Infections
If someone is infected for the first time (primary infection), the doctor will administer oral anti-viral medicine can be prescribed depending on the severity of the infection.
2. Recurrent Infections
In case of recurrent infections the anti-viral medicine can be prescribed for a longer duration along with few precautions that need to be exercised on regular basis such as
Cleaning the affected area with warm water: This ensures hygiene and can also help allieveate the effects of the infection and discomfort.
Applying ice packs: Cold treatment around the affected area on a regular basis helps provide relief.
Applying prescribed ointments: These are medicated ointments that help dry the ulcers and treat the affected region.
Drinking plenty of fluids: Keeping yourself hydrated is the primary step to the treatment, which will also ensure the skin is well nourished.
Abstaining from wearing tight clothing: Tight clothing will put pressure on the affected area causing the pain, irritation and condition to worsen. Instead, opt for loosely fitted cotton or linen fabrics that allow the skin to breathe.
Can Herpes Affect the Baby?
Herpes can affect the newborn baby in the following ways
Skin, eyes and mouth infection – most babies may develop sores around their eyes, mouth and on their skin if they get infected. However no major complications arise if the baby receives prompt treatment.
Disseminated diseases- The baby with herpes virus may get disseminated disease that affects multiple organs, majorly lungs and liver. This is a fatal condition with low survival rate.
Central nervous system diseases- Babies may show lethargy, irritability, disinterest in feeding, fever or seizures if they catch herpes virus.
What If Women Get Herpes After Pregnancy?
Can herpes affect/ terminate pregnancy if a pregnant woman gets infected? No, it does not stop the pregnancy but if a pregnant woman gets genital herpes then there is a risk of transmitting the infection during labour/delivery. Though the chances are as dim as 1 in 10, the risk of passing the infection to a newborn baby increases if a pregnant woman gets herpes in the third trimester. Also, in rare cases when a pregnant woman gets infected in the first trimester, the virus may travel to the placenta and lead to miscarriage or cause birth defects.
What If Your Husband Has Herpes?
If your husband has herpes it is very important to exercise great caution throughout the pregnancy such as
Use condoms while having sex
Refrain from oral sex
Avoid any skin to skin contact with your husband’s genitals
Refrain from sexual intercourse and other sexual contacts in the third trimester.
If The Baby Catches Herpes Does It Affect The Baby?
When a newborn baby gets infected it is called neonatal herpes. It is a rare condition but this could result in skin, eyes or mouth infections. Herpes can also affect the baby’s brain, nerves, and other organs. A timely treatment can be helpful but certain conditions can become life-threatening.
Can Herpes Infected Moms Breastfeed?
It is safe to breastfeed if you have herpes, as the infection is not transferred through breast milk. However, you must exercise caution when you have a blister or sore on the following body-parts:
Mouth- Refrain from kissing the baby until it is cured.
Breast- If you have blisters on one breast, then you can feed from the other breast. If both breasts are infected then it is advised to give formula milk till the sores are completely healed.
Other parts of the body-Keep the area covered and do not let the baby touch it.
Ways To Avoid Herpes
Genital herpes spreads by the virus coming into contact with the infected person. This could be in the form of vaginal, anal and oral sex.
Therefore, if your husband has this infection then following are few ways to avoid getting this infection
Protected sex
Do not receive oral sex
The moment any symptom is observed, get medical help
Genital herpes and getting pregnant may pose some complications in the pregnancy. However, if you are wondering can I get pregnant if I have herpes, the answer is yes. However, you need to be careful throughout your pregnancy so that the infection is not passed on to your unborn child in the womb or while in labour.
A healthcare practitioner should be contacted as soon as you establish that you have genital herpes so that herpes pregnancy treatment can start without any delay.

10 Important Lessons, I taught to my toddler to make her independent and responsible.
Just a blink and time flies, and look her growing is such a delightful memory. When she was on her infant I dreamt her to reach on her toddler stage ,because I thought this is the stage where toddlers become more sincere ,more polite, and they could feed themselves independently 😹. However, things can not take place in the same way ,we are expecting.
.
.
What made me convinced to taught her best habits and lifelong lessons??
One day I was sitting on my balcony ,when she had recently learnt ,how to walk and that made her crazy as she wanted to explore everything. She moved to me and asked for my phone , I ignored her request so in response she started hitting me ,crying loudly even. It made me disappointed for a moment but cant help because she was just a kid so this could be my duty to teach her ,what is wrong and right so I took a decision that I will teach her the best habits that can worth fulfilling to her in future because being a mother i am her first teacher. Moreover, when our child is on toddler cycle ,it is called the best time to tech and trained them for everything good and basics, they need. In this time they grab the things quickly with their sharp mind ,which is quite more active then us.
.
.
The First Lesson:-
I started playing some role plays with her ,that kept her cheerful and in these role plays I taught her how to speak with elders ,although her tongue was still not clear .For an instance, as am living with my in-laws so Daada g,Daadi g were the first practice words in an honour of respecting elders. My efforts were working out undoubtedly that exercise took a weak to trained her but the the outcome was worth as she started adding “G “ as suffixes and made everyone smile .Alongside she responds in “Haanji” to every question. That was a bonus to me.
.
.
The second Lesson:-
Whenever she woke up in the morning I asked her to wish good morning to everyone and she thought this is a game ,so she loved to wish all. And when she sleep back in the night “Goodnight was the second word of a day end. The same practice took approximately 10 days to made her perfect for this daily routine and a good manner of a good child.
.
.
The Third Lesson:-
I wanted her to eat her food independently without seeking any support ,alongside I knew it that it is quite hard, because she was only one and half year old and very moody eater to anything.Neverthless, I took that risk ,as I was aware that she will not properly and her stomach stays empty. But no worries because initially being a mother its kind of a tough job but some times we had to be strong . She was eating only one third from her daily routine and the cycle remain same for next 3-4 days but surprisingly after 4 days she was eating much better and after 10 days she becomes an independent eater and loves to eat freely. There is one line i heard from one of my friends “ Insaan ka bacha hai bhukh toh lagegi aur khayega bhi”. And thankful it all worked out.
.
.
The Fourth Lesson:-
She was quite friendly in nature ,that anyone could easily take her to their arms . Undoubtedly,to being friendly is not a bad thing ,but in present scenario its even hard to trust strangers as we heard number of news in crimes. I started telling her the little understanding stories of a watchman and convinced every stranger is a watchman ,and watchman has a scary stick.Although she wasn’t sacred but she started believing that watchman is a bad guy so you shouldn’t go along with the strange folk because they are watchman, this Lesson was a much needed to keep her safe.
.
.
The Fifth Lesson:-
Most of the time, she started crying loudly .So to change this habit of her , I had played a small child role play with her ,included soft toys and made her believe that you are a big girl among them and if you cry loud then they will also cry and got disturbed. It had taken at least 15 days to trained her because it wasn’t a cup of tea to convinced your toddler to not cry loudly without any reason .
.
.
The Sixth Lesson:-
As she got her all required teeth’s, so this is the time when parents usually pushed their kids for Brushing ,morning and evening ,and I am one of them.In addition, the toothpaste you are using it should be fluoride free, without any harmful chemicals .And you should use only a pinch on extra soft brush ,which specially designed for only toddlers ,because their jaws are not that strong to handle hard ones. In beginning, she wasn’t happy to brush ,although she loved to eat the toothpaste😻😹.So I thought to accompanying her,it was fun to brush with her ,she had noticed me that, how I was brushing, and the same she was repeating .That seems like a game to her. In a week, she was fully trained and most of the time she still says“Mumma lets go for brushing teeth’s its a cleaning time.
.
.
The Seventh Lesson:-
Her food timing was very unusual,so I planned to fix the same for her morning breakfast, lunch and the dinner along her snack and milk timings.she had shown number of tantrums to me in the beginning but with time and next couple of days she started asking for everything on time. So every parent has to be more responsible for their offsprings meal timings ,it helps to keep your child healthier.
.
.
The Eighth Lesson:-
To being a parent,we have more affection to our children so we never let them to sleep alone . And trust me this is not a good habit at all . My daughter never sleep alone and she couldn’t,because we never let her since her birth .So it was an hard decision for us too to create this habit in her . So in the beginning what we preferred ,when she asleep we started shifting her to the next room with open doors for safety reasons because if she cry in the night then that helps us to got to know ,along with zero vault bulb for little brightness.Trust me , I and my husband awake whole night and the same will continue till 10 days of her training but after 11th day we started believing that now she can sleep . Because we noticed that whenever she felt tired she usually go to her room for rest. Trust me it also helps to make my daughter more stronger and independent.
.
.
The Ninth Lesson:-
Toddlers are always messy to arrange their toys and my daughter was the messiest one, However, I provided her the toy basket to manage her toys ,respective shelves for soft toys, but kids are kids that we mothers think so. Because we have the softest corner for our kids in our heart. So what I did to make her managed kid for her stuff and keeping back toys in the same place from where she picked up. I started motivating her that you are a good child and good child always keep their toys in their right place and dirty kid always throw their toys and she always like to me that” Mumma I am a good baby na “ and I always appreciated her ,because I think your child always seek appreciations ,that helps them to boost their energy level ,so keep praising and applauding them for any good thing they do in a day.
.
.
The Final one:-
Being a kid they have no sense to wear clean clothes ,until parents noticed. My daughter was the same so Whenever she got some spots on her clothes I started teasing her “ Baby look at your clothes ,they are dirty and wet. She started noticing the spots and feel the awareness of wetness So trust me this task was hardly taken approximately counted 3 days . Now onwards Whenever she got any spot to her clothes, she run immediately to me and asked me to change her clothes and put on clean ones. This made my daughter Tidy child and helps her to maintain the hygiene, which is most essential to maintain distances from number of diseases.
.
.
PS:- Parents are always emotional to their children and this is a human nature, which nobody can denying, but we are the one who are the only well wisher of our kids so creating right path to them is our duty because this will help them to face obstacles in their future. So Sometimes to being strict and rude to your child is not a bad thing, this will be worth full to them and will play essential role to make them a responsible person and human being. Read more

Babyhug Must Have Premium Potty Training Seat for Toddlers Review
- Babyhug Must Have Premium Potty Training Seat for Toddlers Review
The best way to make your child good is to make them happy. I was looking out for a potty training seat for my baby and my 20-month-old baby girl found this potty seat very fascinating and she was eager to use it. Its GREAT! Practical and comfortable, it does not require special care or cleaning and is also durable. Baby Potty Training Seat is pretty cute well curved, with a good finish, good quality material easy to clean. It has all a baby Potty training seat should have. Very good.
Amazing build quality. It fits nicely on western seats. I love the design and quality, look and feel of the seat. It's made well and easy to use which is important because you don't want a seat that's not made well.
Good design, specially the side handles and front raised portion, it's better than every other similar product available out there. You will use it for sure coz it's designed to be used easily unlike other products we just try using and later put them in corner coz they are either difficult to be used or cleaned or doesn't fit properly where there are chances for your kid to fall.
The seat is comfortable for my child. It is soft and sitting isn't a problem at all. It is balanced so if a child leans over the seat doesn't topple. It's and strong and as such the child can sit without support easily.
It could come with padding seat. Because of its lovely matt finish, I can keep it outside the washroom also and it would be easy access for her when nature calls. I felt it could have been a little less in price. But, overall, it’s good if you like something cute than regular bright potty trainers. I would like to recommend this product to all the new mothers who are struggling to potty train their child. Read more
