10 Signs of a Healthy Baby that Every Parent Must Know
Babies need a lot of care and as parents, you make sure you do everything possible for maintaining your baby’s good health and overall well-being. But babies cannot talk and tell us their situation and this puts parents in a difficult situation. But if you are observant then you may notice various signs that show you that your baby is healthy and also doing well. In the following article, we shall talk about some signs that every parent must know to establish the well-being of their babies.
10 Signs that Indicate your Baby is Healthy
As a mom you are always anxious for your baby’s health but how to know if the baby is healthy. Here we have some signs of a healthy infant that you should look for in your baby:
1. If Your Baby Demands Frequent Breastfeeding
Babies are born with an innate sucking reflux, which means that as soon as you get anything close your baby’s mouth, he may begin sucking it. If your baby has a good sucking urge and asks for frequent feeds this means that your baby has a good appetite and a good digestive system. If your baby makes a gulping sound when he swallows milk, this means that he is feeding well. A baby who feels satiated may sleep post the feeding session.
2. If Your Baby Feels Calmed And Soothed By Your Presence And Voice
Your baby spends 9 months in your womb and all this while your voice had become an important part of your baby’s existence. After your baby’s birth too, he may listen and respond to your voice and this is a hint that your baby is on the right track of emotional development. If you are able to soothe your crying baby or he pays attention whenever you talk to your baby, it is evident that your baby is hale and hearty.
3. If You Are Changing 4-6 Diapers In A Day
Yes, your baby’s pee and poop also define how healthy he is. No matter whether your baby is breastfed or is on formula milk, on an average he should be wetting 4 to 6 diaper in a day. This is a clear indication that your baby is not only feeding well but he is also properly hydrated. Your baby will also show a considerable weight gain in the first few weeks after birth. However, if your baby is wetting fewer diapers in a day or not showing substantial weight gain, this means he is not feeding well. Also, darker coloured urine indicates dehydration in babies.
4. If Your Baby Is Gaining Adequate Weight And Height
Every time you take your baby to the doctor, your doctor measure your baby’s weight and height. In the first six months, your baby grows fast and on an average, your baby may gain 5 to 7 oz of weight and ½ to 1 inch of height every week. As a matter of fact, if your baby is approximately twice his birth by 5 months and thrice his birth weight by the time he is one year old, this means he is healthy. You may ask your doctor about your baby’s ideal weight and height.
5. If Your Baby Looks At You And Smiles
Your baby is able to look at you and make an eye contact by the time he is one month old, your baby may smile at you by the time he is two months old and he may giggle out loud by the time he is four months old. By the end of five months, your baby may smile back at you. As soon as you register your baby making cooing and babbling sounds, this may mean that he is all set to speak his first words. These small milestones are indicative of the fact that your baby is growing in a healthy way and he is also aware of his surroundings.
6. If Your Baby Observes Various Things Around Him
At birth, your baby’s vision is not that great and everything seems blurred to him. However, as your baby grows he observes and focuses on things around him. After birth your baby’s vision is limited to 8 to 12 inches only, however, this increases gradually and your baby starts looking and focusing on objects that are farther. Therefore, if your baby has his gaze fixed on the ceiling, he may be observing a moving fan. This is a sign that your baby is growing in a healthy manner.
7. If Your Baby Responds To New Sounds
Your baby is able to hear before birth, which means he is aware of various sounds and noises when he was in your womb. However, babies are not able to recognize sounds but as your baby starts growing he may develop a better understanding of various sounds around him. You may notice him reacting to the sound of music, television and even sound from the toys. Whenever your baby may hear a new sound you may see him react, which is a good sign of healthy development.
8. If Your Baby’s Stool Are Regular
Though it may sound a bit strange your baby’s poop is also helpful in determining how well he may be doing in terms of his health. Babies have a different frequency in passing stool, where some may poop few times a day others may poop once in few days. There is no need to feel concerned till the time your baby’s stools are normal, which means that they are soft and your baby is comfortable in passing the stool.
9. If Your Baby Sleeps Well
Sleeping is very important for the overall development of the babies and if your baby sleeps well he will grow well too. As your baby grows, his improved nervous system will help him get into various schedules and sleep is one of them. If your baby sleeps well, this means he is happy and contented and therefore, it is a sign of healthy development.
10. If Your Baby Is Able To Support His Own Weight
When your baby is one month or older, he may be able to lift his head briefly and by the time he turns three months, he may be able to lift his head for a longer time by lying on his tummy. This is a great indication that your baby has control over his muscles and thus trying to make various movements. By six months of age your baby may roll on both sides, sit with support and by the time he is one year old, he will be able to crawl, stand and walk with support. These all are indicators of a healthy baby.
Above-mentioned are some of the signs that show that your baby is doing fine. However, if you experience any developmental delays, it is suggested that you seek help from your doctor in understanding the reason and take necessary measures to cure the same.

Popular Christmas Carol Songs List for Kids
We’ve compiled some Christmas songs for kids to help your kids find their Christmas spirit.
1. All I Want for Christmas Is My Front Two Teeth
This popular Christmas song by Donald Yetter revolves around how the singers want their front teeth back so that they can wish people on Christmas without a lisp. It is perfect for children from 5-7 years because they would have some teeth missing themselves! A group of kids lisping this Christmas song is guaranteed to raise their cuteness levels off the roof!
Song Lyrics
Everybody pauses and stares at me
These two teeth are gone as you can see
I don't know just who to blame for this catastrophe!
But my one wish on Christmas Eve is as plain as it can be!
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth,
See my two front teeth!
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas."
It seems so long since I could say,
"Sister Susie sitting on a thistle!"
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be,
if I could only whistle (thhhh, thhhh)
All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth,
My two front teeth,
See my two front teeth.
Gee, if I could only have my two front teeth,
Then I could wish you
"Merry Christmas!"
2. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Written by Johnny Marks, this Xmas song talks about Rudolph, the reindeer. While the story starts with a downer about Rudolph being ostracised by the rest, things change when Santa asks him for his help. The song, though simple, is powerful through its metaphorical value about how children treat their peers. The song is good for pre-pubescent kids who are conscious of being different.
Song Lyrics
You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen,
Comet, and Cupid, and Donder and Blitzen,
But do you recall the most famous reindeer of all?
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows.
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Play in any reindeer games.
Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then all the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
You'll go down in history!
3. Jingle Bells
James Lord Pierpont composed this masterpiece which is inseparably associated with Christmas. Its cheerful melody brings out the Christmas spirit in anyone who hears it and is one of the top Christmas songs for preschoolers.
Song Lyrics
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtail ring'
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight!
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way;
Oh! what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh
4. Joy to the World
Written by the celebrated theologian Isaac Watts, the Christmas carol coaxes nature and men to rejoice in the love they are about to receive on Christmas.
Song Lyrics
Joy to The world! the Lord is come
Let earth receive her King
Let ev'ry heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven and nature sing
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing
Joy to the world! the Saviour reigns
Let men their songs employ
While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat the sounding joy
Repeat. repeat, the sounding joy
He rules the world with truth and grace
And makes the nations prove, The glories of His righteousness
And wonders of His love
And wonders of His love
And wonder, wonders, of His love
5. Little Drummer Boy
Katherine Kennicott Davis’s famous Xmas carol for kids talks about a little boy who finds himself in the company of the kings who are about to meet Baby Jesus. But, he feels that he doesn’t have a suitable gift and sings his thoughts to others. This beautiful Christmas song can be sung by kids of all ages but holds special relevance for kids from orphanages.
Song Lyrics
Come they told me
Pa rum pum pum pum
A newborn King to see
Pa rum pum pum pum
Our finest gifts we bring
Pa rum pum pum pum
To lay before the kIng
Pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum
So to honor Him
Pa rum pum pum pum
When we come
Baby Jejus
Pa rum pum pum pum
I am a poor boy too
Pa rum pum pum pum
I have no gift to bring
Pa rum pum pum pum
That's fit to give our King
Pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum
Shall I play for you
Pa rum pum pum pum
On my drum
Mary nodded
Pa rum pum pum pum
The ox and lamb kept time
Pa rum pum pum pum
I played my drum for Him
Pa rum pum pum pum
I played my best for Him
Pa rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum,
rum pum pum pum
Then He smiled at me
Pa rum pum pum pum
Me and my drum
6. Silent Night
Franz Xaver Gruber and Joseph Mohr composed this elegant Christmas carol that reminds us why Christmas is celebrated. The carol can be reproduced effortlessly by children with a rudimentary understanding of playing the guitar. Older, and musically inclined kids can also play with the harmonies to accentuate the song.
Song Lyrics
Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright.
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight.
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia,
Christ the Saviour is born!
Christ the Saviour is born.
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God love's pure light.
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth,
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth.
7. I Saw Three Ships
This simple song by William Sandy encapsulates the happiness of the approaching Christmas morning. If you’re looking for a Christmas carol that’s long but easy for the kids to remember, this is the song you’re looking for because of its repetitive wording.
Song Lyrics
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Pray, wither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
Pray, wither sailed those ships all three,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
O they sailed into Bethlehem,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
And all the bells on earth shall ring,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
And all the souls on earth shall sing,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
And all the souls on earth shall sing,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Then let us all rejoice again,
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
Then let us all rejoice again,
On Christmas Day in the morning.
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day in the morning.
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day, on Christmas Day;
I saw three ships come sailing in
On Christmas Day in the morning.
Short Christmas Poems for Children
Poems are the lesser-known cousins of Christmas carols which are just as fun and simpler for children to recite. Here are a few of them:
1. My Christmas Wish
This Christmas poem helps bring about the ideals of gratitude and compassion in a child. The poem is about a child who considers himself/herself blessed and wishes the same for children all around the world. It touches upon matters that every kid holds dear to their heart such as toys, happiness, freedom, friendship, health and love.
I wish that this Christmas, that kids like me,
Get lots of toys, under their tree.
I wish this Christmas, that kids like me,
Plenty of happiness will feel and see.
I wish this Christmas, that kids like me,
Are never lonely, and are always free.
I wish this Christmas, that kids like me,
Have lots of friends, on both land and sea.
I wish this Christmas, that kids like me,
Are very healthy, from A to Z.
But if only one, wish comes true,
I hope love in their hearts, sticks just like glue.
2. Wiseman
This delightful Xmas poem is sung to the tune of “Twinkle Twinkle”, making it easy for kids to get the flow right. It substitutes the words perfectly to describe the journey of the three kings on their way to greet Baby Jesus.
Once there was a star so bright,
Wiseman followed it at night,
All the way across the sands,
Bringing presents in their hands,
Baby Jesus was the boy,
Who they came to see with joy.
3. I’m a Little Reindeer
Drawing inspiration from the success of “Rudolph the Reindeer”, this little poem is narrated by Rudolph himself. Due to its simplicity, it’s one of the ideal Xmas poems for preschoolers.
I’m a little reindeer, ready to fly.
I’ll pull Santa’s sleigh, up in the sky.
Christmas is here, we can’t be late.
All the children, just cannot wait!
4. The Funniest Face
One of the short poems for children, it is written by Anon. It talks about how the narrator of the poem confuses himself/herself for Santa.
The funniest face looked out at me,
From a silver ball on the Christmas Tree!
At first, I thought it was Santa’s elf,
But I looked again and it was just myself!
5. Snowball
Written by Shel Silverstein, it’s a hilarious take on children who are obsessed with snow. But, even if it doesn't snow, the poem has a great winter vibe that cannot be denied by kids.
I made myself a snowball,
As perfect as could be,
I thought I’d keep it as a pet,
And let it sleep with me.
I made it some pyjamas,
And a pillow for its head,
Then last night it ran away,
But first - it wet the bed!
6. A Christmas Tree
Written by an anonymous writer, you can teach this poem to your kids while you are all busy decorating the Christmas tree.
A Christmas Tree One little star on the top of the tree,
Two little presents underneath for me,
Three silver ropes twisted around the tree,
Four coloured lights shining prettily,
Five shining balls flowing silvery.
Oh, what a sight for us to see!
7. Christmas Gift
Written by Maureen, it teaches kids that Christmas gifts needn’t always be toys and a good character is the best gift of them all.
The gifts I’d leave beneath your tree,
Aren’t those that you can touch or see,
Not wrapped in Christmas tissue gay,
But gifts to bless you every day.
The gift of friendship warm and true,
Is one that I would leave for you,
Good health and happiness and cheer,
To keep you smiling through the year.
The gift of peace that comes from God,
With prayer to guide each path you trod,
And when your heart has lost its song,
The gift of hope to cheer you on,
These are the gifts I’d leave for you.
8. Reason for the Season
Written by an anonymous author, it’s a nice little piece that the kids can sing when the extended family comes over to celebrate Christmas.
When eggnog’s generously filling,
Each and every Christmas mug,
And siblings tour miles and miles,
To greet you with a hug.
There’s scarce else I’ll be wishing,
Then this simple little prayer,
Of peace and calm and blessings much,
On Christmas Day this year.
Christmas is a joyous time to celebrate the birth of Jesus with your family. As your kids sing these Christmas songs and recite the poems, their little voices will echo across your home, and set the mood right for Christmas!

Benefits of Constructive Play in Early Childhood

It helps improve the problem-solving skills of a child.
It helps a child explore symmetry, sizes, shapes, and other aspects of the objects.
It helps a child understand the concepts of cause and effect, balance, and gravity.
It helps a child in building up his self-esteem as the child is in control of his surroundings and his own environment.

It ignites a child’s curiosity and triggers his interest.
It opens up a world of imagination for a child.
It helps a child understand the world around him by exploring his options and by representing one object with another.
It helps shape up a child’s physical skills, which include both gross motor and fine motor skills.
It helps a child learn about planning and implementation.
How to Encourage Constructive Play in Your Child
Here are some ways of encouraging your munchkin to get involved in constructive play:
1. Get the Appropriate Stuff
If you wish to help your child explore unlimited possibilities, help him by getting him toys or stuff that can be constructed or used in several different ways. Some of the options include sticks and stones of different shapes and sizes, sand and tools, wooden building blocks, etc.
2. Play with Your Child
The best way to gain your child’s attention into doing something is by start doing it yourself. If your child watches you playing with objects, your child will get involved too. So, be a role model and your child will learn.
3. Get Versatile Objects
Once your child gets hooked to something, he may want to do it all the time. So, get new objects that your child can play with both indoors and outdoors.
4. Let Your Child Explore
Never force children into constructing or making something that you want. Let your little one explore and make whatever his heart and mind desire.
5. Let Your Child Be
It is a great way of escaping from reality and moving into the world of fantasies. Letting the child do what he wants to do can help trigger your child’s imagination.
6. Invite Your Child's Friends
Children love to play with their friends or siblings. If you want your child to do something, gather his attention towards other children who are doing the same.
7. Make it More Interesting
If your child shows no interest in one idea or one method, you may try various other methods for gaining your child’s attention. Bright, colourful objects are the ones that gain maximum attention of the kids. So, give them a try.
8. Do Not Make it Look Tedious
Anything that looks complicated or your child feels hassled around may lose your child’s interest. Get stuff that is easy to handle and looks interesting.
9. Appreciate and Praise
Children feel happy and motivated whenever you praise or appreciate them for their efforts. In order to help your child explore possibilities, praise his initial and subsequent efforts too.

Are You a Superwoman? Does Everyone Takes You for Granted?
Girls are raised to be independent when they are young. Atleast in my generation I have seen my women flourish and take a stand in whatever they like and accomplish them. But in giving these special wings to them, some other things have to be sacrificed. It is just the rule of nature, to get something to need to sacrifice something.
A career seeking women may have to neglect her family sometimes meanwhile the other way is also true, a homemaker may have to sacrifice her career for the sake of her family! In rare cases both can be accomplished in a win-win situation but I said before those cases are very rare. For that she needs to have a strong support system, but then she has been brought up independently how does she depend on people now?
Trusting people is another issue, in today's world where physical communication amongst neighbours or relatives itself is very difficult! Let alone building new relations and building trust with them. This all has to go with the mindset not just of her but people surrounding her as well.
After getting married these girls, go to another home to start a family of their own, little are they taught about the real world they are entering into. These girls who have read fairy tales expect their prince to come and sweep her off her feet and carry her to their castle! In reality there is no happily ever after. The cycle of sadness and happiness rotates itself to show their true meanings.
Amongst this if a woman appears to be a superwoman who can tolerate all these and still emerge as a winner, yet there would be some kind of nagging which will eventually pull her down to her roots again. We need to fight this and re emerge and ascertain our worth and sometimes prove to people who we are even though it is unnecessary.
As a working mother myself, I would like all mothers to pledge themselves that they would never forget their own individuality even though they work to build their own family and life. Remember your wishes and make it known to people around you! You never know how some some people may come forward and support you against their own will or your own expectations.
Take a stand for yourself woman, as you are the pillar of the family, if the pillar is strong so is your family!!

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. But it is really very difficult to say anything without proper examination. It is advisable to get yourself evaluated by a gynaecologist and follow doctors advise properly. You can also book online doctor’s appointment on FirstCry where the doctor can guide you properly.
Thanks and take care
