Eating Avocado in Pregnancy
Rarely is any fruit called as a complete nutrition package, but avocado wins the title hands down. Most nutrition experts swear by this fruit, too. This not only provides nutrition but also helps control diseases and various illnesses keeping a person healthy in every manner, which is why having avocados during pregnancy is something every pregnant woman thinks of as well.
Is Avocado Good for Pregnancy?
Avocados contain many essential nutrients such as potassium and folate. These elements play a vital role in the growth of the foetus and its proper development. Having avocado during the third trimester of pregnancy is highly preferred and safe, given a large number of vitamins and minerals they contain.
How Many Avocados Can You Eat in A Day?
The best thing about an avocado could end up being the worst thing about it if had in excess. Moderation is always the key since avocados contain all types of nutrients, minerals, and oils in varying quantities. It’s best to restrict yourself to half an avocado on a daily basis to avoid any side effects of it.
Health Benefits of Eating Avocado during Pregnancy
Some of the best health benefits of eating avocado while pregnant are,
1. Reduces Weight Gain Risks
Avocados contain substantial amounts of fibre that aid the digestion process as well as keep a check on weight gain. Fibre assists the good bacteria in the gut aiding metabolic digestive processes and keeping health in check. Having avocado juice during pregnancy is a great practice to adhere to if you are trying to avoid gaining unnecessary weight.
2. Assists Nutrient Absorption
Avocados themselves contain tons of nutrients, but what makes them different from other healthy fruits and vegetables is their tendency to assist the body in absorbing these nutrients. They do so by absorbing the same from existing food items in the body. In presence of leafy vegetables or sweet potatoes, avocados absorb the antioxidant carotenoids from them, which are then easily assimilated into the body.
3. Provides Important Minerals
Calcium, magnesium, potassium, copper, zinc, manganese, phosphorous, and tons of other minerals and vitamins are present in the avocado fruit. All of these are extremely crucial in providing the right nutrition for the mother as well as the growing foetus. And you get all of them from a single fruit.
4. Development Of The Baby’s Brain
One of the key components in ensuring proper brain development in the foetus is chlorine. This element is essential in developing a strong nervous system and a proper network of nerves throughout the body. A single serving of avocado has about 22mg of chlorine. This amount is enough to support the brain development process.
5. Relief From Leg Cramps
All pregnant women have suffered from leg cramps one time or the other. Most of the relief from leg cramping can be achieved by having a good constitution of potassium and calcium in the body. Avocado becomes a great choice in that accord with its substantial proportions of both minerals, leading to relief from cramps.
6. Maintaining Cholesterol And Sugar
A balanced diet coupled with some cravings can cause the levels of cholesterol and sugar in a pregnant mother to be off the required limits. By eating avocado, this can be actively mitigated since it works in keeping those levels in control and your health in check.
7. Reduced Morning Sickness
Every pregnant woman hopes to achieve some relief from constant nausea and fatigue that sets in after vomiting sensations in the early months. The vitamin C present in the avocados is helpful in combating this phenomenon.
8. Super Package Of Vitamins
With so many vitamins present in so many food items, keeping the diet balanced is a task in itself. Avocado simplifies it by literally having every vitamin present in it. Almost all the vitamins required for the mother’s well-being and the foetus’ growth are present in the avocado.
9. Reduces Anaemic Conditions
Pregnant women can easily get deficient in iron and it can be dangerous both for them and the child. The proportion of iron in avocado allows to normalize the iron levels in the body and reduce chances of anaemia.
10. Best Folic Acid Source
During foetal growth, any absence of essential elements such as folic acid can result in the foetus having defects and may give rise to abnormalities. Folic acid in the avocado is essential to support the healthy growth of the baby’s organs.

Take some slices of wholegrain bread or brown bread and toast them.
Mash the avocado and paste it on the toast. Enjoy the crunchiness along with the great taste.
Risks Associated With Consuming Avocado While Pregnant
With all the nutrition and all the health benefits avocado has, there are certain times when consuming avocado can be risky for certain people.
On one hand, consumption of avocado helps keep the weight gain in check. However, if you already have quite a lot of fat content and are actively trying to reduce weight, it is recommended to take an even lesser amount of avocado than usually advised. Avocados contain a large number of calories from all the good fats they contain. Though they are good for health, in a scenario like this, can very easily lead to increased weight.
Certain mothers do have allergies to latex. In such cases, consumption of avocados and even bananas are forbidden. Research has shown latex allergies are triggered by these fruits.
Keeping the consumption moderate and balancing it out with other diet options is how you can mitigate most risks that may come your way through avocado.

Why Does Your Baby Stare at Your Hands?
Does your dear little one stare at your hands? Are you wondering why your baby gazes at your hands and his crib toys? Is this behavior normal? If you are stressing over this habit, then you need not worry any more. Visual development begins very early and staring at hands is only a part of this.
Here we list some reasons and facts that explain why your baby stares at your hands.
1. Baby Has Blurry Vision In His First Week
In the first week after birth, your newborn is only able to view objects that are present at a distance of about 8 to 12 inches from his eyes. This is about the distance from baby’s face to your face and hands. Also, your infant has a blurry view of things in the first week. So, your baby holds his gaze for a few seconds at your hands when they are at 8-12 inches from his face.
2. Baby Experiences Transformation From Black and White To Colourful Vision
Your newborn views objects and surroundings only in black and white colours and some shades of grey soon after his birth. As your baby grows, his vision develops into colour vision. Your baby finds various contrasting colours and different geometric patterns completely new to view so he stares at them. Your baby may develop good colour vision by four months and you can find him staring at your hands and various other colourful objects in his surroundings.
3. Baby Is Widening His Visual Sphere
As your infant grows 2 to 3-months-old and more, his vision and brain develops significantly thus offering him a broader visual sphere. At this stage, your little one develops stronger eye muscles than before. This helps him look for the details of any object that comes in front of him. So, when you bring your hands in front of your infant’s face, your baby will stare at them, taking in the details, such as your hand and finger movements. You will also find your little one gazing at his own hands
4. Baby Is Now Recognising Things
By the time your baby turns 3 to 6 months old, he begins recognizing familiar faces and toys that he sees regularly. Even if your baby cannot call to you at this age, your face, hands, and toys that he sees regularly are familiar to him. So, when you bring your face or hands in front of his face, your baby finds it familiar and stares at it happily with a smiling face.
5. Baby Now Has Improved Depth Perception
When your infant turns 3 to 6 months old, his perception ability improves substantially and he can view objects and people located farther away (about three feet away). Your baby develops depth perception that helps him gaze at objects better. When you bring your face or hands in front of your baby’s face, he enjoys staring at you and your hands till you move away. This is because his gaze can now linger.
There! Now whenever you find your baby staring at your hands or his hands without shifting his gaze, be rest assured that it is absolutely normal! Read more

Importance of Blocks and Construction Toys for Preschoolers
Children playing with building blocks and construction toys stand to benefit greatly. How? It allows them to think outside the box when solving problems. The colours, shapes and sizes contribute towards a wholesome learning experience. It also sets the foundation for him to excel at maths and logic in school.
Keep the i-Pad away and ensure your child plays with building blocks instead. Playing with these toys will benefit your child greatly, considering he will be joining school soon. Make block and construction play fun for him. He will soon find new ways to integrate the toys in different scenarios.
Benefits Of Block Play In Early Childhood
1. Builds Social Interaction
When your kids create “masterpieces” from blocks and construction toys, they may want to show them off. Working with other kids builds social interaction. Your child also stands to understand directions better while explaining things. Building objects together with blocks or construction toys also helps develop team spirit. Your little one and his group of friends will work together to complete the task. Thus, investing in preschool building blocks is always a good idea.
2. Boosts Problem-Solving Skills
Construction or block toys boost hand-eye coordination. This will happen gradually as your child learns to grasp, collect, and move the blocks or construction toys. They may also compare the many pieces of construction toys before actually building something. This will enable them to distinguish between same and different. When your kid joins school, his ability to count the pieces will improve his maths skills. Building blocks for maths comes in handy! Not only that, his reading and understanding abilities will also improve as he tackles the construction pieces to build something. In fact, block play and child development go hand in hand.
3. Improves Spatial Skills
Studies prove that spatial skills improve as a result of construction play. In fact, children who engage in building complex structures with the pieces perform better on spatial intelligence tests. The building blocks and construction toys will encourage your child to test spatial relationships in addition to rotating objects in his mind’s eye. Continuous practice will allow your child to develop superior spatial abilities. Puzzles and board games are the perfect toys that help children develop spatial skills. Why are board games helpful? They allow your kid to plan, handle winning and losing while also improving spatial skills. When he starts playing board games with you, it will improve communication. Board games can be used to develop social skills.
Encourage your child to spend time playing with puzzles. Solve puzzles together as well as encourage him to make them on his own. Therefore, children playing with building blocks is never a waste of time. In no time, your preschooler will find new and creative ways to solve problems. Therefore, block and construction play doesn't only provide ‘mechanical’ excellence. It stimulates the brain significantly. Start early and notice how your child’s cognitive skills improve over a period of time. Read more

This Dad and Daughter Team Just Set an Unbelievable Guinness World Record
When you're a parent, you need to give up on a lot of dreams and passions, right? Well, if you have a child like this little cutie pie here, your dreams may just get infused with a fresh lease of life! Find out how a daughter helped her Dad set a world record you wouldn't think possible.
It was a fine Saturday morning in Houston city and little Holland was chilling with her Dad, Mom and 3-year-old sister. But then Dad told her he was participating in the Katy Half Marathon in Katy, Texas. They were going to be in it together!
Marathons are hard. But stroller marathons? They are infinitely harder, considering the safety precautions to be met, consistency to be maintained, and your tiny team-mate's often sporadic support. But not here. Holland came across as a professional runner, much like her Dad, and you wouldn't believe the extent of support she provided to his endeavour!
In fact, what is the most surprising here is that this little moppet was clapping and babbling for almost the entire run! It was only right towards the end that she fussed a little. Wondering why? Yes, her Mommy had wrapped her up really well and she was all snug, but we think the real reason is different – she knew what a significant part she had to play in Daddy's win, and she was willing to go all the way to support him!
Little Holland became the first competitor to cross the finish line. Her father had just set a new Guinness world record for pending stroller half marathon. It now stands at 1:11:27, shattering the existing record of 1:13:50. He had surpassed the record by more than two minutes and won the race by nearly six minutes!
When the medal was being placed around his neck, Daddy grabbed it and crowned his darling daughter instead. The whole family was in a joyous mood, and no wonder. They had just created a special father-daughter moment that would remain with them for several years to come.
