Birth of a Baby is Rebirth of a Mother
At the of 30, when I became pregnant for my first baby, I definitely had ego and thought I knew everything about pregnancy and baby care. But I learnt the reality in a hard manner. Due to unforeseen reasons I ended up in C-section. That was the first incident, my ego shattered. But I accepted it as it was necessary to save my baby who went into hypoglycemic coma soon after birth. No breastfeeding and only IV fluids, the next heartbreaking news. Many relatives were passing sarcastic comments and for the first time I remained silent, the only thing my mouth did was to pray for my baby. My prayers were answered.
Thanks to the almighty and few well wishers. Everyday I had doubts on parenting. " You have Inadequate breast milk because of elder age, gestational diabetes, C-section." When baby cries"you ate legumes. Your milk is not digestible for baby. Give kashayam" there were so many negative comments and suggestions around me,I felt like am unworthy of living with so many mistakes and I can never be a perfect mom. But God is great. I had huge support from my parents and spouse. I visited a lactation consultant and changed my feeding position, my baby started gaining weight, stopped all top up feeds.
My mom told me about parenting app and I chose first cry, that was actually my last cry with doubts and threatening suggestions. Whenever I get a doubt I see it in firstcry, so many mothers give their valuable experience and health experts give scientific explanation and better practical ways to tackle everything. I am a proud and confident mother now. Whatever suggestion others give, I don't mind, because she is mine. I may not be a perfect mother but I am my daughter's world and she is mine. Thank you firstcry and all parents.

Effective Tips to Enhance Critical Thinking Skills in Kids
Is it important for your child to think critically? Yes, it is! Not only is it important for your child to learn from what is taught to him, but it is equally important for a child to analyze, contrast, compare and make interferences of the things that are taught to him. Therefore, there are no second thoughts regarding the importance of critical thinking in a child’s educational development. However, if you are wondering how to enhance your kid’s critical thinking skills, you should read the following article to know some effective tips for enhancing the critical thinking skills of your kid.
What is Critical Thinking?
What exactly is critical thinking definition for kids? Well, critical thinking may involve your kid’s ability to think rationally and clearly as it engages your kid in independent and reflective thinking. It is not only gathering and remembering information; rather it is vaster than that. It involves your kid to deduce consequences from his learning and then make use of that information or look for other sources to solve various problems.
Why is it Important to Teach Critical Thinking Skills to Children?
Following are some reasons that may explain to you that why critical thinking skills in early childhood education are important:
It may help in expanding your kid’s knowledge because if your kid is vested deeply into some topic, it will help him gain better knowledge and develop his passion.
It may help your kid to make more sense of the world around him.
It may help your kid in making valuable judgements and also figure out things that may not make so much sense.
It may help your kid to excel in solving various problems.
It may help your kid to become independent thinkers and they may soon take their own sensible decisions.
It may help improve your kid’s academic performance.
It may help enhance your kid’s creative streak.
It may help your kid to have a better understanding and relationship with the peers.
How to Develop Critical Thinking Skills in a Child?
If you are looking out for ways of teaching kids critical thinking skills or looking out for critical thinking activities for kids, the following tips may help:
1. Solving Riddles
As simple as it may sound but asking riddles is not only a fun activity but it is also a great problem-solving activity for your child. This activity helps your kid to analyze information too.
2. Newspaper Reading
Encouraging your kid to read the newspaper on regular basis not only helps in keeping him well-versed with the world but it is also a great way of putting your little one’s mind at work. You may tell him to read a few articles and ask what he may have understood or assimilated from it.
3. Reading Books
You may encourage your kid to read books as this is a great way of making your kid analyze various situations. After your kid is through with the book, you may ask him to summarize it for you. You may ask him about various characters and situations from the book.
4. Inculcate Good Listening Skills
In order to be a good thinker, it is very important that your kid is a good listener too. This means that your kid should listen to and value the opinion of the other person and then keeps his view forward.
5. Helping Them Understand What’s True and What’s Fake
In today’s media and social media frenzied world, it is very difficult to determine what may be true and what may be a sheer rumour. Here comes the need of doubt, which means that your child may have to learn to practise ‘doubt’ where he feels the information may or may not be true.
6. Talking About Implications
Teaching your kid the probable and possible conclusions of a particular action, is also an important aspect of critical thinking. This means teaching your kid, what will happen if a certain decision is made or not made.
7. Discuss More with Your Kid
You may think that a child’s opinion may not matter but it does and it holds more value to your kid than to you because it instigates his thinking. Ask your kid for his advice, opinion or suggestions on various day to day issues of the house.
8. Ask ‘Why’
This means asking more questions and then expecting your kid to give reasons for the answers too. For example, if your kid is mad at his friend for taking his pencil without his knowledge and your kid feels that his friend is wrong, you should ask him why he thinks that it is wrong and also what did he expect from his friend.
9. Do Not Jump to Solve Problems for Your Child
As parents, you may have the innate urge to iron out everything for your child and same may apply when there comes a time when your kid needs to make his own decisions. Let your child deal with his problems and come out with solutions on his own. However, you may guide him when you feel your kid is stuck.
10. Free Play Activities
This is a great way of teaching creative skills to your child. You may give him toys or props that may not guide your kid what to do but he may have to think on his own as to what he should do. For example, you may give building blocks to your child and he may make anything that he wishes to make with it or alternatively you may give your kid a drawing book and let him express his emotions and feelings on the paper.
It is not a tedious task to teach creative thinking skills to your child, however, we recommend that you begin teaching this concept from a young age.

How to Make Your Baby Brainy and Smart in All Ways
I am sharing a few words about my daughter's activities of brain development in 1 year 3 months.
When she was 1.3 years old, she started putting rings in the cone accurately from biggest to smallest. (Motor skills). Then I started buying some brain development activities for 2-year-old baby for developing cognitive development. She used to do these kinds of toys in 1.5 years itself. For making her smart from the age of 6 months itself I started showing her black and white contrast videos for visual development and showing some right brain education videos. And also giving brain development foods like walnuts, almonds, broccoli, etc. That's giving my daughter a good result.
Now my baby is just 1.7 years old. But she is saying more 50 words and she is playing tangram puzzle on mobile which is placing correct shapes in right place. For developing brain activities I bought stacking cups, nuts and bolts, puzzle ball, pegging game, pipe cleaners, wooden tangram, wooden shapes, wooden fruits, vegetable, wild animals, ABC, etc.
For developing her creativity, I used to buy clay and finger paint. For entertainment, I used to buy drums, xylophone, piano etc.
In phone, I used to show spark abilities, olives word, cocomelon rhymes. And also making her reading practices, I used to buy brown bear, hungry caterpillar books. For numerical ability, I used to buy beat maze, abacus beats, sakaro geometry etc.
Usually, I take my child out for play area for swing, slide, climbing. She loves to play these things. And she tried to swim in the kids pool. There also she was trying to push her legs in the right manner.
These activities also make her more enjoyable. If we search brain development activities for babies online, you will find many things. But you should be aware of choosing things for the baby. I usually search international baby development activities pages. I am eager to give more activities to her.

Simple Yet Effective Ways to Make Toddlers Eat Healthy and Nutritious Foods
As a mother to a super active daughter, the foremost concern was to ensure a daily nutritious diet for her to gain healthy weight. From the day we introduced solid food to her, I started giving her fresh, home-cooked meals with nutritional varieties. Though ready-to-eat foods were also kept as a backup to bring some change in the palate, thankfully, she never preferred the taste and resisted them every time I tried to feed.
Your kid must develop healthy eating habits from the beginning as they will be carried forward for a longer time in their growing years. Sometimes due to unforeseen and unavoidable reasons, preparing a fresh meal can take a back seat. But during that phase, too, I pushed myself to make something quick. Like most toddlers, my little one was also not very fond of eating vegetables; however, I made sure she consumed them in the form of fresh juices and soups. Until now, I have ensured adding seasonal fruits and vegetables in different forms to her regular diet.
Raising a child with good food habits can be a mammoth task, but this can easily be achieved if we try to inculcate the following practices.
Try not to force-feed the baby as it might act as a booster for resistance to food
Make eating a fun time. Keep talking and playing with the baby to make this time interesting for them.
Do not run around while feeding. Sit at the dining table or a quieter place with a minimum distraction.
Initially, include all types of vegetables and fruits in the diet as it will help you find out their favorite foods, along with the ones they do not prefer. Try different cooking methods and recipes to prepare the dishes to make them more interesting for your child.
Do not give up if the child resists one food initially. Take a break and add the same item again in their meals after a few days. Their taste buds keep changing as they grow up.
Never compare your child’s development milestones with that of other children. Every baby is different, and comparing would mean stressing yourself and putting pressure on the child.
As long as possible, avoid giving sweets and packaged foods. After a certain age, it won’t be easy to control them from eating junk, therefore keep them as treats only once a week/month, even then after they turn two years of age.
Politely make the relatives or the visitors understand not to directly give packaged foods (chocolates, chips, candies, etc.) to them as they quickly become smart enough to know how and from whom to extort junk foods.
After a year of introducing solid foods, try to eat as a family together to exhibit the importance of family time, and the child will develop a habit of smart eating.
Kids follow their parents a lot. Therefore, make sure you too eat healthy food and snacks.
Involve your kids in grocery shopping and preparing food at home to build their interest and involvement.
Intake of adequate nutrition from childhood is critical not only for physical growth but also for mental development. Acquiring healthy eating habits is directly proportional to a long and wholesome life.
