Know Your Baby’s Personality Based on Birth Month
Personality traits based on the birth month are universal around the world. Many believe that the month in which a baby is born can say a lot about her personality and even determine her future decisions. Whether you believe in it or not, reading a birth month personality chart about your baby’s personality traits is fun and can give you some insight into your little angel’s personality traits. Read on to know some of your baby’s unique characteristics according to her birth month.
Know Your Baby’s Personality Based On Their Birth Month
Your baby’s personality can be influenced by a number of factors, right from how you raise her to the type of schooling she receives. However, you can’t deny that everyone has some inborn traits that determine how they function. So, for instance, if your baby tends to get fussy around strangers or constantly wants to explore her surroundings, you could definitely attribute some of it to her personality traits based on the birth month. Here’s what your child’s birth month says about her.
1. January Babies: The Independent Ones
Your baby will crave independence very early on, so get used to hearing the words ‘I will do’ often. She also loves attention and will expect you to applaud every time she achieves a milestone. Not doing so will bring out her sensitive, fussy nature, so beware. Your baby will be ambitious and motivated to be successful, which means you’ll probably spend less time forcing her to complete her homework and more time encouraging her to have some fun.
Babies born in January personality traits: Hardworking, fussy, sensitive, down-to-earth, stubborn, and charming.
2. February Babies: The Compassionate Ones
February is the month of love and that’s just what your baby is; a big bundle of love. Sensitive to other’s needs and incredibly caring, your baby will have no problems sharing her food and toys with others. While she’s shy, goal-oriented, and humble, she may get aggressive when restricted, so you may need to use some tact to get her to sleep or stay in one place during feeds.
Babies born in February personality traits: Empathetic, sensible, caring, intelligent, ambitious, and shy.
3. March Babies: The Peaceful Ones
A March baby’s favourite toy is her imagination. Leave her alone, and she’ll be off to her dreamland, playing dress-up, and having a ball of a time by herself. Usually quiet and reserved, babies born in this month are creative and emotional and often crave their own safe space. Don’t mistake their aloofness with the outside world for laziness, though, as they’re observant, ambitious and believe in their creative talent enough to see it through. Teach your child to speak out what she’s thinking, and come up with a way to deflect the monsters-under-the-bed fear while you’re at it.
Babies born in March personality traits: Intuitive, creative, emotional, generous, shy, and trustworthy.
4. April Babies: The Dynamic Ones
You know the people who have a large group of friends around them? They’re most likely April kids. Oozing with energy and generally talkative and social, you’re baby is sure to keep you on your feet, whether it's by running after her on the playground or having a LONG list of friends to invite for birthdays. Congratulations, your life won’t ever be boring again, as you’ve birthed a generous, positive, and stubborn little human being who just won’t sit still.
Babies born in April personality traits: Outgoing, smart, fearless, stubborn, caring, and confident.
5. May Babies: The Strong-Willed Ones
May babies are stubborn, firm, and have deep emotions. They can be quite hot-headed and get worked up easily, so it's advisable to let their anger wear off by itself. Your baby will be moderately social, but also crave moments of solitude where she can be creative. May babies love reading and writing, and often take up creative careers. Your baby is also reliable and organised, ready to take responsibility. She will also appreciate the finer things in life, so splurge on some food and toys once in a while, and she’ll be more than happy.
Babies born in May personality traits: Stubborn, hardworking, short-tempered, loyal, creative, and consistent.
6. June Babies: The Affectionate Ones
Always up for a cuddle, June babies have an infectious smile and laughter. They have a charismatic personality and love making friends and exploring the world outside. Your baby will be kind-hearted and always fun to be around, but she can also be sensitive and emotional. She may also get bored quite fast and get antsy, but don’t give in to it. Instead, teach her to maintain consistency.
Babies born in June personality traits: Witty, intelligent, outgoing, charming, sensitive, and chatty.
7. July Babies: The Ambitious Ones
Your July-born baby will most likely love answering questions more than asking them, as she loves showing off her knowledge. There’s no better word than ‘sassy’ to describe July babies, as they’re brutally honest and not afraid to tell the truth. Your baby will be ambitious and hard-working, but caring and compassionate towards her loved ones at the same time. Prepare for some mood swings coming your way, especially if you don’t give your baby the desired attention.
Babies born in July personality traits: Smart, humourous, honest, sensitive, caring, unpredictable.
8. August Babies: The Easy-Going Ones
The happy-chappies of the bunch, August babies always have a smile on their face and are most likely to make those cute gurgly sounds at anyone they remotely like. Your baby will be enthusiastic and positive and is likely to receive tons of love in return. She loves attention and will merely direct you to praise her if you don’t, rather than throwing a tantrum. August babies are successful and hardworking and shower the people around them with loads of love.
Babies born in August personality traits: Friendly, caring, sympathetic, optimistic, independent, highly-motivated.
9. September Babies: The Organised Ones
Creating a routine for your September-born baby will be the best thing you do yet, not just for yourself, but for your little one too. Your baby is likely to thrive in an organised environment, rather than a chaotic one, and can get worked up at the slightest disruption. However, you’ll never have to worry about messy rooms, oversleeping, or demotivation, as your little one will be self-motivated and possibly even more organised than you.
Babies born in September personality traits: Intelligent, calm, organised, hardworking, emotional, sociable.
10. October Babies: The Persuasive Ones
With their charming personality, October babies are born lawyers and debaters, and usually have no trouble moving an audience. Your baby will be easy to talk to and sociable and generally give out a positive, feel-good vibe. She will also be analytical and have balanced thinking, along with an inclination for negotiations, so a little bribery here and there won’t hurt to get through to her.
Babies born in October personality traits: Fair, loyal, positive, opinionated, smart, and outgoing.
11. November Babies: The Creative Ones
Born thinkers, November babies usually hit their milestones early, and love any activities that harness their creativity. Buy open-ended games for your little one, and you’ll see her work hard at understanding the toy and building new things, the fondness for which will extend to solving puzzles or reading a good mystery novel. Though she has a sociable personality, she enjoys her alone time at the end of the day, so give her some time by herself to decompress and lighten her mood. Your baby is also emotional, yet independent, and stands out in a crowd.
Babies born in November personality traits: Intelligent, creative, secretive, hardworking, intuitive, caring.
12. December Babies: The Outgoing Ones
Who could be more fun than a baby born during the holiday season? Funny, outgoing, and incredibly active, December babies love being entertained, but can also get bored quite easily. This means endless funny faces and games, but you’ll have a blast parenting her once you get into the swing of things. She is also ambitious and hardworking, and love learning something new. Your baby will be ever curious and love meeting new people and travelling across the world, so get ready for the adventure of a lifetime with your little one in tow!
Babies born in December personality traits: Competitive, ambitious, friendly, curious, caring, and generous.
Knowing a little bit about your baby’s personality can never be a bad thing, especially since none of these traits are set in stone. After all, there are so many factors that go into shaping a baby’s personality. So, love and celebrate your little one for the way she is, and perhaps the above characteristics may help you understand her a little better!

Baby Puts Everything in Mouth - Reasons and Tips to Stop
A baby will explore his environment and learn from it. As the baby’s immune system develops and adjusts during the first year, the young one will use all senses, that is, smell, touch, see, taste and hearing. With those tiny hands, the baby will first grasp and then move the hand straight into the mouth. This process of exploration is called ‘mouthing’ and is perfectly normal. Let’s look at why they do this, what are the risks of doing so and what precautions should be taken in this phase.
Why Do Babies Put Everything in Their Mouth?
In the first year, with your baby putting toys in the mouth, you are sure to be concerned and will try to prevent it. However, the mouthing process is perfectly normal and means that the baby is learning to explore, taste, see, touching, hold, hear, smell and lick everything. The mouth and hands are baby’s ways of exploring and learning about different shapes, textures, materials, odours, tastes, sounds and so much more.
Are you wondering when do babies start putting things in the mouth? Young babies try to put their fists in the mouth. Maybe even their feet! It is fine until they are about 7 months old. Then they are in control of their hands and use their mouth to explore. Slowly the flailing hands start to grasp objects and then control them to move it into the mouth. The process of exploration moves into reaching, shoving, grabbing, swatting, patting and so on. They learn what tastes good and what doesn’t and have the most divine fun exploring even yucky things that mothers would never dream of putting in baby’s mouth.
Babies also learn to suck on the thumb which is their way of communicating and responding to stimuli like hunger, boredom and so on. Most mothers discourage this habit and rightly so as prolonged thumb sucking can have many negative effects.
What Are the Possible Risks of Putting things in Mouth?
Baby can choke on its positive journey of explorations. The not-so-easy thing to do is to ensure that small objects cannot be reached by those tiny hands. Get down on the floor at baby’s eye levels and look around at what objects are harmful. A thumb-rule to follow is to ensure that objects that pass through a toilet-paper tube are unsafe. Rough-edged objects, toys that can be broken into pieces, glass objects, the pet’s food bowl, standing buckets of water etc will be explored and can lead to scratches, bruises, and even accidents.
Yes, mouthing cannot be prevented. During the process babies even lick objects on the floor. The best way to prevent infections is cleanliness and frequently cleaning floors, toys and surfaces baby is in touch with. Don’t worry about it as infections are caused by viruses and bacteria that an ailing person has.
Since this phase has many positive outcomes just ensure that your baby doesn’t share toys with a sick child. Clean and wash all toys, linen, and surfaces with a mild disinfectant and encourage the little one to play in groups. They learn while having fun to touch faces, bump their noses, give kisses, taste everything from blankets, their clothes and whatever catches their imagination. Group play and supervised exploration is the key to a safe mouthing phase. A little bit of dust and germs that cannot be prevented won’t make the baby sick.
When Do Babies Stop Putting Everything in the Mouth?
Starting as early as 7 to 12 months, babies start mouthing objects. Normally by the age of two years, fingers are used to explore. And by the age of three, most children would have stopped putting objects into their mouths. If your child is still getting everything into his mouth and sucking his thumb at the age of 4 years you must check with the doctor to build in corrective practices.
Precautions to Take During The Mouthing Phase
With your baby chewing on everything here are some precautions for a safe and not obsessive parenting experience.
1. Clear out small objects
Check, recheck and remove any mouth-sized objects from baby’s reach. (Loose change, pet food bowl, small toys, marbles and anything that can fit into baby’s mouth). You will also need to clear out chemicals, cosmetics, and the like that can be potentially dangerous.
2. Rely on positive reinforcement
Do not yell at your baby if he is about to put something into his mouth that isn't safe. Instead, replace it with something that is safe.
3. Practice 'no'
It is best to teach your baby what 'No' means so that he can stop mouthing things when he is asked to.
4. Teethers
It is very likely that baby's put things in their mouth to chew due to teething. To prevent this you can get some teething rings and give them to him. You can also freeze them to give your little one relief from the teething pain.
The mouthing phase lasts a little while and can be made into a safe exploratory journey for both you and the baby. Enjoy this communicative and exploratory phase with a not very obsessive germ-phobic attitude and all will be well.

15 Fascinating Facts about Frogs for Kids
Children love knowing more about fascinating creatures and frogs are one of them! Frogs are an amazing species, and they are excellent indicators of the environment quality. Check out this list of interesting frog facts.
15 Interesting Frogs Facts for Children
Frogs belong to the family Ranidae, which has more than 400 species. They are tailless amphibians. Amphibians are cold-blooded vertebrate animals, and they can exist in both water and land. Frogs differ from reptiles because they do not have scaled skin and most of them return to the water for breeding.
Frogs lay their eggs in the water. The eggs hatch and then they become tadpoles. These tadpoles have long tails to swim and can breathe through their gills. The tadpoles slowly change into a frog, and they live in the water until then. This is an interesting frog cycle for kids.
Antarctica is the only continent where frogs cannot be found. There are so many members present in the frog family such as common frog, bullfrog, leopard frog, green frog, marsh frog, wood frog, and pickerel frog. Toads are found in every country except the Polar Regions, Australia, Polynesia, and Madagascar.
Just like a human’s tongue, the tongue of a frog is not attached to the back of its mouth. The tongue is attached to the front where the frog can extend the tongue out further. The frog makes use of the sticky coating on the tongue to catch its prey.
Every toad is basically a frog. More than 300 species of toads currently live on this planet. Frogs have bodies that are stubby with short hind legs which allow them to hop instead of walk. These toads have dry and warty skin, and they usually prefer dryer climates. Poison glands are also present behind their eyes.
Frogs have the ability to hibernate. In extreme conditions, they could also enter torpor, a state which can last for several months.
The biggest frog is the Goliath Frog. They are found in Cameroon, West Africa. The bodies of these frogs can reach the size of about a foot (30 cm). They even have long feet.
Many species of toads and frogs can live for around 4 to 15 years. European Common Toad has the longest lifespan. One of these frogs lived to become 40 years old. It takes a typical pond frog three years to become mature and then it will be ready to breed.
Frogs have bulging eyes. They also have long, strong, webbed hind feet which are adapted for swimming and leaping. They have big round ears called tympanum on the sides of their head. Sounds are made by male frogs by squeezing their lungs with the help of their nostrils and closing their mouths. Air flows into their vocal sacs over their vocal cords blowing the sacs up like a bubble gum balloon.
Frogs have a visual field of almost 360° so they can look around them all the time.
Frogs are considered to be prey in the wild by many animals and do not live a very long life. This is why some frogs, to protect themselves from predators, have a coating on their skin. Most of the time, this coating is poisonous. Many tribal cultures in the forest use this coating for battle by putting the poison on their spear tips.
Frogs get oxygen when the skin is moist, which is why they need to take care of their skin to avoid being suffocated. Some frogs have slimy skin because the skin secretes mucus to keep it moist.
Though they have the slimy skin, they need to be around water. But toads have a tougher skin which does not dry fast allowing them to live farther away from water when compared to most frogs.
Once a week, the frog will completely shed its skin. It usually eats the skin after pulling it off.
Frog legs are eaten by people in many parts of the world. In Asia, they are consumed in Vietnam, China, Indonesia, and Thailand.
Frogs are a true sign of a proper and well-balanced ecosystem. Pollution is the biggest enemy of frogs. With this frog information for kids, the kids will definitely learn something new and interesting.

10 Simple Ways to Teach Responsibility to Kids
Responsibility in itself is quite a tough life skill to teach, whether it is to a kid or even an adult. You might come across a number of men and women who have yet to take full responsibility for their lives as well as their dependents. Unlike other aspects of an individual’s personality, responsibility is like exercising a muscle. The earlier you begin working on it, the easier it becomes to naturally rely on the same, which is why it is necessary for you as a parent to start cultivating the foundation of that attitude in your child from an early age.
What To Expect From Your Child At This Age?
The responsibility of a child at home and in various aspects of his life differ from age to age. Not all kids can pick up tasks off the bat and some take a really long time in coming to terms with this concept.
For kids who are in grade school, they can be well aware of taking care of small chores around the house, such as keeping things in their right place or taking out the trash. This can translate to a social behaviour outside as well where they ensure to throw rubbish only in the dustbins and not on the road. Even at this age, kids do require reminders from time to time to stick to the promises they made. So it is best not to be too harsh about it if they stumble during this course.
How To Make Your Child Responsible?
There are a number of activities to teach responsibility to kids which you can use in order to shift your child towards the realm of handling tasks and being aware of what’s riding on his shoulders.
1. Change Of Tactic
Most parents rely heavily on telling their children to do exactly what they want them to do. Kids listen to that but fail to develop it as a habit. For example, your child returns home from school and throws his bag on the couch, and he keeps it in the right place only after you tell him. This goes on continuously without him developing the habit to keep it by himself. A change can be made by making him repeat the entire procedure of taking the bag outside and entering back in and keeping it appropriately. A connection can help him develop a habit.
2. Understanding Prioritization
One life skill that takes children a long time to understand is to realize which task is more important than the other. Prioritization is the need of the hour in today’s life, with a number of tasks and responsibilities making themselves aware to us. Teach him why completing an important task first is necessary and frees up the time to do other things. Be polite and firm in making sure it is executed correctly, such as getting him to clean his room before he heads out to play with his friends.
3. Being Independent
Some parents have a very high tendency of hand-holding and constantly telling their kids the right way of doing things. This robs them of the learning process where they will make mistakes or do things the wrong way and then figure it out how to do it right. Monitor your child but don’t interfere in his process. Let him do it in his own way even if that might not be the most efficient. Over time, he will figure it out the right way or come to you for help when he feels like it or even finds out a completely different way of getting it done.
4. Reward Responsible Behaviour
Kids do require a longer time to realise that being responsible is a necessary trait of life. Until then, they usually view it as one of their duties towards developing good behaviour. Nevertheless, don’t forget to acknowledge their efforts and set in a reward system of sorts. This could be on a weekly basis where you keep track of the times your child took care of his own chores or helped around the house responsibly and give him points on that basis. He can use those points for a treat over the weekend or opt for choosing a location for a picnic.
5. Words Of Encouragement
As much as tangible rewards can get your kid excited, nothing beats words of encouragement and acknowledgement that come from parents. Rewards are usually temporary and lose their allure once they are consumed. But as parents, whatever we say to our kids stays with them for a lifetime and shapes their behaviour subconsciously. Let your child know that you are aware of his efforts and that you are proud of him.
6. Get Your Kid Involved
The responsibility of your child should not be purely restricted to his own chores or tasks. Let him feel like a part of the house and that his efforts do count towards keeping it going well. Even if it is a complex activity, ask your kid to help you out with tiny things like getting some tools, or helping you hold the chair or the stool, and so on. In certain aspects, feel free to ask your child’s opinion if a colour suits better than the other, or what fruits should we buy from the grocery today.
7. Age-Wise Assignment
You can’t expect a 3-year-old to help you out with cleaning your vehicle or assist in grocery shopping. But you can definitely ask him to gather his toys together and put them in the box after he is done playing. Give your child tasks and responsibilities based on how old he is and how responsible he already is. Some kids are quite excited to handle numerous chores and will ask you for more. Start giving them complex ones gradually as well.
8. Approve And Support Honest Behaviour
With responsibility comes the risk of inability to fulfil it and the consequences of failing to do so completely. This is all a part and parcel of life and your kids should not develop a fear of carrying out an activity, lest they fail to do it the right way. Maintain an open and honest channel of communication that allows your child to ask you for your help or tell you honestly that he was unable to do the task assigned to him. Don’t reprimand him for it, instead tell him you are proud he is brave and honest enough to tell you about it.
9. Lead By Example
There is a reason why the idioms “like father, like son” or “like mother, like daughter” exist in our language. Our children are a reflection of who we are and how we have brought them up. Kids learn the most of what needs to be done in life by listening to their parents as well as by seeing how parents behave in real life. So, to make sure your children are responsible adults in the future, it is necessary for you to be a responsible adult in the present as well.
10. Clarify The Connections
At a young age, the concept of causality and every action having a consequence can be quite confusing for kids to understand. They might interpret things as taking place on their own. It is important for parents to establish these links, for both good as well as bad results. Let them understand that your home garden is flourishing because the kid made sure to water the plants every day and remove the weeds. Let them also know that they fared poorly on the test because they spent the entire week playing video games instead of studying.
Apart from various techniques and games to teach responsibility to kids, one of the key aspects to instil this attitude and make it stick for a lifetime is to help kids develop a strong conscience over time. When this finally starts emerging from within, the child will undergo a change as a person and be responsible will be as natural as breathing air.

#Postpartum Depression is Real
How my struggles with breastfeeding turned motherhood into a raw, emotionally draining roller coaster for me
After my first delivery, it took me a year to get out of the "baby blues". Feelings of sadness and anxiety were so extreme, I found myself weeping at social gatherings too. You would find me lost in my thoughts and feeling emotionally insecure. My inability to calm my crying baby and get her to latch in the beginning left me feeling I wasn't fit to be a mother. My daughter was skinny and I constantly blamed myself for maybe not doing enough. I felt a lot of pressure to exclusively breastfeed her and I wish someone would have told me "It's OK. Struggling to nurse is very common. It doesn't mean you are a bad mother. It's OK to supplement with formula if that's what your baby needs." Every instinct in me told me my baby needed top ups, but everyone around scared me about the negative effects of formula.
Never once did I feel I wanted to end my life, but I battled body image issues and the struggle to feed my child left me exhausted. Delivery takes a toll on a woman's body. And soon enough, I stopped feeling beautiful and felt like less of a woman.
Thank god for my husband who was my emotional anchor as he patiently dealt with my sadness and rage.
Looking back, what I wish I did differently was to seek help when I needed it the most. As a friend rightly said, it felt like you weren't living upto the "good mum" ideal if you took help from your family to handle your baby even for a bit. Help starts with talking to friends and family and trying to get better sleep. Lack of sleep leaves you confused and soon your depression spirals out of control.
With the birth of my second daughter, I feel I have been truly healed. Being more prepared this time, I found myself more composed. I now understand the importance to be kind and gentle to myself, and not to overwhelm myself intentionally. We are taking care of tiny humans who require all our time and energy. Motherhood isn't about being perfect. It's about accepting oneself, our children and enjoying the every day moments. Doesn't matter if it isn't always as we expected. Read more
