Parent Child Relationship - Tips to Develop Healthy Bonding
Parent-child relationships are one of the major parts of a family. You must have a healthy bonding with your kids to understand and help them. This also helps to keep the family together and happy. Parent-child relationships help with the physical, social and emotional development of the child. Studies indicate that a healthy parent-child relationship will create positive outcomes for the children and the family.
Importance of Good Parent-Child Relationship
It is clear that parent-child relationships are the best way to keep your kids on track. But there are many more benefits to the same.
Helps to develop a happy and content relationship with others in life
The secure relation with parents helps to regulate emotions in difficult times
Helps the child to be optimistic and confident
Promotes child’s mental, emotional development
Parent’s interaction promotes social and academic skills
Helps promote problem-solving skills
Keep in mind to avoid parent-child relationship problems with a proper approach to parenting. You have to keep a strong bond with your kids from the beginning. But you should learn to make them flexible as the time makes changes. You can’t behave with a two-year-old and ten-year-old the same way.
Tips for Building a Positive Parent-Children Relationship
As you have noticed, a parent-child relationship is very important in the life of your kids. To have a healthy relationship with them, you need to be responsive, trustworthy and loving. Let’s go through a few tips to improve your relationship with your kids. A bad parent-child relationship can easily be solved by following the tips mentioned below:
1. Start from the Beginning
Bonding of a mother starts during the pregnancy period itself. The special period helps to create a strong bond between them. As for the father, they have to get involved in their early days. Studies show that fathers who were involved with the kids in their early days had better bonding later in the life. Thus it is always important to spend time with your child from the beginning itself.
2. Invest Time and Effort
Parents love their kids naturally. The qualitative time and effort is part of showing this love. More time and effort you put into this relationship, stronger the bonding will be. Even though it is better to spend more time with them, you must consider their age before doing so. Teens might need privacy, while younger kids always like to have parental intervention and interaction. So you have to understand what your kids expect you to do to improve the relationship.
3. Prioritise Your Relationship with Your Child
Priority means everything. Your kids should be your top priority, at least at the stages. So you have to spend as much time as possible with them. Making smaller schedules and excuses for your kids may weaken your bonding. Hence, take the effort to put them at the top of your priority.
4. Be Available
When your kids are growing, proper interaction is needed for them to improve their skills. You must be responsive to your child’s needs. This helps to support your kids mentally and will help to strengthen your bond. You should be attentive, loving and able to see things from their perspective during this time.
5. Emphasise
One of the best ways to let you strengthen the relationship is to let the emotions speak. Help your children express their emotions freely. Be empathetic and make it comfortable for them to vent their emotions. This might not be easy to do for a first-time parent, but practice makes perfect. Once you have seen through their perspective more often to understand more about their behaviour, you will be better guided to help them as well.
6. Communication
As a parent, you should have good communication with your child. It should be fair, firm and friendly to keep a positive impact. Always be clear about your expectations, what they can expect from you and restrictions like ground rules. These help to have some control over your child and improve your bonding. You have to control your kids maturely and calmly for a healthy and better future for your kids.
7. Get Involved in Their Studies, Friends, and Activities
More time given to your child can help make stronger bonds. It is noted in a study that the parents who get involved in their child’s life have a stronger parent-child relationship. This part of life involves having more time with them, understanding their academics, and knowing their friends. Staying in touch with their teachers or volunteering at school will impress your kids more.
8. Listen Actively
Most of the kids like to talk about their life more often. They are likely to show this in the early days of school. Always try to listen whatever they are saying. You have to stop whatever you are doing at the time and listen to them. You should maintain eye contact while talking to them as well. This help to let them share more of their time with you.
9. Make Family Time Important
The family is the best part of the life. So have the best of the time together. Have meals together every day and talk about your day with everyone. This helps to improve your family bonding. Family outings, going to movies, events regularly will make some fun time for everyone.
10. Trust Your Child and Be Trustworthy
Trust is the foundation of every relationship. You must always be the trustful parent for them to rely on at any time. Earning this trust is a time taking process in which you must keep promises, give them privacy, and keep them confident.
11. Encourage Your Child
Children are always active in one or the other things. But they always like someone to boost their confidence. Thus you must provide them with encouragement and motivation to build their confidence. When you criticize them on such occasions, they might be confused about themselves. So keep them spirited with your words and support.
12. Respect Your Child
Even though your kids will more or less look to you to establish beliefs and opinions, they might have their own views on certain things. Treat your kids as individuals and acknowledge their opinions. This helps them to be more confident and to share their opinion with others as well.
Facts to Know about the Relationship between Parents and Children
A parent-child relationship can be of many types. This is mainly due to the change in the attitude of both the parents as well kids. Here are some of the types of parent-child relationships.
1. Secure Relationship
This is when the kids are feeling secure with the parents. The care and trust given by the parent helps to provide a great bonding between them
2. Avoidant Relationship
Here the case is the direct opposite. The parent is not responsive to the kids. This leads them to become independent and take care of themselves.
3. Ambivalent Relationship
When the parents have different priorities, this may happen. Parents are responsive at times and will not be available for the kids when they need.
4. Unorganized Relationship
There are some cases where the kids will not get any attention. Kids will learn not to expect from their parents and will have unusual behaviour in social life. This is most likely the case of parents with psychological conditions.
The base of bonding starts from the birth of your child. It has a lot of influence in your child's life and the overall interaction between members of your family. You have to keep in mind that it is always better to understand them and know them better right from the beginning to build a positive relationship.

How to Make Kids Eat Vegetables - Tips for Parents
You give a bowl of broccoli or carrots to your kiddo to munch and your kid may take forever to finish it. Does this sound like it is a story of your household? you're likely not alone - this is a struggle that most moms may be experiencing in their day to day lives. Why is there an aversion for vegetables in some kids and what can you do to make your kid eat his greens? If this is what you have on your mind, we may help you overcome this constant struggle to feed veggies to your child. Read this post for more!
Why is it Important for Children to Eat Vegetables?
With so many options available in the market for junk foods, children seldom pay heed when it comes to eating a nutritious meal that contains vegetables. There is no substitute for vegetables and thus no matter how much your child despises; you may have to find ways and means to feed them to your kid. This is because vegetables are high in essential vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre and anti-oxidants, which are of utmost importance for the proper functioning of various vital organs. Eating veggies may help your kid against many dangerous health ailments too. A well-balanced and healthy diet should include a wide array of vegetables apart from other things, which means your child should eat various kinds and colours of vegetables to attain maximum nutritional benefits. On an average, your child (up to eight years of age) may require up to 2 to 4 servings of vegetables in a day.
Why Some Children Don't Like to Eat Vegetables
You may think that your kid may be the only one making faces at the sheer sight of vegetables. You may be surprised to know that it is very common for children to dislike vegetables. Let us help you solve this mystery, read below to know why your kid dislikes eating vegetables:
We can blame the human evolution for this, strange isn’t it, but it is not. It is believed that human being has evolved to like and prefer sweet-tasting things rather than sour or bitter tasting things.
Your child may cringe while eating Brussels sprouts or other such vegetables because of their peculiar or bitter taste. The presence of calcium and phytonutrients in most vegetables make them bitter and thus unpalatable for children.
Disliking for vegetable may mostly be seen in kids in the age bracket of 2 to 6 years of age. This is because they may develop food neophobia or fear of unknown or new food. This is usually a behavioural problem that kids of this age may experience.
Also, whenever we eat something for the first time, we may not like it and may start liking it after repeated exposure. The same may apply to the kids and as they grow they may start liking their vegetables. It may take 10 to 15 efforts on an average for you to finally make your child accept the taste of a particular vegetable.
How to Get Your Child to Eat Vegetables
Here are tips that may help you make your kid polish off veggies from his plate:
1. Lead By Example
As boring and as clichéd as it may sound but it sure does work. If you snack and eat vegetables for your meals, your kid may do that too. Kids are like monkeys, well, not literally but they like to imitate their parents and siblings.
2. Give Them Time
Do not expect your kid to eat any vegetable that you may offer for the first time. As discussed in the above-section, kids may take time to familiarise and once they may be comfortable with the taste, they may begin eating that veggie.
3. Don't Create a Hullabaloo
Whenever it comes to feeding vegetables, do not make it appear like something grand is going to take place. Make it a regular eating experience and do not threat, bribe or do any such thing to make your kid finish his veggies.
4. Add the Touch of Beauty
Whatever appeals to the eye may appeal to the palate too. This means if you present the vegetables in a boring or drab manner, your kid may not be interested at all. However, if you present the vegetables in an appealing manner, it may grab your kid’s attention for sure. Carve roses out of a carrot or make a mouse from a cucumber and watch your kiddo hog.
5. Give Them Options
This sneak trick may work for sure. Whenever you cook vegetables, try and cook two or more options for your kiddo to choose from. This may give your kid the feeling of independence and he may feel free to choose. Don’t be surprised if he chooses one or more.
6. Use Peer Pressure
Well, peer pressure may not only work in the field of academics but it may also be helpful in making your kiddo eat veggies. Invite friends over for dinner (who like to eat vegetables) and just see how in order to impress his friends or to gain brownie points in front of you, your kid may finish all his veggies.
7. Spice It Up
Kids love to experiment with various tastes and flavours, add some punch and zing to their boring vegetables by adding some dressing, seasonings or dips.
8. Let Them Pick Vegetables
If you are fortunate enough to have a kitchen garden of your own then you may allow your kiddo to pick vegetables. On the other, you may take him to the supermarket with you and let him pick vegetables from the selves. Freshly grown or nicely arranged fresh vegetables are a visual delight and may lure your kid in eating them too.
9. Let Them Starve!
That sounds extreme, but sometimes you have to be strict with your child! If your kid refuses to eat his veggies, do not give him anything else. Whenever he asks for food, give him veggies only. Believe us, when hunger strikes, even a bowl of broccoli tastes like heaven!
10. Let Them Cook
Cooking may excite young children and if you involve them in cooking their vegetables they may be tempted to try out their creation. The entire cooking and eating experience may become one fun experience for your kid.
11. Praise Your Kid
If your kid makes efforts and tries to eat a particular vegetable, make sure you appreciate his efforts. Words of appreciation may pep up your child to try out different vegetables.
12. Experiment With Vegetables
If your kid does not like stir-fried carrots, you may give him the carrots in the form of a soup. In a similar manner, you may change the form of other vegetables too. Sometimes it may be the textures of a particular vegetable may make your child refuse to eat vegetables.
What Parents Should Avoid Doing While Making Their Kids Eat the Veggies
Firstly, we discussed the things for that may be helpful in encouraging a child to eat vegetables and now we shall talk about few things that you may like to avoid to make your kid eat his vegetables or things that you should refrain from doing for getting a toddler to eat vegetables:
1. Do Not Force Feed
You can be insistent but you should not force. Any kind of force-feeding may leave a negative impact on your child and do not be surprised if he may completely refuse to eat his veggies. Let your kid adjust to the new taste and he may eventually start liking the taste.
2. Do Not Give Anything Outside Meals
Refrain from offering anything else in between the meals because a hunger pangs may make your kid relish the veggies.
3. Do Not Prepare Special Meals
Offer your kid what everyone else will be eating. This way you may be snubbing the habit of picky-eating.
4. Do Not Label Your Kid
Refrain from giving any label, tags or names such as fussy-eater, picky-eater etc to your kid. This may give them a reason to stay away from vegetables.
5. Do Not Bribe
Bribing by giving them a candy stick or letting them play a video game may solve the problem in the short run but it may lead to negative association towards food in the longer run.
6. Do Not Sneak the Vegetables in Food
This way you may win a small war but not the big bigger battle of helping your kid develop a healthy habit of eating vegetables.
Hope this post may help in overcoming your vegetable-feeding woes.

Your Baby This Week : 1 Month Week 2 Old
Your baby is learning that he has hands and fingers, feet and toes. He’s also starting to talk more. Not with words, of course, but by cooing, with increasing goos, gurgles, and grunts. This will mark the beginning of language development. Talk to your child often. You will be able to hold his attention through a transition from a low to a high pitch the singsong style that parents in every culture tend to use when talking to a child. Some of you may still have trouble getting your baby to breastfeed correctly. In such a case, it often helps to try out different breast feeding positions.

A Story of a Girl Child
Hello everyone,
Many things run through your head as soon as the pregnancy test comes positive; it's unfortunate, but some people prefer having a male child over a girl. On the screen, that very tiny embryo sliding from one end to the other in the mother's womb is so wonderful to witness, but does it realise what will happen to it? Finally, the date arrives, and nervousness begins to creep in. When the news comes, few people thank God, and many others say, "Oh, it's a girl." Later, they accept her, and some do not. Isn't that sad?
With her brilliant eyes, that infant observes the entire room and tries to recognise her parents. It's thrilling to hold the baby girl in your arms and experience her first cry, touch, and laugh.
Many people consider them a burden since they say so many unpleasant things. They believe that a girl will go to her husband's family one day. These people regard her as a liability rather than a treasure. Every girl should be able to receive an education and feel self-sufficient. She was born from you, and she is a part of you. Never let her be separated from you, even after she marries. When she returns home after her marriage, never let her feel like it is no longer her home. Always remind her that she owns this house.
A daughter is more sensitive when it comes to her parents. She will always take care of them no matter what; daughters have proved themselves and have done wonders in their careers in today's world. They have made their parents proud in the past, and they will continue to do so in the future. God has chosen women to bear children, which is the most beautiful sensation in the world and a position of such honour! How can she be neglected or mistreated when she is the one who is guiding generations forward?
So love your daughter to the moon and back because she is a gift from God, and may God protect all daughters.
