10 Effective Home Remedies for Pink Lips
What could enhance your beauty better than a charming smile? A beautiful smile speaks the language of the soul. Luscious and pink lips will definitely give you the confidence to smile more. It isn’t often, though, that we worry about the health of our lips. The condition of our lips can even give away secrets about our general health to onlookers. Pigmented and chapped lips could be a sign of deeper health issues. Here are a few remedies that can bring the pink of health back to your lips.
What Causes Chapped and Pigmented Lips?
Dry and pigmented lips could be a sign of an underlying health condition. Our lips are very delicate and extremely sensitive to environmental stimuli and harsh weather. Additionally, the lips do not have sweat glands to flush out toxins or retain hydration. Taking extra care of your lips for these reasons is important. Chapped, dry or pigmented lips are caused due to the following reasons:
Dehydration is the main cause of dry lips that eventually become discoloured. Not consuming enough water can lead to dehydration.
Lifestyle choices like processed foods in your diet, smoking, and high levels of stress can induce hyperpigmentation of the lips.
Consumption of an excessive amount of caffeine leads to discolouration of lips.
Expired lip products can be detrimental to skin health.
Utilising products of poor quality with questionable ingredients will also damage your lips.
Sleeping with makeup on can erode the delicate skin on the lips because of the chemical nature of lip makeup.
Lip damage can also happen due to anaemia.
Environmental pollutants, sun and cold air can also cause harm to your lips.
How to Get Pink Lips Naturally at Home?
Protecting yourself from pollutants by wearing lip balm with SPF protection, staying hydrated, and using quality products will go a long way in preventing discolouration of your lips. But if you do happen to have dark and chapped lips, use these natural remedies to regain the pink colour of your lips:

Shea butter- 1 tablespoon

How It Works
Shea butter and beeswax are excellent antioxidants as well as moisturisers. The olive oil is an organic conditioner. Betanin can help restore the reds in your lip.
3. Milk and Turmeric Exfoliator

4. Sugar and Coconut Oil Scrub

6. Cocoa and Chocolate Lip Therapy
As delicious as it sounds, this remedy is charming because it can fight dehydration like a few other ingredients. Could there be a more delicious way to get the gloss back into your lips?
What You Need
Unsweetened dark chocolate- 2 squares of average size
Vitamin E capsule- 1
Cocoa butter- 1 teaspoon
How to Apply
Melt the cocoa butter with the chocolate in a boiler.
When the chocolate melts, add the Vitamin E oil.
Mix well and transfer to a bowl to cool.
Apply a thick layer of this mix on your lips.
Let it stay for 15 minutes.
Wash it off with warm water.
How Often to Use
If you have stored the leftover mix in a clean and dry container, you could use it as a lip balm anytime you feel your lips drying out.
How It Works
The cacao in chocolate has compounds that are rich antioxidants. They help fight the degeneration of the cells on your lips while moisturising them. This treatment works like a charm for lifeless and dark lips. Chocolate can also exfoliate dead cells, improve skin elasticity, add glow, and prevent sun damage. If you loved chocolate before, you only have another reason now!
7. Lip Balm and Toothbrush Exfoliation
This simple method can help remove debris and accumulated dead cells off your lips. It clears up flaky lips like magic.
What You Need
A lip balm of thick consistency
A soft toothbrush or an old cotton cloth
How to Apply
Spread a thick layer of lip balm on your lips.
Leave it on for as long as possible. This facilitates absorption of the lip balm.
If you can keep it overnight, it works to rejuvenate your lips well.
Once it has been absorbed well, use the soft bristles to massage your lips gently while exfoliating it to remove dead cells.
Use a soft cotton cloth if you do not want to use a brush.
Your lips will feel moisturised and soft.
How Often to Use
You can do this exfoliation every day if you prefer. Keeping the lip balm overnight increases the efficacy.
How It Works
Removing dead skin cells from your lips will help replenish moisture, and reduce the flakiness. The exfoliation performed is in its gentlest form to maintain the delicate balance of the lips’ membrane.
8. Lemon Juice and Almond Oil
Sweet almond oil is a simple and effective remedy for lip discolouration.
What You Need
Lemon juice- a few drops
Sweet almond oil- a few drops
How to Apply
Mix the two ingredients nicely.
Apply like a lip balm.
Let it get absorbed.
How Often to Use
Use it as often as you can remember in a day.
How It Works
Almond oil is a rich antioxidant. It can help rejuvenate your lips while removing the debris of dead cells that have accumulated. Lemon juice is, of course, a natural skin lightener and helps restore colour to your lips. This mixture can make your lips soft, plump, and supple in a matter of a few days.
9. Rose Petals Mask
Rose petals have the pink in their name. This is a wonderful remedy to patchy and dry lip problems.
What You Need
Rose petals-5 or 6
Milk- ½ cup
How to Apply
Soak rose petals in milk for a night.
Strain the petals in the morning and mash them.
Add a few drops of the milk in which you've soaked the petals.
Make a mushy paste out of the two.
Apply this to your lips and leave on for 15 minutes.
Wash it off with cold water.
How Often to Use
If you fancy really rosy lips, you could do this every day. Done at night, the results will be even better because any remedy works like magic when the body is in resting mode.
How It Works
Natural oils and sugars are the secrets that rose petals hold. These help to lock in the moisture and work in an anti-inflammatory way while the milk moisturises the skin. Rose petals are known to revitalise the skin and bring back a glow to it. Rose has antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties that make it an ideal ingredient for the treatment of cuts, abrasions, dryness, and burns.
10. Coriander Lip Mask
Coriander isn’t just a garnish that you use in your dishes. It is a powerful medicinal plant that has curative properties. It could be your answer to one of the best home remedies for pink lips in 15 days.
What You Need
A handful of coriander leaves
How to Apply
Crush the leaves into a thick paste.
Apply the paste on to your lips.
Let it sit for 20 minutes.
Wash with warm water and pat dry.
Apply lip balm.
How Often to Use
Use it every day for a few weeks.
How It Works
Coriander leaves are rich in beta-carotene, lutein, beta-cryptoxanthin, and zeaxanthin. They are known for their antifungal and antioxidant properties. These leaves are also widely known for their ability to flush out toxins. The power of this mask can help restore the colour and quality of your lips if used with dedication.
Essential Tips to Consider
There are a few more things that you can do to bring the rosy colour back and keep it forever:
Eat tomato, melons, and cucumber to maintain hydration levels.
Saliva dries out the lips further. So do not lick chocolate lip masks or honey and sugar scrubs off your lips.
Commercial lip balms have many chemicals and preservatives. It takes only a little effort to make your lip balm at home.
If you are a smoker, know that no remedy will be lasting until you kick the habit.
Remove your makeup before going to bed.
Wear sunscreen if you spend the day under the sun.
Exfoliate even your lips, and use a mask too.
Strangely, it is also said that applying a couple of drops of mustard oil around your belly button can help you have softer lips. It might be tied to the fact that the oil cools the body temperature in some way, enabling relaxation. It may sound outlandish, but it seems to have worked for our grandmothers and may be worth a try!
So if you have dark, chapped, and flaky lips, the remedies we have mentioned can well be your chance to get back the sheen and colour of your lips. Bringing back the colour should be the least of your worries, thanks to the comprehensive list that we have put together for you. Keeping your lips in the pink of health is what you need to work on. It takes determination and consistency to try a treatment and stick to it until you see results. You needn’t try them all. Pick the ones that are easy for you and make sure that you continue to use them even after you have regained the colour and suppleness of your lips.

Not Gaining Enough Weight During Pregnancy - Causes and Tips to Deal With it
Pregnancy is an experience to cherish for a lifetime. You have butterflies in your tummy, however, it comes to a speedy halt with premature Braxton Hicks contractions and untimely delivery early on. Not gaining enough weight not only will leave you fatigued but also affect the development of your baby from the second trimester onward.
If you haven't been packing on enough pounds and have been failing in weight gains, we've got you covered in this post.
How Much Weight Should You Gain
Packing on 9 to 13 kgs is ideal for women whose BMI (Body Mass Index) falls in the healthy range. Find out whether you're in the "normal weight" range by using a BMI calculator. If your BMI is too high, you'll actually need to shed a few pounds to avoid complications and preterm labour during a pregnancy. According to the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine in 2009, here's a chart that shows the ideal weight gain recommendations for mothers who are pregnant or planning to be.
Pre-pregnancy BMI
Target weight gain for single pregnancy in Kgs
Target weight gain for multiples in Kgs

When Will You Start Gaining Weight
Weight gain will depend on several factors - genetics, metabolism, your environment, activity level, and calories in and out. If you're at a healthy starting weight, expect to gain about 3 kgs during the first trimester of pregnancy and 500gms for every week during the remainder of your pregnancy weeks. Doctors recommend intaking 340 extra calories a day during the second trimester and 450 extra calories every day during the third trimester of pregnancy
Alternatively, you can use a pregnancy calculator to find out how much weight you need to gain based on your height and pre-pregnancy weight.
What if You are Not Gaining Enough Weight?
Your foetus is not usually affected during the first trimester since the seed is small and so is the demand for nutrient supply. Things go in full swing from the second trimester and this is where it gets dangerous if you don't gain enough weight. Your baby doesn't get enough nutrients for growth and is adversely affected in the process of you not gaining weight. Additionally, if you don't gain enough weight, your baby will need to be kept under hospice care longer and be of low birth-weight, thus experiencing low blood sugar levels and difficulty in feeding.
Reasons for Insufficient Weight Gain
The main reasons for low weight gain or insufficient weight gain during pregnancy are:
If your diet is lacking in nutrient-dense foods, healthy fats, and high-calorie proteins, you will experience insufficient weight gain. The solution? Eat healthy, ingest more calories
Low-weight gain during pregnancy is also a cause of Intrauterine growth retardation in women (IUGR)
Chromosomal Abnormalities in the baby
Medical conditions such as pre-eclampsia which interferes with weight gain and supplying oxygen and nutrients to the baby from the placenta
Emotional problems and stress
How to Increase Weight in Pregnancy?
If you are having trouble gaining weight during pregnancy, you're in for a treat! Here's how you can increase your weight during pregnancy:
Five to Six Small Meals a Day
Eating five to six small meals a day regulates your metabolism and promotes healthy weight gain. Be sure to eat healthy fats, nuts, seeds, vegetables, and lots of plant-rich protein and organic lean meats for best results.
Focus on calorie-dense healthy foods and keep salads for last.
Maintain a Healthy BMI
By staying within a healthy weight range before pregnancy, you maximize your chances of success for sufficient weight gain during the trimesters of your pregnancy. Plus, you don't have to worry about losing weight or packing on kilos beyond the recommended limits.
Avoid Junk Foods
Processed foods interfere with your body's ability to gain weight and put a hamper on metabolism regulation.
Eat healthy, be happy, and watch those pounds rise steadily. Your baby's well-being depends on the quality of the calories you take in and not just the quantity.
Eat Healthy Fats
We've talked about eating a healthy diet but for productive weight gain, incorporate healthy fats such as nuts, fatty fish, avocados, and olive oil.
Juice Up
Up your juice intake since liquid calories count. Orange juice, carrot juice, papaya nectar, and others, are great choices! The magic lies in juices high in Vitamin C and carotene content.
Consult a Nutritionist or a Dietician
Your gynaecologist may have recommendations but consult the food and nutrition expert just to be safe.
Light Exercises
Exercise regulates metabolism and blood sugar levels. This promotes steady weight gain in the long run as well. Don't be hyperactive or sedentary, be healthy. Exercising also prevents pre-eclampsia.
Don't Skip Meals
Skipping meals interferes with the weight gain process and is a huge no-no during pregnancy. Keep that in mind. For your diet, a balance
Whether you're planning to become pregnant or are expecting a delivery, putting on those pounds in a healthy way will not only help you and your body but also your baby. Eat healthy, exercise regularly, and stay happy and we're sure you'll pack on those pounds safely without any worries!

Start Your Day Right - 10 Tips to Make Your Mornings Fresher AND Productive Everyday!
A well-spent morning opens the doors to a successful day. Examine a list of habits of highly successful people to make your early morning routine very productive too. Start incorporating these changes and you'll soon be on the track well-travelled by successful folks.
The modern lifestyle may be more efficient, but it’s also challenging and oft times, a little too fast paced. The way you begin your day, in particular, has an impact on your productivity, which is why it’s important to start out fresh and raring to go.
10 Morning Habits of Highly Successful People
1. Getting out of bed early
A cosy bed may seem to be the most inviting thing, but most successful people do manage to suppress the urge and get out of bed early. Waking up at 6:30 instead of 8 means that you have one and a half hours more for a head start!
2. Working out
Another one among 10 things to do every morning to be successful is to start your day with your favourite exercise, whether it’s strength training at the gym, a yoga class or an invigorating power walk. Working out ensures better health, boosts your productivity and raises your energy.
3. Getting some alone time
The importance of alone time can’t be stressed enough. Even if it’s just 20 minutes, you can use it to plan your day, meditate or listen to soothing music.
4. Having a healthy breakfast
Skipping breakfast is a temptation many succumb to, but that bowl of cereal or that plate of eggs and toast has a lot to contribute to your productivity during the day. Take the time to enjoy your morning meal!
5. Organising, organising, organising!
Successful people make organisation a part of their early morning routine. They manage their time well to complete big and small tasks, from making the bed to packing lunch boxes, tidying the house, sending kids to school and going to work.
6. Thinking positive
Another important aspect of a productive morning routine is to welcome each day as a new one with a positive attitude. Forget about yesterday and what stressed you out. Take today as an opportunity, not a burden.
7. Mapping the day
Chalk out a plan for the day as soon as you wake up, preparing a mental to-do list, along with the order of tasks and allocate adequate time to each one. This will do wonders for your productivity and success.
8. Treating yourself well
Realise the importance of pampering yourself as it makes you feel good and confident. Follow a daily skin care routine and give some thought to choosing your outfit and makeup before going to work.
9. Exercising the brain
Successful people start the day not only with a physical workout but a mental one too. This can include reading a book, going through the newspaper or solving a crossword puzzle.
10. Not procrastinating
Procrastination ruins chances of success as it throws you backwards. Start every day with an active morning routine and surge ahead.
Set your priorities and boost your confidence by giving yourself a pep talk every morning. You’ll be amazed at the change and will wonder why you never did this sooner! Read more

A. Nasal blockage is very common, specially in small children because of the narrow nasal cavity. Any kind of saline drops like nasal clear will be helpful in dissolving the stuffy secretions, which can be taken out by vnasal aspirator gently also steam inhalation will be helpful also, try to avoid keeping the child directly under the fan.
