Driving Two Wheeler during Pregnancy - Safety and Precautions
A lot of women prefer using a two-wheeler to run errands or to travel to work as it saves time and the hassle of parking. However, during pregnancy, women may have to make certain changes in their usual lifestyle. A pregnant woman needs to take extra care of her safety and health, so the question of using a two-wheeler during pregnancy will naturally arise.
The fluctuating hormones and the resulting sickness, fatigue, nausea and pain, along with a growing belly can render riding a two-wheeler during pregnancy uncomfortable and risky. It may lead to erroneous driving, thereby increasing the risk of a likely road accident. In fact, some women may even have to avoid all forms of travelling during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy.
Is It Safe to Ride a Two-Wheeler During Pregnancy?
Many pregnant women may question if it is safe to ride a two-wheeler while pregnant. Well, riding a two-wheeler during pregnancy is safe, provided you take extra care. A pregnant woman while riding a two-wheeler may be more susceptible to losing her balance and falling. Unlike in a car, two-wheelers don’t have airbags to protect in case of a crash. Moreover, on a two-wheeler, one is more exposed to rough roads.
The risk of riding a two-wheeler during the first trimester is slightly lesser when compared to the risks involved in riding a two-wheeler during the later stages of pregnancy. In case you are still doubtful of whether you should be riding a bike during pregnancy in the first trimester, it is always sensible to consult your doctor for guidance. In any case, you should be careful while riding two-wheelers during pregnancy. Also, it is advisable to follow all the standard driving rules and the safety driving instructions. Being alert and attentive while riding a two-wheeler while pregnant can go a long way in reducing the risk factor.
Precautions to Take When You Ride on a Two-Wheeler During Pregnancy
It may not be entirely possible to avoid riding a two-wheeler during pregnancy, but you can always keep the following precautions in mind when you do:
Always wear a helmet while driving a two-wheeler, even while sitting pillion.
You may like to wear comfortable flat shoes instead of heels or strappy sandals.
Avoid driving during rush hours.
Exploring new or longer routes may not be such a good idea. Stick to familiar, short routes.
In case you are riding on a two-wheeler at nighttime, put on a neon or bright coloured jacket that is easily visible from distance.
During the rainy season, roads can be slippery. Avoid riding your two-wheeler on wet roads or immediately after it has rained. Water can cover the potholes, making it difficult for you to identify them.
If your scooter does not have a self-start, it is best to take someone's help as you may accidentally jerk too hard while kickstarting the scooter yourself.
Familiarise yourself with healthcare centres along the route on which you are travelling in case of an emergency.
Take special care on turns and speed breakers. Avoid speeding and overtaking other vehicles to prevent any accidents.
Always carry along a bottle of water, your phone fully charged, and a healthy snack.
Choose comfortable and suitable clothing according to the weather.
Ways to Avoid a Two-Wheeler Ride When Pregnant
You may want to avoid a two-wheeler ride when your pregnancy advances into the later stages. Sudden jerks or a bumpy ride or a bad fall may result in premature delivery and other pregnancy complications. Here's how you can safely travel without the help of a two-wheeler:
In case you are a working woman, you can seek your colleagues' help and arrange a carpool with them to travel to work. You can also inquire from neighbours or friends and make a similar arrangement.
You can avail cab services that offer cabs at economical rates. These cab services also have the option of sharing a ride, which can further reduce the cost of travel.
You can also consider public transport like trains, particularly metros and buses, especially during your third trimester when sitting on a two-wheeler becomes uncomfortable.
You can always talk to your boss and organize flexible work hours that are better suited to your carpooling arrangement, so you get to avoid peak traffic hours.
You can also work from home in case your company allows it.
You can download various apps on your phone that offer home deliveries and services at your doorstep.
Don't shy away from asking the help of your family members or friends to drive you to the market or anywhere else you need to be. People usually are more than ready to help a pregnant lady!
Riding a two-wheeler during pregnancy is not a big problem. The main hurdle lies in the condition of the roads, which are usually full of potholes and other things that can cause a bumpy, uncomfortable ride. Maddening traffic, people's tendency to disregard basic traffic rules and to create dangerous situations can result in an accident. Therefore, it makes sense to avoid exposing yourself to such potentially hazardous situations while pregnant. Taking precautions when riding a two-wheeler during pregnancy may lower the risks associated with it.

Prolactin Levels Test for Pregnancy - High, Low and Normal Range
Every hormone in our bodies has a specific purpose, and it is usually when these hormones go haywire that we find ourselves with problems. A woman experiences hormonal changes a lot throughout her life, and these changes are magnified during pregnancy. A hormone called prolactin is one that plays an important role in fertility and conception. If your prolactin levels are abnormal, you are most likely to have trouble conceiving.
What Is Prolactin?
Originating from the pituitary gland, prolactin is a hormone that helps in the production of breast milk. While both men and women have prolactin in their blood, why men have it is not yet clear. Prolactin in women plays an important role in fertility, menstruation and sex drive.
What Are the Normal Prolactin Levels to Get Pregnant?
For women who are not pregnant, the average prolactin levels should be between 2 and 29ng/ml (nanograms per millilitre). Women whose prolactin levels fall in this range have a better chance at conceiving.
Can You Get Pregnant With Low Prolactin Levels?
If your pituitary gland is not working properly, your prolactin levels will be low. This is known as hypopituitarism. However, this is not considered to be a problem as conceiving a child is possible even with low prolactin levels.
Can You Get Pregnant With High Prolactin Levels?
High prolactin levels (known as hyperprolactinemia) make it difficult to conceive. They are also a cause of infertility in some people. Hyperprolactinemia as a result of a successfully established pregnancy is normal. As a woman's body starts to produce more breast milk to feed her child, her prolactin levels may spike. However, having high levels of prolactin at any other time is not good.
Symptoms of High Prolactin Levels
You will be advised to have your prolactin levels checked if you have the following:
Producing breast milk when you are neither pregnant nor a new mother
Low sex drive
Impotency
Infertility
Lack of menstrual period or irregular menstrual cycle
Anovulation (i.e. absence of ovulation)
Weight gain
Vision problems
Headaches
Breast tenderness
Hot flashes or vaginal dryness
Causes of High Prolactin Levels
There are many things that can cause high levels of prolactin. Some of these are:
Medication that falls into the category of anti-convulsants, anti-hypertensive drugs and opiates.
Hypothyroidism
Anorexia (eating disorder)
Lack of sleep
Extreme stress
Strenuous exercise
Tumour in the pituitary gland
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
How Is High Prolactin Diagnosed?
A blood test can determine whether or not the above-mentioned symptoms are a result of high prolactin levels. If not, these symptoms can also be a result of prolactinoma (i.e. presence of a tumour).
The first thing your doctor is going to ask you with regards to infertility issues or irregularity in your menstrual cycle is if you are taking medication. Along with this, your thyroid function will be tested. In some cases, an MRI or CT scan can be used to diagnose the problem.
Medical Treatment for High Prolactin Levels
Medications such as bromocriptine (also known as Parlodel or Cycloset) are commonly prescribed to treat high prolactin levels as they help the brain to produce dopamine. They can also shrink the prolactinoma tumours if present. Cabergoline is a newer drug for prolactinoma that is meant to have fewer side effects. If you find yourself sensitive to the other drugs, this one may work best.
In other instances, radiotherapy may be suggested as a way to increase your prolactin levels or to treat prolactinoma.
How to Lower Prolactin Levels to Get Pregnant Naturally
While there are medicinal remedies to reduce the levels of prolactin in the body, there are pros and cons to this method. While some women find that medication works for them, it doesn't work for others. Further, once the woman stops the medication, her prolactin levels may go back to being high. This is why natural ways of treating prolactin levels are preferred. Here are a few of them:
1. Fertility Cleansing
Whether you have just made the decision of trying for a baby or you have been trying for years, fertility cleansing is the way to go. This removes all the toxins from your body that can cause problems with fertility. Fixing the symptoms will not solve the problem completely, but by detoxifying your body, you are taking a step in removing the root cause of the problem.
2. Vitamins and Supplements
Consuming vitamin and mineral supplements such as vitamin B6, vitamin E and SAM-e (s-adenosyl methionine) can be beneficial in reducing the prolactin levels in the body. Vitamin B6 is associated with metabolism and production of neurotransmitters like dopamine; vitamin E prevents the prolactin levels from rising, and SAM-e strengthens the joints, detoxifies the liver and boosts mood and brain functioning.
3. Herbal Teas
Drinking teas with ingredients such as white peony, peppermint, chaste berry, sage and others are very helpful as these ingredients have been used to treat disorders in women for hundreds of years as they all help in regulating a woman’s menstrual cycle.
4. Massage
Learn some massaging techniques that you could perform on yourself, or your partner can perform on you - these will better the health of your reproductive system by reducing stress hormones, removing any stagnant blood or scar tissue from the uterus, improving hormonal balance and blood circulation.
5. Lifestyle Changes
As always, your lifestyle plays a huge role in helping your body function well. Habits like smoking, consuming alcohol and not getting enough exercise lead to problems while trying to conceive due to the changes and imbalances they cause to your hormones. Including a healthy diet is vital as it will improve the health of all your organs, especially the liver. A healthy diet will also help keep all the hormones in check, including prolactin.
Many couples today have problems conceiving due to the levels of prolactin being high. The biggest contributing factor to this is the lack of exercise, stress, overwork and unhealthy eating. Even a slight drop in the prolactin levels can improve the chances of a couple conceiving a child.
If you notice that you have any of the symptoms mentioned here, it is worth visiting a doctor so you can get your prolactin levels checked immediately. Opting for natural treatment is a better option as it is a more permanent solution.

When Baby's First Birthday Ties With a Festival Day!
In the midst of planning for the holidays, you have your child's first birthday party to think about. If you're not careful, you can be left feeling overwhelmed. Fortunately, surviving holiday birthday blues can be easy if you know how. Read on to learn the tricks!
Your baby’s turning one, and you’re super-excited to be planning his birthday. But a look at the calendar tells you that it falls on a holiday. Should that mean a complete change of plans? Not necessarily. There are ways you can celebrate both without getting too frazzled.
How to Celebrate Baby's First Birthday on a Holiday
1. Combine the Two for a Big Celebration
If money’s no object and you’re up to planning, you can organise your baby’s first birthday with the festival for a massive party. True, it’ll take work and will cost, but it definitely will be memorable! You can order a large cake, put up birthday decorations alongside festival ones and ask everyone to attend in their best attire.
2. Separate the Two
If the idea of combining the occasions seems too much or a little impersonal, why not separate the festivities? It can help you and your family survive the holiday birthday blues and give you time to breathe. Don’t worry about having the birthday on another day; it’s only the date that’s different, not the occasion!
3. Have a Half Birthday
It may not sound like a lot but a half birthday can be loads of fun. It’s a lot more low-key than a ‘full’ celebration but it’s no less meaningful. You could plan the half birthday a month before the holiday and organise the other half on the day itself.
4. Halve the Day
Moms who prefer the idea of combining celebrations but don’t want the birthday to be overshadowed by the holiday can plan a birthday lunch followed by a holiday dinner. This way, you get to have two celebrations without one trumping the other.
5. Don’t Choose a Holiday Theme
Your baby may be too young to notice but if you want to keep the party from seeming like a holiday celebration, choose a theme that reflects only a birthday party. For instance, if your child’s birthday falls a week before Christmas, take down decorations and place the tree elsewhere. Have a theme that’s not Christmassy so there’s a clear distinction between the two occasions.
6. Create an Invitation Card that Stands Out
We may be living in the technological age, but season’s greeting cards are still commonly sent. In order to let guests know that they’re being invited to a different occasion, design a card that stands out. It can be something shaped like a flag or something round or a card with a distinct theme that can’t be missed. Hand-deliver it so invitees don’t accidentally place it in a pile with holiday mail.
What to do when your child's first birthday falls on the holidays? See it as an opportunity to think out of the box! Don’t be daunted by the planning and the expense. When you know how to celebrate it, you’ll realise it’s surprisingly simple to organise a holiday birthday. Read more

Don't Compare : Every baby is different and Every Mother is Different.
A New mom gets to hear a lot of suggestions, tips, and lessons from everyone around her. But what people don't understand is that every Baby isn't the same. The baby is different in its own way. Some babies’ sleeps well, some don't. Some babies cry a lot and some don't. So you can't judge the ability of a mother based on a baby's behaviour, when it is just born.Parenting isn't easy. People around us won't make us understand how it is going to be a baby. Instead they always try to teach us what to eat, what not to eat.I personally feel that the people around us, whether it is our mom, mother-in-law or sisters, cousins who have experienced childbirth and motherhood, should tell us how it is going to be and how we can cope with it. So it will mentally give us enough knowledge to prepare ourselves. When a child is Born, A mother is born. So you can't expect a new mom to do all the things that an experienced mom can do. She needs time to get adjusted to everything from breastfeeding to diaper changing. Everything is new to her. So as time goes she will manage things on own.If people around us keep finding mistakes and criticizing us then it will lead to depression and affects the mother a lot. So instead of criticizing, let's appreciate her efforts and make believe that she can do it. A healthy environment is always good for the baby and for the mother. So don’t compare your baby with others and your parenting style with others. Every has their own way of parenting and every baby is different in its own way, Read more

Diwali Layi Khushiyaan Hi Khushiyaan! (How I Met My Love in Diwali)
During the festive season of Diwali we had a rangoli competition in our housing society. l was super excited to participate in the contest and went with a handful of dry colours and decorative diyas with my friends. We were all given a theme for the rangoli contest. We were all set for the competition and started making our rangolis rangoli making suddenly a young dude approached us to borrow some colours for his rangoli.
At first, we hesitated a little. We wondered whether we should give our material to this stranger. But one aunty who had also come to enjoy the rangoli competition said, "We should spread happiness and love with everyone, especially on Diwali!"
So we gave this dude our colours and he made his best rangoli designs with it. When the most awaited moment came and the winner was announced, it turned out to be the guy we had helped! We were happy for him. He thanked us and asked me for my number.
As the days went by, we started talking regularly and became good friends. And as we got to know each other more and more, I realized he is the perfect man for me and married him. Whenever I make rangoli on Diwali I always remember this moment and cherish it.

Boom for some, bane for few- not to be judged!
Well it's on the patriarchy and mindset that society is following from centuries that a newlywed couple is supposed to live with her in-laws.
But what's so wrong in this if your in-laws are good. There's nothing bad to live with them if they are understanding and supports the concept of marital privacy. Thinking about senario of today's generation, where women are independent and working, and couples who are desirous of growing their family, I believe support and back of in laws acts as a blessing for them.I would like to share my example. I live with my in-laws and I have no problem living with them. It's totally ok if your thoughts doesnot match with them sometimes and if it turns into an argument. It's a joint family where every member may have their own different opinion. I believe talking or communication can solve every argument. Well, not all in-laws are monsters who will treat their daughters-in-law law badly and would treat her like a care taker.
Living with in laws has its own pros and cons. Let's discuss the prons first.
1. The children would be able to know their grandparents.
2. The couple would definitely get household and financial help.
3. You will always have someone to share your household chores with.
On the other side, let's have a look on cons:
1. couple's privacy might get disturbed.
2. You may not get chance to decorate your home or clean your home by your own way.
3. Some unsolicited advices which you may not like to get all the time.
However, every coin has two sides. If a couple does not wants to live with her in laws, then their decision should be respected. The society should not treat them as villans and the daughter in law as a vampire. They have full right of marital privacy and to keep a distance to let marital life flourish while maintaining an amicable relationship with the elders. By not living with in laws certainly does not mean disrespecting elders!
By concluding this, it can be a boom for some and a bane for Few. Ultimately the decision of living with in laws or not should be respected and not to be crtisized by the society. Read more

A. It is not a pre-term degree once you enter into your nine months you can deliver any time and it will be a full-time delivery so see if your gynaecologist is suggesting you something go for that because she’s monitored your pregnancy throughout these nine months so I think she would not suggest you anything wrong of going a sec for a second opinion you go for what your gynaecologist suggesting but try going ahead with a normal delivery

A.
