9 Things You Do for Your Children That They Will ALWAYS Remember!
Children – they are very smart! As adults we feel like we always know better simply because we have been in the world longer than our children, which is true – but we often underestimate how children view the world too. Children’s minds are malleable at a young age – however we teach them things, they remember. But what impacts them more is what we do in front of them. You do many things for your child out of love, but here are the things they will never, ever forget -
1. How you show them affection
How you show your love to your child automatically becomes his way of showing love to others in the long run. If you are distant and don’t show a lot of affection, your child might grow up being distant and inexpressive as he grows older. He may not intentionally do it, but he might subconsciously pick it up as a child. Hence, shower your child with love as much as you can to raise him with a healthy idea of love. Say ‘I love you’ often; use physical touch like hugging and kissing to express how you appreciate him. This will go a long way.
2. How you handle their mistakes
Every child is bound to make mistakes, simply because they are learning. However, how you react to your child’s mistakes makes a big impact on how he sees the mistake, and how he learns from it. If you yell, scream, and blame your child for making the mistake, he will most likely not learn much from it, but not repeat it only out of fear. Screaming all the time will one day de-sensitize him to your anger, and he might even refuse to correct his errors out of spite. This might end with him becoming stubborn and angry as a grown-up. Hence, choose your words wisely. Positive re-inforcement can make him believe that he can come to you regarding his issues without any judgment or anger from your side.
3. How you handle their achievements
Children are the happiest when they are appreciated for their achievements! Since your child is just learning how to do things, a little encouragement every now and then can do wonders for his self-esteem, both now and in the long run. A pat on the back, saying, “I’m proud of you!”, and actually showing up for his prize distributions or annual day functions has an incredible effect on your child’s relationship with you. If you consistently mock your child for getting something wrong, it can create feelings of resentment that will fester over time. Thus, it’s good to express your pride in your child when you can.
4. What you teach them about money
Children watch and learn things all the time – this is why your actions around your child matter immensely. You might think that your child cannot understand much about your finances, but he can see the frequency of your spending – and that can develop his relationship with money. From a young age, teach him the concepts of saving and spending money wisely. Take him grocery shopping and let him hand you vegetables and other items. Let him watch you bargain respectfully with the vendors, and answer the questions he might have. These little things will subconsciously stay in his mind, and help him grow up as a responsible adult.
5. What values you give them
It goes without saying that your child will learn what you teach him. But most importantly, he will learn from what he watches around his house. Of course you would want to teach him to not litter, to clean up after himself, and to respect girls, but there is a thin chance that these lessons will stick if he doesn’t see you practicing what you preach. To really teach him values that are important to you, practice them in front of him unfailingly so he picks up on them. Split the housework with your partner to teach him that girls and boys have equal responsibilities. Pick up after yourself so he understands that he needs to keep his surroundings clean. Start teaching these habits early, because they are hard to change when the child grows up.
6. How much you involve them in decision-making
Yes, they are children and yes, they cannot make important decisions for the home – but that does not mean they shouldn’t be involved! Involving your little one in small, everyday decisions will surely help him build a sense of responsibility and turn him into an adult who makes practical and smart decisions. Watching you and your partner discuss things regarding what to buy, what to repair and change around the house can help him understand how decisions can be made, and he can absorb this habit slowly. If you keep him out of decisions because he is ‘still a child’, there is a chance that he will not take responsibility seriously as an adult, and he will come to you for approval for every little thing.
7. How you react when they are sad
As parents, we may not think much about the trivial things that children get sad about, but that is another thing children keep with them unconsciously. If your child comes to you saying he is sad, talk to him and ask him about what happened. Give him a proper opinion and console him if that is what he wants. If he wants to cry, let him cry – do not tell him ‘ladke nahi rote’ or anything that will stop him from expressing himself, because that is a guaranteed disaster. Dismissing his problems as small will likely make him not come to you with his issues again, and he might look for external sources to solve them.
8. How much you listen to them
Children have active imaginations and lots of things to say – hear them out! You don’t always have to listen to each and every word, and we understand, it can get annoying sometimes – but how you react when they get excited about something is what matters. If you dismiss them all the time and don’t pay attention to them, they will slowly stop telling you things and learn to bottle them up inside. This in turn can lead to them being socially awkward and shy adults that are bad at communicating. Remember to always receive your child’s stories with excitement.
9. How much time you spend with them
We know you are most likely struggling to find quality time to spend with your child. Life is hard – work, stress and other problems can make you prioritize other things over your child sometimes, but try not to let that happen. Even in cases that you have to prioritize work, find creative ways to spend time with your child – call him to your workplace and let him silently play with office supplies while you work, or take him to a park and watch him play while you do some minor work you needed to finish on your laptop. The key is to be present in your child’s life so he doesn’t feel like he doesn’t have anyone, and grow up to develop a sense of dependency on other relationships to deem his worth. A child with a present parent is always a secure one.
Your child is your greatest treasure – take care of him wisely, and with lots of love. He will never forget how you made him feel, and your lessons will go down with him for a lifetime and extend in generations to come.

Xavier Name Meaning and Origin
Xavier is a unique name with an enviable sound and incredible style. Derived from Latin origin, it means “new house,” ‘splendid,’ or “bright.” After its popularity as a first name, Xavier is being reassessed as a middle name as in St Francis Xavier, Larenz Tate’s son, Miles Xavier, or Kim Fields’ son Quincy Xavier. Xavier can easily be shortened to form a precious nickname like Xavi. With less common Xzavier and Zavier, Xavier has trendier variants as Xaviero and Alexavier that have their own appeal. Nevertheless, the classic Xavier remains the most popular of them all among Christians.
What Does Xavier Mean?
A boy’s name of Basque origin, the meaning of Xavier is “new house.” It means ‘Enlightened’ in French, ‘New house’ in Spanish, ‘bright and splendid’ in Arabic.’ The toponym is the Romanization of the Basque place-name Etxe berri, meaning ‘castle’ or ‘new home.’ Its Basque variant is Xabier, and the Old Spanish variant is Xavier. The Greek transliteration of the Hebrew chaver means ‘brother’ ’a friend,’ and ’a pal.’
Origin
Xavier as a male personal name originates from Xavier, a Spanish-Basque village in the kingdom of Navarre where the Jesuit missionary Saint Francis Xavier was born. He was the co-founder of the Jesuit order who shunned a life of privilege and devoted himself towards spreading the word of God and caring for the needy. The Portuguese and Catalan forms of Xavier come from Basque Xabier.

Kids please don’t hate us and please understand parents are not enemies!!!
Ekansh was angry at me. He gave me a bad look and walked
towards the bedroom. I followed him back. He sat on the bed and started crying
and mumbling, I used my sharp ears and heard what he said. Ekansh was saying,
“God, I don’t want this family. I want another family. These people hate me.
Please God, find another family for me.” When I heard this my eyes were filled
with tears and why not? Being just six years old you suddenly want another
family? I went inside the room and asked, “Why do you want another family?” By
suddenly seeing me in the room he got scared but then asked me to go out of the
room, but I refused and insisted on him. He said he is angry because I
complained to his dad about him and his dad beat him up. Oh, so that was the
reason. I understood. I wanted to explain to him everything but that time he
wasn’t in the mood so I let go of that moment. My heart was continuously
shouting from inside that, my baby, we are not your enemies, we are your
well-wishers. It was Sunday, after crying a lot yesterday night my cutie
pie just woke up. He almost had forgotten what happened yesterday. I was happy
to see that. Ekansh was just lying on the bed and he saw a wrapped gift next to
him. He cheered up loudly and opened the gift. It was his favorite car, his dad
gifted him. He went out of the room and hugged his daddy with a lot of love. I
asked him about his yesterday’s tantrums but he said to leave that topic now as
he got a gift. Later, by mid of the day, I thought of talking to Ekansh. I
walked towards him; he was playing with a car. I said, Ekansh, I need to speak
with you.” I started explaining to him that we are parents are not enemies. We indeed shout or we beat our children’s but it doesn’t
happen without a reason. No, not. As a parent, we have a lot of expectations
from our kids the same way they expect tons of things. Kids expect we should
buy new toys, games, clothes, shoes, accessories, stationary’s. We should take
them to movies, for a picnic, to their friends, and parties. And as a parent, we
try our best to provide them almost everything on behalf of what? On behalf of
good behavior, good discipline, good results in exams, healthy food habits,
hygiene, responsibility. Yes, as a parent we look at all such factors in our
kid but are it for our good? If the kid will do well in exams he will have a
bright future, if he will maintain good and hygiene then it will make him
healthy for the future, if he will behave well then the society will accept
him, he will be a good human being. So where are the parents benefit? Every parent has their way, culture and society to raise the
kid with but kids don’t understand all this and very easily they give a tag of
the enemy to their parents. Kids feel that a parent should never say no to them
and just do what the kid wants. But will be harmful to the kid too. Tomorrow if
parents will stop interfering in the kid’s life then it’s a high possibility of
that kid to take the wrong decision. Of course not purposely but being
nonexperience he or she can go on the wrong path or it may lead to some bad
experiences like if a kid is already on the healthier side but keep eating all
fatty foods if a parent won’t stop that kid will not stop watching TV or
mobile, and so on. Parents do a lot of scarifies in their life and give the best
to the kid. It’s not necessary that all parents earn very well or they have
tons of money, a lot of parents compromise to fulfill the kid's dreams. Parents
also feel that they should have a relaxed life but they do everything best,
like if a kid is not well then even parents have sleepless nights, they have
rounds to the doctors, they search the best school even the fees goes high,
they make their kids join a lot of hobby classes even they have to rush after
office, they spend a lot of money on birthday parties, schoolings, and fun
activities, etc. Just that kid doesn’t realize all this. It’s very easy to be a kid but it’s very difficult to be a
parent. So it’s a request to all the kids please don’t hate us and please
understand parents are not enemies!!!

Handling Lies amongst Little Children : Catch them young!
Purpose of the article is to make parents aware of why kids lie and ways tackle the same in a healthy way.
Handling Lies amongst Little Children
..........................
Kids are likely to lie somewhere along the way. Should parents get upset when a child lies? On one hand, the longer their disruptive behaviour is tolerated firmly rooted it becomes. On the other, freaking would only make things worse because child is less likely to trust you and open up about key information in future.
When kids grow up they use their discretion of what to share with parents and things to keep to themselves but as parents what should be our role in this ? It is imperative to catch them young and explain the difference between lying and saying the truth.
So, what is lying? It is simply hiding facts or correct information for the fear of getting reprimanded. So, why do children start lying ? Do they know what it means to lie or they use it as a fun tactic to draw attention?
Well, I have observed some of the following reasons why kids lie.
1. Fear of getting scolded by either parent if they share correct information.
2. Letting go of an object / toy because of which they lied.
3. To avoid confrontation with a parent. For example if a parent asks the child to do something repeatedly, they may lie inorder to avoid confrontation with the parent.
4. Fear of getting judged or rejection by peers, teachers etc.
5. For fun sake or to seek attention of either parent.
6. Sometimes lie is prompted by an elder or a parent as a measure to not hurt someone's feelings.
How can we ensure that they know what lying is and how it feels when we speak the truth?
Well, as a mom I too face instances when my kids hide information. Coercing makes them share correct information. But till what age can this approach work? Ultimately, it is crucial for child's overall growth to know difference between the two. We all are humans and so are these little people. As they grow up they may not want to share everything with parents but at least they would know what they are doing. Therefore, it is important to catch them young! Here are some of the do's and dont's of streamlining the behaviour.
1. First things first, Never react when they share truth. Truth is not easy for ears. Keep calm and process information shared by them and respond accordingly.
2. Lying is simply hiding information and is not joking in any way. For instance in my house whenever i step out of the house or i'm busy with chores, my little ones catch hold of a device and start watching videos. If i catch them or if they hear me close to their room they behave as though nothing happened. Tactic i use is to smile at them and ask. They share exactly what they were upto. Receptivity gives them confidence to share.
3. Don't be stern when they tell the truth. Sometimes we are helpless and react unnecessarily. This will do no good instead they wouldnt want to come back and share with you.Rather, encourage them to say whatever they want to. Eventually whether truth or lie they'll come up with everything.
4. Show them that you are on their side. Unless you do this, you'll continue to stay in a different team and will get correct information only in piecemeal. It's obvious to not agree with everything they say or share but in that moment you can keep calm and process what they have to say.
5. Storytelling is the best way for kids to absorb any concept. Tell them stories around the topic of how it feels to say the truth. Encourage them to weave moral of the story themselves. It'll help them identify with some great values as they share their perspective on the situation.
Learning and unlearning is a vicious circle. Parenting is all about reinforcing value system time and again. Children are children and they tend to forget just as adults do. Be patient and repeat yourself a million times if required to instill the correct value system. Read more
