Sound Words and Substitute Pronunciation in Toddlers
It's definitely a moment of joy when your little one starts communicating with you through speech. However, substitute pronunciation in toddlers can often leave the adults confused. Understanding what the baby wants to convey can take some time. So, how should you go about it?
The cooing sounds your baby makes are music to your ears and you eagerly wait for the day when your little one would start speaking. But when this happens, you might find that the baby's words just don't make any sense. Well, most toddlers start speaking in a language that seems alien to their parents. However, with time and some practice this can improve. Simplify the babble by learning how.
Hard Words for Kids to Say
Do you know why your munchkin's words don't make any sense to you? It's just because babies generally prefer to leave out certain words and consonants that they find difficult to pronounce. Sometimes they might substitute some similar sounding consonant in the word for easier pronunciation. This is one of the main reasons for toddlers mixing up words while speaking.
Reason Behind Toddler Speech Difficulty
Speaking comes easily to you. But this isn't as easy for your little one. Your child's discovery of speech is relatively new and he might take some time to get acquainted to using his mouth, tongue and throat to speak properly. Second, the tongue movement for difficult to pronounce words doesn't come easily to little ones. Words where two consonants blend together to form a word, like flower, slow, fly, spray etc. might pose a challenge for your child. However, this is nothing to worry about. With time, your darling will learn the right way to pronounce these words too.
Pronunciation of Words With Sounds by Toddlers- What you Should Know
Most toddlers start speaking a word or two by the time they turn one. You can see an improvement in their speaking skills as they grow older. Generally, toddlers can converse quite effectively by the time they turn four. In case, your little one doesn't show any improvement in his speaking skills, you might want to consult a doctor. This delay can be easily rectified with speech therapy sessions.
What You Can Do To Improve Speaking Skills in Your Little One
1. Filling in the missing sound
Whenever you notice that your child has missed out on a consonant while pronouncing a word, make sure that you repeat the word to let your toddler know the right way to say it. Remember that your child might not correct himself the very first time. This is an exercise that you need to follow till your child learns the right pronunciation of words.
2. Patience is the key
You might sometimes find it annoying that your little one commits the same mistake in spite of repeated correction. However, it's important that you keep your cool. Let your toddler take his own time to learn the difficult to pronounce words. Losing your cool might scare the little one and your child might try to avoid speaking that word.
3. Enhancing speech skills with practice
Practice makes a man perfect and this holds true for your toddler too. The best way to enhance the language skills of your baby is to encourage him to speak. `Ask him to repeat the words that he finds hard to speak. You can also read some story books to your child to help him understand the right way to speak different words. Make sure you pay special attention to the words that your child finds difficult to pronounce.
4. Learn your baby's language
In order to enhance your child's language skills, it's important that you understand the little one's language. Remember that most kids substitute 'R' with 'W', 'P' with 'B' or 'H', 'TH' with 'F' and 'SC' with 'K'. Of course, your child might have his own version of the language. So, find out what he means so that you can communicate with him effectively.
Proper communication with your little one is the best way to enhance his speaking skills. So, keep talking to your child and encourage him to speak more. Read more

Journey of Motherhood, Tough or Easy, Moms Have to Decide
Hi everyone. I am writing this blog for first time ever. I am mother of 5 months old baby boy. This precious gem came into my life after 6 years. Thanks to Almighty. But believe me I have become more concise. More patient and what not. Most importantly I am going to discuss how baby can be kept happy n relaxed.
1. First of all dear moms just forget that nothing is important than your newborn, and be determined that you will not be able to sleep for at least a month. Accept the fact instead of cribbing.
2. Secondly get your massage done as well as baby too. That will relax both mother and baby.
3. Be sure when your baby is sleeping that time you prepare his feeders etc I mean sterilisation. So when baby is about to awake you should be ready to feed him. Don't let baby cry a lot. These things keep on getting inculcated in baby (fussy behaviour).
4. Try having dry fruits.
5. Change diapers in 2-3 hours n during diaper change do massage baby legs.
6. Most importantly don't feel guilty if you are not breast feeding. Baby's tummy should be filled so top feed your baby.
7. Do change baby clothes before night sleep.
8. Burp after every feed.
9. Check colic related pain. If necessary do cycling exercise to relieve pain..You can see you tube videos
10. Take care nose should not be blocked. You cab give nasoclear drops after consulting doctor.
11. Give love pats n hugs whenever child stares at you
12. Keep your mobile aside when baby is in your laps.. Babies don't like divided attention
13. You should make habit as a baby is born u should leave baby with grandparents for few possible hours. That makes baby habitual in going in multiple hands and not only parents.
14. Start going to office as soon as comfortable.
15. Never try to awaken baby. let him open his eyes when baby wants.
16. Play some devotional songs etc or poems when baby is being sponged. Or after / during bathing time.

Difference between Parental Discipline and Discrimination
Refusing to put away your adoptive little one's toys, after he has left the mess post-play is not discrimination it is called disciplining the child.
Any child, adopted or not, old or young, girl or boy, has been through this disciplining phase. And it is an important part in the development of any child, both emotional and physiological.
At the outset, let us understand the difference between disciplining and punishment. Punishment is a reactive method of showing the child the right path – it is undertaken once the child has committed a mistake.
However, discipline is more pre-emptive. It is about setting the guidelines for the child beforehand, and also clearly stating the repercussions of doing it incorrectly.
The reason for stating this clarification is to highlight that disciplining your little one can never be discriminatory, simply since you are trying to show her the right path. However, punishment can.
Here are some tips by which you can ensure that your disciplining is not seen as discriminatory.
Keep The Rules Same for All Kids during Play Dates
As a parent, you definitely have realistic rules laid out for your kids, adoptive or otherwise, at home. When you plan play dates with their mates at your place, make sure you go over the same with all of them. When your kids see that the others have accepted it easily enough, they will know that the rules remain the same across families.
You may want to speak to the parents of the other kids to ensure you are all in agreement as far as the rules go, so that no disparate view comes up in the kids’ private conversation.
Develop A Confidante in Her School, Preferably Her Teacher
Your little one’s teacher or playschool instructor is the only outsider who spends a considerable amount of time with her on a consistent basis. So, take her into confidence with your doubts. She may be able to help you by dropping some hints at school – questioning everybody about rules at home regarding toys, or reinforcing the rules at school. She could also tell you if she finds any of the rules laid down by you are age-inappropriate for a child.
The Rules Remain The Same for All Kids in The House
Make sure that rules remain the same for all kids in the house, then be it visitors or siblings. There cannot be two sets of rules among children, unless it involves safety of one child. And in that case, make your reasons amply clear to both of them, so as to avoid any ugly confrontations later.
Set Aside Time to Be Spent with Each Child Every Day
No matter how busy you are, or how tiring the day may have been, be sure to set aside time for each of your children, so that you may discuss the day with them or take up any pending issues that only the two of you need be privy to. Matters of discipline may be brought up during this time.
Do Not Admonish Your Kids in Front of Others
This is a strict no-no. Any displeasure should be aired, only once you are back home, and where you are both given the opportunity to express yourselves. Sometimes, what seems like bad behaviour to us can be a reaction to something equally terrible or even worse behavior on your part.
However, in our quest to behave as the perfect parents with perfectly-mannered kids, we refuse to hear our kid’s side of the story. Disciplining can be a very positive experience for the children when undertaken with the right levels of dialogue between parent and child. Read more
