Home Remedies to End All Your Hair Woes This Monsoon
Ask any woman, and she’ll tell you that rain is her hair’s worst enemy. Right from frizziness to hair fall, rain brings with it problems that you just can’t deal with. Especially if you’re a mother who can barely find time to breathe, let alone go to the salon for hour-long treatments. The good news is, these problems can be tackled quite easily at home when you’re prepared, and we’ll tell you just how. Here are some common hair problems mothers face during pregnancy, and a few ways to banish them forever!
1. Greasy scalp
Women typically complain of a greasy scalp during monsoon, while the ends may still remain dry or normal. This is due to humidity, which leads to oil buildup. When not treated, a greasy scalp can cause further issues such as dandruff, not to forget, making your hair look limp. Dilute 1/4th cup of lemon juice with 2 cups of water and rinse your hair with this mixture as the last step of your hair wash routine. Lemon juice takes away excess grease and adds volume to the hair.
2. Dandruff
Greasy scalp is the number one cause for dandruff, which occurs when the scalp sheds white flaky dead skin cells. The scalp also feels incredibly itchy, which is a major cause of distress in most mothers. The condition can also be a result of sensitivity to products, dry scalp, or fungal infection. There are a number of home remedies for dandruff, such as applying a fenugreek hair mask, which does wonders for your hair.
3. Hair fall
The chemicals and dirt in rainwater can cause hair fall. Moreover, the humidity during monsoon causes dandruff, which further leads to hair fall, when not treated. Double-whammy! Applying a 15-minute hair mask with 1/4 cup of amla pulp, 1/4 cup of yoghurt and 1/2 cup of onion juice can make your hair stronger, preventing hair fall in the long run. Vitamin E is also great for hair and skin, so add 2 capsules of Vitamin E oil to the mask for better results.
4. Frizzy hair
Frizziness is a major hair concern for women, during the monsoon season. Whether you have straight hair or curly hair, you’re bound to face this problem, unless you’re genetically blessed. Thankfully, there are numerous ways to make sure you don’t look like you’re growing a bird’s nest on your head, this monsoon. Our favourite is a mixture of coconut oil and Vitamin E oil.
5. Dull hair
Where frizziness goes, dull hair follows. Humidity, dandruff, and frizziness can make your hair look limp and dry. An apple cider rinse takes care of both, dull and frizzy hair, killing two birds with one stone. Mix 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar and 1/2 cup of water, and rinse your hair with this mixture as the last step of your hair wash routine. The apple cider vinegar balances pH levels, getting rid of frizziness and restoring a lustrous look to the hair.
Don’t let the monsoon stop you from showing off shiny, smooth, and bouncy hair. Having a baby may make it hard to spend hours on your hair, but healthy hair is just 15 minutes away. Identify your concerns, and with a few simple steps, you’ll have healthy hair that looks like you just stepped out of the salon.

The Voice Within Me Always Says, "You Are Not a Normal Woman"
It's been 2 years since I got married! My little angel is 7 months old and I am here still searching for myself...
What am i really capable of?
I, being a liable housewife and an impeccable mom have always been reputed by my in-laws for cooking, maintaining the house and taking care of my family free of error...but is this what I am really capable of?
Roshini Sharma became the first Indian woman to ride a motorbike from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
Shila Dawre became India's first woman auto rickshaw driver.
Arunima Sinha was the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest.
Arati Saha became the first Indian/Asian woman to swim across the English Channel in the year 1959.
When women are busy seeking the wonders on Earth, I am here, still searching for myself.
When women presently have the willpower to navigate to the end of the world, I am here still searching for myself.
So, is this the end?
No. This will be my beginning. When my voice was being questioned, I realised that I am really competent to outset and make progress. It will happen. My first step will be very soon...
When the voice within me said YOU CAN, I always could!
When it said, you can wake up by 5:30 am, I was able to.
When it said, you can finish your cooking by 7 am, I was able to.
When it said, YOU CAN, YOU CAN, YOU CAN...
I was able to do each and every thing!
That voice within me will never sleep...and since it's so restless, it will sure fulfil its desire.
As I enjoy motherhood, I will search the best within me and one day show my might!
And do you know the reason for my confidence?
It's the voice within me that always says, "YOU ARE NOT A NORMAL WOMAN."

Bringing up a Sexually Healthy Child
It is very important for parents to hold mature discussions on sexuality with their kids. It is normal to feel embarrassed to talk about it at first, but they need to overcome this inhibition and realize that sexuality is an important aspect of value education. Let us now look at how parents can raise sexually healthy children.
Parents, sometimes have this misconception, that talking about sexuality means talking about sex. However, this is not true. Sexuality is a very diverse subject to talk about. It is about the feelings and thoughts that a child holds for her developing body. It is about how she feels about love, intimacy and attention.
Parents should not wait for one fine day to 'just talk' or 'lecture' on sexuality. Learning about sexuality is an ongoing process which starts right from adolescence, when children start questioning the difference between a boy and a girl or how they came into this world. Let us look at how parents can raise children who are sexually healthy:
How To Raise Sexually Healthy Children
1. Start conversations at a young age
There is no perfect day or time to talk about sexuality. As and when the child grows and starts questioning or observing things, it is important for you to pass on the knowledge to her. It is a gradual process and will help you in the later stages.
2. Don't feel shy
If your child observes your under-confidence and you shying away from talking about sexuality, it will leave a negative impact on her. She will develop a shyness towards accepting and talking about sexuality too.
3. Find out what your child knows
It is important to know what information your child already holds on the subject. If you realise that the information she has got from her peers or elsewhere is wrong or may lead her to develop wrong notions on the subject, correct her then and there.
4. Give true facts
Your child may not have the right idea about certain things on this subject. It is important for you to give her the right knowledge and state true facts.
5. Be prepared to answer
You should be well equipped with answers for your child's questions. You might be attacked with questions about sex, periods, same-sex attraction, etc. Always remember to give a proper and positive reply.
6. Look out for 'Teachable Moments'
Don't always wait for your child to question you on the subject. You will need to look out for opportunities and 'teachable moments', where you can explain to your child certain things about sexuality. For example, when she sees a pregnant woman on TV, talk to her about the time when you were conceiving and how the pregnancy thing works. You need not give out technical terms; use simple and clear words.
7. Help in making healthy choices
You need to start explaining the difference between 'good touch' and 'bad touch' right from adolescence. However, it gets tricky when kids enter puberty. You will need to explain to her about the importance of staying independent and firm on her thoughts and beliefs. You will need to encourage her to make good and healthy decisions.
8. Do not avoid talking about sex
You cannot avoid talking to her about sex and pregnancy. You will need to explain to her the impact of having unprotected sex at an early age. You will need to make her understand that it can cause STD's (sexually transmitted diseases) and even unwanted pregnancy.
9. Awareness about laws
It is important for you to make your child aware about the different laws that exist for sex and sexuality. Get her information about the laws made for same-sex relationships or live-in relationships, and make her read about it. Also, make her aware of the points of contacts, in case they experience cyber bullying and harassment or physical abuse with sexual intentions etc. Also, tell her that if she becomes a victim of any such instances, she should come to you first.
Your child will be constantly exposed to the subject of sexuality through media and friends. However, she’ll always look for support and guidance to be more informed about this subject from you. So it is important that you deliver positive responses in the best possible way, so she emerges as a sexually healthy individual, and has a positive outlook towards the topic of sex. Read more

Handling a new born from dad's perspective. An initial experience
It's been one month since our Aayansh is born. There have been lot of confusions and challenges about parenting. It's very difficult to understand newborns signals and requests. The closer you get to him the more time you give to him, he will also support you equally. Now our baby can give us signals for things he wants. And luckily we can understand them too. This one month has been a amazing journey. You can feel as if you are growing with the baby. You are learning things with him. Your patience will be tested many times but when you see his cute smile all your worries will go to hell. He sparks a new begining in your life. New aura that defines your promotion in life. But one thing I could guarantee you is that whatever challenges you face be it colic, mood changes, hunger etc your baby needs you around the most. When he feels your presence and encouragement he could face all challenges and learn to tackle it on his own. So suggesting for the new parents he needs you around that's the most important thing. One more thing or you can call it a tip is don't belive in superstitions, always belive in proven facts. Read lot of experience articles by parents and experts and belive in those facts while handling your baby.
Regarding dad's perspective it's more tough since you have the responsibility to make him encourage to do new things. Make him learn new lessons which will be beneficial for him in his path to adulthood. So we have to be careful in what we teach him, how we teach him and also don't get yourself carried away at times when child responds to your teachings more often. It's a step wise process so take it slowly and steadily. This will make you a great parent. Be wid your kid and your wife that must be the first priority. Read more
