Home Remedies for Bee Stings that Will Help You Combat Its Effects
Do you always tend to shoo away a bee when it seems to be hovering around you? If the answer is yes, you may simply be increasing your chances of getting stung by it. Honey bees are more likely to sting when they feel endangered. Flapping your arms at the bee may send aggressive signals to it, prompting it to sting. In most situations, holding still may encourage the honey bee to meander and fly away. Occasionally a bee sting can cause severe complications especially if someone is allergic to the sting’s venom. But mostly bee stings merely result in some discomfort. Home remedies can be real life-savers in times like these.
How to Remove the Bee Stinger Embedded in Your Skin?
In an instance of a bee sting, first and foremost check the sting site. In case the bee stinger is stuck in the skin, try and get rid of it by cleaning the skin area with gauze. You can also try scraping it gently using a fingernail or a set of tweezers. Refrain from squeezing the stinger out by hand or pinching it as it can inject the venom deeper into the skin. It often takes only mere seconds for the damaging poison to enter the body. Taking out the stinger along with its venom sac embedded in the skin may prevent any further irritation. Next, clean the spot with water and antiseptic soap. Pat dry and apply some calamine lotion or ice the area to reduce the swelling and itching.
How to Treat Bee Stings Naturally?
Home remedies can help ease the symptoms of a bee sting. You can try the following therapies:
1. Honey
The antiseptic properties of honey can aid in healing the wound and lessening the inflammation and itching.
How to Use It
Rub a small amount of honey on the bee sting spot for it to wield its way effectively into the infection. Conceal with a bandage loosely tied and leave it on for an hour or so.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar can be one of the potent natural remedies for bee sting itch as it has anti-itching qualities.
How to Use It
Apply diluted apple cider vinegar on the are you were stung to stave off the adverse effects of a bee sting. You can also soak a clean cloth or bandage in the vinegar and place it on the puncture site.
3. Baking Soda
Baking Soda can be another good option for curing bee sores naturally as it has disinfectant abilities.
How to Use It
Make a paste by mixing some water in baking soda. Smear a dense layer of the paste on the bee bite location to neutralise the hostile symptoms of a bee sting. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. Reapply as required.
4. Essential Oils
They yield therapeutic and medicinal properties and can be an excellent natural remedy for bee tingles. Essential oils that can be used to treat bee stings may include:
Tea Tree Oil - It can effectively soothe the burning, redness and itchiness that frequently accompanies a bee bite.
Lavender Essential Oil - It can not only disinfect the wound but also calm the stinging and pain of a bee puncture.
Witch Hazel - It is a powerful astringent owing to the high content of tannins present in its leaves. It can purify the skin of bacteria and calm inflammation.
How to Use It
The lavender essential oil can be used undiluted. Applying it neat can help in taking away the burning and stinging sensation almost right away. Dilute tea tree oil by mixing it with any carrier oils like olive or coconut oil before dabbing a few drops onto the sting spot. You can put on witch hazel directly on the troubled area to get relief from itching and inflammation.
5. Toothpaste
Alkaline white toothpaste is believed to help nullify the acidic bee tingle thus lessening swelling and pain. Do not use coloured gel or whitening toothpaste.
How to Use It
Blob a bit of the toothpaste on the concerned area to alleviate the pain.
6. Papaya
It contains an enzyme called papain which is supposed to support the breaking down of the protein that produces itching and pain.
How to Use It
Just smear a chunk of the fruit on the sting place and leave it on for about 30 minutes or so.
7. Aloe Vera
It has anti-inflammatory and analgesic abilities which can hasten the healing process and soothe the irritating manifestations of a sting.
How to Use it
Split open a leaf of an Aloe Vera plant and extract the gel. Spread the gel on the sting area and allow it to dry.
8. Ice
Ice can numb the pain and decrease the swelling thus bringing immediate respite. An ice compress may be very convenient to apply in the occurrence of a bee sting on eyes, lips or hands.
How to Use it
Drop some ice cubes in a thin, clean cloth and tie it to make a compress. Hold the cold pack onto the bothered spot for about 10 to 15 minutes. Reapply regularly until swelling and pain reduce. You can also use a bag of frozen vegetables or a cold-water bottle.
Tips to Remember
Some useful tips to bear in mind while dealing with honey bees can be:
In case you encounter bees flying about you, try and stay calm. Cover your vulnerable body parts like nose, mouth and unhurriedly walk away from the place.
Avoid hitting and whacking at bees which may incite them to attack you as a way of self-defence.
Refrain from rubbing the disturbed area vigorously as it can heighten the chances of infection and worsen the wound.
While eating out in the open, keep food containers covered to avoid attracting insects like wasps and bees.
In case you are wearing any jewellery on the sting location, immediately take it off as it may be tough to remove it later after the swelling.
Consider seeking professional help to remove any beehives around your house as a precautionary measure.
If a bee strikes on your arm or leg, elevating that particular body part may help mitigate the symptoms.
You can also manage mild bee sting symptoms by using over-the-counter medicines like hydrocortisone creams, Benadryl, ibuprofen that can help diminish swelling, redness and pain.
FAQs
Some of the frequently asked questions are:
1. What Symptoms Will I Experience when A Bee Stings Me?
Different people can experience varying symptoms ranging from brief pain and distress to severe allergic reactions. Common minor signs include a sharp burning ache, red bump with a tiny white spot in the middle, itching and inflammation at the sting spot. Minor symptoms usually disappear within a few days. Moderate symptoms may take around a week to resolve.
2. When to See A Doctor?
Most bee stings get cured without treatment. However, in case you get stung several times, it can result in complications or even prove life-threatening.
Moreover, bee stings can trigger a severe reaction in people who are allergic. If swelling spreads to other body parts like tongue, throat, it may indicate a grave bee sting allergic reaction. Other signs may consist of an increased pulse rate, hives, nausea, vomiting, pale skin, dizziness, diarrhoea, difficulty in breathing or an anaphylactic shock. In such instances, refer to a doctor right away. Also, if you get a bee sting swelling on the eyelid, see a doctor immediately due to the sensitivity of the location.
3. What Happens if You Don't Get A Bee Stinger Out?
When a bee stings, its stinger often shoots into the skin. The stinger has a sack of toxic venom which can negatively impact the body. The longer the stinger remains, the more poison may enter into the body causing pain and swelling. If you don’t get the bee stinger out, the deadly venom can get released into the body which may lead to allergic reactions or even cause death.
4. Is it Normal for A Bee Sting to Itch A Week Later?
It is best to seek medical help if a bee sting continues to itch a week later to avert any probable worries.
The bottom line is, bee stings are no fun and are painful. Home based remedies can relieve mild discomfort. However severe reactions may warrant immediate medical assistance. Hence, it is essential that you can recognise signs of a severe allergic reaction.

External Cephalic Version(ECV) Technique For Breech Baby
External Cephalic Version (or ECV) is a manual procedure that is used to turn a baby from its breech position (bottom or foot facing down) to a head-first position.
This article discusses how the ECV procedure is performed, along with when it should be done (or not) and the outcome and risk factors of this procedure.
The Breech Baby Position
The Breech baby position is a foetal position where the baby’s bottom or feet is facing downwards, instead of the normal head position. It occurs in around 3-5% of pregnant women after 37 to 40 weeks of pregnancy.
The probability of childhood handicap for a breech baby is as high as 16%, irrespective of the mode of the baby’s delivery.
Most babies in breech position are delivered through Caesarean (or C-section) instead of vaginal births.
What Is An External Cephalic Version Procedure or ECV?
External Cephalic Version (or ECV) is a manual procedure where the breech baby (or foetus) is externally rotated from its breech position first to a sideways position and then finally to a head-first position. This ECV pregnancy procedure enables pregnant women to deliver their babies through the normal vaginal birth, rather than undergoing a C-section.
ECV procedure comprises of the following components:
Foetal monitoring
Version procedure
1. Foetal Monitoring
During this step, the foetus is closely monitored to avoid any harm during the version procedure. Monitoring can be done through foetal ultrasound to confirm the position of the placenta. An electronic foetal heart monitoring is used to measure the heart rate. A foetus, whose heart rate increases at a normal rate with its movement, is a healthy one, which is suitable for the version procedure.
2. Version Procedure
During this procedure, your doctor will place both hands on your foetus’s head and buttocks in order to attempt turning it to a head-down position. Before the procedure, you will be administered tocolytic medicines such as terbutaline to relax your uterus.
Your doctor may recommend additional version procedures if the first attempt is not successful.
Why Is ECV Procedure Performed?
The ECV procedure is performed after 37 weeks of pregnancy. Though most babies repeatedly keep changing positions throughout the pregnancy, they usually settle into a cephalic (or head-down) position by the 36th week. According to statistics, 1 in every 25 babies is in a breech position after 36 weeks. Even though breech babies can take the natural position in the last month, the chances of this happening are about 1 in 8 (for first pregnancies) and 1 in 3 (for second and subsequent pregnancies).
At this stage, your doctor may recommend the ECV procedure before the start of your labour.
When Is ECV Procedure Done?
According to 2016 statistics, 93.2% of the breech babies in the U.S. are delivered through Caesarean operation. This has led to a rapid growth of baby deliveries happening through Caesarean.
ECV procedure is done to improve the probability of a natural vaginal birth.
When Is The ECV Procedure Not Recommended?
An ECV procedure is not recommended for expecting mothers, if they:
Are having other pregnancy-related complications
Have any other medical complications (such as heart problems) that prevent them from consuming tocolytic medicines.
Are expecting twins or triplets
Are carrying a uterus with unusual shape
Have had a caesarean operation previously
Have low levels of amniotic fluid surrounding the foetus
Are having placenta praevia (or low-lying placenta), where the placenta is low or covering the cervix, which can block the baby’s path on the way out.
Additionally, the ECV procedure is not done when:
The amniotic sac (or the water bag) has ruptured.
The foetus has a hyper-extended head, or some birth defect.
What Is The Outcome Of ECV?
The use of the ECV procedure can reduce the 3-4% of breech births to around 1%. ECV also contributes towards reduction in premature labour, breech-related complications, and premature babies.
Although there is a chance that following the ECV procedure, the baby can turn back into the breech position, ECV can improve the overall chances of having a normal vaginal birth.
Is This Procedure Painful?
An ECV procedure usually lasts for around 3 hours. As ECV is a non-invasive procedure, the pain or discomfort factor is restricted to a limited time. However, based on patient response, the pain perception of the expecting mother is largely influenced by the success (or failure) of the procedure, along with the length of the procedure. Most women, who underwent longer procedures or a failed version, have reported more pain. On the other hand, women who underwent a successful ECV have reported less pain.
Risks Of External Cephalic Version
While foetus monitoring can reduce the risks of ECV, there are potential risks associated with ECV, including:
The umbilical cord getting twisted or squeezed, thus reducing blood flow and oxygen to the foetus.
Labour inducement, caused by the rupturing of the amniotic sac.
Rare complications such as Placenta abrio, uterus rupture, or damage to the umbilical cord.
What Is The Success Rate Of This Procedure?
ECV has an average success rate of 58%. According to 2016 statistics in the U.S., 68% of the women who had a successful ECV went on to have a normal vaginal birth, while only 25.2% underwent a C-section.
Can Someone With A Previous C-Section Have This Procedure?
According to the latest medical research studies, women who have already undergone a C-section can benefit from an ECV procedure for their subsequent pregnancies. Researchers have concluded that women with previous C-section have a success rate (50%) at ECV, quite close to the success rate (51.6%) for women who have not undergone any previous C-section.
Factors That Might Affect The Success Rate Of Versions
The success of the ECV procedure is dependent on multiple individual factors, including:
The skill of the physician performing the ECV
The information provided to the pregnant woman, along with her motivation to avoid a Caesarean.
The physician’s willingness to stop the ECV procedure in the event of any complication or additional effort.
Other factors that contribute strongly to the ECV success rate are:
The pregnant woman, undergoing the procedure, has previously given birth.
The baby is not engaged in the pelvis.
The physician performing the ECV can feel the baby’s head on palpitation.
What If The Version Doesn’t Work?
Depending on the breech position of your baby and other individual factors, a normal vaginal birth is still a possibility, even if the ECV procedure does not succeed.
Things To Consider
An ECV procedure carries a minor risk of causing bleeding, which could lead to the mixing of the mother’s and the baby’s blood. To prevent this, pregnant women with Rh-negative blood type is injected with Rh immunoglobin to prevent a condition called Rh sensitization, which can lead to complications in future pregnancies.
What Methods Can You Try Other Than ECV?
If you do not want to opt for the ECV procedure, there are alternative methods to consider, including:
Expectant management, which is based on the likelihood of a conversion to cephalic presentation from a breech presentation, quoted at around 3%.
Trial of labour, which can be a viable alternative for selected expectant mothers including multiparous females with proven pelvis, a full-term foetus, and complete cervical dilation.
ECV during labour, which suggests that ECV on the onset of labour is safe for pregnant women with their membranes intact.
Postural manoeuvres, which comprises of pelvic elevation in the hands & knees position or with a wedge for pelvis support.
Moxibustion & Acupuncture, where moxibustion is an ancient Chinese practice using a Chinese herb, which is burnt close to the mother’s acupuncture point.
The right position in the womb goes a long way in ensuring a safe delivery both for the child and the mother. Speaking to your doctor about opting for an ECV, if the baby is breech, is the best way to determine if it is a procedure which is suited to you, or if there are any alternatives you may try instead.

Common Online Frauds and Tips to Avoid Them
Nearly the entire world has gone cashless and is comfortable with online transactions. There is, however, just a fraction of people in India who are wary and careful while making online transactions. Although most people believe that the Internet has become a much safer place, there is still a chance that you might fall prey to malicious tricks that attempt to steal your identity, data and money.
The methods, tools, and the modes of operation used by tricksters differ each time and they attempt to outsmart you with growing ingenuity. It is nearly impossible to catch the perpetrator in most cases due to geographical boundaries and political barriers. Let us help you understand the top frauds you should be aware of.
Top Internet Frauds You Should Be Aware of
Amongst millions of scams being peddled all over the world, we list the most tried and popular online fraud types that you should safeguard yourself against.
1. Identity Theft
This scam involves the use of malware or spear phishing to gain information regarding an individual’s identity which the perpetrator begins using as their own.
2. Credit Card Scams
Seemingly innocent links ask for your credit card or banking information, and once this information is accessed, the hacker uses your credit cards and bank accounts to make purchases.
3. Online Shopping Fraud
Shopping scams and frauds are rampant all around where the buyer doesn’t receive their goods after completion of payment. Sometimes duplicate goods are delivered against large payments. There are many fake shopping portals on the internet. There are some that have no stock, warehouse, or inventory while claiming to have reasonably priced goods from famous brands. The instances of online shopping fraud in India have risen sharply over the last few years.
4. Work-from-home Scams
Taking advantage of a section of people who are looking for flexible job options or re-entry into the workforce, scam artists promise financial independence and big earnings in return for a few hours of work done from home. Upfront registration fees are extracted for job applications. The perpetrators vanish into the virtual world once payments are made.
5. Sweepstakes Scam
This scam involves misleading individuals into thinking they have won a lottery or bumper prize. The person is asked to transfer a fee to mail the prize over.
6. Investment Fraud
Hackers pretend to have superior knowledge about financial investments and dupe people into investing large sums of money on dubious or non-existent firms.
7. Dating and Matrimonial Scams
Scores of people are duped into romantic relationships with fraudsters who then trick the victim of all their money by stating some financial trouble or urgent health issue. Once the money is received, the person becomes untraceable. Online matrimonial frauds sometimes involve a massive setup with fake parents, siblings, job, colleagues etc. being brought into the picture to convince the victim.

8. West African Scam
This scheme mostly involves names of supposed Nigerian aristocrats whose accounts have been frozen and who want your help to relocate themselves and their money. They ask you to transfer an initial bank processing fee to a said account after which a sizeable amount of money would be shared to your account. After you pay the fees, there will be no trace of this aristocrat that you have been interacting with.
9. Job Offer Scams
Tricksters create fake email addresses of reputed companies and send emails to people offering them a job. This is one of the largest online frauds in India, and it plays on the financial needs and vulnerability of someone who is looking for a job. Once a person responds, they are asked to pay a certain amount which will guarantee them a job. If you make the payment, you are made to take some tests and declared ineligible for the said profile.
10. Social Media Profile Hacking
Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram seem to be the most popular social media applications with people sharing tons of personal information online. Fraudsters find easy victims and hijack their identity. Sometimes it is a simple matter of posting unlawful or grotesque content by the hacker while pretending to be you. This could alienate your close friends from you in minutes and break families in a snap of a second.
Tips to Stay Safe from Online Scams
It is crucial that you learn to recognise signs of a scam, fraudulent URLs, false email IDs and the like. It may be hard to recover from online fraud and prevention is the best way forward.
1. Avoid Opening Unsolicited Messages
Although you are still in the safe zone by just opening a phishing email, you often get virus and malware on your system by clicking any link in these emails. Check for signs like the sender's email ID, the way they have greeted you, hover over any link to see the complete URL, and also check for grammatically incorrect sentences. Do not click suspicious links and volunteer any personal information through such emails.
2. Have Strong and Complex Passwords
Always have a strong alpha-numeric password with a minimum of one uppercase letter, and one symbol included. Do not use familiar information like your flat number, date of birth, child’s name, etc. as your password. Do not have the same password for all your accounts and credentials. Never use the same password for work and personal information either.
3. Constantly Update Your Social Media Privacy Settings
Be sure to update your privacy settings because social media platforms keep making changes to their web pages and applications. You may not realise when you are leaving yourself vulnerable to swindlers.
4. Use Trusted Anti-virus Protection
Do not skimp on good anti-virus protection. Local and untested brands may come to you for a lower price but may cost you much more in the bargain. Check the firewall settings and update your software protection regularly. Run antivirus scans and clean-ups periodically so that you don’t have virus or firmware on your device.
5. Do Not Transact on Public Wi-Fi
Never make monetary transactions while you are connected to a public network. This is the easiest way to access your data, passwords, and financial information. Always use encrypted and secure connections while making important transactions.
6. Shop Only on Recognised Websites and Use Secure Payment Gateways
Do your online shopping only with well-known websites. If you see an offer on a website that seems too good to be true, it is a fake in all probability. Research the sellers, the ratings, reviews and such before you make a purchase. Make payments through secure gateways that have https:// in place of http://. This makes sure that the security standards are up to the mark.
7. Never Trust People with Sensitive Information
Conmen will use any method to get to you. There are instances when they pose as tech support for your device and ask for sensitive information that allows them to access your computer or your hard drive and steal all personal information. If you find sales personnel, customer support staff, or technicians asking for such sensitive information, stop them and do some research on them, their company and their credentials.
It is easy to get swayed by people who seem trustworthy, helpful, and who go out of the way to be nice. But you should understand that the implications are troubling and foul. If you feel that you are getting pulled into any online scam of any sort, get in touch with numbers for online frauds complaint in India. You could log in to the Digital Police website and register a complaint too.
Staying abreast of the latest scams and online frauds definitely protects your money. Although we do many things online now, it does pay to display a little bit of caution by not posting everything on social media. It makes sense, also, not to store all your passwords and financial details on a device that could compromise your safety. The saying- "Better safe than sorry" is indeed true in the face of online scams. Stay updated and stay safe when you do anything online.

You should have proper consultation with your treating doctor , as some examination or investigations may be needful, so that proper medications can be given And the treatment can be done very properly.

A. since the follicle size is 18 to 20 mm your ovulation may occur within 24 hours also so if you have intercourse with in that time it will be more effective to get conceived
your endometrial growth is not good enough for conception but still you can just try

A. Hello dear! If your pregnancy is going on fine without any high risk factors then it’s okay. Still, would advise you to check with your doctor once before going further. Maintain a good personal hygiene routine and a healthy lifestyle
