How to Get Rid of Lizards from Home with Simple and Effective Ways
Keeping your home pest-free is one way to ensure hygiene and avoid getting startled by them at every corner of the house. Opening your cupboards and drawers, only to find an unpleasant sight of lizards isn’t something that you will fancy. While most lizards are generally harmless, their presence in the house is not something you should have to put up with. Gila monster, Mexican Beaded Lizard, and the Komodo Dragon are the only 3 kinds of lizards that are venomous. But, your average household lizards are at best visually repelling and give you a squirmy and unsettling feel. This is heightened substantially if you are someone with Herpetophobia – the fear of reptiles. Getting reliable, simple methods to get rid of the lizards is nothing short of a survival skill in such cases.
How to Remove Lizards from Home Naturally?
There are several simple home remedies to get rid of lizards that you can employ within your house. Here are a few that you can try for useful results.
1. Coffee
Balls made of coffee and tobacco mix are ideal to get rid of lizards. You can place these balls in every corner of the house, and you may see that the lizards clear out or die.
2. Naphthalene Balls
Place some naphthalene balls around your home, in every drawer, cupboard, or corner. Lizards find the pungent smell of these balls irritable and stay away.
3. Pepper Spray
Stir some pepper powder in water and spray it around in the house where you see lizards. They are allergic to pepper and will stay away due to irritation.
4. Coldwater
Lizards love the warmth and are primarily found in warm places. A remedy to this is to splash cold water on the lizard, which hinders the mobility of the lizard when you can catch it and dispose of it.
5. Peacock Feather
Lizards find peacocks intimidating as the latter is known to make a meal out of lizards. Hence peacock feather should keep lizards away.
6. Eggshells
Eggshells have a pungent smell that makes lizards nauseated. They also give them an impression that there is a bigger creature close-by, inducing fear.
7. Tobasco Sauce Spray
Mix one or two tablespoons of the sauce with water and fill it into a spray can. You spray this on your walls or places where you often find lizards to keep them away.
8. Onion
The Sulfur in onion gives out a pungent smell that lizards can’t tolerate. You can cut out some slices and keep them around the house or mix onion juice with water and spray it.
9. Garlic
Placing garlic cloves around the house will give out a strong smell that will help prevent lizards from coming in. You can also mix some garlic juice with water and spray it for the same effect.
10. Flypaper
Flypaper is as good at catching lizards as it is at catching flies. Stick some of these papers on the wall, and you’ll find some lizards trapped to the adhesive. You can quickly dispose of them later.
11. Phenyl Tablets
You can place phenyl tablets around the house to drive lizards away. These tablets have an odour that is not appealing to lizards, which will keep them away.
12. Lemongrass
The citrusy smell of lemongrass is a great option to ward off lizards while keeping your house smelling nice too. Just keep some blades of lemongrass around your home.
Commercial Repellent Options to Get Rid of Lizards
If you are figuring out how to kick out lizards from home permanently, here are a few commercial options you may want to try.
Natural pest sprays that can be sprayed around the house to kill lizards
Organic granules that can get rid of pests, including lizards
Electronic pest repelling devices that can spray pesticides and insecticides
Pest repelling sprays that don’t kill the lizard but prevent them from entering the house
Measures to Take for Keeping Lizards Away
Apart from opting for extreme measures to keep your home lizard-free, you can also follow a few necessary steps to avoid having to deal with a lizard infestation. Following the below dos and don’ts can be a great way of keeping lizards away from entering the home.
Dos
Keep your house clean. A well-kept home will have fewer damp, dusty and closed off spots that can be appealing to a lizard
Close your windows and doors
Seal off any cracks, holes or openings that may serve as an entry point for the lizards or other pests
Lizards get attracted to lights like many other pests. So, turn off your lights when you aren’t in the room or when you don’t need it
Install metal screens to cover your open windows to prevent lizards from getting in
Do not cram up things within the house and leave the right amount of space, about 5 or 6 inches between your furniture and the walls to avoid giving lizards cosy hiding spots
Keep your home insect-free. With no prey to hunt, lizards will shun your house too
Owning a cat can also keep pests at bay
Don’ts
Frames and hangings on the walls give lizards plenty of hiding spots. Limit the number of wall hangings that you have.
Try not to spill food or drinks on the floor
Stagnant water is where mosquitoes and insects breed and hence quite attractive to lizards. Clear out any stagnant water
Clear out trash cans regularly
Lizards are an unsightly addition to your home, especially if you cannot stand them. It is wise to get rid of them and keep your house clean and pest-free using the methods mentioned above. In addition to it, you can also get a cat which will kill or chase the lizards away. If you want to remove them without causing any harm to them, you can try trapping them in a cardboard box and releasing them outside.

Essentials to pack in hospital bag for Expecting Mommy and baby
As the third trimester starts, you just can't wait to hold your baby in your hands and hear his cry. You are all set to welcome your baby. You start collecting the items that you and the baby might need but it becomes very difficult to decide what to pack in your hospital bag. You don't want to over-pack and at the same time you shouldn't miss something that you might need there.
Here is an exhaustive list that you can rely on and be carefree during your delivery.
1. Medical records: These are most important as it has your medical history during pregnancy. This aids the doctors to know what medications or allergies you have gone through your pregnancy.
2. Company identity card: Most of the companies offer maternity benefit and insurance. You will be needing your company identity card and insurance related documents to avail that.
3. Toiletries: Either you deliver naturally or by C-section, you will be staying in hospital for three to five days. You will be needing your dental kit and daily cosmetics like kajal, lip balm, body lotion, comb etc. Don't forget to pack Talcum powder as you won't be taking a bath immediately after delivery and talcum powder will make you feel fresh. Mostly hospitals provide sanitizer but you can carry one to be safe as you wouldn't want people to carry your newborn with unhygienic hands. Most importantly, you need to stock up on maternity pads.
4. Wet wipes and tissues: As you will be not be getting off the hospital bed immediately after delivery, wet wipes will help you to wipe your hands and face during that time. Carry a pack of tissues as it also comes in handy for various things.
5. Clothing: Most of the hospitals have uniform for the patients so you don't need to worry about that but you have to carry your inner wears. Pack up a shawl or jacket and socks as you might feel cold. Don't forget the nursing bras as it will help you in the initial days. Do pack a lovely & comfortable outfit for returning home with your little one; as you both will be clicked during the grand welcome.
6. Gadgets: You won't be leaving your cellphone behind but don't forget to take its charger along with you. You can also carry tablet and its charger to kill time in hospital. It better to carry your earphones if you want some 'me' time there.
7. Miscellaneous: Some other things will you will need are your wallet, water bottle, glass, bowl & spoon (to feed the baby in initial days), flip-flops, a notebook & a pen, spectacles & its case ( if you use one), hand towel and cushion or pillow (if you have a special one).
This was all about the expecting mother but you need to be ready for the baby too. Right?
Here is a list which will help you pack for the baby:
2-3 Swaddle clothes
5-6 set of clothes
2-3 set of warm clothes (for winter season)
2-3 socks/booties & mittens sets
2 dozen cotton nappies - as you have to monitor the urine output in initial days and this makes it easier
2-3 quick dry sheets
Baby blanket
Baby wipes
Baby cosmetics: Baby powder, Baby Lotion, Baby Oil, Rash cream
1 pack of new born diapers - go for diapers instead of pants as it is easier to use
Bibs & napkins
Small towel
Hope this list helps you pack better and let you be more prepared.
Pack your bags in advance and keep it ready by the door to avoid last minute rush.
All the best!

How to Make Your Child Interested in Studying
As parents we expect our children to do well in all spheres of life. However, we may put our child under the burden of unnecessary expectations. These expectations may sometimes create an aversion from studies. Therefore, what should you do to encourage your child to study without causing a protest? The following article explains how to make your child interested in studying.
Best Ways to Motivate your Kids to Study
In today’s world where everyone wishes to excel, we, as parents, also face undue stress to encourage our kid to study well and perform well in academics too. We will discuss the best ways of encouraging children to learn and study:
1. Sit With Your Kid
The best thing that you can do as a parent for motivating your kid to study is by sitting with him when he sits for studying. However, refrain from using your mobile or laptop. Instead, do your pending office work or read a book.
2. Lay Stress on Learning and Not Grades
Though good grades are important to score, if your kid is struggling with getting good grades, it will be a good idea to shift his focus to learning. Ask him about day to day activities in the class and what he learnt in the class.
3. Be on Your Kid’s Side
Do not put pressure on your kid to score well or get better grades. Be nice and gentle with him and try and understand things from his perspective. Try to make your kid responsible towards his studies in a positive manner, as any kind of negativity may make a rebel out of him and this could make him relent and defy you.
4. Discuss Studies
Talk to kid about what he did in every subject in the class on each day. Asking him about it will keep him more alert in the class. Know about his favourite subject, favourite class and favourite teacher too.
5. Make a Study Schedule
Anything that is followed and done in a systematic manner always yield a positive outcome and the same goes for studies. Make a schedule and adhere to it. Studying does not require doing homework only rather you should keep time for revising the concepts and lessons taught in the class on each day.
6. Create Environment for Studying
Make sure there are no distractions such as loud noises, television, and another sibling playing etc. in the close vicinity of where your child sits for studying. A child has an extremely low attention span and may get easily distracted and loses interest in studies.
7. Talk to the Teacher
If you notice that your child has bad grades in a particular subject or is hesitant to study a subject, you may get in touch with the concerned teacher. Together, the teacher and the parents can make strategies to develop a kid’s interest in that subject or improve the grades.
8. Follow Your Kid’s Learning Style
It is very important that you understand what kind of a learner your kid is, and that is, auditory, visual or kinesthetic. You may adopt study schedule based on your kid’s preference.
9. Make Study Goals Together
It is a good idea to set goals that achievable and can be achieved with dedication and hard work. You may make short term, medium-term and long term studying goals with your kid so that he stays motivated and also can track his progress.
10. Listen to Their Opinion
It is very important to listen and respect your child’s opinions even if at times you feel he is incorrect. Letting your kid voice his opinion on various subjects helps to build his confidence. Tell your kid to give proper reasoning for his arguments as well.
11. Help Them Learn From Failure
Failures are a part of life and are not the end of the world. Even if your kid gets low grades, refrain from scolding or comparing him to his friends or peers. He may already be feeling too low. Encourage and empathise with your kid and tell him it is okay to make mistakes and learn from them.
12. Make Your Child More Involved
It will be a good idea to involve your kid into buying his studying material like study table, stationery, the table cover or many other things that your kid associates with studying. This way your kid feels more involved and this may trigger his interest in studying too.
13. Refrain From Lecturing Your Child
All parents want to protect and do the best for their children. This may often lead to lecturing their kids about what is right and what is wrong with them. Refrain from doing this, as too much verbal bashing may eventually lead to disinterested kids. Give crisp and clear instruction to your kid rather than scolding, manipulation or threatening them.
14. Acknowledge All Achievements
Everyone likes a pat on his back every now and then, and so do the kids. It is very important that you acknowledge and appreciate even the smallest achievement of your kid. This not only makes him happy but keeps him motivated to do well.
15. Reading Habit
It is very important that you instil a reading habit in your kid. It is often seen that kids who enjoy reading usually like studying too. You may lead by example and create a conducive environment in your house, or even better you may make a reading schedule.
16. Be Firm and Disciplined
Being disciplined and firm in your teaching ways are suggested. Though that does not mean that you become manipulative and demanding. The key is to strike the perfect balance is to create a positive and conducive studying atmosphere at home.
17. Refrain From Bribing Your Child
Appreciation and reward are a positive aspect of inculcating good studying habit in a child. However, you should avoid bribing your kid. This may solve a problem temporarily and may not interest your kid to study with passion.
18. Try Storytelling
You may develop your kid’s interest in studying by constructive storytelling. You may tell him moral stories that lay stress on the importance of studies and education in life.
19. Make Study Time a Fun Time
Parents often make a mistake by punishing their children and then telling them to study. Children assume that it is their parent's way of punishing them. You can make study time a fun time and tell your kid’s to enjoy it. Spend more time studying together rather than leaving your kid alone in the room for studying.
20. Help Your Kid
Help your kid whenever he requires it or gets stuck up somewhere with his lessons. Do not get angry if he asks to clear his doubt number of times. Be patient and gentle with your kid’s doubts and queries.
Do not let your kid feel tensed or stressed while studying, as this attitude may make him despise studying altogether. Encourage and pep up your child’s morale and confidence at every stage for him to come out as a go-getter.

Our little Angel Is Now Three Months Old
It was a very auspicious day, August 28th, 2021, when we welcomed our angel to the world. It was a very memorable moment when I heard the cry of our angel. It seemed so musical to my ears that I enjoyed listening to it. It was a joyful and memorable moment when I was the first person to look at the child and take her in my arms. It is a very proud moment for a father to have his angel daughter in arms and look at her with loads of love and happiness.
On the second day of her birth, we had our angel’s photoshoot in different outfits. We appointed a professional photographer for the photo shoot, and the pictures came out very well. Those were our daughter’s first best memories created and captured with us. Our little angel also enjoyed the shoot sessions; she was smiling, active, and playful throughout the time.
Our little angel is now three months old; she loves watching the fan spinning, the colorful walls, and the pretty wallpapers in our living room. She enjoys the sight of our fancy night lamp and smiles, looking at the rays of light. She is at a stage where she is more comfortable than earlier; she laughs more and plays more. She recognizes people and responds to them with her cute lovely tone. She looks more pretty in pink and white outfits. She loves to play with her mittens and looks extremely cute while doing so.
She has completed three vaccinations; she enjoys painless vaccination with no tears. Instead, she smiles, looking at us or the doctor who diverts her mind by talking or showing different shades of colors or shades of lights. It’s a good thing that our angel is so healthy, which is a sign of a good healthy future as said, “Health is wealth.”
They say angels are born as a good sign of luck to the child’s parents, and we are one such parent who has the opportunity to get a chance of being parents of an angel who is our little earth. We enjoy every moment of being with our little angel, who is fun-loving and joyful. Together, we make beautiful moments enjoy sharing those with our family members.
