Potty training doesn’t start with making children use toilets right away. They should also have some code word for stool and urine which they can use to communicate whenever they must pee or poop.

Potty Training Tips for Boys
As parents, it is important to be fully prepared to help the baby achieve each milestone with confidence. These toilet training ideas will help you to get over this phase of your child’s development without much hassle.
Children love to imitate. Hence, the best way to potty train a boy is to let him observe his daddy using the toilet when peeing. Very soon he will be intrigued and would like to try it out himself.
It is important to go about the training step by step. Experts suggest that it is always helpful to train the child to go potty in a child-sized potty where he can sit comfortably, and his legs touch the ground. This will also give him a sense of possession, and he may just think of it as a new toy where he can poop peacefully. This needs to be followed if you are starting as early as 18 months old. However, if you start the training at the age of 3 or older, then you can just buy a comfortable adapter seat for your toilet. In this case, though, you will also have to put a footstool in front of him, so that he sits comfortably without his legs dangling. This will also come in handy to get on and off the potty easily and independently.
An extra piece of advice is to buy a potty seat without a urine guard.
The next phase is to help the child get comfortable with the potty. Create a sense of possession for the potty seat in your child. Write your boy’s name on it or even decorate it with some stickers. Let him playfully sit on it for a week or so before you suggest that he takes his pants off and sits on it . You can also do a role-play on how to use the potty seat. Use his favourite stuffed doll or animal toy for demonstration. This makes the whole process of potty training enjoyable for him and easier for you.
Motivate your child to become like his dad or elder brother. Tell him that he can choose his favourite underwear and wear it like his father and brother do. If he is initially uncomfortable, let him try wearing them on top of the diaper. Slowly he should be willing to ditch the diaper and wear only underwear.
Setting up a training schedule based on your personal schedule and your son’s time table is very important. If your son goes to a day care or pre-school, do share your potty training strategy with them. Since your son will take his own time to learn, keep some diapers and disposable pants handy for night time and travel.
Bowel movements and the tendency to urinate usually come at the same time. Hence, it is advisable to make your son sit first. Avoid making him sit for too long as he will avoid trying it from very next time. Once your son starts pooping and peeing in a sitting position, teach him how to stand and pee. Once again, a demonstration from daddy with by helpful. You can also float some oval shaped object for target practice, but please remember that should be your last resort as it can become very messy.
Around the time he usually has bowel movements, take off his pants and let him be for some time. Keep the potty seat handy so that as soon as you see the signs you can make him sit on it.
Celebrate each success by rewarding him with stickers or stars. That will keep him inspired. If you don’t succeed the first time, do try repeatedly till you get there; but remember to do so with lots of love, patience, innovation and positive reinforcement. You can also buy him picture books and cartoon CDs around potty training and let him watch them. They are usually fun, and children love watching and learning from them.
Once your baby boy has learned to stay dry all day, it is time to move to night-time training. This will take a longer time as it will require him to hold his urine for a certain period. If your little boy wants to sleep without diapers, let him do that. A few days will be experimental, and he may wet the bed, but slowly he will learn to wake up for peeing and then eventually will hold his urine for the rest of the night. This training may take weeks or even months.

How to Determine whether Your Pregnancy is Viable or Nonviable
Although the concept of viable and non-viable pregnancy is easy to grasp, the definitions are clearer in the medical world. A viable pregnancy is where the baby is developing well and has a reasonable chance to make it to the full term. A non-viable pregnancy is where a baby has no chance of being born alive.
What is a Viable Pregnancy?
The viable pregnancy meaning looms around the pregnancy being alive and progressing normally. Before the foetal heartbeat is detected, viable could just mean that the pregnancy hormone hCG is rising normally. When there is one foetus in the uterus and shows up in an ultrasound with a healthy heart rate and normal development, the doctors would call it a single viable intrauterine pregnancy.
How is Viable Pregnancy Determined?
There are markers using which it is possible to determine whether a pregnancy is viable. Here are 5 of them:
1. Human Chorionic Gonadoptrion (HCG) Hormone
The hCG is a hormone produced by the placenta during its implantation process in the uterus. During a normal pregnancy, the levels of the HCG hormone steadily increase over the days such that it can be detectable. Home pregnancy test kits measure hCG levels in the urine but a blood test can give an exact reading. Four weeks into pregnancy, the hCG levels would range between 17 to 119 mIU/ml. What’s important to know however is that’s not the number that counts, it is whether the number doubles every two or three days. In over 85% of normal pregnancies the hCG levels double and once it reaches 2000 mIU/ml, some embryonic development becomes apparent on the transvaginal ultrasound.
2. Gestational Sac
The woman is considered to be four weeks pregnant by the time of her first missed period and the embryo would have implanted in the uterus only about a week or so before. This is when the first pregnancy test reads positive and at four weeks there’s still nothing that can be picked up by an ultrasound scan. By the next week, the gestational sac which holds the developing embryo comes into view. By six weeks, a yolk sac can be seen within the gestational sac in an ultrasound. The yolk sac gives nutrition to the embryo before the placenta is developed.
3. Foetal Pole
When the embryo begins developing it looks more like a small bean, a tiny straight pole that is a little curved at the end. The foetal pole appears around five and a half to six and a half weeks and its length is measured from one end to the other. Called the crown-rump length (CRL) it is the length between the head (crown) and the bottom of the buttocks (rump). Once the CRL of the foetus exceeds 7mm, a heartbeat should be detected through a transvaginal ultrasound.
4. Foetal Heartbeat
When the foetal heat beat first becomes detectable. The heart is still a tiny one-chambered tube. The heartbeat appears as a little flicker on the ultrasound scan at around six weeks which is an indicator of the well being of the foetus. The heart rate is initially slower and once the foetus develops a full heart with four chambers, the heartbeat is around 110 beats per minute (BPM) in a viable intrauterine pregnancy. However, a foetal heart rate of less than 90 beats per minute might indicate a non-viable pregnancy. A healthy heart rate is an indicator of a viable pregnancy and once it is seen, the chance of a miscarriage drops significantly and about 95% of the pregnancies from here go on to be full term.
5. Symptoms of pregnancy
Early pregnancy symptoms are normally an indicator that the pregnancy is developing normally. Many women wonder is morning sickness a good sign of a viable pregnancy and the answer is that there is a good chance it could be so when coupled with other signs such as nausea, sore breasts, frequent urination and fatigue. These are the result of varying pregnancy hormones in the body.
What is a Non-Viable Pregnancy?
A non-viable pregnancy is when there is no chance of a live infant being born out of the pregnancy or the foetus does not have a chance to survive even when born alive. Diagnostically, in the early stages nonviable does not mean that the foetus has a little chance of survival; it has no chances of survival. In the early stages of gestation it is possible to experience a non-viable pregnancy but no miscarriage. However, the symptoms of miscarriage show up eventually.
Causes of Non-Viable Pregnancy
A non-viable pregnancy is one where the foetus has no chance of survival and there are many reasons why that might be so. Here are the most common of those:
It could be an ectopic pregnancy where the fertilized egg implants outside of the uterus, such as the fallopian tubes.
Sometimes a fertilized egg which is not capable of surviving implants in the uterus leading to a molar pregnancy.
A chemical pregnancy is one such non-viable condition where the fertilized egg fails to implant in the uterus.
An anembryonic gestation which is also known as a blighted ovum is a condition where the pregnancy stops after the gestational sac forms.
Pregnancies where the foetus no longer has a heartbeat.
Congenital defects which make survival impossible for the foetus.
A premature birth where the baby is unable to survive.
How is Non-Viable Pregnancy Determined?
The Society of Radiologists in Ultrasound (SRU) has a definite set of criteria by which non-viability can be determined and they are as follows:
The CRL is 7mm or more with no heartbeat in the foetus.
The gestational sac has a mean diameter of 25mm or more but has no embryo in it.
Gestational sac not containing a yolk sac is seen in the first scan but two or more weeks later there is no embryo with a heartbeat.
Gestational sac with a yolk sac is seen in the scan but 11 or more days later there is no embryo with a heartbeat.
CRL length less than 7mm without a heartbeat.
Gestational sac diameter between 10 to 24mm and no embryo.
Gestational sac with the absence of a yolk sac is picked up in the scan and 7 to 13 days later there is no embryo with a heartbeat.
Gestational sac along with a yolk sac is observed in the ultrasound and 7-10 days later embryo with a heartbeat is missing.
There is no embryo 6 or more weeks after the last menstrual period.
The amnion (the membrane that surrounds the embryo) is absent.
Enlarged yolk sac that is bigger than 7 millimetres.
Gestational sac size is disproportionately small compared to the embryo.
The definitions of viable and non-viable are designed to prevent the termination of a pregnancy where, in fact, the baby does have a reasonable chance of surviving.

However, with the majority of us becoming health conscious these days, even sweets and dry fruits are becoming an obsolete gift. So why not switch to a ‘clean and green’ present? We are talking about plants.
Plants can become a great project for the children of the house – it is a living thing that needs to be cared for, nurtured and nourished and will teach children tenacity, discipline and patience. In our concrete jungles, potted plants can be our small yet powerful connection to nature. Finally, indoor plants serve more than one purpose – they can make your house look pretty, purify the air, and some can even keep insects and mosquitoes away!

Mommy's Little Sunshine - Introducing Ditya! Our precious little one.
Ditya! She is far more resilient and assertive than i had ever imagined. Motherhood is not easy but at the same time its not difficult - it's different though. From being a completely careless woman to a cautious mom the transition is definitely not smooth. Ever since i knew we are going to become parents. Honestly, i was not overwhelmed. I was having a cold feet. The thought that keeps running in my mind - will i be a good mother ? Will i be in a position to take complete responsibility ?
So i have decided to just go with the flow rather than trying to alter the situation.
My pregnancy was worse than a nightmare. Dealing with bouts of nausea everyday was no joke. I was living in a world of fantasy thinking its all going to be normal and coping up with things is kind off universal. As usual, A series of regular drama was so typical each and everyday. I am still not sure how i survived those rigid 9 months. Solely, delivering a healthy baby and not putting my health in jeopardy was more of a concern.
Everything seemed so fine and we were all excited for the baby to arrive soon.
Her arrival was imminent and i was timid, But it was well worth the wait.
Thoughts that kept coming worried me more as i was overloaded with too much of information which made me even more impuissant.
After battling 13 hours of labour and almost giving up on everything. My little girl has arrived. She was tall and adorable. I was not biased with her color/complexion. I believe beauty comes from within and it has nothing to do with your external appearance. She was attractive in her own way and her features more redefined.

I started taking opinions and guidance's from people and do what feels best for my daughter.
We have named her Ditya ( Which means Answer of prayers & Another name of Goddess Lakshmi ). Apparently, i have never heard this name. However, this was Ramesh uncle's first choice and we found this name very unique. Since, he being the most admired person in the family. We wish Ditya inculcates all the good qualities and the charm that he continues to hold on forever.

A Plethora of things what motherhood has taught me.
Loving someone so fiercely and unconditionally without any expectations is possible and that's one beautiful thing i have learnt from motherhood.
Enjoying simple things: Not all the happiness in the world can be found in a Dream job, Big house, a perfect holiday or other defining moments. Apparently, best things with her are unplanned. Sometimes its just a deep nap together, a ride in her pram, a warm hug, Her smiles and Perhaps, just lazing around the house.
She has taught me patience, I dint know what it was before she was born. I am not saying i am sane all the time. I had rough days too.
I have learnt to tolerate people's sarcastic comments on my baby with no intention of accepting them. I just let people rant and this does not bother me at all.
Its a mess everywhere and with a kid around cleaning comes up with a nagging (Always).
Parties are a big No - No. Taking little one's to huge gatherings will only lead to disappointments for their stranger anxiety issues.
Insomnia becomes your best friend gradually. All i have to say is Dear sleep I miss you! I miss you more!
You will have all the time in the world to dress your lil love in the most comfortable and stylish clothes possible. And once she is all dolled up, We start admiring her. How graceful she looks!

D is pampered, Touchwood! She is not a brat so far. But, D is very lucky enough to be raised by her grand parents. She is their favorite and they are all best friends. D is an attention seeker and they are always there for her without loosing their calm.

She is a charm, she knows how to tackle everyone with that one broad smile. She is very blessed that she is growing up with her great grand mother and grand parents who keep her engaged all the day when i am at work.

Ingredients
250 grams extra-firm tofu
2 tsp (teaspoons) olive oil
1 tbsp(tablespoon) soy sauce
12 slices whole-wheat bread or rye bread
1-2 tbsp stoneground mustard
1-2 tbsp Tofu mayo
6 lettuce leaves
6 tomato slices
Method
Step 1
Cut tofu into six slices, each about 1/4-inch thick.
Step 2
Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet.
Step 3
Add tofu and cook over medium heat until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
Step 4
Flip onto the other side, cook until golden brown.
Step 5
Turn off heat.
Step 6
Add soy sauce, flip the tofu slices so as to coat both sides.
Step 7
Toast bread.
Step 8
Spread it lightly with mustard and Tofu Mayo.
Step 9
Top with slices of tofu, lettuce, and tomato.
Step 10
Your TLT Sandwich is ready to eat. Serve immediately.
