Delicious, Healthy Snacks That Make You Less Hungry!
You really need to get in shape for your best friend’s wedding next month. The only thing standing between you and your goal is frequent hunger pangs. What if you could eat foods that make you less hungry? No, we’re not kidding! It’s very much a reality!
If you’re a big fan of diet fads, the latest term doing the rounds is “hangry”. You’re on this strict diet which allows no snacking in-between meals. However, if you don’t get something soon, the growls from your stomach are bound to scare away the bravest hearts. That’s when you know you’re hangry! Hopefully, you can prevent this from happening by keeping close healthy snacks that fill you up.
Eating Right: Foods that Curb Hunger
1.Baked potatoes
Potatoes? You surely couldn’t have read it properly right? Wrong! While potato has been the official mascot of fat-foods, research counts it as one of those foods that make you less hungry. With a high satiating index, a quick munch on these baked spuds is sure to keep you full for at least two hours after. Increase the goodness by keeping the skins on.
2. Nutty affair
You’ve always made it a point to stay away from those rich, sinfully tasty nuts. While it’s true that peanuts or almonds do tend to pack a ton of calories, their heart-healthy cousin pistachios are hunger-satiating as well as low calorie filling snacks. Eat them by the handfuls whenever you feel the longing to munch on something and get protection against heart disease as a bonus!
3. Sweet delight
There’s no reason why you can’t indulge your sweet tooth, just because you’re on a diet. Instead of reaching out for that tub of delicious gooey chocolate ice-cream, settle for some Greek yogurt. The creamy probiotics-rich yogurt is one of the snacks that keep you full while loading you up on all the goodies. Add a few chopped strawberries on top and you’ve fulfilled your vitamin C quota as well.
4. Go green
Green veggies are definitely good for you! Not only are they counted among zero-calorie foods, they are also snacks that suppress appetite. So, next time you want to satisfy the belly monster, keep some cucumbers, zucchini, celery, or even carrots handy. Their high water content keeps you hydrated. The fiber gives you the satisfaction of chewing and you end up with a full stomach! It’s a total win-win situation.
5. Mr Beans
Last on the list is everyone's favourite beans. The high fiber and starch content of these legumes slows the digestion in the stomach and keeps you full longer. Beans are great for both improving and retaining your awesome figure!
For those in the weight watchers club, having access to healthy snacks can feel like a boon. They help you satisfy mid-day cravings while making sure you don’t break your calorie bank. Here's a tip for you: next time you’re wondering if something is a healthy snacking option, remember the PWF criteria: low-calorie protein, high water and fiber content. Stock your kitchen with these weight-loss friendly foods and happy munching! Read more

Celebrating Janmashtami With My Child
India is a country of festivals, and we have abundant occasions to celebrate new beginnings, be it of a season or life. Many seasonal cycles highlight fasting as a means to detox the body, praying for detox of the soul and performing acts of singing and dancing to celebrate. Every occasion is filled with colourful decorations, specific to the theme around the God around whom the festival revolves. One of my and my son's favourites is Janmashtami.
I have many fond memories of my celebrating Janmashtami during childhood, praying for ample rainfall so that we could get a second day off at school after Janmashtmi, preparing makhan and gud ke laddoo, setting up a jhanki with my sister, and listening to our parents recite stories from their childhood and of Lord Krishna. In turn, I want my son to have all these memories, and more, by celebrating this festival.
Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtmi, celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna to Devaki and Vasudev. Remembered as the eighth avatar of Vishnu, he was born on the eighth day of krishna paksha during the Shravan month, according to Hindu scriptures. Today, his birth signifies the beginning of the end of evil, and is celebrated as an important festival in most Indian homes.
On this day, Hindu’s all over the world observe a fast and celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. People commemorate the day with the ceremonial breaking of the matki – a tradition where many groups of men and women form human pyramids to reach a matki hanging at a height, and break it. Local artists perform plays and dance performances depicting the life of Lord Krishna and many parents dress up their kids as Lord Krishna's baal roop.
When my son was less than a year old, I dressed him up as Baal Gopal by draping my dupatta over him, dressing him with all jewels I had, and handing him a dahi handi for the first time. Ever since, he has an undying love for mishti dahi.
We all wait for this festival every year, and Nabh is more eager to get his share of dahi makhan and mishri. He gets excited about visiting the temple on Janmashtmi, even more, because after getting putting a tilak on his forehead, the Pundit ji always gives him prasad comprising all the favourite food of Krishna. My baby willingly wears a dress of my choice because he knows he'll later get his favourite prasad. Children are too smart, I tell you.
What festivals do you celebrate and does your child love participating in them? Let's talk!

Travelling with your new born baby for the first time ever.
Being a travel enthusiast, any plans of a vacation used to fill me with thrill and excitement until I became a mother. My son was three months old then, when my husband shared with me his recent plan of vacation of three of us as a family for the very first time. I got very excited at first but the idea of travelling with my three month old totally freaked me out.
I had no prior experience of travelling with a kid and hence had no idea of what to keep etc.
However, we did all the planning and packing keeping his needs in mind and the trip went smoothly. It was indeed a great trip.
Sharing with you my experience in terms of do's and dont's while travelling with a baby.
Important things to keep in mind:
Travel light- Extremely important as you will have a baby to carry as well.
Plan a shorter trip- As you are travelling with your baby for the very first time, keep it short to get a hang of it before you plan a rather longer trip.
Keep few stay-ats: Don't go on changing your hotel very frequently. Plan an itinerary with fewer destinations.
Do read about the weather conditions of the place you are planning to go to.
Packing for you baby:
Extra clothes- let's accept that baby's clothes get soiled frequently, be it because of pee, poops or vomit. So keep a few extra. My advise is to keep such clothes in which every cloth can be paired with almost every other. That says you won't have to carry a lot.
Baby food- Whether or not your baby is on exclusive breastfeed, it is always advisable to carry formula milk powder. Afterall there is no harm in being prepared for an unforeseen situation, ryt!
Feeding bottles/utensils (depending on your preference), hot water flask, hotcases (if your baby has started solids) nibblers, teethers etc.
Soft baby blanket - can be used for both covering or spreading while putting your baby to sleep.
Swaddle wraps- just a couple.
Diapers- there isn't a need to stock up diapers for the entire trip duration. These are easily available almost everywhere so just keep for the first 2-3 days at max.
Mosquito patch- A must to keep your baby safe from mosquitoes.
Basic toiletries- Again carrying bigger bottles is a huge no-no. It is better to carry small travel friendly bottles.
Baby wipes- again a must looking at how handy it comes in times if need.
Wash clothes and bibs- Good number if bibs and napkins (gets soiled very frequently and requires very less space).
Trash plastic pouches and old newspapers - to throw diapers and other stuff.
Baby bag- with minimum stuff just enough for journey. Preferably a bag pack as its super comfortable to carry as compared to a shoulder bag.
Baby carrier/ stroller- a baby carrier is advised in my experience as a stroller adds to another luggage. Carrier allows you to just tie your baby around your body and you are good to go.
Medicines- Whether or not your baby is on any medication currently, it is always advised to carry any medicine which has been prescribed so far or any general medicine( cold, cough, fever, allergy etc.) which might be needed.
Toys- Except for any toy/stuff toy your baby is really attached to, there isn't a need to carry any rattle or other toy because hey we all know that kids dont really enjoy playing with toys as much as they enjoy playing with empty bottles/containers etc.
This is completely based on my own experience while travelling with my baby. You can use this just as a reference. Hope it proves to be useful to you too. Enjoy reading! Read more

Mom-daughter Duo Aishwarya and Aaradhya's Paris Vacation Pictures Are Giving Us All Travel Goals!
The mom-daughter duo sure is giving us some major travel goals!
Aishwarya Rai made her Instagram debut quite late, but that hasn't stopped her from garnering over 3 million followers in such a short span of time! The actress is now quite active on the social media platform and has been sharing moments from her travels with daughter, Aaradhya. The two are definitely enjoying what seems to be a vacation filled with the stuff of dreams, and well, we can only gush over how fun and adorable the pictures look!
Before we get to the pictures that are giving us some serious mom-child travel goals, here's a look at the lovely ladies of the Rai clan smiling for the photographers at an event in Paris. Don't miss Aaradhya's pose - she's a star in her own right and she definitely knows it!

The two are in one of the most magical cities in the world - Paris - and are clearly having the time of their lives. Look at the little one striking a darling pose, surely inspired by gorgeous mommy dearest - the smile on her face says it all!

We would be going green with envy over these fabulous vacation pics (and at Disneyland, no less!), but this photo has us going 'aawww' instead! Captioned as "My Princess Angel's Happiness means the World to me...My Aaradhya...My LIFE...My Eternal LOVE", this is as heartwarming as it gets!

This looks like so much fun!

And looks like they couldn't have got to Paris at a better time; with France winning the World Cup, the duo got to witness the grand celebrations that followed the victory.
