Nutrient Requirements of a 24-month-old Child
At 2 years, your child's appetite would definitely increase and hence you will see him gorging on whatever comes his way. While he eats anything and everything, it is your responsibility as a parent to see if his nutrient requirements are being fulfilled or not. Following are the nutrient requirements of a 24-month-old child:
1. Calories
Between the ages of 1 and 4 years, a child's calorie requirement does not increase as extensively as you would expect it to. Most children need only about 1200-1300 calories on a daily basis.
2. Proteins
The growth of a child's body and muscles heavily depends on his proteins intake. But that does not mean his diet should constitute only of protein-rich foods. A child gets enough proteins from the usual food products.
3. Carbohydrates
These pretty much form the core of each meal a child has at this age. A child needs around 130-150 grams of carbohydrates for a kid to keep functioning properly through the day.
4. Dietary Fibre
Since most meals include processed foods, it is important to maintain an inclusion of whole food items as well. Fruits or grains can incorporate fibre into your child’s diet and keep his digestive system healthy.
5. Sodium
Most parents fret about children getting a lot of sodium from the salt. But maintaining about a gram of sodium intake daily is utterly important for children at this age.
6. Iron
Along with sodium, iron is another element that plays a vital role in keeping the circulatory system of a child’s body at an optimal level. When the diet is balanced, there’s no need for iron supplements to be given along with it.
7. Milk
The importance of milk cannot be stressed enough. Milk is necessary for bone development and overall growth and development of a child, so make sure your child drinks a glass of milk daily. You can give him cow’s milk, soy milk, or almond milk too.
8. Water
The presence of water might seem surprising in the list of nutritive elements but you would be surprised to know that only a few children meet the daily requirement of drinking 1.3 litres of water every day. Hence, you must check if your baby drinks water enough or not.
How Much Food Does a 24-month-old Toddler Need?
Although your child is growing, it does not mean you feed him every hour. As per his current age, he requires no more than 1.5 kilocalories on a daily basis. And this can be easily achieved with a diet that has a good combination of grains, fruits, vegetables, and other food items.
Best Foods for a Twenty-four-month-old Baby
The completion of 24 months puts your child at an important stage in his life. Going ahead, it is important for him to gain a good amount of weight and develop an energy reserve to power him through life. A few specific foods can help him make that happen.
1. Eggs
Giving your little one a whole egg, either as an omelette or in the boiled form is a great way to add to his weight and make him a filling meal. Children can eat both the yolk and the whites without any issues.
2. Khichdi
Since it can get difficult to make kids have a complete meal by themselves, khichdi is a great option that can be made within no time and is full of nutrients, thanks to the presence of both rice and various lentils. Eating khichdi helps in healthy weight gain and stimulates the metabolism as well.
3. Potatoes
This vegetable can go with nearly any kind of meal preparation. Yes, you must be bored of eating it, it is extremely vital for your kid. Your kid's diet should include potato. Starchy vegetables are quite essential at this age.
4. Curd
A child needs strength right from an early age. The cream of the milk or curd is a great source of fat and even provides energy to the body, which can be synthesized by the body in the best form and prove beneficial for the child.
5. Milkshakes
Your child may whine when it comes to drinking his daily glass of milk. Combining the same with a fruit can help turn it into a delicious milkshake, which provides added nutrition and would be loved by your little one.
6. Ghee
Adding a spoonful of ghee when serving veggies to your child should become a practice at this age. While vegetables should be prepared in ghee itself, you could opt for using olive oil instead to keep your own health intact.
7. Nuts
Breakfast is a great time to include a variety of nuts in your child’s diet. Let it be mixed with cereal or let him have a few after he wakes up in the morning. Everything from almonds to cashews and raisins is good if given in moderation.
8. Flaxseeds
A healthy combination of proteins, fats, and fibre are essential for a growing baby. To meet these nutrient requirements, you can include flaxseed in his diet. Flaxseeds are immensely popular among those but pumpkin and melon seeds can do the trick as well.
9. Peanut Butter
Yes, this is a healthy food item for your child. Although it is best to keep peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for special occasions, you can use the butter in various preparations, since it is a great source of fats and energy.
10. Jaggery
Most households make use of refined sugar to bring out the sweetness in their preparations. Replacing it with jaggery is not only a healthy alternative for everyone, but the child receives its health benefits as well.

Feeding Tips
A few handy tips for feeding your child can go a long way in making the entire meal experience a memorable one.
Do not reward or punish your child when it comes to his eating habits. He will learn in time what is healthy and what is not, so don't force him to eat anything.
Do not feed spicy food items early in life.
Refrain from giving anything that is extremely hot or cold.
Make it a habit to sit together at the dining table and enjoy a meal.
When giving him snacks, choose nutritious options.
Keep meals frequent and small in quantity.
Let children take small portions of the food.
Avoid rushing through the meals.
Maintain a combination of vegetables, fruits, and milk.
When introducing any food, check if it provides him energy or not. Do not give foods containing empty calories.
Introducing healthy and nutritious foods at the right age can help your child pick good habits in the future too. Most kids warm up to the foods once they see the entire family enjoying it together and work towards developing a habit of doing the same. So, make sure that you eat with your family every day.
Disclaimer:
Each child is different and so use these meal plans as a trusted guide as per your discretion. You can modify the meals according to your child’s preferences / requirements.
Never force-feed a child.
While preparing formula, please follow the instructions on the box and use the measuring spoon provided with it.
While introducing solid food to a baby, initially, one needs to prepare watery gruels/soups. As a child gets older, the caretaker/ mother has to increase the thickness of the liquids slowly according to the child’s capacity to swallow. Foods that are too thick can cause stomach upset/ unnecessary load; while excessively watery food might cause the child to remain hungry.
Some kids may eat less on some days and that is absolutely alright. However, if a child eats less for more than 3-4 consecutive days, please visit a doctor to guide further.
A child may eat less during the teething phase or if he/she may not be feeling well. You could increase breast milk /formula feeds on those days. Re-introduce the foods once the child is back to normal.
Don’t stop feeding if the child is suffering from diarrhoea.
You can alter the taste of the food by adding some natural flavours like cinnamon, jeera powder, lemon juice, curry leaves etc. if the child doesn’t accept the food initially.
If your child suffers from an allergy to nuts, gluten or eggs, please consult your doctor before feeding him/her any foods that may contain them.

Fourth Month Pregnancy Diet (13-16 Weeks)
The fourth month of pregnancy is a time when the unpleasant side-effects of pregnancy, such as headaches, morning sickness, and mood swings, disappear. You may not feel strong food aversions after the first trimester, and you may have food cravings. The second trimester is regarded as the most comfortable of the three trimesters. This is also the period when your baby grows the most and your blood volume increases, so that the baby can get nourishment from the nutrients absorbed by your blood. Hence, your diet during the fourth month of pregnancy should include all the nutrients that are required for the baby’s healthy growth and development.
What to Include in Your Fourth-Month Pregnancy Diet?
It is important to plan what to eat during the second trimester of pregnancy. Your fourth month pregnancy diet chart should include the following:
1. Iron-rich Foods
As your blood volume increases in the fourth month, you should include iron-rich foods to meet the higher level of iron requirement. Examples of iron-rich foods are meat, fish, tofu, liver, soybeans, whole grains like brown rice, nuts and seeds, dark green leafy vegetables like kale and spinach, dried fruits, and eggs.
2. Fibre-rich Foods
In the fourth month of pregnancy, the hormone progesterone slows down digestion. Your uterus starts to grow in size to accommodate your growing baby. This causes constipation. To prevent constipation and stimulate regular bowel movements, you should eat foods rich in fibre. Examples include whole grains like oatmeal, bran, and barley, seeds like flaxseeds and chia, nuts like almonds, pecans, and pistachios, vegetables like Brussels sprouts, broccoli, sweet corn, artichokes, and green peas, and fruits like raspberries, strawberries, figs, apples, bananas, and pears.
3. Calcium-rich Foods
Calcium is very important for the development of strong bones in your baby. Foods rich in calcium are kale, milk, yoghurt, cheese, sardines, watercress, broccoli, okra, and almonds.
4. Foods Rich in Zinc and Vitamin C
Zinc is a trace element essential for building proteins, and the development of a healthy nervous system and immune system. Foods rich in zinc include oysters, lamb, beef, spinach, wheat germ, mushrooms, pumpkin and squash seeds, nuts, chicken, and beans. Vitamin C is essential for the absorption of iron in the body. Foods rich in Vitamin C are green and red peppers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, and leafy greens.
5. Foods Rich in Omega Fatty Acids
Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for eye and brain development in the foetus. Omega-6 fatty acids are important for heart health, proper functioning of the reproductive system, and skin, hair, and bone growth. Foods rich in omega fatty acids include vegetable oils, salmon, sardines, soybeans, nuts like walnuts and almonds, and seeds like chia and flax.
6. Fruits and Vegetables
It is important to include at least five portions of fruits and vegetables per day. Fresh produce has the highest level of nutrients, followed by frozen produce. You should also include some raw vegetables in the form of a salad. Fresh fruit is healthier than fruit juices.
7. Proteins and Carbohydrates
Proteins are the building blocks of muscles, tissues, and DNA. Carbohydrates are the energy source for our body. Include adequate amounts of proteins and starchy carbohydrates in your diet. Examples of proteins are legumes, lentils, nuts, seeds, nut butter, meat, chicken, quinoa, and soybeans. Examples of starchy carbohydrates are potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. An Indian diet during the pregnancy’s fourth month should, therefore, include dal, whole wheat roti, porridge made from ragi, oats or dalia, dosa, chana (chickpeas) and rajma (kidney beans).
8. Foods Rich in Folic Acid
Your body needs extra blood during pregnancy, and folic acid helps with just that. Research has shown that almost 70% of neural tube defects can be prevented by consuming folic acid. Most prenatal vitamins contain folic acid, but you can also get your daily requirement through food. Some foods rich in this essential nutrient are lentils, green leafy vegetables, beans, and nuts.
9. Vitamin D- rich foods
Vitamin D is necessary for calcium absorption in the bones, which is needed for the baby to develop strong bones and teeth. It also helps maintain healthy skin and eyesight. Milk and fatty fish like salmon are good sources of Vitamin D, along with sunlight, of course.
Fourth Month of Pregnancy - What to Avoid?
There are some foods which may harm the baby if eaten during pregnancy. Here is a list of foods to avoid during the fourth month of pregnancy:
1. Liquorice
Consuming excessive amounts of black liquorice during pregnancy has been linked to lower IQ in babies. Liquorice also contains chemicals that can trigger uterine contractions, causing preterm labour. Hence, it is best to avoid foods containing liquorice.
2. Refined Flour
Refined flour, known as maida in India, is difficult to digest and can cause constipation and even lead to haemorrhoids post-delivery. It also spikes up blood sugar levels, as it has a high glycaemic index. This can lead to gestational diabetes, which is harmful to both the mother and baby. Stick to whole-wheat foods and avoid refined flour.
3. Ocean Fish
Ocean fish like white tuna, king mackerel, and swordfish contain high levels of mercury. Mercury can cause brain damage in the foetus and has been linked to mental retardation in babies. So, avoid ocean fish and stick to freshwater fish like salmon or trout.
4. Blue Cheese
Blue cheese like Camembert and soft cheeses like Brie may contain microorganisms like bacteria or listeria that can cause food poisoning in the mother. This will affect the baby’s health and development. So, avoid blue cheese and soft cheeses, and eat only hard cheeses like Parmesan or Cheddar.
5. Raw Eggs and Undercooked Meat
Raw eggs may contain salmonella bacteria that can cause salmonellosis, a kind of food poisoning. This can harm the baby. So, eat only cooked eggs. Undercooked meat can also cause salmonella poisoning, so make sure all the meat you consume is thoroughly cooked.
6. Pâté
Pâté is a mixture of cooked ground meat and fat in the form of a spreadable paste. Any type of pâté has a risk of listeria infection. Hence, it is better to avoid pâté during pregnancy.
7. Caffeine
Excess consumption of caffeine increases your heart rate and also causes nervousness, irritability and sleeplessness. It can be harmful to the baby and has also been linked to miscarriages. Hence, it is better to limit caffeine intake to 200 milligrams per day.
8. Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial sweetners are not harmful when consumed within a limit. However, try and substitute natural sweetners such as honey, dates, or maple syrup wherever possible.
9. Salt
Salt retains water in the body and causes bloating, along with increasing blood pressure. Hence, consume salt in moderation. Try and use low-sodium salt, which is much healthier.
Diet Tips for the Fourth Month
Here are some diet tips to follow during the fourth month of pregnancy:
Drink enough water. A pregnant woman, on average, requires around 2.3 litres of water per day.
Avoid eating excessive quantities of fried food, spicy food or food containing high amounts of salt or sugar.
Ground flax seeds can be sprinkled over your salads or in oatmeal, yoghurt, etc. They are a great source of dietary fibre and omega-3 fatty acids.
Do not eat too many sweets, as it will lead to gestational diabetes and unnecessary weight gain.
Avoid having tea or coffee with meals and iron supplements, as the tannins present in them can prevent iron from being absorbed by the body.
Make sure fruits and vegetables are thoroughly washed to remove germs, soil and pesticide residues.
The fourth month of pregnancy is a comfortable time for the mother-to-be. Regular exercise, healthy food, and remaining stress-free and calm at this time will ensure that your baby is healthy. Make sure you consult your doctor for advice before making any changes in your diet. Read more

Gifted Children - Characteristics and Challenges
Parents look at their children in great admiration and are proud of how they progress in life. In the early stages of life, there might be instances where your child seems a lot more talented or sharp than the kids of his age or seems to grasp things very quickly and discover things that you wouldn’t have even thought of quite easily. Recognizing the right signs and understanding if your child is gifted or not is key to ensuring they are raised and developed the right way.

Before identifying gifted children, it becomes necessary to define them first. A gifted child has a high level of mental ability or is extraordinarily good in a specific area of knowledge. Most countries consider a child to be gifted if his IQ score stands at 130 or beyond that. However, a gifted child could be great in different areas, such as verbal, mathematical, visual, art, musical, or even interpersonal communication.
Common Characteristics of Gifted Kids
There are certain common traits of a gifted child that can easily help you realize if your child is one.
1. Learns Rapidly and has Strong Reasoning Capabilities
Your child is able to learn new things faster than others and can reason each aspect of learning clearly and concisely.
2. Talks Confidently Early in Life With a Good Vocabulary
Your child has comparatively less fear of public speaking or making his opinion heard, and is able to spell out his thoughts using the right words and sentence structure.
3. An Avid Reader and Asks a Lot of Pertinent Questions
Your child likes reading a lot and does not hesitate from asking questions.
4. Extremely Curious and a Very Strong Memory
Your child is generally curious about a lot of things and seems to recall many things instantly from memory.
5. High Levels of Concentration for Extended Periods of Time
Sitting for long periods of time and concentrating on a single problem or a book does not seem to be difficult for your child.
6. Pursues Anything that Interests them Right to The End
Once something catches his attention, your child will make sure to pursue it until it is completed.
7. Enjoy Solving Problems and Find Unique Solutions in Strange Ways
Brain teasers and puzzles light up your child’s eyes and he ends up solving them in ways that are quite unusual.
8. A Vivid and Unusual Imagination
Your child tells stories and talks about fantastical worlds or inventions with a lot of detail.
9. Has Strong Opinions and Believes Strongly in Justice
Being fair and just with everyone is how your child usually is and doesn’t feel fear to take a stand.
10. Prefers Spending Time with Adults than Children of Their Age
Your child is more comfortable having conversations with adults than playing around with kids his own age.
Gifted Children Problems/Challenges
As special as they might be, there are gifted child behavior problems that parents need to be aware of and handle with care.
1. Burnout and Exhaustion
Gifted children are usually high on energy and pursue their interests by giving it their all. This causes them to get exhausted soon and deplete their energy reserves since their body is just catching up in growth. Moreover, taking care of the usual tasks of completing homework, keeping everything organized, being perfect at everything, can get extremely stressful for them, and leave them not wanting to pursue what they want to.
2. Issues Regarding Attention and Organization
Gifted children tend to think of things in abstract ways and abstract thoughts, and get bored of normalcy quite easily. This leads to them having issues with paying attention or keeping things organized.
3. Difficulty in Making Friends
This is one of the major problems gifted children face. On the outside, they may seem extremely mature when it comes to social interaction, but internally they feel lonely and sad amongst their peers. They may find nothing in common with their classmates or may have difficulty in joining in group activities. This could primarily be because of their tendency to do things better than others which results in them being perceived as arrogant.
4. Difficulty in Being Patient
If they encounter something they cannot quickly understand or might not be good at a particular activity at the beginning, they get angry at themselves or may abandon the activity altogether. When it comes to other children, they get frustrated by the fact that their classmates take longer to understand simple concepts that they have grasped already.
5. Unrealistic Expectations
Gifted children expect highly of their own selves. If they have been getting consistently good grades, a single low grade can destroy them from within, and be a shock for the parents, too. They tend to set extremely high expectations for themselves and are immediately distraught when they fail to meet them.
6. Issues Regarding Control
Most gifted children like to run things their own way. You may have noticed where kids insist on doing things themselves and hate it when parents interfere. Over time, this nature of doing things a particular way might make others interpret it as arrogance or being bossy, which also might lead to them being fearful of taking risks.
7. Being a Perfectionist
It always has to be perfect for gifted children. This makes them high-achievers throughout life. They might procrastinate a lot or spend absurd amounts of time getting things right down to the finest detail. On seeing an average performance in other aspects of life, gifted children might tend to add even more effort in those areas, without realising that it consumes a lot of time, leaves them tired, and affects their health as well.
8. Feeling Guilty
Yes, gifted children feel guilty about being gifted. They recognize their own talents and may feel a yearning to give it back or share it with others in some manner. This might manifest in good social behavior where they help out others and contribute to causes, but when powered by guilt, they might go the extra mile and lead to being taken advantage of as well.
9. Issues Regarding Self-Esteem
At times, this gift can become a curse for children, making them feel isolated and different from their friends and classmates. Gifted children end up being bullied at times or even have to combat depression. Many studies have shown that gifted children struggle a lot with social difficulties and feelings of sadness. They tend to talk themselves down and be negative towards their own behavior, leading to mood swings and erratic habits.
How can Parents and Teachers Help Gifted Children?
Parenting a gifted child is no less than a challenge. Not only does it come with the usual difficulties of a child, but it also has the extra responsibility of protecting and caring for the gift they come with.
Allow them the space to do their own things in situations with no specific outcomes.
Give them opportunities to take risks and let them fail in non-threatening ways.
Find other gifted children and try to make them a part of the community
Request your child’s teacher to spend some time specifically with your child to cater to his needs.
Give them activities that teach them the necessity to balance urgent work and one requiring deep thought.
Introduce them to a questioning process that is structured to bring into action their higher-order thinking.
Let them take the initiative and solve problems while giving them minimal instructions.
Provide them with opportunities that help them develop their skills in the direction of their choosing.
Encourage them to use alternative techniques that stray away from the norm.
Provide them work that challenges their creativity and imagination.
Give them projects that have clear instructions as well as ones that don’t have any.
Have an internal understanding that social maturity isn’t connected to intellectual prowess.
Make them experience a variety of teaching and learning techniques.
Try to reduce repetitive work and replace with acts that help in enriching what they know.
Allow them to understand the differentiation amongst various activities and strategies.
Give them time and opportunity to figure out things for themselves.
Support them in times of need and give them the emotional guidance that kids generally require.

World Oceans Day - Interesting Facts and Activities for Kids
The future of Earth depends on how conscious and aware our future generations are about conserving natural resources which are at the core of life on Earth. Oceans are the incubator of life and preserving their natural ecological state has become the call of the hour. They are being subjected to unchecked contamination by petrochemicals and plastic, ruining their natural composition and resulting in climate change. To ensure that your children know the importance of what constitutes 70% of the Earth, there can’t be a better day than World Oceans Day to start their journey into understanding the deep and vast oceanic world.
What is World Oceans Day?
Children are more likely to take an interest in matters that are well explained and purposeful. You can spike their interest by telling them what World Oceans Day is about.
What is it About?
World Oceans Day is a worldwide initiative by the United Nations to spread knowledge and awareness about the vast expanse of oceans on Earth. It is based on the idea of preserving the infinite number of life forms and coral reefs that are a part of the ocean and being aware of how human actions can harm their natural habitat. The principal focus of this initiative is to bring the oceans at the forefront of global environmental discussions, and plan and execute a sustainable method to save our oceans and the planet at large.
When is World Oceans Day?
We celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8, and a lot of activities at global, national and community levels are organised worldwide to observe this event.
What is the History of World Ocean Day?
World Oceans Day was first proposed by Canada’s International Centre for Ocean Development and the Ocean Institute of Canada in 1992, at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. Since 2002, the World Ocean Network has been instrumental in garnering support and organising worldwide activities on June 8. A huge network of more than 2000 organisations worldwide are invested in making sure that the ocean is protected from any damage due to technology or other human actions.
After drawing some much-needed global attention towards preservation of the ocean, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution on December 5, 2008, to designate June 8 as World Oceans Day.
Why is World Oceans Day Important?
The composition, temperature, currents and life in the oceans drive every natural system that makes Earth habitable for humankind. Even the balance of oxygen that we breathe is primarily dependent on the ocean. The health of our oceans has become a matter of grave concern, due to the damage they have endured.
Dedicating a particular day to this cause not only helps in spreading awareness among people, but also in mobilising conscientious civic and political efforts towards addressing this global problem. Though spending just one day celebrating the oceans is not enough to bring about the changes required to conserve marine ecology, it works wonders as a starting point for people, especially young minds, to come together to take action against any damage done to oceans.
Other Important Facts About World Oceans Day for Children
Just knowing about World Oceans Day is not enough for your children to be able to grasp the whole concept of how important the ocean is for human survival. To encourage your children to celebrate our oceans and strive to make a difference, you could share some fun facts on World Oceans Day and how important the oceans are:
97% of Earth’s water is in the oceans, which is home to more than 200, 000 known species and millions of unidentified organisms.
The oceans purify the air we breathe by absorbing 30% of the carbon dioxide in the air, which also helps in reducing the effects of global warming and climate change.
Oceans are the world’s largest source of protein, and more than 2.6 billion people depend on the oceans as their primary source of protein.
40% of the oceans of the world are today affected by human actions causing pollution, depletion of fisheries, loss of coral reefs and endangerment of marine species. Seven out of the 13 great whale species are endangered today.
13, 000, 000 tonnes of plastic leak into the ocean water each year. It has been predicted that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. Over 100, 000 marine wildlife animals are killed each year due to plastic contamination of the oceans.
Each year a new theme is assigned to this day to cover different aspects of marine life and human dependency on oceans. In 2019, the celebratory theme on World Oceans Day is “Gender and The Ocean”, which emphasises the harm that gender disparity can bring to our oceans.
The President of UN General Assembly has launched a global campaign “Play It Out”, against the use of plastic.
Marine Protected Areas have been chalked out as an initiative to protect the oceans from illegal fishing.
Jellyfish as a species is older than dinosaurs and has been on this earth for more than 650, 000 years.
75% of the world’s volcanoes are located under the Pacific Ocean around Ring of Fire, the largest zone of active volcanoes.
World Ocean Days Activities for Kids
It doesn’t matter how small their hands are, children can drive this movement and even inspire adults to participate. Here are a few activities that your kids can organise on World Oceans Day:
1. Clean-up Drive
Invite all the children in the neighbourhood to the beach or any water body close by to clean the area. This will help them to understand how much litter ends up in the oceans through different waterways polluting the habitat of marine life.
2. Ocean Themed Programme
An ocean theme-based arts and crafts competition can attract a lot of attention from children of all ages. You can engage kids in a drawing competition and then display their creative works. You can even inspire a few young writers to submit stories and poems based on marine life.
3. Ocean Hunt
Treasure hunts are an intriguing way to engage children. Keeping the spirit of World Oceans Day, you can organise an ocean hunt by creating puzzles around facts from the oceanic world, leading to prizes like ornaments made out of sea-shells, passes to any nearby aquarium, books with interesting facts about the ocean, etc.
4. Storytelling Competition
It is safe to say that all kids love stories, especially when they get to be the judge of who is the best storyteller. Engage the adults around and encourage them to bring in their theatrical talents to entice the kids with amazing storytelling skills. You can always use the sounds of the waves or wild animals from the ocean to enhance your performance.
5. Let the Kids Instruct
No child will say no to an opportunity to give some sound advice to his/her parents. Ask the children to make a list of human actions that harm our oceans and come up with instructional ideas to preserve them. Organise a session with all the adults, where the kids present their points of view on how to keep our oceans and planet safe.
There will be no life on land without life in the oceans. The faster we acknowledge this fact, the better for our children and us. As a parent, you can contribute by instilling the importance of oceans into your children, who will be the future leaders of this world.

11 Ways To Save Money on Diapers
Diapers are a harried parent’s best friend. Not only do they save you those thousands of trips to the toilet, but they also make travelling with babies significantly easier. But they have a sneaky way of pushing your monthly expenses beyond your budgeted amount. Figuring out how to save money on diapers and finding out the cheapest way to buy diapers is definitely a dream for every new parent.
Diapers are essential to child care and hygiene. No parent can deny their role in putting their child down for a disturbance free sleep at night or taking a day out. But the problem with diapers is that they are anything but cheap. And to top that, an average baby uses 5-7 diapers every single day. With close to 4500 diapers being used by your baby before he/she can be potty trained, this is a big cost head which pinches every parent. So here are some tips to help you save money on diapers.
How To Buy Quality Diapers Cheap
1. Throw a diaper shower
This is the best way to save money on diapers if you are going to be a first time parent. Turn your traditional baby shower into a diaper shower and let all the guests know that diapers are going to be the only acceptable gift. It will save you many emergency trips to the supermarket for a diaper run.
2. Draw up a diaper budget in advance
The reason most of us land up buying expensive diapers is because we never draw up a diaper budget. It may sound like a Scrooge-worthy move, but it pays in the long run. Always be aware of the amount you spend on every single diaper, it will make you a judicious user.
3. Avoid buying at retail price
Once you have figured out your per-diaper-price, always try to beat that price point. Start with buying in advance and never buying diapers in a hurry or in emergency.
4. Use diaper coupons
If you are wondering where to find diaper coupons, then start with subscribing to parental blogs, forums and online groups for parents. Several baby care websites also provide discount coupons in their monthly or fortnightly e-newsletters. You can also find discount coupons for diapers during promotional season of hypermarkets and supermarkets.
5. Look out for offers and diaper sale every week
Leading diaper brands often come out with attractive discounts, sale and offers on different varieties of diapers. Keep a lookout for them and track their price every week.
6. Buy online
Even if you are not a net-savvy customer and prefer to buy your groceries from the nearest supermarket, there is a world of savings in the world of e-commerce. As often as you can, buy diapers online at bargain prices.
7. Stock up and hoard
Dedicate special space for hoarding up diapers in your wardrobe. By buying larger packages and buying during sale season, you can save a huge amount.
8. Keep a track of your baby’s diaper size
In order to stock up effectively and not waste money on wrong sizes, it is important to keep a track of your baby’s diaper size. If your baby has been using size 2 for the past few months, it would be better to hoard up on size 3 instead of buying tons of size 2.
9. Try generic/ store brands
Many store brands and generic brands also come out with good quality diapers in the market. Try them out and if it works for your baby, buy them instead of the branded diapers to save money.
10. Always calculate the value per diaper package
In the excitement of buying in bulk and saving up, don’t forget to check the quantity available per package. Even same priced packages from different brands can have varied quantities per package.
11. Use cloth diapers
It may seem like an expensive measure on the face value, but in the long run, cloth diapers are the most economical when it comes to buying and using diapers. It is eco-friendly too.
Armed with these tips, you can stop dreading the next diaper change and become a smart diaper buyer today! Read more

Daily Diet and Routine for Lactating Mothers
Hello, All New Mothers!
Are you anxious about all the night wake-ups to breastfeed your little one? Are you worried that lack of sleep and required nutrition will impact your health and, consecutively, your baby’s health? Here is a healthy lifestyle routine that you can follow daily to stay fit and energetic to give your baby the best of yourself.
It is best for all new mothers to wake up early in the morning.
Before 7 am – Start your day with one glass of cow milk, 2-3 almonds or walnuts, with cow ghee (if possible). This will provide you with all the nutrients and energy required for the day.
Before 8.30 am- Breakfast
For breakfast, you can have Rava/Upma/Dalia/Oats/1Egg/1 Chapati with vegetables. You can also have Poha/Idli/Moong dal (green gram) dosa, etc., sometimes in a week.
Before 10 am – You must have fruits like Pomegranate/Apple (2-4 slices)/Sweet lime, etc.
Before 12.30 pm – Have your lunch before 12.30 pm and avoid an afternoon nap to prevent indigestion issues. Your plate should have one bowl of pulses (primarily Green gram), one bowl of green and leafy vegetables or fruit vegetables (to provide you with necessary fiber), one small bowl of lentil sprouts (for protein), two chapati/phulka (made of wheat or sorghum for required carbohydrates).
Fruit vegetables are Calabash, also known as bottle gourd, Sponge gourd, Drumsticks. All fruit vegetables are good to be included in your diet; however, it is better to repeat the ones mentioned here frequently.
All green, leafy vegetables are good for consumption. However, it is better to avoid Fenugreek as it can lead to acidity. Nevertheless, Fenugreek can be included in the diet in the winter season and once a week in other seasons.
Green gram is a source of several nutrients and should be consumed more frequently than other lentils that can be taken once or twice a week.
Before 4-5 pm - Evening Snack
You can either take any fruit or have one cup of tea brewed with ginger, holy basil, and cardamom.
Before 7.30 pm - Dinner
You can include the same items suggested for lunch. However, you can include some different vegetables or fruit vegetables to add variety.
Important Tip - Sweets and ice-creams should be eaten before lunch as they are difficult to digest. It is also recommended to extra cook non-vegetarian dishes and have them for lunch as they are hard to digest as well.
It is very important to exercise daily. You can start with 10 Surya-namaskar, gradually increasing it to 30.

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much and it is quite difficult to say anything about it without personally examination and proper reports evaluation. So better to consult with your treating gynaecologist in person as she knew the exact health condition of your pregnancy and can guide you better.
Take care

A. Absolutely hundred percent normal if the child changes the position then it’s just a matter of time otherwise I would just say that sometimes kids do not change the position throughout their pregnancy so now you should just be mentally sorted to have a C-section
