What It’s Like Being the Mom of a Boy
A daughter is her mom’s best friend and her dad’s little princess (I know I am my parents' too)! But a son is his dad’s MVP for life and his mom’s true love. The purity of a son’s love for his mother is complete and uncomplicated! Here, I want to write about what it's like being the mother of a boy.
It is, first and foremost, an honour, because it gives you the opportunity to raise men. It gives you an insight into a man’s world; it helps you understand how they see and interact in society.
It is an adventure because every day is a new challenge dealing with this little energy monster! Everything is higher- activity levels, hunger, humour and love. You will forever be low on energy running after him.
It makes you comfortable with risk and less afraid of the unknown. A son will always be one leap away from an injury!
You have to come to terms with feeling both braver and more terrified than you ever thought possible. He is an explorer and climber, always up for causing trouble.
It is unpredictable! Just when you think he’s the toughest, roughest kid, he will surprise you with the softest word or the kindest act that will melt your heart! The sweet snuggles and sloppy kisses are the bestest!
Dressing up boys can get frustrating! Unlike the girls' section which is utterly adorable, the boys' section is smaller, with a limited colour palette and the same old clothing options; you really have to brainstorm so that his next look doesn’t look too mundane!
He is your knight in shining armour! No matter how tiny he is, his protective instincts are always there to keep me safe from all harm! Oh boy! My husband can never dare to mess with me when my munchkin is around!
Your house will never be a quiet place ever again; it will always be loud unless he's sleeping or outside! Neither will it be clean! Boys have a unique skill of creating a mess in every corner of the house, especially if you are expecting guests!
You are going to watch him race his cars, build & crash those blocks, play cricket in the dirt and then in the evening, calmly watch TV with grandparents and later take his favourite toy to bed to sleep! He can be destructive or creative, all depending on his mood!
Being a mom of a boy makes you realize how pathetic all the gender stereotypes are! Worrying about raising them in a world that thrives of toxic masculinity, asking them to man up and choke up those tears - no more! Teaching them emotional intelligence and seeing them display emotion with understanding and compassion is an important part of motherhood. It's up to us to try and dismantle this culture that breeds unhealthy hyper-masculinity amongst men!
As I raise my son, I am forever conscious that I am raising a little man, striving to do a better job at it and setting a better example! So to all the new-age moms raising sons, I am so proud of you for the efforts you are putting into your little fellas' upbringing. And to the moms of all the gentlemen we have around us, thank you for doing such a good job!

You can apply a good sunscreen lotion with a stronger SPF about 20 minutes before getting out in the sun. Also, make sure that the skin is moisturised properly.
3. Prickly Heat
One of the most common skin diseases in the summer is prickly heat. This condition can affect kids as well as adults. The red rashes on the skin can be extremely discomforting and can cause excessive itching too. This condition arises when a person sweats profusely, and the sweaty clothes keep getting rubbed against the skin causing rashes and itching.
What Can You Do
To beat summer diseases in India, you must keep your skin dry. Make sure sweaty clothes are changed, and apply any good prickly heat powder to keep the skin dry. Cornstarch works well for keeping the skin dry.
4. Food Poisoning
Food poisoning is another disease that spreads during the summer season and can occur by eating contaminated food or water. This condition may trigger when you eat food that has been in contact with various kinds of viruses, bacteria or toxins. The symptoms of the disease include vomiting, diarrhoea, nausea, stomach pain, etc.

This contagious disease spreads through air-borne particles that are spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes or if the caregiver comes in direct with the infected person. 6. Jaundice

Water-as required
Preparation method:
Step 1: In a small mixie jar, add cashews, almonds and cardamom make it a fine paste by adding the required water.
Step 2: In a big mixie jar, add eggs, sugar, salt and blend it until sugar dissolves.
Step 3: Mix the fine paste we prepared with the egg mixture and blend again. Finally, add milk and give a pulse.
Step 4: Take a pan to bake, grease with ghee. Pour the mixture and add 2 tbsp. of ghee to the egg mixture.
Step 5: Take an automatic rice cooker or idly maker, pour water required to cook and place the stand.
Step 6: Place the pan with egg mixture over the stand and bake it for 20 to 30mins.
Once cooled down, Yummy protein-rich egg pudding is ready to serve!!!!
You can also chill and serve!!
Note: You can also add saffron on the top if you like the kesar flavour. Check if it is cooked or not by inserting a small stick.

Mix sprout coriander dosa
This one's a tasty variety of dosa especially created to add protein and fiber to the dosa and make it more wholesome. Sprouts are super foods and eating raw sprouts is the best way to benefit from them, but very few like to eat them raw, so recipes like this are useful. This recipe uses sprouted whole green gram (moong), whole black gram (udad) and white chickpeas (Kabuli channa), all powerful foods packed in one.

Ingredients
For Soaking
3 cups idli rice(a special rice available in the Indian stores for making idli and dosas)
1 cup whole white urad dal(split black gram)
2 tsp (teaspoon) fenugreek seeds
Water for soaking
For Sprouting
1/3 cup whole green gram
1/3 cup whole black gram(urad)
1/3 cup white chick peas(chole)
Water for soaking
For Grinding
1 cup mixed sprouts
3 cups idli rice
1 cup whole white urad dal
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 garlic pod, peeled or unpeeled
½ an inch ginger piece
2 to 3 green chilies
Salt to taste
For coriander mixed sprout dosa:
1 cup coriander, finely chopped
4 tsp oil, For the seasoning
1 small onion, finely chopped
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 green chill, finely chopped
1 tbsp (tablespoon) coriander, finely chopped
Method
To Make Idli Dosa Batter
Step 1
Soak idli rice in water. Let the water completely immerse the rice. Allow it to soak for about 6 hours.
Step 2
Simultaneously, soak the urad dal and fenugreek in water in a similar fashion, so that the dal immerses completely in water. Let it also soak for about 6 hours.
Step 3
Grind the urad dal into a fine smooth batter. While grinding, use the water used for soaking to make it into a smooth and fluffy batter.
Step 4
Pour this batter into a large container(Large enough to allow the batter to ferment and increase in its volume)
Step 5
Grind the rice into a smooth paste, adding just the required amount of water to grind into a almost smooth batter. Do not add too much batter else it will become too watery. You can grind the rice in batches for better smoothness.
Step 6
Combine the urad and rice batter, add salt to taste and set aside for overnight or at least 12 hours until the batter ferments. Once fermented, the batter will rise in volume.
For Sprouting
Step 1
Sort the whole grams to remove stones.
Step 2
Wash and then soak in water for 6-8 hours or overnight.
Step 3
After soaking, wash the moong again and drain the Water.
Step 4
Then, hang the soaked moong in a moist cloth for 10-12 hours (depending on the climate).
Step 5
Allow the sprouts to come out of the muslin cloth. Sprinkle water frequently if the cloth becomes dry.
Step 6
If you see short shoots coming out, your sprouts are ready to use.
To make mix sprouts coriander dosa
Step 1
First grind sprouts along with idli-dosa batter, cumin seeds, garlic, ginger and green chilies, coriander along with a little water. Don't add too much water to prevent it from becoming runny.
Step 2
Pour it into a mixing bowl, add salt and mix.(Remember, your idli-dosa batter already has some salt added to it, add accordingly)
Step 3
Place a griddle / non-stick tawa on medium heat.
Step 4
When it is hot enough, pour a ladle of batter and swirl in a circular motion to spread it out like a dosa. Drizzle a little oil around the dosa.
Step 5
Spread some of the seasonings on the top. The wet surface will help it to stick. If required add a little oil over the onions.
Step 6
When the bottom of the dosa lifts off the pan easily, flip over to other side and cook for a minute.
Step 7
Turn it again, fold in half and turn off the heat.
Step 8
Serve hot with a dip or sauce or chutney of your liking.
Step 9
Repeat the process for making the other dosas.
