How to Deal With Leaky Breasts
Breasts begin to produce milk during pregnancy, and leaking breasts are a situation many soon-to-be and new mothers must grapple with. However, with the right approach one can find that it can effectively be tackled without causing any harm to the body.
Video: How to Deal with Leaky Breasts
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2nCfJWGcHs
Why Do Your Breasts Leak?
Leaking breasts during pregnancy are common among lactating mothers. It is a healthy sign where the body’s natural mechanism helps in relieving the feeling of fullness and engorgement that nursing mothers experience in their breasts during this period. This is also known as ‘milk let down’.
The hormone oxytocin is responsible for this as it causes milk ejection reflex (MEF). The same hormone is present during orgasm and can lead to milk spraying during climax.
How Long Do Breasts Leak?
It can last from a few weeks to several months making it unpredictable and uncomfortable. In some cases, it may start during pregnancy whereas in other cases it may last only during the first few weeks of lactation. Some may even experience it throughout the nursing period right up to when the child starts weaning.
Quite often while feeding the baby from one breast, the other breast may start leaking. Spraying of breast milk can occur when being intimate with your partner.
Emotional triggers may also lead to dripping. This can lead to situations where thinking or talking about your child can induce leaking. Even hearing the cry of another child or looking at pictures of a child have been known to lead to leakages.
How Can You Stop Breast From Leaking?
How to stop breast milk from leaking has been asked over and over again by nursing mothers. Since it's a natural mechanism of the body, it may take time until your body gets accustomed to the baby’s feeding schedule. The baby may also take time to grasp the breastfeeding schedule.
Frequent and unrestricted access to the breasts helps in relieving excess milk. It is advised not to miss feedings and to provide longer feeding sessions. This helps in shaping the sphincter around the muscles in the nipple giving it shape and also stop such leakages in future.
In situations where you are away from your baby, applying a slight pressure against your breast can stop the leaking. This can be done by crossing your arms across your breasts and slightly pressing it against your forearms. Reduction in leakage over time, however, has no impact on the quantity of milk flow; rather it is a sign that the body is regulating the milk production.
You can also use breast pads for leaking breasts as they absorb drips, keeping the breast clean and dry. However, you should replace them frequently to avoid soreness and moistness in and around the nipples.
What Else Can You Do To Prevent Breast Leakage
Pressure due to the fullness of the breasts can be relieved immediately by breastfeeding the baby. However, if the pressure persists even after the baby is full then manually expressing some milk helps. This prevents breast infection called plugged breasts or mastitis, which is painful and might keep you in bed for 24 hours.
Whenever there is a sensation of milk let down, the base of the palms can be pressed across the nipples to prevent dripping. If you are sitting across a table then cupping your chin in your hand and applying pressure using your forearms on the nipples can stop milk let down. This should be performed after milk production is in full swing. Applying any pressure manually during early weeks of lactation can lead to clogged milk duct which is undesirable.
Wearing patterned clothes can camouflage leakage spots and prevent embarrassment in public.. Avoid silk and dress smarter by opting for darker colours. Wearing jackets and sweaters can hide visible wet spots.
Breastfeeding your child before going to bed will minimise leakages. However, one must keep in mind that the breasts are never truly empty. Sleeping patterns must be kept in check.
Placing a bath towel on the bed before sleeping will protect your mattress and keep your bed sheet dry.
Mothers can also invest in discreet milk collectors that can easily be slipped inside the bra. This helps in storing milk that can be provided to the baby as and when required.
What Types Of Breast Pads Should You Use?
Disposable breast pads are available in the market but mothers should be careful. Choosing the wrong pad can lead to several breastfeeding-related problems. Those having plastic or waterproof lining must be avoided as they trap moisture and can lead to nipple irritation. Discreet pads that can be fit under the bra are also available.
Reusable cotton breast pads are another alternative. One breast pad usually lasts between 2 hours to 8 hours, but the duration varies from product to product.
Washable and reusable cloth breast pads can even be created at home. These are safer and chosen by mothers who are sceptical about investing in breast pads. While first-time moms may be a little unsure of this approach, seasoned moms may be able to do it effortlessly.
The experience of breastfeeding is different for every woman. Discussing the problems associated with it will help in creating a sense of ease amongst first time mothers. Every mother wants the best for their baby, and insecurity and embarrassment related to leaking breasts during this period should not tarnish the beautiful experience of becoming a mother.

Do Corn Flakes Help in Weight Loss - The Answer Will Surprise You
Cornflakes were an accidental discovery by two brothers, Will and John Kellogg. Breakfast is the most important meal, and also the first meal of the day for your body. Cereals are one of the best choices for a healthy breakfast. Many advertisements list out the benefits of cornflakes for weight loss, but when you have a goal of losing weight, you should avoid cereals that are packed with sugar and unnecessary fat.
A wrong choice in selecting a cereal for your breakfast can throw you off the track to reach your weight-loss goals. Read on to find out if cornflakes are good for weight loss.
Are Corn Flakes Really Good for Weight Loss?
Cornflakes are a popular choice of breakfast for most of us because they are easily available, convenient to prepare and eat, and also filling. Since they are easily digested and light on the stomach, most people eat it daily for breakfast. However, a glance at the nutritional profile of the humble cornflakes would tell you that cornflakes are not a healthy option for your breakfast. The flakes have a low-fat content, but the sugar and corn syrup added to the flakes make it an unhealthy choice. Cornflakes are laden with malt, fructose corn syrup and sugar, which make them very high in refined sugars.
Corn syrup used in cornflakes has been found to have high levels of fructose in them. This indicates that they have a high Glycemic Index value as well, which makes them unsuitable for daily consumption. Breakfast with high sugar content may result in making the body resistant to insulin, resulting in diabetes. The insulin levels in the body rise with an increase in the blood sugar levels, thereby, resulting in cells to store fat in them. This leads to weight gain.
How to Lose Weight on a Diet of Cornflakes
Knowing that cornflakes are very high on sugar, let us look at how to use corn flakes for weight loss. The key to staying healthy and losing weight is by increasing your fibre intake. Fibre keeps you satiated for a longer time, reducing the urge to snack in between meals. Many people have been eating cornflakes with milk for weight loss, without knowing that this may lead to weight gain on the contrary.
If you love your bowl of cornflakes every day, then reduce the number of flakes in it and add more fruits and nuts. Do not add extra sugar to your bowl of cornflakes and try to substitute your regular milk with skimmed milk. You can also explore the alternative milk options that are widely available in the market. They aid in controlling your weight gain. You can also mix your cornflakes with other whole-grain cereals in a 50:50 ratio to make a healthy bowl that will keep you full until lunchtime.
Though cornflakes are a simple and convenient breakfast option that suits our busy lifestyle, they are not healthy. Next time you pick that packet of cornflakes from the store, remember to read about the dietary contents that are mentioned on the package. You can buy low-fat cornflakes that are available in the market. Make a healthy choice and stay healthy and fit.

9 Craft Projects to Turn Old Stuff into Brand New Stuff!
Most of us believe in getting the maximum out of household items, even if their life is practically over. Be it those stacks of paper cups we store in case guests come by or those old CDs we keep lying around for their nostalgia factor, we’ve all got things that are kept at home for a day that most likely will never come! So, we bring you some craft projects you can make with your child out of items like these.
Craft Projects to Make Your Own Home Decor
Most of us like to adorn our home with beautiful and innovative pieces of art. So, why not make them yourself instead of buying? Here are some things that are both beautiful and useful.

Love Letters to My Big Dimpled Butt, My Sausage Arms and the Nose My Daddy Gave Me
What started out as a personal experiment turned into an influx of letters flooding our inboxes. While we knew that every woman struggled with accepting her body (yes even the ones that workout and have no jiggle), so many can express so beautifully their love/hate relationship with it. Let's look what these women wanted to say to their noses, arms, flab and more!
Tucking my love handles into my jeans this morning and watching the bulge disappear has become such an involuntary action, yet somehow the pleasure(read:LIE) of appearing slimmer is always there! Plucking that thick chin hair, sucking that tummy in for photos, holding the camera high up for a selfie, these things are such a big part of me and if you're anything like me (chubby, with imbalanced hormones and sort of hairy) then they are probably 'normal' things you do too!
I'm not sure if it was my love for writing letters or my habit of talking to inanimate objects that birth this but I began to wonder, what if I addressed everything about me that I had trouble accepting? Would that change the way I look at my flaws? The next thing to do was Google "Love letters to my butt". Turns out like all other great ideas these days, this one too had been done.
Nonetheless, I sent out messages to some kick-ass women I know and asked them if they would like to write letters to a body part or anything about themselves they've struggled to love. 2 days later, I had 13 letters, some hilarious, some touching and all of them endearing.
I'm not sure how and when my love handles brought about such purpose but I'm glad they found their purpose, apart from popping out my low waisted jeans!

5. Aparna is a 20-something girl whose cheeks you'd want to pull but don't be fooled by the cute-face, she is the sass equivalent of Beyonce! Aparna wakes up each morning and kicks her PCOS in its face ever since she was 18! So yeah, we think she is awesome!
6. Mahak loves to weave regular words together to make magical sentences. She also magically hides these thunder-thighs she addresses in her letters beautifully under flowing clothes. Like honestly, we wouldnt know there were jiggly thighs if she hadn't told us!
7. Rashmi is a badass girl with a gift for words and emotions. She can magically transform from one-of the-guys to that friend you can talk to about anything under the sun. From intense, emo, deep and dark to hilarious, cheeky and fun, Rashmi pretty much has all your moods covered. Let's hear about her long-lived battle of the tresses!

13. Tianna is a galaxy-unicorn loving 16 year old trapped in a 30 year old chubby body. She is always writing stories in her head and most times she is living in one too! Read about Tianna's relationship with her body below.
Remember ladies, sometimes you are the only one that can make you see how beautiful you really are. Sometimes you have to give yourself pep talks. Like "hello,You're a badass, you're doing great, Don't be sad, love you!". There are days you won't feel like the sun is shining out of your bottom and that's okay. As long as you get out from under that blanket eventually, dust the leftover pizza and cake crumbs off yourself, look at yourself in the mirror and see somebody who made it through the storm, you're good!
So Dear, dimply-butt cheeks, stretch-marked hips, ample tummy rolls, hairy legs, uneven breasts, skinny calves, crooked teeth and patchy skin, you are unique, you are special and you make us part of the incredible women we are!
To the women who were as touched reading these honest accounts as we were and would love to continue this, send in your letters to us or tell us that you are interested in the comments below. Read more
