Benefits Of Eating Hummus In Pregnancy
The benefits of consuming hummus during pregnancy incorporate:
1. Required Foetus Development
As per the chart above, 246 grams of hummus contains 39% of proteins. And, one should know that proteins, is the essential nutrient required during pregnancy. Proteins are the building blocks of the body’s cells, and the same case applies to the foetus. Therefore, it becomes essential to have enough of protein, especially during the second and the third trimesters.
2. Improved Digestion
It has already been mentioned that hummus is a rich source of dietary fibre. As a matter of fact, the more the fibre consumption, better the digestion. If you are pregnant and suffering from constipation, hummus could help you bring the digestive system back on track.
3. Reduces Chances Of Birth Defects
Pregnancy demands getting a good dose of folic acid. This acid prevents chances of developing neural tube defects that are defects associated with the spinal cord and the brain. A pregnant woman is prone to neural defects mostly in the first trimester, and the most common ones include spina bifida and anencephaly.
4. Development of Brain And Retina
Hummus contains omega-3 fatty acids that help in pregnancy in one way or the other. The main benefit is the brain and the retinal development in the foetus. Along with it, another interesting benefit is the reduction of chances of one getting prenatal depression.
5. Bone Development
The most important part of a fetus’ growth is the bone development. Hummus is rich in iron and thus helps in strengthening the bones not only of the baby but the mother too.
Risks And Side Effects
Though beneficial, hummus has some risks and side effects too. Hummus is said to contain Listeria; a bacteria that could pose a danger to you and your baby. Once you get infected with these bacteria, it could lead to a disease called “Listeriosis.” When a women’s immune system is weak, the chances of developing this disease increase further. Therefore, for the better safety of you and your unborn, pre-packaged hummus or self-prepared hummus is recommended.
One should also check for the symptoms of Listeria, such as fever, rashes, swollen face, cough, or even cold. Consult your doctor immediately, in case you observe any of these symptoms as Listeriosis could lead to miscarriage, premature delivery, or even stillbirth.
How To Make Hummus At Home
Irrespective of you being pregnant or not, always prefer preparing hummus at home. This makes for fresh consumption as well as reduces the chances of it containing Listeria. Here’s the method to prepare it.
Ingredients
Chickpeas- 2 cups
Tahini-1 Cup
Water-1/2 cup
Lemon Juice-1/4 cup
Salt- As Per The Taste
How To Prepare
Let the chickpeas soak in water for a night
Boil the chickpeas for about 2 hours and then strain its water
Grind the chickpeas along with the other ingredients in a food processor
Serve yourself the creamily textured hummus
Food Combination Ideas With Hummus
Either you can prepare hummus or buy it pre-made from the market. Keeping in mind that you are pregnant, preparing it should be the only option that you consider. You could enjoy the freshly prepared hummus along with carrots or veggie sticks. Alternatively, you can use hummus as a spread on sandwiches. For better taste, you can also add cucumber, bell pepper, and cheese. One more way to savour this dish is to serve it as a salad dressing along with pita.
This was all about hummus, the light, and the rich nutrient spread or aptly the dip. Always keep in mind to maintain your dietary requirements well during pregnancy. Moreover, eat fresh hummus that is prepared by you and do not over-eat as an excess of anything can be harmful.

Help Hubby Overcome Bad Habits with 4 Practical Tips
No one's perfect but that doesn't mean we can't strive to be better! If your husband has a few bad quirks that drive you crazy, get him to ditch them. Use these tips to help your husband change his bad habits and you won't have to try too hard.
You’re madly in love with your husband and the two of you have made many compromises and adjustments to build a fulfilling relationship. But are there some habits he has that really irk you and at times, test your patience? Well, marriage is definitely about compromise but this doesn’t mean you have to put up with everything!
Bad Habits Husbands Have That Irritate Women
Everyone’s unique but there are common habits husbands tend to share that really put you off. They include:
Smoking
Throwing dirty or wet towels on the bed
Leaving smelly socks on the floor
Leaving hair in the bathroom sink
Peeing without putting up the toilet seat or forgetting to put it down later
Scratching privates
Picking nose
Farting without abandon
If you’ve tried putting up with these lousy habits but have reached the end of your tether, it’s time to take the bull by the horns!
Tips to Help Your Husband Change His Bad Habits
1. Focus on The Solution
Though tempting, preaching can put him on the defensive and lead to an ugly fight. Instead, tell him in a soft voice what you feel about a particular habit he has and let him think on his own how to solve it. Remember, your focus should be on changing your husband’s bad habits tactfully and not creating more problems.
2. Take it Slow
If you think that you can change all his bad habits in a day, think again. You need to be patient and point out one bad habit at a time. Is he dumping his smelly socks on the floor instead of the laundry? Tell him what to do, remind him if he forgets and bring up another habit only after he starts coming around.
3. Say Cheers to Girl Power
If you’re not sure how to change your partner's bad habits, exert your woman power. Does your hubby eat too many unhealthy meals outside? Change things by preparing delicious but healthy meals at home. Bring a romantic twist by organising a candle light dinner. If he spends a lot of time watching television or gaming, shift his focus by planning fun things in bed and outside.
4. Wait for The Right Moment
Talk to your husband when he’s in a good mood and not when he’s had a bad day or is feeling ill. It’s a good idea to treat him to his favourite dish and then lovingly bring up the habit-breaking. You can also start a conversation when cuddling before settling down for the night. Do be sure to check your tone if you don't want damage!
When you sit down to talk to your husband about his bad habits, be ready for some criticism from him too. After all, it’s not just him who has them! Be objective and realise that not all of your husband's bad habits can be changed. You might have to live with some, but then what's love if not accepting of faults? Read more

Diwali Makeup Trends - All You Need to Rock the Festive Season
2018 began with the runways glittering and bursting with colour, which gave us good insights into the trends to be expected for the coming year. Three main looks stood out and two were at completely opposite ends of the makeup spectrum - a natural and dewy look on one end, dramatic and sparkly on the other! With the festive season approaching, keep these tips and tricks handy to make sure that your Diwali makeup shines through!
The 3 Main Trends for Diwali 2018
The best aspect of the Diwali makeup trends this year is that it caters to people who are on polar ends of the makeup spectrum - those who love to rock the ‘no makeup’ look and those who want to go all out. But for those who like the 'in-between' look, fret not - there's something for you as well!
1. The Dewy and Natural Look
Beautiful glowing skin, flushed pink cheeks and lips, and an even complexion are the highlights of this look. Even those who aren’t fans of makeup tend to appreciate the natural prettiness this look provides, and with good reason! Take into consideration Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt’s latest appearance on Koffee with Karan - both stars were glowing, looking like they weren’t wearing a stitch of makeup! Here’s how you can achieve a soft glow with defined features:
1. Start off with a good primer, which will provide the foundation for your makeup. It’s essential to choose one that is long-lasting so that your makeup stays intact amid all the activities you’ll be doing.
2. Apply an even layer of BB Creme all over your face, which helps to even out your complexion. Following this, dab on some concealer to cover dark spots an blemishes.
3. Use a blush that suits your complexion (shades of pink such as powder, peach or brownish-pink are popular options) to give your cheeks that just-been-pinched look.
4. Your brows are an important part of your look! If you’re blessed with full brows, Provide them with some glam and structure by brushing them out with a spoolie, then filling them in with some black or brown eyeshadow.
5. For your eyes, draw a thin even line on your upper eyelid, keeping it subtle. Sweep a muted or natural shade of eyeshadow over your lids and make your lashes pop with a coat of mascara.
6. Finish off the look with a lip colour that’s just a shade lighter than your natural lip colour. You can add a hint of gloss to brighten them up too. Coral lips are quite trendy right now - all you have to do line your lips with a coral lip liner and fill it in with a matching shade.
And voila! This makeup look will definitely have people wondering whether or not you’ve amplified your natural beauty but it will be difficult for them to find out!

KEY TAKEAWAY: Follow the steps provided in this video by Corallista for a really fresh and dewy look that you can also carry forward after Diwali too, for an everyday look. You can also customize it with the products you use normally.
2. The Dramatic Fashionista Look
This one is for those who love to make a statement with their makeup and really have some fun with colours and sparkle! Dramatic eyes and strong lips with plenty of glitter in tow - here’s how you can achieve a strong Diwali makeup look!
1. Here too, primer and BB creme will form the base for your makeup, because the foundation on which you apply your products needs to be strong and even. Use a highlighter on your cheekbones, brow bones, down the centre and on the tip of your nose, and the inner corners of your eyes too. A bronzer will help accentuate your glow, and yes, this applies to dusky beauties as well! Find a shade that is 1 or 2 shades darker than your natural skin tone and apply it on your forehead, the hollows of your cheeks, the edge of your jawline, and on the sides of your nose. Remember to use the bronzer before applying blush on your cheeks.
2. As we mentioned earlier, it’s all about shine and sparkle and glitter this year, and what better time to implement these styles than the festival of lights! For your eye makeup, move away from blacks and browns, and amp up the traditional smoky eye with bright colours that complement your outfit. Use glitter eyeshadow to highlight the inner corners of your eyes.
3. Don’t restrict yourself to the same old line that you draw on with the eyeliner. Experiment with a daring cat-eye or a negative-space look, to really make a statement.
4. Follow up with a strong coat of mascara. Explore options in different colours to create some drama! Don’t forget to define your brows as well.
5. Keeping in line with the trend of glitter glam, matte lipsticks won’t really make the cut. Dab on a shade of glossy lipstick (neons and metallic shades are in vogue!) to complete the look, but ensure that the shade doesn’t compete too much with your eye makeup. In fact, if you can find the right shade of red lipstick for your skin tone, it’s the main weapon you’ll need in your makeup arsenal!
6. An additional touch of sparkle you can add to your lash line or outer corners of your eyes can be with crystals or the easy Indian alternative that is sparkly bindis.
And that’s how you make a bold statement!

KEY TAKEAWAY: This is how you carry off a dramatic look with plenty of glitter and colour! This tutorial on the channel 'Smithad Beauty' provides instructions on how to pull off a bold look for any festive celebration!
3. The Best of Both Worlds
Now if you’re someone who loves both looks but are confused about which one to go for, choose an option from both trends by playing up your assets. You can go for a dramatic eye, complete with a bold eyeshadow, luscious lashes, and lined really well. If the thought of doing elaborate eye makeup sounds too complicated for you, emphasize your lips with a bold lip colour and define it with a liner. You can also accentuate your Cupid’s bow with a tiny amount of highlighter, just to give your pout that ‘oomph’ factor! Additionally, make sure that the makeup you’re wearing is waterproof and suits your skin type (dry, normal or oily) so that nothing can disturb it and spoil all those selfies you’re planning to click. In the case of this look, it's best to keep things a little more on the shimmery side so that your makeup doesn't look too natural, which is why using a highlighter and bronzer is a must!

KEY TAKEAWAY: In this video, Pooja Rai demonstrates how to achieve a look that's neither too subtle nor too dramatic. She sports a strong lip and plays up her eyelashes while keeping everything else on the neutral side. This look is perfect for those who are not very keen on extremely bold colours but would like some shimmer and glow.
With very few days to go before Diwali dawns, make sure you take good care of your skin with moisturisation and hydration. Avoid experimenting with any new product so close to the occasion lest it reacts negatively with your skin and causes it to break out. Drink plenty of water and use sunscreen everytime you step outside.
While keeping up with the trends, make sure to choose the look that you'll feel most comfortable and confident in, so that you're able to carry it off with panache and rock your Diwali parties and celebrations!

First thing I would sayalways havefaith in God and be positive. Coronatime isvery tough for all of us. I delivered a baby girl on 22 July 2020. Eight days later, on30th July, Isufferedfrom fever (102).I presumedit to be the after effect of delivery. But within next three days, I feltheadache and weakness in body. I became worried. So decided to go for Covid test. On 3rd of Aug 2020, samplefor Rt-Pcr taken. On 5th Aug, report came. Shockingly, I tested Covid positive. My baby at that time was just17 days old. Me and my husband both became very nervous and it was frightening and excruciating to think of baby's being infected with Covid. But docs gave as so much strength and support. They gave us that positivity and belief that everythings going to be fine. With this positivity and doctor's advice, baby had to live with my husband alone as he tested negative. I had to feed baby with proper sanitisation. Everytime, I used to put on mask to feed baby. But at this hour of grief, we don't know how the baby used to give us thesmile saying don't worry everythings will be fine. That gave us lots of strength to fight this disease. Ultimately, days passedwithout developing any symptoms. I remember with each day passing by, we used to get a sense of relief and positivity. Finally, one month passed and we all were fine. Baby has grown up now and she keeps us busy all the day with her small small acts and moments. When we think of that period, we find th most important thing that kept us moving was the beief in God and the positive environment. I must say we got lot of support from everyone. So do not worry and live happily no matter what may come. Read more

Are You Pregnant? Here's What You Should Know About Your Oral Health During Pregnancy
Pregnancy itself does not cause any inflammation of the gums or gingiva. However, for some pregnant women with already inflamed gums, along with the presence of local factors like plaque and calculus, it definitely can deteriorate their dental condition.
Studies have shown that pregnancy does not alter healthy gums, but in some cases, acute inflammation of gums occurs, which is accompanied by an increase in steroid hormones in the crevicular fluid.
Changes that occur in the gums during pregnancy are generally painless unless any acute inflammation occurs. Inflammation during the whole term of pregnancy occurs during two peaks.
During the first trimester, when there is an overproduction of gonadotropins.
During the third trimester, when oestrogen and progesterone levels are at their highest.
During this period, the gums become more inflamed and red. Bleeding while brushing or eating is also a striking feature during this period. Dryness of the mouth and bad odour are frequent complaints faced.
The main reason for inflammation in gums is basically hormonal changes, and also because the maternal immune system is thought to be suppressed during pregnancy. So after delivery, inflammation gradually decreases on its own.
Care to Be Taken During Pregnancy
Before proceeding towards any dental treatment, consent from your gynaecologist is very important.
The second trimester is considered the safest period for seeking any routine dental treatment.
It is better to avoid any elective dental care in the first and third trimester because the first trimester is the period of organogenesis, when the foetus is highly susceptible to environmental influences, whereas, in the last half of the third trimester, the risk of premature delivery exists as the uterus is very sensitive to external stimuli.
Adequate oral hygiene measures and scaling reduces the intensity of inflammation. Scaling can be performed whenever required.
Avoid being exposed to any radiation during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester.
Avoid the use of mouthwash with alcoholic content during your pregnancy.
Have a safe and happy pregnancy!
