Are Antihistamines Safe for Kids?
If your child suffers from watery eyes, running nose or has itchy skin, there is a strong likelihood that he may be suffering from some kind of allergy. In most cases, your doctor may prescribe antihistamines to help relieve the symptoms of allergy. Are you interested in knowing more about antihistamines, their types and how they work to? You should browse through this article.
What is Antihistamine?
When a kid suffers from any kind of allergic reaction, his body secretes a chemical, known as histamine. This chemical generation in the body may lead to itchy skin, stuffy nose or watery eyes. Antihistamine is the medicine that is used to cure these symptoms of allergy. These allergic medicines can be easily procured from any pharmacist. They are available in the form of tablet, syrup, sprays or in an ointment form. There are many renowned medicine brands that make antihistamine just for kids. Sometimes antihistamines may be used to cure symptoms of vomiting and nausea too.
Should You Give Antihistamines to Your Child?
If your child has any allergic reaction or allergies, then he may be prescribed anti-allergic medicines such as antihistamines. Though these medicines help in treating the symptoms of allergies such as hay fever, however, many of these medicines may not be safe your kid. It is because of the increased risk of side-effects and the limited study available on these medicines; first-generation antihistamines are sparingly administered to the kids. On the other hand, new-generation antihistamines have studies indicating the probable side-effects that these may cause on children; hence these may be a safer option in comparison to the first-generation antihistamine. However, refrain from self-medicating your child or giving these medicines without consulting your paediatrician.
Types of Antihistamine
Antihistamines are further categorised into two categories. We shall be discussing both these categories in the following two sections.
1. Sedatives (First-Generation Antihistamines)
The first-generation antihistamines are very quick in relieving the symptoms of allergy. However, these are sedatives, which mean these may cause sleepiness or drowsiness. In the following table, we shall be discussing various kinds of sedative or first-generation antihistamines.

When Child Should Take Antihistamines?
In order to keep the allergies at an arm’s distance, it should be administered before the symptoms become evident. Following are some recommendations that your doctor may make:
1. Before Bedtime
It is a known fact that allergic symptoms are at their prime during early morning hours. Therefore, if you give the medicine at bedtime, your child may be able to get some peaceful sleep.
2. Before The Allergy Season Begins
When there are pollens in the air, it is usually termed as allergy season. If you start giving antihistamines around 3 to 10 days before the allergy season sets in, it may be helpful in keeping allergy symptoms at bay.
3. All Through The Year
In case your child exhibits allergic symptoms all throughout the year, you may need to give him antihistamines all through the year to keep the allergy symptoms at bay.
Things to Remember
There are few points or things to ponder:
Before you use antihistamine, you should make sure your child’s nasal passage is clear. You may use saline nasal drops to clear the nasal passage. After clearing the nasal passage, you may carefully spray the medicine inside your child’s nose.
Ensure that you spray away from your child’s septum. A thin wall between the nostrils is called the septum.
Usually, the sprays may take some time to show improvement in the symptoms, and until then your doctor may prescribe other allergy medicines.
Figuring out which medicine may be best suited to your child’s condition may take a while. You may get in touch with your doctor to ask what your child may do or not do.

Gifting a Healthy Environment & Managing Relationships So Kids Can Learn From It
Your child learns everything from you - how you attend to others, how you receive guests, how you wish your near and dear one on occasions - it is as per your dealing that he knows who is a part of your good and bad books. It is but natural to have both good and bad books considering that we are humans...I myself am not entirely good or bad to everyone. All have different chemistry with me.
The Difference in Choice
As siblings, we all argue - even my sister and I have different tastes in clothing. But criticising others' choices is wrong. If she likes a red floral tee and I don't, that's absolutely ok. If she likes it, she should wear it happily. This difference of choice should not be highlighted in front of the kids, as by narrating that statement you are painting one person's choice as good and the other's as bad. Please keep in mind that a child can notice your statement and create his own image of the person.
Different Viewpoints
Having cordial relations is more important than being right. If there is any point of difference between you and your spouse or between you and anyone in the family, do not discuss it in front of the kids. Kids tend to remember things out of context and speak later - that can lead to serious problems and misunderstandings. They may repeat the statements in the same tone that you had used, and it becomes embarrassing for both the persons, even though the intention was not to mould the kids that way.
Parents should respect each other's way of doing things, decisions taken for the kids, and should not use inappropriate words for each other. Everybody has a different way of doing things, and that should be respected.
If someone in the family is scolding your child for doing something wrong - for example, if your child spills water on the floor and someone in the family is telling him not to repeat it, let the person complete their conversation with the kid. Interfering and protecting your child in benign situations may lead to your child repeating the same mistake instead of learning not to do it.
Over-pampering or spoiling your child is also dangerous, as it can put him in a sweet trap. But being strict should also be done within the limit - it should be done just enough so that he learns basic etiquette and does not have behavioural issues.
The agenda is to give a healthy environment to the child.
Please note no one is perfect and no one is wrong - all statements, acts and decisions are situational. If we understand this simple mantra we will have cordial relations in the family and kids will learn the same.
Be grounded to keep your kids grounded, because kids copy their parents perfectly.

Babyhug U shape reusable Muslin Nappy for Babies Product Review.
ts a great feeling when you have blessed with a beautiful little girl.
There are hundreds of things that we pre-plan for our baby during
pregnancy out of which one was what kind of nappies we are going to use
for our baby. I researched about and we came to decide we are going to
use cloth nappies for our baby. Parents choose reusable diapers for many
reasons which includes a major reason to avoid exposure of chemicals
that are there in some disposable diapers, and believe that reusable
diapers are better for infants’ with sensitive skin. Heer is now one
year old and I still love using reusable nappy. There are many reasons
that I decided to use this nappy, firstly its eco-friendly that means
mess. These nappies are easy to clean and durable to with-stand msny
wash Cycles. This nappies are made of soft muslin fabric which protects
babies tender skin and keep it rash free.
I ordered few nappies from different brand and soon I have
my favourite.
Babyhug U shape reusable Muslin Nappy set lace Extra small pack of 5 -
multicolor.
I have been started using this nappy when heer was 2 month old and still
I am using the same, she is one now it suits her completely.
Choosing right nappy for your little one from number of options can be
difficult.I would love to share pros to make your decision easy, though I
am not completely against disposable nappies as I use combination of
reusable nappies and disposable one depending on what's happening. I use
reusable nappy day-to-day at home and disposable for outing.
Key Features:-
-Cloth diapers are a one-time purchase.
-They are better for environment as you was and reuse cloth nappy. With
cloth diapers, you aren’t adding to the landfill.
-They are extra soft and comfortable for babies bottom.
-It comes in a various colours with soft maslin cloth, which keeps your
babies skin rash free.
-Cloth nappies are cheaper and best for long tun. They can be also used
for future babies if you are planning.
Health Benefits:-
-My infant can feel the diaper when it is wet. It also support early
potty training.
- Babies have less exposure to harmful chemicals, including pesticides
and fragrances. For example, muslin fabric
-I observed that cloth diapers are more breathable, which helps reduces
skin irritation. I have seen a few babies having skin allergy due to
diaper so I feel that switching to cloth diapers is the best option.
I know people are put off by the idea of handling and processing
reusable nappies – but honestly, I found it’s really not that bad. And
as for the washing, yes, it takes some effort, but once you’re in the
swing of it, it’s no different from washing your loved one’s inevitably
mucky onesies at the end of a day.
For people who wish to try reusable nappy, they are available to
purchase in online app and I recommend Firstcry app and Babyhug U shape
reusable Muslin Nappy. Read more

A. Some women may have vomiting throughout their pregnancy. The most common reason for vomiting during the third trimester may be gastritis. Make sure you eat small frequent meals, preferably every 2 hours. If your baby's weight during checkups are adequate..u needn't worry much about this. You can also consult your doctor and take anti emetics and PPIs if the vomiting is bothering you or interfering with your daily activities.
