These 10 Habits are What Helped me Keep my Breastmilk Supply Constant
As a new mom it is natural to feel overwhelmed about things. Learning how to
breastfeed and finding the rhythm with your new born is the important. When you're a
first-time mom, the first four to six weeks of breastfeeding are crucial for success.
Many new moms worry whether they are making enough milk. Truth is most new
mothers make as sufficient breast milk, but these few techniques can help a new mom
maintain a healthy breast milk supply.
Establish your Breastfeeding Technique and Keep Breastfeeding Constantly
And try these simple steps before going for supplements or medication.
Ensure correct latch
A proper latch is the mandatory. It is often due to an unsatisfactory latch that
breastfeeding mothers don't produce as much breast milk as they should.
In case you are not sure if the latch is proper talk to a lactation consultant.
Breast Feed more
A new mother’s body produces milk based on the laws of supply and demand. By
feeding your baby at regular intervals you are telling your body to keep up the supply.
Try feeding the baby every two to three hours. If baby is sleeping for more than 3 hours, then try waking and nursing.
Breast compression
Breast compression helps remove more breast milk when you are using a breast pump.
If your baby tends to fall asleep really soon while nursing, breast compression may help.
Establish a Supplemental nursing system
If your baby gets frustrated while sucking because the flow is less, then feeding them
previously expressed milk may help them learn to suck for longer. I used the Philips
Avent Electric Breast Pump to express breast milk in between direct nursing sessions
When you simulate your breasts in between feeding sessions by pumping milk using a
breast pump, it helps increase the supply.
Using the Philips Avent Electric Breast Pump also helped me establish a
supplemental nursing system. My family members could feed my son the expressed
milk pumped using my Philips Avent Electric Breast Pump.
You can use either an Electric breast pump or a Manual Breast Pump to express. It is
also helps working moms continue their breast feeding journey.
As a working mother, I joined back work after 3 months of Maternity
leave. By establishing a pumping and expressed milk feeding routine I
was able to continue my breast feeding journey even while working
full time.
Simulating and warming your breasts before pumping can help you feel more
comfortable. Use either an Electric or a Manual breast pump, like the Philips Avent
Electric Breast Pump or the Philips Avent Manual Breast Pump to express milk.
Lifestyle changes
Stress, fatigue or consumption of too much caffeine can hinder supply. Make simple
lifestyle changes.
Feed from both sides
Remember to try and alternate the breast you start breast feeding with at each session.
Skin to Skin
Skin to skin contact helps the new born and the mother form a special warm bond. Put
your baby on your chest and cover with a blanket. This is called Kangaroo care.
Eat a well-balanced meal & drink enough fluids
Fuel your body with healthy meals and avoid processed foods like oatmeal, green leafy
vegetables, almonds etc. There are few foods & supplements which may help. Always consult your doctor before trying any of these.
Garlic
Fenugreek
Fennel
Ginger
Spirulina
Believe in yourself & your Baby
Most new moms make more than enough breast milk. If you are breastfeeding regularly
and your baby is showing signs of being well fed, you are doing just fine.
Try not be overwhelmed though that is a natural sentiment for a new mom. If you have doubts talk to a doctor, lactation consultant or a breast feeding support group.
Lastly remember that "Fed is best" as long as your baby is well fed and getting required nourishment, it’s all fine.

Eating Prawns During Pregnancy- Is It Safe?
Craving some delicious prawn dishes? Butter garlic prawns, prawn curry, stir-fried prawns dipped in sauce, prawn biryani, pepper prawns. The list goes on. Prawns belong to the crustacean group of sea creatures and are delicious. However, with many people suffering from allergic reactions to prawns, one wonders if eating prawns is safe during pregnancy.
Is it Safe to Eat Prawns When Pregnant?
While some seafood needs to be avoided during pregnancy, prawns are generally safe when procured from a non-polluted source and cooked thoroughly. However, during pregnancy, moderation is the key for every food you add to your list. Consuming prawns in excess or not adhering to certain precautions while consuming prawns can lead to adverse effects during pregnancy. In case of doubt, always consult your doctor before the consumption of any food item.
Health Benefits of Eating Prawns
Apart from being delicious, prawns are packed with minerals and vitamins essential for mommies-to-be.
Packed With Proteins
Prawns are an excellent source of proteins during pregnancy. Protein-rich foods help in stabilising blood sugar levels and keep gestational diabetes in check. Being low in calories and fat content, prawns will help you gain healthy muscle mass.
Rich in Vitamins
Prawns are a rich source of Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, iron, zinc, choline, iodine, copper, and phosphorus. Essential to improving immunity, thyroid function, and brain development, they are also helpful in the development of bones and teeth.
Rich in Other Nutrients
Prawns contain nutrients that are readily absorbed by our body and essential for our body to protect and heal itself. Selenium is an antioxidant that helps fight cell damage and protects against certain cancers. Amino acids help regenerate new cells and repair damaged cells. Astaxanthin has anti-inflammatory and anti-ageing properties. Prawns are rich in all these nutrients.
Low in Calories
During pregnancy, it is essential to gain healthy weight and get adequate nutrition. Prawns are low in calories and, thus, a healthier choice to add nutrition without consuming unnecessary fat.
Rich in Omega 3
This fatty acid is found abundantly in prawns. Studies have shown that it helps in developing the eyes and nerve connections in the foetus.
Should Prawns Be Avoided in Pregnancy?
As we just discussed, consuming prawns during pregnancy has several health benefits. However, it is still recommended that you check for the risks associated with consumption of prawns or any seafood with your doctor. If you are still unsure, start with small amounts and see how your body reacts to it. Your diet can then be changed accordingly. In any case, practice moderation and do not go overboard with any food. If your body accepts it, prawns can be very nutritious and healthy for both you and your baby.
Some pregnant women may face the risk of prawn allergy during pregnancy. Here are some risks associated with prawns during pregnancy and information on whether you need to be on your guard:
Cholesterol: Prawns are a rich source of cholesterol. If you have high cholesterol, prawns may not be good for you or for the health of your unborn baby.
Allergy: If you have shown allergic reactions to a similar group of food, it is advisable to keep away from prawns. They can cause reactions that include abdominal pains, itchiness, rashes, and inflammation.
Mercury poisoning: Water pollutants and increased levels of toxic chemicals can create health problems if you consume prawns sourced from polluted waters. Prawns can absorb the pollutants into their body. Seawater prawns may contain a high level of mercury that can adversely affect the development of the baby’s nervous system. Contaminated river or lake waters contain high levels of polychlorinated biphenyls and pose a health risk to you and your baby.
Infection: It is always recommended that you consume cooked prawns when pregnant. Raw or undercooked prawns are extremely harmful and associated with multiple health risks like blood poisoning, food poisoning, or other harmful infection to your baby.
Tips While Eating Prawns When Pregnant
Always buy prawns from reliable and trusted sources. Ensure that they are thick and glossy; do not buy discoloured prawns or ones with shrunken eyes.
Avoid raw seafood preparations like sushi during pregnancy. Dried prawns during pregnancy are fine if they are thoroughly cleaned and cooked.
If you don’t have an option of fresh prawn, opt for good quality frozen ones and defrost them before cooking.
Ensure that they are cleaned properly before cooking. You may cook them with or without the shell. Cooking with veins or deveining them is a personal preference.
Clean and cook them thoroughly. Signs of well-cooked prawns include a red shell and pearly white or opaque flesh. You can soak them in a bowl of lukewarm salted water for about 10 minutes and wash them well.
Avoid restaurant served seafood.
Steam or sauté them till they are completely cooked. Make sure that the meat is firm and bouncy.
As long as prawns are eaten in moderation during pregnancy and sourced from reliable sources, there are unlikely to be any complications. If you experience any signs of discomfort or an allergy, immediately consult your doctor.

5 Ways to Use That Sexy Lube – Outside the Bedroom!
Who could have thought that lubes could be put to uses outside the bedroom? Suddenly, lubes seem far more interesting than the gooey stuff you associate with sex (not that this isn't phenomenal in itself!). Here are some fun ways of using your lube that will leave you stumped.
We left you guessing, didn't we, about what lube could be used for other than sex? Well, there's nothing like investing some time in adding value to available resources, especially the ones that lubricate well. The different things lube can be used for if not sex are bizarre enough to confound you!
Genius Ideas for Your Lube Bottle
1. Keep Blisters and Rashes at Bay
We can imagine racks selling three-in-one body washes, conditioners, and shampoos, but lubes that are multi-purpose? Yes! Women who undergo intense physical activity may use their personal lubricants for not merely sex, but also for preventing sports bra rashes and chafing during runs. Whoa!
2. A Lip Balm with a Difference
Thinking of better ways of giving hubby a wet taste of what to expect as the evening unravels? You're lucky if you own lube that smells a bit like you in action; simply smear it on! You may end up getting more than you bargained for, we think.
3. Shut off The Creaks
If you're tired of creaking doors when you return home after a long day at work, then slather on some lube on the hinges. Say ‘goodbye’ to horror-movie like sounds and set your mood for more exciting things in life with your lube. So, if you've been thinking about the use of lube other than sex, then creaking doors and windows are your answer.
4. Slip off The Ring
Stop struggling with that ring that refuses to budge off! Simply dab a generous helping of lube on your finger, turn the ring around once or twice, and watch it slip off easily. However, do remember to wipe off the lube before putting on the ring again, or you'll soon be down on your fours looking for it instead of indulging in more exciting things!
5. Time to Get Creative
Having the urge to make cool decoupage trays or coasters, but too lazy to hit the craft store next door? Fret not, simply smear the coaster or tray with thin layers of lube and go about pasting the paper cut-outs. Besides being a pretty piece of creativity, this craft idea will for sure set the mood for some good fun in the evening. Lost? Just imagine placing your drink on a coaster that smells lightly of sex. Interesting, eh?
These are just some uses of lube other than sex. We are sure you can now think of several equally sexy others. After all, you have every right to be naughty every once in a while! Read more

Rogan Josh
Rogan Josh is a delicacy from Kashmir. It literally means ‘Red Lamb’ and derives its name from the redness of the dish, thanks to the Kashmiri chillies used in the recipe. The dish is hands down mouthwatering and tastes best with naan or steamed rice. Enjoy with a dash of lemon juice.
Serves
Preparation Time
Cooking Time
4 People
10-15 Minutes
40-45 Minutes
Ingredients
1 kg lamb chopped into medium size pieces
4 tbsp oil
1/2 cup curd
4 whole cloves
1/2 inch cinnamon stick
2 bay leaves
3 pods black cardamom
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp sugar
1 tbsp Kashmiri chili powder (available in stores)
a pinch of turmeric powder
1 tbsp dried ginger powder
1 tbsp fennel powder
Salt to taste
a pinch of asafoetida
Method
Step 1
When buying the lamb, choose the shank or the shoulder part for best results. A kilo of lamb should yield about 8 to 9 pieces.
Step 2
Wash the meat and place it in a colander for all the water to drain out. Use a clean dry cloth and pat the moisture out.
Step 3
Let the meat marinate in a bowl of curd for at least 15 minutes.
Step 4
Now in a large pan. Heat oil and fry the marinade and the meat together. Add bay leaves, cloves, cinnamon, coarsely ground cardamom and black pepper. Stir fry the meat.
Step 5
It is important that you fry the meat till the oil and curd separate into two layers.
Step 6
Now, add Kashmiri red chilli powder, salt, sugar, turmeric powder and constantly stir for about a minute.
Step 7
Add water, ginger powder and fennel powder. The fennel will thicken the curry.
Step 8
Stir well and let simmer on low heat for about 30 to 45 minutes till the meat is cooked well and the gravy is thick and red.
Step 9
The cooking time depends upon how tender the meat is. Enjoy hot with rice.

How I succeed in weight gain mission of my 1 year old
Hello happy mommies out there,
Being mother is the best gift comes with roller coasters of emotions and well blended mixture of happiness, confusion, worries, enthusiasm and what not when you are first time mother of course. My son's birth weight was 3.75 kg which was really good number and first 3 months it was gradually increasing 1kg per month and I was very happy to see his chubby chicks and wrestlers body. But by the first birthday it was around 7kg.In between my whole family was suffered with covid.so I tried to be calm and planned customized diet chart for him after reading lots of articles and watching recipes for weight gain but I don't get satisfactory results.I was changing the plans and schedules and finally his weight started gaining. So I thought if I could help other moms like me.The things I am sharing here was suited to my baby as he dint have any allergy issue. But I request you before trying any new ingredient to your child for the first time check if that is suitable for your child or not.
So here are some tips which worked for my baby.
1.Beat the clock:
Set the fixed routine for breakfast, meals, and sleep.By the age of 1 you know your child's best routine so that he get plenty of rest and enough time to play.Fix the time interval between his feeding and follow it strictly.
2.Complete Breakfast:
I observed full breakfast making my child more energetic and playful and happy.I tried oats porridge, oats mungdal rice dosa, rava upma, poha etc but added one or two dates and fruit or milk(either one of two)to complete breakfast. Also I make sure to add dry fruits powder in sweet dishes always with plenty of HOMEMADE ghee.
3.All is Well:
I planned his dinner and lunch in a way that he should get grains, veggies, protein rich food in both. For instance,if lunch is roti with green sabji with salad then dinner should have dal or egg or meat as protein source. All snacks breakfast and meals together must be well balanced.
4.Activate the hunger:
Toddlers are infinite source of energy. You must be amazed how your lil one is playing nonstop without tiring but that's what childhood is all about.I observe more baby is active more he/she needs food.Try to make some time for outdoor play everyday or atleast 4 times a week.If not possible there are many activities you can play with your child indoor to keep them active. It will boost their hunger and no extra efforts needed to feed your baby.
5.Variation is the KEY:
If your child started tantrums while eating may be because of nausea. With same ingredients you can try different recipes like egg can be given as boiled or bhurji or omelette. Rava can be given as porridge or upma or dosa etc.
I hope these points will guide you to make your own diet plan for baby.I will be happy to know if you see the difference so please share it with me.
Have a great day ahead Read more
