What's the Christmas Story, Mamma?
Children are most excited during Christmas, as it is the season of gifts, quality time with friends and family, yummy delicacies, and of course, Santa Claus! While all this merriment is justified, it's also important for your child to understand the essence of the festival. Wondering what Christmas story for kids would be apt to narrate this season? The one with the birth of Jesus Christ, of course!
The year is nearly over, and your children are all geared up to celebrate Christmas, both at school and at home. In the midst of this fun, it's important to remind your kids about the story of the 25th of December. The story of the birth of Jesus Christ is one of the best Christmas stories for children - you can start the festivities with this story, and set the festive mood!
What Is the Story of Christmas: How to Tell It to Your Kids
Long ago, in a place called Nazareth, lived a woman named Mary. She was a hardworking woman who was always good to others. She was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph, who was also good at heart. One day, God sent an angel to Mary, by the name of Gabriel. The angel told her that God was sending a holy spirit to Earth to help people - that soul would be born as Mary's son, and she would name him Jesus. Mary was worried about how this was possible since she wasn't married, but the angel assured her that it would be a miracle from God. The angel also told her that her cousin, Elizabeth, who had no children, would also give birth to a baby called John, who would prepare the way for Jesus' birth.
On hearing this, Mary consented to God's will. She went to meet Elizabeth and returned after three months. By then, she was pregnant. This worried Joseph, who wondered if he should call off the wedding. But one night, while he was asleep, an angel visited him and told him about God's will, and urged him to marry Mary. Joseph woke up the next morning and decided that he would make Mary his wife.
After the wedding, Joseph and Mary made a trip to Bethlehem, the place where Joseph's family came from. However, when they reached there, they could not find a place to stay as the village was crowded. So, they decided to stay in a barn where animals lived. It was there that Mary gave birth to the Son of God, Jesus Christ.
The birth of Jesus was signified by a bright star in the sky. Wise men from different parts of the world understood the significance of this star and followed it to reach Bethlehem. They brought along gifts for the baby and his parents. In other parts of Bethlehem, where shepherds were grazing their sheep, angels appeared to give them the good news. They sang and made merry to welcome the Holy Spirit to earth.
Since then, this day has been celebrated as Christmas. People go to church at midnight to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. They exchange gifts, sing carols, and enjoy themselves.
Once you've narrated the story of Jesus' birth to your children, you can put on an animated movie about Jesus Christ to help them understand the significance of his birth. The season is all about warmth and joy, so let your children enjoy this day to the fullest. Read more

11 Weeks Pregnant: What To Expect
By this time, your baby and your body have both undergone some changes. While your baby has grown into a fetus from an embryo and formed all the workings of a human being, your body has seen changes such as a rounder structure, firmer uterus, rounder and more sensitive breasts etc. Let’s progress to the next week of your pregnancy, the 11th week and explore the new excitable possibilities in your pregnancy.

Your Baby's Growth During Pregnancy - Week 11
The 11th week is as fateful as the 9th and 10th week, as your baby looks more like a functional human being. For one, the facial bones of your baby are formed and hardening. The skin, however, is still transparent. Your baby is already starting to wiggle but not enough for you to realize, yet.
You should be able to count 20 fingers and toes by now, seeing that your baby has developed arms and legs that have separated. More importantly, your baby has learnt how to swallow and is of course surrounded by amniotic fluid. The hair follicles are also in place as are nipples, tongue and a nose with nasal passages.
What Is The Baby Size
The baby is as big as a lemon or a fig. So, you can expect to see a 11 weeks pregnant baby size of 1-2 inches long. Since the body of your baby is also strengthening, the torso has also lengthened. Your baby weighs around 7 or 8 grams at week 11. The most interesting part is that your baby’s head takes up most of the formation, with a 1:1 proportion with the body.
Common Body Changes
It’s safe to say that pregnancy changes life, and your body will agree that it will never be the same again. As body changes during pregnancy are inevitable, let’s see what week 11 of your pregnancy holds:
Though still hard to tell, your pregnant body should have started showing the tell-tale signs of a bigger bump than during week 10.
For ladies who like curves, your body during pregnancy will certainly please you, with rounder features.
For the lucky ones, you may have the pregnancy glow that is usually much coveted. However, some women may end up with some pimples or rashes due to the increased production of hormones.
You have most certainly gained weight and also appear bloated.
Symptoms Of Pregnancy At Week 11
Whether you are clearly showing a baby bump or not, and whether you have had any other changes in your body or not, you will most certainly show the following symptoms during the 11th week of your pregnancy. Examine the list below to compare the symptoms with what you are experiencing.
Leg cramps: This is probably one of the biggest events of the 11th week of your pregnancy. These cramps will manifest during the day, especially if you continue with your usual working schedule. However, be prepared for some interruptions while you sleep as painfully tight leg-muscles can disturb your sleep.
Linea Nigra: This symptom is exclusive of the 11th week of pregnancy. This symptom will manifest as a dark line right down the centre of your belly. To put you to ease, this is common and not permanent. Hormonal changes generally attribute to linea nigra.
Apart from the fresh symptoms stated above, the following symptoms from the last few weeks of your pregnancy will continue to manifest.
Fatigue: No surprises there. As your baby grows, your body will also feel heavier and seek rest.
Gas and Bloating: As you have seen in the past couple of weeks, your tummy will certainly continue to give you troubles as progesterone tends to slow down digestion.
Morning sickness and nausea: A few lucky ones might have this under control, but for most continue trouble from both till you finish the first trimester.
Vaginal discharge: While your sex life is bound to get better if you decide to indulge, invest in some pantyliners as the discharge will continue to increase as the pregnancy progresses.
Mood swings: Your mood may change faster than traffic lights, and it’s best if you stay away from crowds as stress makes it worse.
Belly At 11 Weeks Of Pregnancy
Most ladies may still be able to dismiss your pregnancy as gas or bloating. Nevertheless, your baby bump must already start to show, at least a little bit. For women who are pregnant for the first time, your belly may not appear to be different. For women who have been pregnant before, your tummy will likely hint at pregnancy.
Of course, it’s the opposite if you are on the slimmer or heavier side of the weighing scales. For heavier women, it might not seem different at all. For thin women, you might show a bit, especially if you have gained some weight.
11 Weeks Ultrasound
An ultrasound scheduled in the 11th week will show you how your baby is getting along inside your belly. The movements of your little baby will be graceful and fluid. Besides that, your baby’s skin is steadily going to become opaque as opposed to transparent. At week 11 though, it will remain transparent.
What To Eat?
One of the most important factors in this period is the concern about 11th week pregnancy food. Read on to find what you must put on your plate in this period;
Food rich in calcium: Since your baby’s bones have started forming, it’s important that you up the intake of calcium. Milk and milk products should be on top of your list.
Proteins: Lean meat and fish with a smattering of red meat is advised. Proteins help in the formation of bones and body-mass
Pulses and beans: These contain easily-digestible proteins and several vitamins
Seeds, sesame and sunflower: These are rich in vitamins and nutritious oils
Nuts, almonds and cashew nuts: Packet with protein and vitamins, nuts are a great addition to your diet
Spinach: Rich in iron and packed with flavour, spinach is a superfood you are sure to like
Yogurt: A delicious source of calcium, yoghurt is a probiotic which will ensure the balance of good bacteria in your gut
Fruits and leafy vegetables: Rich in vitamins and minerals, fruits and leafy vegetables ensure all-round development.
Tips & Care
Pregnancy can be challenging and quite frankly, will take a toll on you. Nevertheless, keeping yourself and your baby safe and healthy should be of your utmost concern.
Dos
Drink plenty of water to remain hydrated as well as curb leg cramps.
Plan a small vacation or a babymoon to relax yourself.
Be cheerful and read books on parenting to prepare yourself for parenthood.
Keep your doctor on speed dial so that they can always be contacted quickly.
Don'ts
Take any medication without consulting your doctor as it could affect you or your baby’s health adversely.
Suppress your urine because frequent urination is a part of week 11 of pregnancy.
Indulge too much in junk food as your digestive process is already slowed down due to progesterone.
What You Need To Shop
Being pregnant does not mean you cannot be stylish. Invest in good bras that stretch. You can also buy nursing bras at this stage that will come in handy later. Buy books on parenting that will give you information. Invest in maternity clothes and stretchy pants, preferably in cotton. Stock up on the vitamins and health supplements that your doctor advises. Invest in comfortable shoes that will help with leg cramps and swelling. Do buy good oral care products that can help keep oral problems at bay.
Conclusion
While your baby bump is barely discernible, there are a lot of bodily changes you will have to deal with because of the hormones being produced by your body. The good news is that healthy diet and comfortable clothes can go a long way in bringing comfort.

Lump in Breast during Breastfeeding
A lump in the breast is quite common in nursing mothers but it should not be ignored in any case. After a few days of giving birth to your little baby, your breasts may feel hard as they are engorged with breastmilk. You may also feel lumps in your breasts, but these are mostly plugged milk ducts, which will go in a few days. However, if a lump does not go away in a week or two, you will need to see a doctor. There are many possible reasons for getting a lump in the breast and of course, it will worry you, but if it is diagnosed at the right time, your life will be saved.
Is a Lump in Breast Normal while Breastfeeding?
As mentioned above, a lump in the breast is quite normal when you are nursing. It may be caused due to different reasons which can be treated or require no treatment at all. However, if you have a lump in your breast and it does not pain then it could be a sign of cancer. Therefore, if your symptoms are that of mastitis and they persist for more than 3 days, consulting a doctor to root it out is ideal.
Types of Lumps in the Breast
Listed below are some of the types of breast lumps.
1. Plugged Ducts
If the milk gets blocked in one area of the breast, then you may have plugged milk ducts. It may be caused due to milk stasis (milk stays in the ducts) or because of improper latching due to incorrect feeding position. Wearing a tight bra or tight clothes can also cause plugged ducts.
2. Engorged Breasts
At some point, most mothers may feel painful lumps in the breasts. This may be because of breast engorgement. It may lead to hard and swollen breasts and the engorged breasts may develop lumps. These lumps ease out once the milk is drained out manually or by a pump. This occurs when the baby is unable to suckle properly and as a result, the milk does not come.
3. Mastitis
Mastitis is basically a lump or swelling in the breast accompanied by pain, redness, and tenderness. It is caused when a plugged duct goes untreated and the milk builds up behind the ducts and causes inflammation due to infection. It is usually accompanied by a fever.
4. Breast Abscess
An abscess is formed due to pus in the breast. It usually occurs due to untreated or badly treated mastitis. It is necessary to drain out an abscess either by a needle or catheter aspiration along with antibiotics or it can lead to extreme pain and fever.
5. Galactoceles (Lacteal cyst or Milk cyst)
It is a cyst located near the mammary gland which retains milk or milk substance due to obstruction in the milk ducts. Usually, it does not cause any infection and goes away on its own once the mother stops nursing.
6. Fibroadenoma
It is a benign breast tumour and is more common in females between the ages of 15 and 30. It is a tumour of the gland and fibrous tissues. Unlike some breast lumps which come and go according to the monthly cycle, fibroadenoma does not disappear after the cycle. It rarely occurs in women in their postmenopausal stage.
7. Lipomas
Lipomas are fatty lumps that grow slowly in breasts or any other region. They do not grow more than 2 cms in diameter. They are round or oval in shape, rubbery to feel, and may move easily with a slight pressure. Such lumps can be more than one in number at one place.
8. Intraductal Papillomas
Intraductal papillomas are non-cancerous growth in the milk ducts of the breast. A solitary intraductal papilloma is a single tumour that grows in the large milk duct near the nipple. Some women have more than one and some may even experience bloody discharge from the growths.
9. Fat Necrosis
These lumps are a result of an injury to the fatty tissues in the breasts and require treatment if the condition persists for a long time. However, it is not dangerous and can be cured with the right treatment.
10. Breast Cancer
It is usually a hard or a firm lump usually causing no pain. It can originate either in the nipple or in the breast. However, it usually originates in the upper outer quadrant. Some large malignant tumours may compress the other parts of the breast or grow through the skin and can be very painful.
Tips to Follow If You Find a Breast Lump
It is important for women to self-examine their breasts for any lump, and if they find any, follow these tips to treat it as much as possible:
If you are a nursing mother, the lump could be due to engorgement or plugged ducts. To treat it, you can take a warm bath or opt for a warm compress, with a towel dipped in warm water to unclog the lump just before nursing.
After a warm bath or compress, massage the area of the lump and express the milk with your hands or pump it out.
Nurse your baby frequently as this will unclog your milk ducts and drain out the milk.
Take painkillers like Ibuprofen if you experience pain in the lump.
Stay hydrated; drink lots of water, juices, and soups, especially if you have a temperature.
Many times, lumps may occur due to tight bras. Therefore, wear a bra which provides good support but is not too tight. Also, avoid wearing underwire bras as they put pressure on the milk ducts.
If the lump does not subside in 3-4 days; if you see pus and blood in the milk; if there is discharge from the nipple, see a doctor at earliest.
Get all the right tests done to rule out the malignancy of the lump.
Figure out if the lump is a cyst or a tumour.
In case it is a cyst, you do not require further investigation and in case it is a tumour, have an autopsy done to find out whether it is benign or malignant.
In case you learn it to be cancerous, do a bit of research to educate yourself on the treatment process. Talk to various people to know about the best doctor who could take your case.
When you visit an oncologist, feel free to ask all the questions you have.
The last and the most important of all, relax and stay positive.
How Is a Breast Lump Diagnosed in Breastfeeding Mothers?
Listed below are the tests which are performed to diagnose lumps in the breast in breastfeeding mothers:
1. X-Ray
Doctors suggest an X-Ray to see through the breast tissue and other tissues like bones, lungs, etc., for any abnormality.
2. Ultrasound and CT Scan
A computed tomography scan (CT scan) is done to see if it is cancerous growth and to check whether cancer has moved to the chest walls or to other parts of the body.
3. Mammograms
It is the most effective test to detect breast cancer. This test can detect cancer even before the symptoms appear. A mammogram is done to check whether the breast lump is benign or cancerous.
4. MRI
The test tells you whether the treatment is working on you or not by showing the progress of a tumour.
5. Fine Needle Aspiration
If earlier tests indicate breast cancer, then the doctor may ask for fine needle aspiration biopsy in which some fluid is taken out from the affected area to look for cancer cells.
6. Stereotactic Core Biopsy
It is an alternative method of surgical biopsy and a less intrusive way to get the tissues required to detect cancer.
7. Surgical Biopsy
A surgical biopsy is done when the result of a needle biopsy is not clear. Under local anaesthesia, a part of the lump or the entire lump is removed through a small opening.
Treatment for Breast Lumps while Breastfeeding
Not all breast lumps need treatment. Benign lumps like fibroadenoma do not need any remedy and cause no harm. Lumps caused due to injuries also subside when given time to heal.
Treatment options for lumps in the breast include:
1. Fine Needle Draining
Fine needle draining is a simple procedure and does not take much time. If there is an abscess or a cyst it will be drained with a fine needle.
2. Antibiotics
Lumps caused due to breast infections can be treated using antibiotics.
3. Lumpectomy
This is a treatment procedure to remove lumps surgically when they are cancerous.
4. Mastectomy
Mastectomy is performed in order to remove the cancerous breast tissue as a way to prevent breast cancer.
5. Chemotherapy
If the lump has been diagnosed as cancerous, then the doctor may suggest chemotherapy for the same. Depending on the stage of cancer, your doctor will suggest if you should go for chemotherapy or not.
6. Radiation
If the lump is cancerous, it can also be treated with radiation therapy where the patient has to undergo doses of radiation in accordance with the stage of cancer.
How to Prevent Lumps in Breasts while Nursing
Here are some ways to prevent lumps in the breast:
Try to breastfeed your baby at regular intervals.
Always clean your nipples and areola with the help of cotton dipped in warm water.
Massage your breasts in a circular motion to prevent the milk to accumulate in one place.
Lumps in the breast while breastfeeding can be due to a number of reasons and not just breast cancer. Therefore, it is imperative to educate people that there is nothing to fear as soon as a person comes across a lump in her breast.

From an Exhausted Woman to My Baby's Mother - the Journey of Most Women
Excuse me if I go overboard with my emotions. Here, I am sharing a few of my hands-on experiences and the ups and downs of my journey from being a tired, exhausted woman to the mother that I had dreamt of being.
My baby's birth changed my life forever. Before you step into motherhood, it does take a toll on you physically, mentally and emotionally from tip to toe. You are used to an independent life and suddenly you have someone so little, who is totally dependent on you for staying alive.
As my son started growing in my belly, my affection for him kept growing day by day, but from the very moment I first saw him resting on my chest in that labour room, I knew I would love him to the moon and back, and that I would do anything and everything for him. However, this was a filmy feeling that struck my mind in those initial moments of becoming a first-time mother. The reality was a little different than my fancy motherhood thoughts, and it did hit me hard to not know what I was getting myself and my baby into. In fact, all that I had hoped to avoid by having a healthy pregnancy, was lying ahead of me and I was totally unprepared.
Before I begin, let me stress that it does take huge courage to accept something the way I am going to, in a world where presumably becoming a mother suddenly makes you a milk-producing goddess who should neither expect autonomy nor sanity. Let alone achieving your desires, people won't even accept you having any, as if you were non-existent before this. Many a time, your spouse also might not understand the need to make sure that you, the mother, should feel good first, for you to be able to take care of the baby well. During such times, making a mother feel good about herself is all the more important and the sole responsibly of the father.
Back to myself, I had a normal delivery and that had left me with the trauma of labour, a few internal and outer stitches, and a lot of pain to recover from. Firstly, I didn't know normal delivery included so much pain. So, it hit me hard to realize that I was expected to stay upright the whole night, feeding and taking care of a demanding baby, my physical injuries hampering my mental state. As a new mom, when you yourself are required to recover from the stress of having had a vaginal delivery, you don't have the liberty to take rest; yet again adding to a frustrated mental state.
There is a term called postpartum depression that people, especially those who take pleasure in questioning women in such situations, should know about. The family and especially the spouse needs to be well aware, ready, and empathetic enough to handle this. Sadly, this is not the case in Indian households. The worst and most disturbing thing to say to your wife would be, "You are not the only woman who has become a mother". Wait a second, she is doing it for the first time, and you cannot expect her to be a wonderful mother immediately! Give her love, LISTEN to her before judging her intentions. She is not asking for your attention; rather she is asking for your help. So, don't judge her and HELP HER. Be there for her. PERIOD.
So again, coming back to myself, the people around me were celebrating and I was coping up with this new version of myself. These people told me that it shall pass, you will learn to do it, it's okay, stay strong and some even told me that it happens with everybody and to not make a big deal of it. Mostly, I gave them a deaf ear as I thought that they really don't care about knowing my real struggles. Other times, I wanted to scream loudly and cry at those comments. I felt helpless most of the time, and I knew no one understood my pain to address it in a way that could have alleviated a bit of it. Eras have changed, women as individuals have changed but few people will never learn to respect a woman the way such sensitive times call for. They will only term it as the 'woman needs attention'. Luckily, I had my mother to my rescue. Sad but true, that she was the only person who did not judge me for being cranky and irritated.
In the very first month, the baby cannot see much and would need his mother most of the times. That meant it was a 24-hour job. If you have no experience, imagine a living being stuck to your breasts 24x7, awake or sleeping. While I was recovering from my injuries, the trauma of the labour and bodily changes of the last 9 months & those severe backaches, my baby needed me all the time. Things like comfort suckling, the time taken to set up milk supply, babies being unaware of day-night differences, crying for no reason(colic), tear ducts, baby colds, burping, baby's gas and what not, were entirely new to me. My son was born in early full-term so he was relatively tall but very lean, and thus, required extra care and attention. My mother took care of my baby's laundry (a very big task) and the rest of the household chores. All I was doing was feeding my baby and waiting for him to sleep so that I could use the bathroom.
In the first month, I barely slept. Barely showering, eating; in fact, there was barely any time to go to the toilet without having to rush back to calm my crying son. I felt like a zombie, like a mobile charger being used to charge my baby, and on top of that, at times, people will just sit and stare at me until I finish my business and then jump to take my baby to play with. Till date, I hate it when I have to do it. It hurts and disturbs me.
We celebrated his completion of the first month and I was looking forward to new developmental changes in my baby. But I had no idea that in the second month and onwards, I would be so interested in my baby's bowel movements. His poor bowel movements due to his developing digestive system led to the formation of gas and, in turn, sleepless nights for both of us. If he slept in my arms keeping him down would awaken him so I kept holding him for hours so that he could catch a night of sleep and my nipples could catch a break. Before I could even realise that I should sleep too, the baby was awake for the next feed or for peeing or pooping, thus making him eventually hungry for another feed.
This was even tougher than the first month, to be honest. Seeing your little one grunt and turn red due to gas is disturbing. This whole thing continued until the end of 2.5 months and this also included multiple doctor visits, my baby's vaccinations, my recovering body and people planning/suggesting things around the baby without my consent. Again, the last one is the worst.
Then, everything changed.
Suddenly my baby started sleeping at night and at times, 4 hours at a stretch; not every night but once or twice in a week. I felt so amazing the very next day that I wanted to finish so many things around the house. I could laugh and avoid staying inside my room for the whole day. The more I came out, the more I felt like being alive. As time passed, more such days came by and all of a sudden I felt less distressed. I was playing with my baby. I was singing lullabies to him, not just to make him fall asleep but just to see his reactions. My baby started recognizing me from a distance and would go back to sleep without crying.
And these days are continuing. Still, I feed my baby for effectively 10-11 hours in 24 hours, forget the days which show the symptoms of a growth spurt, but the change in his sleep patterns benefited my mental health in a big way. I had recovered physically by this time, and the baby having developed his sight helped a lot. I play more and more with my baby and we spend less time figuring out new issues. One fine day, as I was sitting outside enjoying the beautiful weather, it occurred to me how much things had changed overnight. I felt proud of having raised my child so far, in spite of all the odds.
The best advice for new mothers from my end would be to hang in there. It shall pass soon. There is no way you can escape the stress, but click a lot of pics in the meantime. You should not regret taking for granted any of baby's memorable moments while you were stressed. When the baby starts recognizing you and smiles back at you, I bet you will forget all the pains you've felt. You might feel like a human pacifier at times but soon those moments will set a base for the bond that you will cherish for the lifetime with your baby. There will be times ahead when the baby doesn't ask for a feed for longer hours and you would pick the baby and nurse, not because you have engorged breasts but because you want to sit alone with your bub a little while. The lovely thing is that a baby would never say no to your lap.
My baby is nearing 4 months now and he has started to laugh. Anything that's worth never comes easy. His laughter is the best medicine possible to my soul. I feel more confident and accomplished. And I know in coming years, there is a lot more growing up to happen. I will grow up as a better human being as my son grows up too.

A. Yes you are right sometimes a woman’s are really light but if in 24 hours you haven’t even felt one time that Baby is moving or any of the so it’s better to get an ultrasound done one time you still have time to visit your doctor if you feel any movement it is all good because if you do not feel the movement within maths 24 hours it’s best to get a check with your doctor
