5 Fun Jumping Games for Preschoolers
Kids are filled with energy and love to jump around and play. While this certainly keeps them engaged, it also adds to the development of their gross motor skills! When you add games to the mix, the fun learning levels for the children increase manifold!
Here are some games you can try the next time your kids want to jump around the house!
1. Lilly Pads Jumping Game
The Lilly Pads jumping game can be played in groups as well as individually. Choose large objects such as place mats, hula hoops, or flat cardboard boxes, as Lilly pads. Place about eight Lilly pads on the ground in such a way that each Lilly pad should be placed one foot apart. Lilly pads are known to hold anyone on it safely above the river. Let your preschoolers jump from one Lilly pad to the next by taking turns in order, one at a time while play-pretending the Lilly pads are in water. The kid who misses jumping on to the Lilly pad and touches the ground outside the Lilly Pad is out or must start all over again.
2. Jump Rope Relay
In this game, gather some preschoolers and divide them into five to six groups. Provide each group of kids with one jump rope. Make all groups stand in a horizontal line with a specific distance of about 4-5 feet between two groups. Place the jump rope at about the distance of 30 feet in front of each group. Once you say ‘Start’, the first player of each group should run towards the jump rope, get it, do seven jumps, and return to their group. Then the second should do the same. Likewise, all players of the group should follow the jumping pattern. Whichever group finishes the first is the winner.
3. Water Splash Jump Rope
The ‘Water Splash Jump Rope’ game helps promote balanced jumping skills in your kids. To play this game, make a group of preschoolers and provide each kid one plastic cup filled full with water. Two grownups need to twirl a long jump rope and the preschoolers should attempt three consecutive jumps one by one, by holding the plastic cup full of water in their hands. While jumping, your preschoolers should try to maintain balance to not to let the water in the cup spill out. The kid having the most water left in his plastic cup is the winner.
4. Poison Balls on Trampoline Game
Introducing your preschoolers to trampoline games is a great way to hone their jumping skills. Place some balls on a trampoline. Tell preschoolers to treat balls as poison and jump on the trampoline by avoiding the balls. The balls will roll around as your kids jump on the trampoline. If any kid touches a ball on the trampoline while jumping, he is out. The preschooler who continues to jump without touching the balls and remains the last on the trampoline is the winner.
5. Jumping Game with Soft Ball
In this game, provide one small, soft ball to each preschooler. Tell all kids to hold the ball between their legs, such that it doesn’t fall down, and hop from one marked end on the ground to the other marked end to pass the ball to their team member present at the other end. If the ball held between the legs falls, that preschooler is out. Read more

Baby With THREE Biological Parents Shocks The World!
A mother wants nothing but her baby's safety and health. From the moment you find out you have conceived, you become extra cautious about your health and wellness as your baby's health also depends on it. But what if there is something within you that stops your baby from being born healthy - or even alive? This mother from Jordan had already lost two babies to a genetic disease. She did not want to lose her third. What she decided to do to bring her baby into the world will shock you beyond belief! Three's a crowd? Not in the case of baby Abrahim Hassan who was born 5 months ago to THREE BIOLOGICAL parents!
Ibtisam Shaban, a woman from Jordan, carried the deadly genes of Leigh Syndrome. This is a rare syndrome that affects the central nervous system and can be fatal for young children. This is the disease that already caused death in her first two babies. There was no way she was letting Leigh Syndrome claim her third! But what could she do to battle this genetic problem that had left even the doctors helpless? She didn't want it to mean that she would never be able to become a mother and experience the joy of bringing up kids...
The frantic but determined mother contacted her doctor John Zhang to understand if there was any way she could give birth to a healthy baby. Her only hope was that her baby should be born without any traces of her deadly disease. And there was one thing that could be done to make this happen. Giving a nod to the revolutionary “three parent technique”.
What exactly is the three parent technique?
This technique is a medical revolution which involves implanting the nucleus from one of the mother's eggs into a donor's egg. The donor's egg had to have its nucleus removed. This egg was now a mix between the donor's egg and mommy Shaban's egg. Finally, it was fertilized by Shaban's own husband, thus making it a “three-parent” embryo! This ground-breaking solution ensured that the couple's religious beliefs were adhered to as well – no destroying of any embryo and the guarantee that the baby would not inherit the fatal gene.
The result was wondrous – a perfectly healthy baby Abrahim was born nine months later! The doctors waited five months to declare that the baby showed no traces of his mother's deadly gene, however, they will still be keeping a close watch on him.
Watch: Understand the three parent technique better with the following video:

Well, a healthy baby was born all right, but why were some experts still so upset?
The procedure, though successful, has evoked a lot of strong emotion - both individual and medical. Several experts have criticized this procedure, deeming it unethical, unwise and immoral. While they feel it was fortunate that the baby was born healthy, there is no organized data in place that can be used in the future for similar incidents. The technique, it seems, is quite prone to failure as the chances of the mutated gene multiplying into a full-blown disease are quite high! This means Abrahim can be a guinea-pig for at least the first few years of his life!
That said, perhaps we're missing the point. Should we be glorifying a premature-experiment that lucked out? Or should we be concerned that its success might catapult an under-studied theory into the category of “tried and tested”, much before its meant to? Should the “three-parent technique” be used so liberally before the breaching of moral and ethical norms is first addressed? Assisted Birthing Techniques have always brought out a certain level of criticism. Our very own Tusshar Kapoor's firm stand on single parenting through IVF methods and surrogacy brought on a whirlwind of questions and accusations filled with distaste. That didn't stop him from fathering a beautiful baby boy.
How long is it going to be till we understand that such assisted birthing is actually a blessing to the scores of people who yearn for the fulfillment of being a parent? This may be an experiment now but it is an experiment that has brought much delight to the couple. We pray that Abrahim has a healthy life ahead and his story inspires many more medical professionals to unravel the world of childbirth complications. Read more

Have You Tried 'Toy Rotation' Yet? Try This Trick for a Tantrum-free Playtime!
Dads and Moms out there, do you find yourself staring at a bin full of toys, wondering why your child isn't interested in playing with any of them?
There's a simple explanation to it. Your child is most probably overwhelmed with all the choices. There is so much to choose from, that it is almost boring to sort through, and pick one from many. That is why your child would rather find something new and interesting to play with, than spend time sorting and picking.
This mindset is, in fact, very inherent to us humans. Whenever we are faced with an overwhelming choice, we call it quits or push it to the back burner. This is just how we operate. So, is all hope lost? Not at all!
Try this little trick called 'toy rotation'. As the name suggests, it involves introducing toys in small batches to your toddler. The result, he or she will have fewer options to choose from, and will find it easy to pick a favourite. Once the batch that is out becomes old news and no longer appealing, get the next batch out. The batch that goes back in can be reintroduced down the line and, you will be surprised to see the reception it gets!
So, how does toy rotation benefit families? Let's find out.
1. Less clutter to deal with
2. Easier and happier clean up routines
3. Very economical
4. Teaches the concept of reusing
5. Instils ownership in kids
6. Makes them responsible for taking care of their own toys
The best way to approach this concept is early on in childhood or during occasions like birthdays, when your child receives gifts in large numbers. Just put some of the toys away and bring them out, gradually. Doing so, will make sure boredom never creeps into your child's playtime.
When your child grows up a little, you can do it together and explain, along the way, why you're doing it.
So, get sorting! Try 'Toy Rotation' today!
