No doubt, you aren't the only parent trying to come up with interesting facts about glaciers for their children to read. When we say that we enjoy telling stories about hiking, skiing, or simply spending as much time outside as possible, we mean precisely that: we enjoy telling stories about spending as much time outside as possible. When it comes to visiting fascinating glaciers on the planet, one thing we've learned is that there's a lot more to them than meets the eye.
Keep reading to get the know-how on these fascinating nature's creations concerning what do glaciers mean, and what do glaciers look like, and other related facts that you may not have known!
What Are Glaciers?
A common question among kids is: what are glaciers made of? To answer this, glaciers are referred to as 'ice rivers' in certain circles. The term 'glacier' comes from the French word glace (glah-SAY). These are a frozen mass of very thick ice that moves due to the weight of the surrounding air slowly moving over the landscape.
Alpine ice sheets and glaciers are the two kinds of ice found in the mountains. Alpine glaciers form on mountain summits and flow down valleys to the sea. During many years, when the quantity of ice exceeds the rate of natural ablation, a glacier is formed.
How do They Form?
Glaciation begins when snow accumulates quicker than it melts. Snow begins to shrink or tighten up shortly after it has fallen. Diamonds start as delicate, frothy crystals and gradually turn into complex, spherical ice pieces. Glacial firnification is a word that refers to the process through which snow penetrates the glacier and forms new ice. Numerous glaciers, particularly in the arctic region, may be situated in areas susceptible to Global Warming. The Earth's surface temperature increases due to global warming, enabling water to be stored as ice for extended periods. Glaciers may retreat as a consequence of this ice and other climatic factors such as wind.
Where Are Glaciers Found?
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, the bulk of the world's glaciers are situated in Antarctica and Greenland, but glaciers may be found on virtually every continent, including Africa. Pakistan has a more significant number of glaciers than almost any other nation in the world. Additionally, glaciers may be found in Antarctica, Argentina, Chile, Canada, Alaska, Greenland, and Iceland, to mention a few. Alpine glaciers are found worldwide but are most common in the Andes, Himalayan ranges, Rocky Highlands, Caucasus, Scandinavian highlands, and the Alps.
Types of Glaciers
These 'ice bulldozers' are mainly classified into two types of glaciers and many sub-types according to their physical features, geographic location, and source. The two main types of glaciers are known as continental glaciers and alpine glaciers. Let's check out how many glaciers are there in detail:
1. Continental Glaciers
These are ice sheets and ice caps that cover large expanses of land.
2. Alpine Glaciers
These are those that flow down a valley and into another valley below. Outlets are valley glaciers that flow out onto the surrounding landscape from ice sheets and ice caps.
3. Mountains Glaciers
They form in high alpine areas and often flow from icefields that span several summits or even an entire mountain range.
4. Valley Glaciers
These glaciers wind their way across valleys and resemble enormous ice tongues. Typically, they are formed by mountain glaciers or icefields. Valley glaciers may be very lengthy, extending far below the snow line and even reaching the sea.
5. Sea Glaciers
These are glaciers that have flowed to the sea in the Tidewater Glaciers Valley. Each year, a large number of tiny icebergs calve from tidewater glaciers.
6. Lamplugh Glacier
Lamplugh Glacier, a tidewater glacier approaching the end of its trip, is located in Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska's Glacier Bay area.
7. Suspended Glaciers
When a primary valley glacier system retreats and thins, branch glaciers may be left in smaller valleys, resulting in icebergs. They are referred to as 'hanging glaciers.'
8. Cirque Glaciers
Cirque glaciers are so named because they reside in bowl-like hollows called cirques by scientists. They are often found high on mountain slopes and have a wider breadth than length.
9. Ice Glaciers
Ice is a type of meltwater accumulated on the Earth's surface through rivers and melts during the summertime. It is determined by the climate, the thickness of the ice, and the amount of snow accumulated on the ground that the ice flow downhill moves at a variable speed.
10. Ice Shelves Glaciers
An ice shelf is formed when ice sheets cross the ocean and float on the water's surface. These strata may be as thin as a few hundred meters thick or as thick as a kilometer. Ice shelves mainly surround Antarctica's landmass.
Do Glaciers Move?
A glacier's displacement or movement is caused by various factors, including ice deformation and activity at the glacial substrate. A glacier may flow up slopes beneath an ice sheet if the ice's surface remains oriented downward, indicating that the glacier is still oriented downward. Ice flows from bowl-like cirques and over-deepening in the ground beneath the surface due to this phenomenon.
Interesting Facts About Glacier for Children
For youngsters, learning about glaciers is a beautiful and instructive experience that they will never forget. Here are ten interesting glacier facts that you may not have known before.
Glaciers are large ice sheets that 'flow' like rivers. Snowfall takes hundreds of years to consolidate and form glaciers.
The world's glaciers are estimated to contain 100 trillion cubic meters of water. There is about 75% of the world's freshwater resources stored there!
Glaciers now encompass about 10% of the Earth's surface. During the last ice age, they occupied 32% of the planet's surface.
The most common kinds of glaciers are continental ice sheets and alpine glaciers. Alpine glaciers are formed on mountain summits and flow down via canyons.
The Lambert Glacier, located in Antarctica, is 100 kilometers broad by 400 kilometers long by 2.5 kilometers deep, making it the world's largest glacier.
Glacier ice appears brilliantly blue due to its thickness and uniformity!
There has never been a glacier surge as rapid as the one occurring on Pakistan's Kutiah Glacier. It traveled more than 12 kilometers in just three months in 1953.
Around 99 percent of the world's glacial ice is contained inside the two ice sheets covering almost all of Antarctica and Greenland.
Around 65 meters of sea-level rise may result in the complete melting of Antarctica's ice sheet. If this were to happen, London would be flooded.
From glacial ice, it is possible to deduce the climatic effect of climate variability. Scientists may remove and analyze ice to better understand the Earth's ecology over thousands of years.
There would be no bays or Great Lakes in today's globe if glaciers did not carve these terrain formations with their ice dozers over countless centuries. As it turns out, this individual's incredible achievements are only the beginning. Suppose you are an ambitious student or a person interested in learning about the exciting and dynamic living forms that inhabit our planet. In that case, you should be aware that glaciers are one of the most critical and necessary resources that slow the passage of time. These are just a few of the many fascinating facts about glaciers that you should keep in mind. Keep these fascinating facts about the vast ice and snow masses close at hand and your mental knowledge current.

A Healthy Eating Guide for Toddlers
Make your toddler eat healthy food by involving him in the grocery shopping, working together on the presentation of the food, cutting interesting shapes and sizes, and adding colourful vegetables to his meals.
When it comes to eating with your toddler, it is all about catering to his whims rather than healthy eating. Eating well is important for your growing baby as it helps him gain energy, maintain a healthy weight, and inculcate good eating habits. If your toddler has been fussy about eating food properly, then you should find new and innovative ways to feed him healthy meals.
Make Your Toddler’s Food More Appealing
Make your toddler’s nutritious food visually appealing by garnishing it well. You can bundle long sticks of veggies, such as carrots, red and yellow peppers, wrap them together and tie them with a strip of green onion. Your toddler would not be able to ignore such a vibrant and unique presentation.
Play with colour components of the food. Make use of peppers, beetroot, beans and tomatoes to draw the attention of your toddler.
Consider adding varying shapes to food by using different grains, beans and seeds to make it look more inviting.
Don’t just put the food on the plate, arrange the plate attractively and give a final touch of your presentation.
Involve Your Toddler
Develop your toddler’s interest in eating healthy foods by taking him to the grocery store with you.
Tell him the advantages of every vegetable you pick up from the shop to make him aware of its nutritional value.
Ask him to read out the grocery list for you as you shop, and do ask for his opinion about fruits or vegetables he would prefer to eat.
Consider buying a new fruit or vegetable every week to teach your toddler to add new components in his regular menu.
Fun and Health Combo for Toddlers
Ask your toddler to help you put toppings on a pizza. Make your mealtime more fun by arranging veggies like carrot sticks, tomatoes, and bell peppers such that they look like a face on the plate. You can also make pancakes in the shape of your toddler’s initials or you can cut the cakes, sandwiches, etc. in heart shape.
Select Juices Wisely
If your toddler is picky about eating fruits, then fresh juices are the best way to balance your toddler’s daily fruit intake. Be sure about the quantity and the kind of fruit juice you offer him. If he does not drink milk, try a juice fortified with calcium and vitamin D. Avoid buying juices that offer only 10 per cent of fruit concentrate and fill the rest of the carton with flavourings and sweeteners.
Play Positive
Be a role model for your toddler and make positive comments about the food you are eating. When you say things such as ‘these are so tasty!’ to your toddler, he may be more willing to try them. So get your little one to eat new food items rich in essential vitamins and minerals, for ideal development, with these handy tips.

Best toy Fisher Price Go Monster Truck for Toddler Review
We all have been complaining about the pandemic since the time we were locked up at home. As parents, we are occupied all day from taking care of our family to working from home. But, have we thought about our kids? How do we keep our kids entertained all the time? Just like other parents, it was difficult for me as well to keep my kid occupied with some of the other things.
I am a Firstcry fan, and I was checking out the app for some toys for my 15 months kiddo, I came across this funky looking Fisher-Price Go Monster Truck. It comes in only one combination of green and pink. My son is super fussy and selective when it comes to toys and games, but I must say that his eyes are stuck on this and he was super happy when I had shown him this toy, he was insisting me to buy it for him. I asked him what he liked and why he wanted it? So he said I like the cute eyes and the big wheels. He was eagerly waiting for it to arrive and now I must say this that since the day it’s come my kid loves playing with this truck. Earlier, my kid used to hold my hand and used to try to walk, but now his support is this new monster truck, and he now tells me this toy is my friend.
The best that I have liked about this truck is that it has smooth edges and it's made of plastic, so even if the kid drops it, then it won’t break easily. Another thing that I liked is that my child only has to press on top and the truck starts moving, so this keeps my kid engaged as he crawls and walks. It’s easy-going as the size is also small as their kids will not get hurt.
I would suggest this to all the mommies who are having a problem to keep their kid occupied and busy. Happy Shopping!! Read more

A. It’s very important that when you ask a question please provide us the age of the child currently I would say that if your child is unable to latch properly so whenever you’re feeding Press your breast with your hands for the feeding of the milk is better because the milk flow is going to be better and hopefully that you do the trick
