7 Baby Products That Adults Can Use as Well
If we could describe the scent of baby lotion or baby powder in the right words without using the connotation ‘baby smell’ for it, well, we would have had the appropriate words and definition for it. But certain things are hard to put into words. Whenever we apply baby lotion or powder on our babies’ skin, the lovely scent of these baby products hits us hard. There’s something about a waft of the pure scent of baby lotion that instantly comforts our nose - and our soul! We just need a reason to apply them on our skin as well, don’t we? Well, moms, you will be happy to know that we have enough reasons to make you ditch your expensive cosmetics and switch to baby products instead.
7 Baby Products That You as an Adult can Use as Well
The baby products mentioned below are suitable for adults' skin as well. So, feel free to borrow these baby products from your baby every once in a while!
1. Baby Lotion
Baby lotion, which usually is mild and gentle on baby skin, is thick and nourishing enough for adults’ skin as well. So, if the fresh smell of your baby’s lotion was not enough to attract you, you’ve now found a better reason to use it after all. After bathing, you can use baby lotion on your skin. Your skin will be soft and smooth and will smell fresh. And we bet that whenever you use baby lotion on yourself, you will be reminded of your good ol’ childhood days.
2. Baby Powder
Baby powder has many uses. Since summers are already here and the scorching heat is not ready to back down, we know you must be looking for a magical way to get rid of the itchiness and sweat the heat brings with it. Try baby powder! Baby powder will keep the sensitive areas (or where the sweat accumulates) of your skin dry on hot and humid days. With a sprinkle of baby powder, you will feel fresh and smell delicious! Skin chafing is another common problem in summers which usually occurs when skin rubs against skin or clothing. One of the ways to prevent chafing is by staying dry. If this problem troubles you as well, you can use baby powder on the affected areas to stay dry and to prevent it from worsening.
Baby powder has several other uses as well. It can also be used as dry shampoo; whenever you are in a hurry and your hair is a mess, just sprinkle some baby powder on your hair; it will make your hair smell better and appear less oily. If you often complain of stinky feet during summers, baby powder is the answer to this problem. Applying baby powder will help absorb the excess moisture on your feet and help them stay fresh. Alternatively, you can sprinkle baby powder in your shoes to help them stay fresh and to prevent blisters. Baby powder clearly works from top to toe!
3. Baby Oil
Many women use oil to remove eye makeup. If you also use oil to remove eye makeup, we suggest that you use one which doesn’t irritate your eyes or make your eyelids dry. Baby oil, which uses a baby-safe formula, can be used for removing eye makeup. Pour a few drops of baby oil onto a cotton pad or a soft cloth; wipe the eyelids with gentle downward movements and across the lashes. If your makeup doesn’t come off in one attempt, you can wipe the eyelids and lashes again, making sure there is no makeup left on your eyes.
4. Baby Cream (Extra Soft)
If your baby has dry skin, we know you must have invested in a good baby cream which is extra soft and keeps his skin moisturised all day long. But if you are also prone to dry skin, you can use an extra soft baby cream on your skin too. Extra soft baby cream is thicker than usual adult body lotions; applying it on your skin will keep your skin moisturised throughout the day. You can apply it on your arms and legs too, as it will provide them with a subtle sheen.
5. Baby Wipes
Baby wipes can do so much more than helping you clean your baby’s bottom. While we use baby wipes for several things, the most popular one is removing makeup. Baby wipes are gentle and using it on your face won’t irritate your facial skin. You can square-fold a baby wipe and gently rub it on your eyes if you want to remove eye makeup. They are even suitable for quick makeup fixes (like wiping off smudged kajal or dripping mascara). Keep them in your makeup kit always to avoid makeup mishaps and to remove makeup quickly.
6. Sunscreen
Similar to baby cream and baby powder, baby sunscreen too can be used by adults. Sunscreens for babies and infants usually contain no harsh additives, making them perfect for sensitive skin. If you are concerned that the SPF value of an infant’s sunscreen won’t protect your skin from sun damage, time to let that concern go because the truth is that the SPF value of any sunscreen doesn’t depend on age. Moreover, you don’t need to use a sunscreen with an SPF value higher than 50 because there is no concrete proof that shows that the higher the SPF, the better the protection that will be provided against the harmful rays of the sun. You can use any sunscreen with an SPF value of 15-30 or more. If you are planning to head out to the beach, use sunscreen that has an SPF value of higher than 30. Baby sunscreen also come in these ranges of SPF and don’t contain harsh additives, so if you run out of your own or have sensitive skin, you can use your baby’s instead of your regular sunscreen!
7. Gripe Water
Gripe water is a godsend for a mother who has a colicky baby. Gripe water provides relief to a baby from stomach problems; no wonder, moms think of it as a blessing. But do you know that it can work for you as well? Gripe water is a popular natural remedy made from ginger and fennel; both of these herbs are known to relieve an upset stomach. If you have gas, nausea, or a bloated stomach, you can drink gripe water too.
Baby Product That Adults Should Not Use
While all the above-mentioned baby products are safe to be used by adults, there is one baby product that you shouldn’t be using at all, at least, not on your hair. You guessed it right, it is baby shampoo. We understand that the idea of using gentle baby shampoo is tempting but here’s the thing; the pH formulation of baby shampoo is different from that of an adult’s shampoo, and it is not formulated for your hair. Also, the higher acidity level of a ‘no tears’ shampoo can be detrimental for your lush hair. So, avoid using baby shampoo on your hair. However, you can use it to clean your hair or makeup brushes.
These are some of the baby products (not including the shampoo, of course!) that you can use in your adulthood too. The next time you go shopping for these products, buy two of each. You can also borrow these from your baby’s nursery – your little one won’t find out! However, if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, it’s better to consult a dermatologist or a doctor before using any of these products for your skin. Furthermore, if you notice any signs of irritation upon using any of these baby products, discontinue its use immediately. Read more

Fabric Conditioners for Babies – All You Need to Know
Your bundle of joy is small, delicate, and absolutely adorable - and the same adjectives can be used to describe her little onesies and dresses! Hence, throwing them in the washing machine with harsh detergents just won’t do, when it comes to laundry time. Infant clothes are just as dainty as their owners, which mean that you have to take special care while washing them.
How to Wash a Baby’s Clothes
The fabrics used in baby clothing are usually cotton, cotton-polyester blends, fleece - and even cashmere, if you’re looking for high-end options; and it’s absolutely vital to follow certain basic dos-and-don’ts while washing them.
Do’s
Follow the instructions that are mentioned on the clothes’ tag.
Ensure you disinfect cloth nappies after they are washed.
Choose a detergent paired with a mild and gentle fabric softener in every wash. Ensure that you run the clothes through the rinse circle twice.
Don’ts
Don’t delay cleaning stains. However busy your baby keeps you, ensure that you soak the stained clothes straight away, so that the stains become easier to remove.
Don’t use bleach to clean your baby’s white clothes.
Don’t mix your baby’s clothes in with the rest of your family’s laundry in the washing machine, unless you’ve switched to a mild detergent.
Don’t dress her up in new clothes, unless they’ve been washed first. The clothes would have been stored in boxes for days together, and dust and dirt could easily have settled on it.
Similarly, clothes are sometimes sprayed with chemicals to preserve their freshness, and you don’t want your baby’s skin exposed to such chemicals! Pre-washing clothes becomes essential to avoid this situation.
What Happens if the Baby’s Clothes Are Not Washed Right?
As tiny as your little one is, her clothes may be the ones that pile up fastest in your laundry basket. If your little one’s laundry is not done right, her clothes and her skin will definitely make it visible. Therefore, it’s imperative you make the right choices, whether it’s the way her clothes are washed or what they are washed with.
Using detergents with bleach and chemicals can reflect on your baby’s skin as rashes, which can be severe in some cases. Similarly, washing cloth diapers with the rest of her clothes is not a hygienic or safe option. Itchy and rough textures that arise because of careless washing are a complete no-no, because it can irritate your baby’s delicate skin.
Fabric Conditioners for Baby Clothes
A comfortable baby is definitely a happy baby! Soft and gentle textures guarantee your baby the comfort she deserves, which is why using a fabric conditioner for her clothes is important.
How Are Fabric Conditioners Different from Detergents?
Consider shampoo and hair conditioners - shampoo rids the hair of dirt and other impurities, but the softness and shine of your hair can only be maintained by using a conditioner. The same logic applies to these laundry essentials. Detergents clean clothes by removing all the grime and stains that have been accumulated on them (which, in your baby’s case, will be a lot!) and can be bio or non-bio in nature. Non-bio detergents do not contain the presence of enzymes, which is why it is suitable to use on baby clothes, as enzymes can trigger allergies on sensitive skin.
A conditioner, on the other hand, smooths out the fibres of the clothes, making them soft and comfortable - like a cuddly hug!
Why Use Fabric Conditioners?
Using a fabric conditioner for baby clothes keeps the cloth fibres smooth, so that clothes feel gentle to the touch. Apart from keeping clothes soft and fuzzy, it presents the following advantages too:
Saves drying time for your wash load: This is because the conditioner’s formulation basically prevents the clothes from holding too much water while washing them.
Reduces wear and tear of clothes: Fabric conditioners can help to tame the movement of fibres in clothes. This means that it reduces the friction within the fabric that happen when the fibres rub against each other, which result in those stray threads and bobbles on your baby’s outfits.
Enhances breathability of clothes: Fabric conditioners prevent the damaging and matting of fibres, which are the causes for moisture getting locked in. Instead, it opens up the fabric structure and lets your baby’s skin breathe freely!
Helps in caring for the colour of clothes: It isn’t just the loss of dye that can make your baby’s bright outfits look dull after a few washes. Damage to fibres or fuzzing of clothes also diminish the colour and quality of the clothes, which can be prevented by using a conditioner.
How to Use Fabric Conditioners
To get the best use out of your fabric conditioner, follow these simple tips while washing the baby’s clothes:
Wipe off any stains that are clumpy, because these can soak into the fibre and stain clothes permanently.
Rinsing stains immediately in cold water will prevent them from ‘setting’.
If you’re washing clothes in the machine, pour in the detergent and conditioner in their designated compartments. Depending on your washing machine, you can probably add the conditioner right in the beginning (and the machine will release it during the final rinse cycle), or you’ll have to manually add it towards the end of the washing cycle.
Ensure that the conditioner is diluted and use small amounts. If you’re hand-washing the clothes, mix in a small amount of conditioner in a bucket full of water, ensure that it has dissolved well, and rinse the clothes in this solution.
Things to Consider While Choosing a Fabric Conditioner for Baby Clothes
While choosing a product, it’s important to note that it is baby-skin-friendly. Pick a fabric conditioner which is:
Mild and gentle, and can be combined with a non-bio detergent.
Dermatologically tested and approved.
Suited for the baby’s sensitive skin.
Very lightly fragrant.
A non-dye formula.
Your little one deserves nothing but love and happiness, especially in her early stages. Ensure that she remains comfortable wherever she goes and whatever she does!

5 Easy Hacks for a Super Chic Bathroom
Bathroom and style? If this combination seems odd to you, you may never have contemplated designing this space. Your bathroom can look as spectacular as the other rooms if you only follow some easy bathroom renovation tips!
Bathroom design has come a long way from basic choices of the past to wonderful ideas of the present. With the amount of time you spend in one, you should make sure every design element fulfills a purpose. Stylish bathrooms have the potential to keep you fresh at home and what's more, if you're looking to sell, they also push up your home’s resale value!
Gorgeous Bathroom Re-modelling Ideas
1.Choose Elegant Fixtures
Try using a vitreous china pedestal sink as your bathroom shower idea. You could also go for a wall-mounted sink with decorative shelving and graceful lines. If you have room to install a tub and no water woes, a 60-inch tub should be fine. But, if you’re fortunate in terms of more space, get a longer one with a deeper bowl and say hello to long, relaxing baths!
2.Get Practical Yet Stylish Flooring
Take a closer look at the floors. Have they been relegated to the backseat of your home’s decor? While wooden floors infuse a stylish look to the bathroom, they aren't that great as far as durability is concerned. Pick instead from a wide variety of tiles and intersperse them with pebbles to bring in a trendy vibe. You can also choose to alternate coloured and patterned tiles for unique bathroom tile designs.
3.Install Proper Lighting
Good lighting looks stunning and is a key aspect of sound bathroom design. Instead of having just one source of light, why not go the distance and install ambient lighting and task lighting? You can even have accent lighting if there are objects and art pieces you want to show off. Meanwhile, put up a framed mirror over a sink. It’s an easy bathroom renovation tip but looks gorgeous.
4.Set a New Tone with Colours
Take inspiration from the changing colours of the season to freshen up your bathroom. Add a splash of colour by keeping bright hand towels. You should also consider updating your bathroom furniture. Why not try beautiful colours like pale blue, sea green, bits of navy, white and yellow? In fact, a great bathroom interior design idea is a focal wall of multiple colours. Just try it to see the difference!
5.Get Inspired by Nature
For a quick and easy bathroom makeover idea, bring the outdoors in. Whether a floral arrangement or a single blossom, flowers are a pocket-friendly option that totally transform the feel of your space. Don't just hang art on the wall; place small planters too. To top up the beauty, you can add a glass tumbler covered with freshly plucked flowers and keep it on the vanity. It’ll help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Add drama to your bathroom with these clever bathroom remodelling ideas. Whether you use one or all, they’ll add a fun-and-flirty vivaciousness to your space. Freshen up and unwind with these trendy options and get ready to bathe in a super chic space! Read more
