20 Indian Foods to Eat After Delivery
Prior to pregnancy, most women are told to avoid a bunch of food items. Spicy foods are a no-no, and greasy fatty food items are to be kept away, making many women crave these foods even more. However, once the delivery is done, it does not mean you can immediately get back to eating whatever you want. Following an Indian diet after pregnancy comes with its own caveats. It is important to know which food items can be consumed, and should be consumed, primarily, as part of a postnatal diet.
Why is Postpartum Nourishment Important?
With labour and delivery taking their toll on a woman’s body, taking care of yourself, is just as important as taking care of your newborn. Here’s why postpartum nourishment is vital.
1. Provides Strength
Weakness is common in the third trimester, and even post delivery. Also, matching the baby schedule and getting less and erratic sleep makes women more fatigued. Many women are anaemic or have an iron deficiency, which causes them to feel tired and weak, and experience frequent headaches. Eating foods rich in iron, such as meat, spinach, legumes, dates, anjeer etc., makes women feel stronger.
2. Enhances Breast Milk
Healthy fats and nutrients improve the quality of breast milk, whereas unhealthy fats found in fast food, etc., has proven to affect the nourishment that breast milk provides to the baby. Hence, eating healthy keeps your baby healthy.
3. Improve Mood
We already know that postpartum depression is quite common. However, eating healthy provides your body with the right nutrients, making you feel healthier, more energetic, and overall, much happier. This can definitely help prevent or treat postpartum depression.
What to Eat After Delivery- 20 Indian Foods for New Moms
Here are some foods that you should consume after delivery.
1. Moringa Leaves
Moringa leaves are highly recommended to mothers, right after delivery. They are known to contain Vitamin A, Vitamin B, and Vitamin C in good quantities, as well as a number of other nutrients and minerals such as calcium, iron, and protein.
How to Include it in Your Diet:
Moringa leaves can be consumed either via the well known shatavari kalp for up to four months after pregnancy. Fresh moringa leaves can also be used in soups, normal sabzi with potatoes (just like you do in aloo methi), fried vegetables, and so on to integrate them into your diet.
2. Whole Sprouted Grains
The benefits of sprouts and other sprouted grains have been inculcated in us since childhood. As dry grains usually do not carry as much nutrition as sprouted ones, sprouted grains such as wheat, bajra, jowar, ragi are considered much healthier than their dried counterparts.
How to Include it in Your Diet:
Sprouted grains can be mixed with some dry grains and ground together to make flour. This flour can then be used in multiple ways, most popular of which is to make porridge.

Take a bowl of water and soak a few almonds in them. Let soak through the night, and have them first thing in the morning, as soon as you wake up. Not only does this keep you healthy, but the omega -3 content in them helps develop the baby’s brain functions.

Hi ! I am Nandani Raunak.
Right now I am a Mother / Housekeeper / Chef / Teacher / Nurse / Coach / Chauffeur/ Storyteller/ Monster killer/ Planner/ Organizer / Decorator / Crafter/ Best Friend / Multitasking queen / Wonder woman..
In short I am a Mum.
My name is Nandani Raunak. I did Engineering in Information Technology . I didn't want to do 9-5 Job in corporate sector . I love kids so after engineering I started giving tutions and I enjoyed.
I love Reading, Gardening and playing with my baby . I read and review books. I love dancing and always eager to learn new things.
In 7- months of pregnancy and 15 months of parenthood I learnt many things , I saw ups and downs in my pregnancy , sleepless nights, easily get annoyed and on the other side easily get emotional.
Motherhood taught me one important lesson is how to be patient.
Yes , you heard it right my baby is 8 weeks premature , but now he is fully healthy baby. When I 32 weeks pregnant my water broke. My husband was there with me in my whole pregnancy journey. I can say that ' We were Pregnant '. He was my strength that time. It was normal delivery. Actually for normal/ vaginal delivery yoga and lots of fluids helped me a lot.
As Nirvin(happiness) was 8 weeks premature so he had to admit in NICU for 20 days. By God grace everything was fine and after 20 days , on fifth day of Durga Puja/ dushera Nirvin was at home . Motherhood journey toh jab aap pregnant hote ho tabhi se start ho jati pr now begins the true Story of Motherhood.
As he was prematured , he was not able to suck breast milk . My doctor asked me to purchase Breast Pump. I purchased manual breast pump , although it was good . But really very tough to manage with sleepless nights with baby, household chores and all . I purchased another one which was electric breastpump . It was really helpful.
Some people thinks Pump milk is not breastfeeding, but it's also a breastfeed. On other post I will definitely share pros and cons of direct breastfeeding and Pump breastfeeding..
Motherhood is a beautiful journey. I learnt a lot and still learning a lot.

5 Money Traps Moms Should Avoid
There are several money traps that you should avoid to prevent useless expenditure. The off-season sale, the enticing buy-now-pay-later offer, and the free credit card deal may seem like good ideas at first. However, they lead you down a financial spiral that will make your head and wallet spin.
Don't get caught in the vicious cycle of wasteful spending and forget your larger financial goals as a mother. Remember you have children to take care of, a kitchen to run, and a future to save for. You can't expect your spouse to shoulder all responsibilities, can you? There are one too many signs which, if heeded, can save you from wasting a lot of money. These are some dangerous money traps you should steer clear of.
How Not To Get Caught in a Financial Catch
1. The ‘Free’ Trap
Do not ever buy into the "best things in life are free" statement. When sellers want to trap you, they entice you with free deals. Offers like "issue your credit card for free" and "buy x car and get the last three installments for free" sound familiar, don't they? While these freebies seem great at first, this is a smart money trap. The seller understands how consumers do not ever take the pain of reading between the lines of these sale pitches. This free service in time becomes a paid service, without you ever realising until you see surprising deductions in your bank account or start getting pesky calls asking you to clear your dues. You should smartly stay away from such free offers, except maybe free cookie hand-outs for your child.
2. The ‘Upselling’ Trap
Have you ever been to a store where the sales guy urges you to also try a red dress that matches with the red heels you're planning to buy? Did you succumb to his smooth talk and ended up buying both the red dress and the red heels? Well, you're not alone. Becoming a victim of upselling is common. This money trap can leave you in a daze with stuff you may not need, thus eating into the money you may have set aside for family or personal needs. Your savings for the month could come to nought because of this. To avoid this, ensure to make a list of essential things before shopping and give little importance to sales talk. This will help dissuade you from buying anything extra.
3. The Sale Trap
Who doesn't like a good sale? The thought of getting something for you or your family for half the price is awesome. While we salivate over discounted goods, shopping during sales also leads to unnecessary buying and at times even hoarding. Remember, just because you see the word "sale," doesn't mean you need another black dress and your child needs another set of building blocks. Of course, as a mom, denying your child something may sound cruel. However, in the long run, you'll be able to see the futility of such impulsive and emotional buying. If you do not have the willpower to stop shopping, leaving your wallet at home should work. Do not fall for sales tags and promotions. This is one of the most common money traps to avoid.
4. The Market Trap
You enter a supermarket with a list in hand. You take a cool stroll through the aisle with the cart. You strike the diapers and the granola off the list. You spot a box of chocolate cookies your little bundle may enjoy and a shampoo that promises lustrous hair in two weeks. You drop these in the cart too. You get back, and realise that the 6 things you went to buy became 12 things, and now cost you more than you'd bargained for. Sounds familiar? Supermarkets are created to make shopping a soothing experience. They push you into submission to spend more than you normally would. Stick to your guns and buy only what you need.
5. The App Trap
Addicted to Candy Crush? Well, chances are that you could fall into the ‘freemium’ trap. Most game app developers entice you to play their games. What happens when you run out of lives and need to progress immediately? You usually fall for the ‘pay’ option to move ahead in the game. Each time you waste money on a game, it fills the pockets of the developers. The next time you are waiting to pick your kid up from school, read a book rather than getting lured into the money trap spun by game developers.
These money traps are potentially dangerous as they make you mindlessly shop and in return impact your savings. How to avoid money traps then? Stay committed to the cause of saving money. Remind yourself of more important things such as investing in health care funds for your kids and house maintenance. When you have your priorities right as a mother and wife, these landmines can be safely ignored. Read more

A. Hello mam! If it is due to colic pain /gas, it is common in newborns. Make sure that you burp your baby after every feed. Don't feed just before your baby is to sleep. Make a routine like feed, play and sleep. Burp inbetween feedings. Colic pain will stop automatically at 5 or 6 months. So don't worry. Happy parenting!

A. the average birth weight of neonates is about 3 kg.
during the first few days after birth, the newborn loses
extracellular fluid equivalent to about 10% of the body
weight.
most infants regain their birth weight by the age of 10 days. subsequently, they gain weight at a rate of
approximately 25 to 30 g per day for the first 3 months of life.
thereafter they gain about 400 g weight every month,
for the remaining part of the first year. x
an infant usually doubles his birth weight (taken as 3 kg) by the age of 5 months. the birth weight triples at 1 year and is four times at 2 years of age.
the weight of ca child at the age of three years is usually
five times that of the birth weight.
