Can You Get Pregnant With an Anteverted Uterus?
The most important organ of the female reproductive system is the uterus. This is the very organ that plays a key role during menstruation and holds the baby when a woman is pregnant. This organ regulates the menstrual cycles, thus ensuring that normal functioning of the body. However, many women may have an anteverted uterus. An anteverted uterus is tilted forward at the cervix and towards the abdomen. Many women think that having an anteverted uterus makes it difficult to conceive. But is that so? Find out!
What Is an Anteverted Uterus?
When the uterus is tilted towards the front of the abdomen, it is known as an anteverted uterus. There are two abnormal positions of the uterus. One is anteverted and the other is retroverted. The uterus is said to be retroverted when it is tilted backwards. Talking specifically about the anteverted uterus, a tilted forward uterus implies that the uterus gets dislocated towards the bladder. This is a commonly occurring issue in women, making them think that they would have complexities in their menstrual cycles and pregnancy. But having an anteverted uterus is perfectly normal and it doesn’t affect a woman’s ability to get pregnant. If you have an anteverted uterus, you may not even know about it.
Causes of Anteverted Uterus
There are many reasons why women may have an anteverted uterus. Sometimes, having scars from a surgery performed in the past may make the uterus tilt. The uterus may even tilt forward because of endometriosis. This is a condition where the tissues layering the inside of the uterus develop on the outside.
Symptoms of Anteverted Uterus
There are no clear symptoms of an anteverted uterus. Chances are you won’t even know that you have an anteverted uterus. However, in some rare cases, where the condition is severe and the uterus is tilted way too much, you may notice the following symptoms:
Abdominal pain during menstrual cycles
Constant back pain during menstruation
Constipation prior to or during menstruation
Foul-smelling discharge during menstrual cycles
Ovarian pain experienced during ovulation
Can You Get Pregnant With an Anteverted Uterus?
Earlier it was believed that a woman with an anteverted uterus cannot get pregnant. However, recent advancements suggest otherwise. The tilting of the uterus is nowhere related to a woman’s fertility. This is because the passage the sperm covers through the uterus and the further process of fertilization has no connection with the orientation of the uterus.
In case a woman is pregnant and the tilt of uterus is beyond a certain limit, she may experience discomfort and pain while emptying her bladder. If a pregnant woman has an anteverted uterus, she must visit a gynaecologist on experiencing severe back pain or irritations in the abdominal region.
An interesting fact that may leave you surprised is that when a woman with an anteverted uterus is pregnant, her baby bump becomes visible sooner than expected. It could be visible even before she completes her 12 weeks into a pregnancy.
How Is an Anteverted Uterus Diagnosed?
An anteverted uterus can be diagnosed using the following two methods:
Pelvic Exam: This method is used by experienced doctors in which they touch and feel the uterus, the pelvic region, the ovaries, and the abdomen, to get an idea whether the uterus is tilted or not. Based on the doctor’s intuition, she may further ask the woman to go for an ultrasound.
Ultrasound: This is a technological invention that involves using sound waves to create sonogram images of the abdomen on the screen. This way the doctor analyses the images on the screen to know whether the uterus is tilted or not.
Impact of an Anteverted Uterus on Pregnancy
It is known that the forward tilt of the uterus neither affects a woman's ability to get pregnant nor does it create any problems in delivery (though it has been found that some natural processes that ought to occur inside the uterus get affected). Therefore, it is highly recommended to consult a gynaecologist even if there are no severe complications.
Also, there are certain rare cases where a pregnant woman may develop pregnancy problems such as uterine fibroids, uterus polyps, ovarian cysts or even fibroid tumours because of an anteverted uterus. And, this is the very reason that expert consultation is required when in the initial stages of pregnancy.
Can You Have Sex If You Have an Anteverted Uterus?
Having an anteverted uterus will not affect your sexual health or sexual life. So, yes you can have sex with an anteverted uterus if you want to get pregnant or otherwise.
Treatment Options for an Anteverted Uterus
An anteverted uterus is not a health problem and requires no treatment. There are no treatment options available for an anteverted uterus because no treatment is required.
Although the need for treatment is not a concern, you could do the following in order to ensure a good and healthy life. The exercises mentioned below may not work for all women and the results can't be assured, hence one must try these only after consulting with a doctor.
Relax the Pelvis: Lie flat on a mat with your back on the floor and arms by your side. Slowly and gradually take a deep breath and along with that lift your hips to about an inch above the floor. Maintain this position for about 5 seconds then exhale slowly while coming back to your original comfortable position. Repeat this exercise for about 5 more times.
Knee to Chest Exercise: Lie flat on a mat with your back on the floor and knees bent. Slowly lift one of your knees and bring it close to the chest with the help of both your hands. Maintain this position for about 10-15 seconds and release your foot back to its bent position. Repeat the same process with the other knee.
Having an anteverted uterus is common and it does not affect a woman’s fertility or her ability to get pregnant. If you are trying to get pregnant for long, get your uterus examined. In case of any doubt or confusion, consulting a gynaecologist is the best bet. So speak to your doctor about any problem that you may have and follow her instructions. Stay informed, eat healthy, exercise, and lead a healthy life!

Healthy Lifestyle Post Pregnancy: Happiness Commandments for Cheerful Mothers
Healthy lifestyle post pregnancy is a must just like the way it was during pregnancy - in fact, I should say healthy lifestyle is a must no matter what. We look for excuses and cheat meal options just every other second and we always say that our body is craving for it. So here are a few healthy options to get back to a fit body and soul.
1. Have a Set Routine
Kids and a routine might sound crazy, but if you yourself start following a routine like an approximate time to be up, get your breakfast and do other chores and a set time to be sleeping, even your kids will slowly revolve around that routine. This will give you time for yourself and keep you mentally happy.
2. Meditate
Not asking you to chant or do any religious mantras, but if you wish to, why not? Five minutes by the clock just focus on positive energy and thoughts. It will give you such a positive feel through the day that you would achieve more than you thought you could.
3. Eating Healthy
This is something we all have the hardest time following, and the excuse of cravings take us to the next level and then there's no looking back. I swear by drinking hot water with carom seeds, Mint and black cumin water which helped me reduce all the pregnancy weight both times. Reducing carbohydrate intake and increasing protein intake has been another boon that gives more energy in general to carry out tasks at home. So yes, do try the same as it might be as beneficial to you as it's been for me. Munch on chocolates too, but just one big chunky square so that your cravings are well under control. Increasing fibre in the form of oats, fruits, and sauteed veggies will make life so much healthier. Recipes are endless when it comes to yummy healthy food. So say yes to a healthy lifestyle by making minor changes.
4. Drink Water
Increasing your water intake can make things so much easier in terms of good health. The constipation experienced by many due to breastfeeding is controlled. It regulates your unhealthy eating and increases your metabolism, plus adds all the glory benefits it has for the skin.
5. Exercise
How can we forget the most crucial aspect to healthy living? As a mom you have enough on your plate, but that necessarily doesn't count as exercise. Divide you exercise routine into basic 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening. It doesn't have to be heading off to gym, but just a basic walk or stretches or abdominal curls which you can plan as day-to-day activity. 15 minutes by the clock don't seem so stressful and those 15 minutes make it all worthwhile.
6. Sleep
Get as much sleep as you can. A wink here or there matters. It keeps the mothers active as well as calm, otherwise you never know how many times a day your temper might boil. If you have someone who can take care of the baby for a while it's a boon; you can just take a wink or a power nap and you ll be refreshed.
7. Hobby
Try doing something during the day which you like. Be it reading a page of a book, or drawing or listening to music or watching your favourite episode. Do what interests you and you enjoy that will keep you positive happy, and you'll be happier to look after your children with a genuine smile on your face.

7 Tips to Look Slim in a Sari and Rock Your Next Party Look!
For those of you ladies who would prefer giving gowns and dresses a miss for your next office or family party, but are worried about your sari betraying any flab you’re trying to hide, we have the perfect tips for you to create a slimming effect on wearing your sari!
7 Ways to Look Slim in a Sari
Drapes, material, blouse designs, and the works - take care of these little details and watch that curvaceous sari figure take shape!
1. Go for Dark Colours
It’s a very basic fashion concept that dark colours and shades can make you appear a few sizes slimmer than you actually are. But when we say dark, don’t go for sombre saris! Look for monochrome saris with dull metallic accents that will look subtle and graceful. Ensure that you choose saris with thin borders so that they skim along your frame and make you look all sleek and sexy!
2. Choose the Right Fabric
Pure cotton and organza saris, gorgeous as they are, can be too stiff to enhance your curves, and end up flaring out instead. When it comes to choosing the right material for your saris, you want something that will fall on your body lightly and hug your figure - but not too much! Soft as satin is, its slipperiness while draping can test your patience. Chiffon saris too, lightweight as they are, can cling too tightly to your body, making you feel like you’re revealing more than you want to! The best of the lot is pure georgette or crepe saris which drape naturally around your body, but don’t draw attention to the flaws you want to hide. Soft silks or soft cottons are also relatively easier to pleat, look elegant and sophisticated, and accentuate your figure just right.

3. The Length of the Sari
The longer the sari, the more fabric it comes with, and the more volume it adds to your drape. A very lengthy sari can create the illusion of a heavier body shape because there is so much to drape with! The standard length of a sari (not including the blouse material) should be around 5.5 metres.
4. The All-important Drape
No matter how gorgeous your sari is, if the pleats are untidy and unflattering, you’re just going to hate all the pictures you clicked in that sari! The pleats on the bottom need to be just around 5 to 6 in number, which are staggered out a little just for a bit of flattering flare. Make sure they are even and lay down flat by pressing them down with your hands; ask someone to help out if needed! For the pallu too, the best thing you can do is to leave it open. But if you would like to walk around without much of a fuss (which the open pallu might not guarantee), make medium-sized pleats and pull it over your torso such that your abdomen is covered. Tie the sari a little below your navel and tuck the pleats slightly to the side, as opposed to directly under the navel area. You don't have to stick to traditional styles too; there are plenty of modern draping styles you can try. Experiment with various styles of draping to see which one flatters your figure best!

5. The Patterns on the Sari
There are a bunch of patterns and designs you need to avoid while picking out your sari, because trivial as it may seem, these prints can play a role in either making or breaking your shape! For starters, you need to draw attention away from places you consider problem areas; so ensure that there is nothing big or eye-catching on the sari that falls exactly on your problem areas. Small print that is evenly spread out over the sari should be chosen over large prints (big and multicoloured stripes or checks, for example). Give chunky embellishments a pass; stick to clean, muted designs with fine embellishments.
6. The Blouse
No matter how beautiful your sari is, if your blouse doesn’t support it in all its glory, you could find that the whole outfit is playing up your flaws! Your blouse shouldn’t be too tight (making bulges visible) nor too loose (unflattering and bulky). A well-fitted blouse with the perfect sleeves can be the best companion your sari could ask for; 3/4th sleeves or long sleeves look best for those who want to hide flabby arms. Skip the halter-neck or sleeveless blouses if your shoulders and arms are too broad, but if you have sexy toned arms you’d like to show off, then by all means, go for a revealing blouse! Another trend that is catching on now is the jacket over the sari or a choli instead of a blouse. It cuts down on skin-show, but adds a layer of modern glamour to the traditional sari.

7. The Little Things
Remember to pair your outfit with a flattering hairstyle and makeup, with comfortable shoes to boot (heels are not always compulsory; you can always pick jootis or stylish wedges), and a clutch. If you do choose to carry a handbag, ensure that you don’t hold it close to any of your problem areas, as it will become more evident, and try to pick a small bag that can house all your essentials.
And that’s all there is to it! Here’s a bit of cliche advice that is applicable no matter what you wear - with a killer smile and a confident attitude, own what you’re wearing and show it off with grace!

From woman to a mother- A smooth sail or a rollercoaster ride?
My story
"When you give birth to a child, it's a re-birth of yours as well." - read it somewhere, at that time couldn't relate with it completely untill I became a mother. Yes, I am a mom of a beautiful, naughty , cute, lovely 16 month old baby girl. And yes, I have changed a lot in this 16 months. The 9 months of pregnancy were a piece of cake in my case and I thought, how hard can it be to become a mother? Obviously, I underestimated the BIG role that was waiting for me. It has been a rollercoaster ride for me. Now, we are getting in pace a little by little, but today when I look back, it's been a lot of ups and downs. Motherhood is like a mystery box, you never know what's waiting for you inside that box, until you open it. It has been same with me. I had to go for a planned C-section as I had already passed my due date and there were no signs of dialation.( Yes, that can happen which was the first unexpected event for me.) Postpartum I had diastolic hypertension which was another unexpected surprise for me! I wasn't prepared for neither of these. My daughter had colic issues and on top of that I had chicken guinea after 10 days of delivery. I was so frustrated, confused, helpless in that period. I wasn't prepared for any of these, I couldn't even think any of these in my worst nightmare, I didn't know what to do!! My hormones were taking a big toll on me, my baby needed my help, and I didn't know how can I help her. To see your baby cry all day and night is so painful. Specially when you by yourself is not healed and going through health issues. Luckily I had my husband by my side, while I completely lost myself in this transition from being a woman to a mother, he didn't loose his cool and managed all of us. He stood by me like a rock, and soothed me and our daughter so nicely during this tough period. Due to covid, we couldn't ask for any help from our relatives, so we were on our own. Now when I look back it felt like a tough patch in our journey, but at that time each day was passing like a long phase. I think that's the point, in every tough time to find that little ray of hope to hold on a bit longer. Which pushes us to fight a bit harder, to not give up so easily. In my case that ray was my husband, I know you all must also had your own ray of hope. Would be delighted to know about your RAY OF HOPE. Let me know!😀 Read more

'The Stitches Hurt Like Mad' - Sameera Reddy Opens Up About Her C-Section Birth
Second-time mommy and the truly inspiring Sameera Reddy has taken the internet by storm ever since she announced her pregnancy. The actress has kept her fans engaged on Instagram by sharing the most relatable stories of her beautiful journey, including having gone through postpartum depression the first time around and her relationship with her body.
Less than a week ago, Sameera welcomed her beautiful daughter via caesarean delivery. She turned to the gram to share her experience, opening up about her postpartum body and the pain she went through while giving birth to her baby.
Here’s what she had to say about her delivery, and a glimpse into how she has been handling it.
https://www.instagram.com/p/B0DNO6fHNah/
Sameera’s caption reads: "As part of my #imperfectlyperfect campaign I promised I’d share my post partum journey so here goes. It’s really damn hard on the body when it’s a c section because the stitches hurt like mad. Nothing can ready you for the sleepless nights of endless feeding and your body just feels so out of whack it can really get you down. The tummy swelling takes a while to go and this is day 5 post delivery . Im thrilled to have my daughter in my arms but I can’t help but feel hormonally challenged because of all the changes. It all bounces back and that’s the silver lining!"
She credited her baby for giving her the strength to find herself again with this lovely post from a couple of days ago. She also talked about how reaching out to people to change their perceptions about their bodies made her feel wonderful.
https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz7aNMiHU8F/
We truly appreciate Sameera’s honesty throughout her pregnancy! A lot of mommies out there find it hard (or aren’t allowed!) to get real about their pregnancy and postpartum experiences, either because they are ashamed of how they look or fear others’ opinions and unwelcome judgement.
Things like physical pain, swelling, asymmetrical body structure, depression and sleepless nights are common among new mommies, and instead of facing these problems alone, we urge them to come forward and get real about it. No doubt, it takes a lot of courage to open up about pregnancy, childbirth and all that follows, and that’s something Sameera is trying to eliminate with her campaign #imperfectlyperfect. She plans on sharing more stories about her journey ahead to inspire women. Through this campaign, Sameera urges every woman to love and accept herself and her body, in every phase of life.
We salute her campaign and the very fact that she’s not afraid to shine, no matter what her ‘imperfections’. We also hope that through her efforts, other women find the strength and courage to love themselves and their bodies, and truly appreciate what they go through to bring a new life into the world!
