15 Best Baby and Toddler Food Ideas While Travelling
Travelling with a baby in tow may seem challenging, but the key to ensuring a smooth journey that both you and the baby enjoy is to be prepared for anything you may need. A major part of travelling with your baby is having the right food around, as babies stomachs are delicate, and can’t handle outside food. Many parents are unsure about what kind of food to carry when travelling with a baby and toddler. To keep your baby’s hunger satiated and her mood happy, it is important to carry food that is both, travel friendly and delicious. Here are some baby and toddler travel food ideas.
Food for Babies While Travelling
Babies between six to 12 months old are fairly new in the process of being introduced to solids, so it essential to be smart about the type of food you carry along for them.
1. Baby Food
Baby food is nutritious, yummy, and quite easy to prepare while travelling. This kind of food is generally given to infants above six months. There are various baby food premixes that are easily available and travel friendly.
2. Oatmeal
You can add oatmeal to your baby’s diet, once she is 6 months old.It contains calcium, protein and fibre apart from having a great taste babies love. Boil milk or water, and add oatmeal powder while stirring continuously. You can add mashed fruits for taste and nutrition. Allow it to cool and then pack it in a container.

You can rely on breastfeeding the baby if you are travelling in a private vehicle, but it can be an issue in public places. Store breast milk beforehand, using a breast pump, and feed your baby during meal times. Formula milk is a great option, as it needs water and formula powder to make the mix.
4. Fruit Purees
These are wholesome, loaded with essential nutrients, and easy to prepare when travelling. This can be prepared on-the-spot, since all you need is fruit, milk, a bowl, and a fork. Mash the fruit add milk and feed it to your tiny tot.
5. Khichdi
There is simply no better food for toddlers while travelling than the traditional, home-made khichdi. It is nutritious, tasty, and gives all the necessary nutrition, especially when vegetables are added to it. Follow the normal steps you take to prepare khichdi for yourself, but add lots of ghee and ensure that it is soft. Use a pressure cooker to give it a soft and even texture, with a taste that your baby will love.
6. Boiled Vegetables
Vegetables are great foods for babies, but can often be hard to chew. Boiling softens the vegetables and makes them ready for consumption. Vegetables like carrot work well, as they are sweet in taste and help in digestion. Use a pressure cooker to boil the vegetables for minimal loss of nutrients.
7. Carrot Cake
Travel isn’t fun without something sweet, right? Carrot cake is soft, healthy and delicious. You can always substitute flour and sugar with healthier ingredients such as whole wheat and jaggery or honey. Your child will be super happy when you bring out the carrot cake you’ve packed.

Which Foods to Avoid While Travelling With Baby and Toddler?
There are certain kinds of foods to be avoided when you are travelling with a baby in tow. Strike them off your travel list to ensure you and your baby have a hassle-free trip:
Oily snacks (especially the ready made variety) should be avoided, as they can lead to issues like heartburn and obesity.
Soft drinks are rich in sugar and can erode the enamel of your kids.
Cereals that are high in sugar can lead to early diabetes.
Thin liquids that are easy to spill and cause a mess. Kids have less control over their motor functions and can easily spill and drop food.
Foods that are relatively small can get lodged in the windpipe and are a choking hazard.
New and untried food which may not agree with your baby’s tummy
Travelling with your baby should be special for you and your baby. Feeding your baby or toddler during an outstation trip should not cause any stress. All you require is effort and loads of patience, so the journey becomes enjoyable with food and feeding times being the least of your worries.

13. Bananas Almond Shake
Recipe
Bananas and almonds make a really good combination. Banana almond shake is one of the most delicious home remedies for reducing belly fat after delivery. This milkshake tastes better than most foods recommended for weight loss! However, make sure you have this only about 3 times a week. To cut down on the calories of this recipe, you can use soy milk instead of regular cow's milk.
How It Helps
Bananas are perhaps the yummiest source of potassium for the body. Almonds, on the other hand, provide the body with vitamin E and are a good source of essential fatty acids. All these nutrients have a high satiating value, curbing your urge to snack between meals.
14. Water!
How It Helps
Did you know that the symptoms of hunger and thirst are the same? You may be familiar with the way your tummy grumbles when you are hungry, but do you know it also grumbles when you are thirsty? Next time you feel 'hungry', have a glass of water and wait for about half an hour. You will notice that your 'hunger' has disappeared. Drinking plenty of water is one of the home remedies for a flat tummy that can actually start showing results within a week. The more water you drink, the less water your body retains!
What does this tell you? - Many of us misinterpret the body's signal, and end up eating more than the body needs!
Make sure you drink at least 3.5-4 litres of water every day. Do not drink it all at once. Have a glass of water every couple of hours. Also, have a glass of water half an hour before your meal time – it will control your portion sizes.
So, moms, ready to get started on your weight loss and fitness journey through food and drinks? :) We sure are! Do let us know which of these home remedies for reducing belly fat after delivery you are going to try, and how your experience turns out. Read more

Blood Clot in the Uterus During Pregnancy
Pregnancy is a phase in which a woman experiences a lot of changes, both emotionally and physically. It is, therefore, very important to take good care of your health and monitor all the changes that occur. Excessive vaginal bleeding during pregnancy is abnormal and needs to be reported to the doctor to prevent any risks or complications.
What Is a Blood Clot in the Uterus?
Whenever the body experiences an injury, like a cut or a wound, it is accompanied by bleeding, which subsequently leads to blood clots. Similarly, when the placenta separates or detaches from the uterine wall, it leads to bleeding and blood clotting - just how your body responds to any wound. The placenta is the key organ that maintains the transport of nutrients and oxygen between the mother and the baby. Any damage to it is a serious problem and must be addressed immediately. These blood clots can occur during any time of the pregnancy - even during delivery.
What Are the Types of Blood Clots in the Uterus?
Blood clots or haematomas are classified according to the location of their origin. With respect to the placenta, there are two types of haematomas: subchorionic haematomas and retroplacental hematomas.
Blood clots that originate along the edges of the placenta are called subchorionic hematomas, and the ones that occur behind the placenta are known as retroplacental haematomas. Another type of blood clot that occurs due to the breaking down of blood vessels near the umbilical cord is called an amniotic haematoma and is usually found in front of the placenta. The type of blood clot is diagnosed by the doctor using ultrasound - a subchorionic haematoma - can be diagnosed in the first trimester itself.
Causes of Blood Clots in the Uterus During Pregnancy
Blood clots in the uterus occur when a part of the placenta separates from the uterine wall during the course of pregnancy. The reasons for the separation are still being investigated by doctors, but with little success. However, doctors have been able to identify some risk factors.
Women who have had an abdominal injury due to an automobile accident, or any other sort of mishap are at risk.
Mothers with high blood pressure are also at risk as it can lead to severe bleeding.
Complications
Most times, uterine clots get re-absorbed into the uterus, or they remain in the body till delivery. As long as your ultrasounds show that the pregnancy is progressing just fine, there is nothing to worry about.
Complications caused by blood clots during pregnancy can range from a heart attack to a miscarriage. Hence, it is very important to report any excessive vaginal bleeding that occurs during pregnancy. However, it has been seen that there are very few chances of a miscarriage to occur due to a subchorionic haematoma, which is the most common type. Other complications that have been reported include:
Treatment
Most of these blood clots do not require any sort of treatment and are self-resolving. The doctor will suggest rest for the mother as a remedy. Also, monitoring the clot over a few weeks to assess the size and any further complications is advised. Sometimes, the clot might only get detected during delivery. In these cases, the mother needs to follow up with ultrasounds to keep a check on the healing of the clot.
Excessive vaginal bleeding during pregnancy is an abnormal phenomenon and must be reported to the doctor. It is important to remember that vaginal bleeding can also be caused by factors such as sex or hormonal changes, and needn’t necessarily be a cause for concern. An ultrasound can diagnose the cause of bleeding and the location and size of the blood clot if there is one. Tracking any bleeding or other abnormal change during the pregnancy and keeping the doctor informed is the best way to avoid any risks to the mother and the baby.

Constipation during Pregnancy. I have listed some natural changes in the diet and routine to relieve constipation.
Constipation is a common problem during pregnancy. According to ACOG, if you empty your bowel less than thrice a week then you might be suffering from Constipation. It is caused be a lot of factors.
The hormone Progesterone which helps in relaxing the muscles also relaxes the bowel muscles and slows down the movement of food there. Although it helps in more absorption of nutrients for the baby but it also sometimes leads to constipation.
The growing size of the uterus may also press against the rectum and cause constipation.
The prenatal vitamins such as Iron supplements also lead to constipation.
You can make some simple and natural changes to your diet and daily routine to get relief.
Taking a high fiber diet will help. Take fresh fruits, vegetables, beans and legumes. You can have fresh salads, they will be healthy and will have lots of fiber. Clean the vegetables and fruits thoroughly and keep the peel. You can also include Kiwi in your diet.
Opt for whole grain bread and buns over their white counterparts.
Take small meals instead of three heavy meals. You can give a gap of 2-3 hours and have six small meals. You can also include a glass of hot milk at bedtime if you are not lactose intolerant.
Soak 8-10 black raisins overnight and have in the morning preferably with milk (if you are not lactose intolerant).
You can have warm water with lime juice in the morning for easy bowel movement.
Drink about 8 glasses of water a day. This will not only help with constipation but will also maintain amniotic fluid.
For better digestion you can sit in Vajarasana pose after meal or during your Antenatal workout session.
Walking is a very good form of exercise which you should include in your routine provided your doctor permits it. This will also alleviate problems like indigestion and gas.
You can talk to your doctor about some safe laxatives in pregnancy like Isabgol. Also, if Iron supplements are causing the problem then you can ask your doctor about taking slow releasing Iron supplements. You can also talk to your doctor for magnesium supplements for constipation.
I hope all these natural measures help. Happy Motherhood!! Read more

Hey, are you a Super mom or just a mom?
You must have seen in some tv show a flying women with wings and a mask to hide her identity and saving the world. Cut two, she is seen doing her normal household chores with all the love and dedication. Who is that a Super Woman or a Wonder Woman? I would say it is definately a Super Mom. Specially, during this lockdown is proving how a mom can handle Because we mom's can stretch all our limits and go beyond to save our kids and family in any good or bad situation.
During this lockdown the amount of work pressure a mom is going through, no superhero can ever handle that, I can bet on that. She is the only one getting up early to do all the cleaning, cooking meals non stop and not to forget some amazing delicacies, getting kids ready for online class. And if you another small one at home all the more merrier. But the most important thing to handle so many what's app chat groups one after another. One for grocery, one for veggies, school messeges, milk, eggs and so on and on. The number of groups I have joined during this lockdown is not a joke. Yes, I make sure my home is a mini store where all the things are available all the time. Seriously the amount of maggi I have saved it's not a jor ke. Btw it's out of stock in pantry.😀
Our work never ends be it lunch, evening snacks, dinner and the non stop munching, we have to be ready all the time. A mom is the only person who is working the most during this difficult period.
Sometimes her body also gives up and asks her to rest but her mind is working 24*7 and as I said she is a super mom who won't stop.
I don't have wings to fly but I know how to stretch out all my limits to protect my family and help my friends in some way virtually. And also sometimes do things that makes me happy.
Hats off to all the Super Mom's out there who is proving we can do anything in any situation.

All About a Healthy Pregnancy - A Small Initiative to Help You Out
Hello to all the beautiful moms-to-be!
There is a message I need to pass to all the mommies to be out there – “Remember this is the most beautiful nine months of your life. You will be pampered by everyone and everywhere, whether strangers or family members; hence, make the best of this time, eat healthily, and get pampered.”
To ensure healthy eating, it is best to increase the intake of liquid. The more the liquid intake, the more it would be great for the baby and the new mommy. You can have lime juice, fruit juices, coconut water, or even plain water. Consuming liquid is very good for the baby’s skin and hair. Keeping eating all kinds of dry fruits is very important to develop the baby’s overall growth. Eat green leafy vegetables and almost everything you want your baby to eat because the mother’s eating pattern is connected to the baby’s. In between, if you crave to eat junk like pizza, burger, or ‘vada pau,’ you can have it at times.
Expecting moms also need to keep one thing in mind – “be active, be involved in physical activities, go walking with your partners (a romantic walk indeed).” You can also read good books to keep your mind fresh. Maintain the habit of reading aloud so that the baby can hear too; listen to good music that can make a great difference to your and baby’s mental health.
When I was pregnant, I followed all these routines. However, my physical activities were not that much, so I ended up having a C section because the baby’s head was not coming down. So, I request all you moms-to-be to walk regularly, eat well, and rest well; then, you do not need to go through what I went through.
Keep going, mommies; there is a lot on the way. Remember to enjoy yourself and stay happy.
