Taking a Betnesol Injection During Pregnancy - Is It Safe?
Preterm labour can lead to the problems of the heart, lungs, and brain in a newborn. But nowadays, there are certain drugs available that can help delay labour. Many doctors consider administering Betnesol injections to a new mother. However, a Betnesol injection is administered only if its benefits outweigh the risk. If you are pregnant, you should know whether these injections are safe or not.
What is Betnesol?
Betnesol (betamethasone sodium phosphate) is a corticosteroid used for treating hormonal imbalance, inflammatory conditions, and autoimmune diseases. Insufficiency of corticosteroids, in general, has a significant impact on our body. They have many vital functions in the body like, regulating salt, balancing the water, regulating stress levels, and ensuring the proper functioning of the heart. This injection is administered in emergency situations to gain quick control of the symptoms.
Is It Safe to Take Betamethasone Injections During Pregnancy?
A Betnesol injection is given during pregnancy only if there is no alternative treatment available for a prenatal complication. Administering a Betnesol injection to a pregnant woman can pose risks to her baby as it is known to cross the placenta and affect the unborn child. It is best avoided in any form (injections or topical creams) unless recommended by a doctor. It is best to consult a gynaecologist about the risks involved and ask about alternatives.
Caution: It should not be taken without consulting a doctor.
When Is Betnesol Used?
Betnesol or betamethasone injection is prescribed if the following complications arise during pregnancy.
1. Preterm Labour
Preterm labour is a common complication during pregnancy. If the baby is born before 32-35 weeks of pregnancy, his lungs will not be completely developed, and hence won’t function properly. When the doctor suspects that a pregnant woman will go into premature labour, she will administer these injections to ensure that the baby’s lungs inflate easily without sticking together. It is usually given 24 hours before the expected preterm labour.
2. Fetal Fibronectin Test (FFT)
Fetal fibronectin is a protein that helps amniotic sac stick to the lining of the uterus. The amniotic sac cushions the baby in the uterus. But when it disrupts, the fetal fibronectin may be released into secretions near the cervix. This can obstruct the growth of the baby and lead to a miscarriage or preterm labour. During pregnancy, your doctor may suggest a fetal fibronectin test between 22 and 34 weeks, and take a swab of your secretions to check for the presence of fibronectin. If the test is positive, you might go into premature labour. The test is done before administering Betnesol. Betnesol will most likely be given to you if you are expecting twins or multiple babies.
Dosage
The dosage is determined after checking the medical history of a pregnant woman. Your doctor can take a call after understanding your case history. If your doctor foresees the probability of some complications, he may advise injections. Therefore, it is best to discuss the pros and cons of this treatment with your doctor.
How Is Betnesol Given?
Betnesol can be administered in the following ways:
It is injected directly into the veins or muscles to produce an effect throughout the body. This is done through drips. The dosage and duration will depend on the case and complications.
It can be applied topically on the affected area to reduce inflammation. In some cases, it is directly injected into the inflamed tissue.
The medication is never given on a long-term basis. It may be prescribed for a few days or maybe for 2-3 weeks. But it should not be stopped abruptly. It should be tapered slowly to reduce the intensity of any withdrawal symptoms.
Complications
Mentioned below are some side effects that you may notice during pregnancy if you are administered Betnesol injections.
Betnesol is a corticosteroid, which is known to reduce the body’s natural immunity and inflammatory responses. Hence, if you are taking Betnesol, you might be more susceptible to infections.
Giving high doses of Betnesol can lead to mood swings and behavioural changes. If you have been administered Betnesol injection, you might become more irritable, depressed, confused. You may even have trouble falling asleep.
It might affect your baby’s growth and development. It can lead to a delay in your baby's growth and affect his heart rate and movements.
If Betnesol is given in high doses, it may pass on to the baby while you breastfeed him and affect his adrenal gland-producing steroid hormones.
In addition to injections, it can enter your body through other mediums too. If you use certain skin creams containing Betnesol (even in small quantity), it may be absorbed by your skin and may affect the baby. Therefore, it is suggested that you consult a doctor before using any steroid creams.
After reading this, we hope you have a fair idea about Betnesol injections and will avoid taking them at all cost during pregnancy and even after delivery. Talk to your gynaecologist to understand the severity of the condition and the risks involved. Ask about the alternative treatments which are safe.

Deportment and culpability for the grownup as well as parents during this pandemic

Hello everyone! Hope all are doing well although this covid has made our life hell and effected almost each family during its second wave. But as we know this phase will also go soon, time is not same always.
Today i just want to share my own experience with my 4yr old boy as he is suffering alot being in lockdown since more than 1 month.Getting stubborn day by day and wanting of new toys as he can't go out to play and sometimes become so agressive too.I know many moms are going through this situation in this pandemic sometimes we start scolding as we need to do other household work also but the need of the hour is not this..Yes its very important for us to understand the exact mindset of our kids this time and make them feel good instead of making their feel worsen by loosing the temper on them.
For all grownup kids we need to understand that they are kids only so making nuisance and all is their nature by default so we should not scold them for that.Being polite with kids and telling them to do something will surely help.We should play indoor games with them so that they don't feel alone.Tell them about good manners by giving various examples of self making stories and teach them about responsibility. We should also keep in mind while we teach our child about manners and responsibility we should first need to follow it.If we ourself not doing this and abusing and fighting in front of them then how we can expect our kid yo behave nicely with us.So as all the kids are home we should control our anger, agression every emotion that could effect our kids mind as they are in grownup stage they learn from whay they see daily what they do is the 90% learned from their parents right .So during this covid we should pay attention to our kids alot as being locked at home they become stubborn and agressive.
The best way to make children feel good is to make them happy in whatever situation we are. Read more

Time to Paint Away your Wood Furniture Woes
There’s something about wooden furniture that has its own special appeal. Even when it seems to be falling apart, a touch of paint can restore it to its former beauty. While it might seem like a daunting task, it hardly is if you adopt the best way to paint wooden furniture.
Oak coffee tables, rosewood dressers, teak dining tables - they are the owner’s pride! Exquisite wood furniture does not come cheap. So when you have something that’s a vintage piece, it definitely is worth holding onto. If you’d like to try your hand at giving it a fresh coat of paint, here are some helpful step-by-step tips offering the perfect way to reinvent your old furniture.
Easy Tips for Painting Wood Furniture
Step 1
The first step in order to paint wooden furniture is to select an open space to do the job. If you have to work from inside the house then choose a place with lots of open windows to allow for plenty of ventilation. Place old sheets or newspapers on your work space to prevent stains and splotches.
Step 2
If you’re going to be painting wooden tables with drawers, a bed stand or chest of drawers, you should remove any hardware or knobs attached to it. It ensures that the hardware remains paint-free especially if you want to use the same piece.
Step 3
Give the piece of furniture a thorough wipe down to remove any trace of dust or dirt, which may have accumulated over time. Next, apply wood filler to any part of the furniture that has been chipped or pitted with holes. Allow it to dry. Then sand the entire piece with sand paper till it appears smooth. It's an important part in the process of painting wooden furniture, so make sure you’ve got a pair of gloves and goggles on.
Step 4
After sanding the furniture, wipe it down again to remove any remaining residue on the surface. You can use a brush for the purpose although a clean damp cloth works best.
Step 5
To begin your wood painting process, we recommend the use of primer first, for a nice, even and long lasting look. Using a roller, apply the primer over the large surface areas. Use a paintbrush to cover the edges and corners. Allow the primer to dry and sand over any rough edges before you can start with the painting.
Step 6
Start painting using a foam roller first followed by a paintbrush. The best paint for wooden furniture is typically a water-based one, which is more user friendly. Using the roller, apply a coat of paint to even surfaces of the furniture. Using a paintbrush thereafter, go over the area with even strokes paying special attention to areas that have been missed out. Let the first coat of paint dry completely before you can apply the second coat and let it dry overnight.
Once you know how to paint old wooden furniture, getting down to the task doesn’t take much doing. As long as you have the correct tools, space required and the right type of paint for wood, you’re good to go! Read more
