How Long Should You Wait to Get Pregnant After a Caesarean Delivery?
Giving birth to a baby is a beautiful experience, albeit harrowing for some women. As much as you might want to have a natural delivery, the thought of the pain and other complications might drive you towards having a caesarean delivery instead. Apart from by choice, certain complications (such as the baby being in the breech position) may lead to your doctor advising you to undergo a C-section. As a C-section is a major surgical procedure, it comes with its own set of risks and dangers, and you will need to consider these to conceive your next child safely. This article will help you understand the complications of C-sections that might influence future pregnancies, and how to deal with them.
What Is a Caesarean Section (C-section) ?
A caesarean section is an invasive surgical procedure employed to deliver the baby from the abdominal region rather than from the vagina. In this procedure, the surgeon makes an incision on the woman’s abdomen. Once the uterus is visible, a small cut is made, and the baby is pulled out. Due to the location of the incision, it is also known as a bikini cut. Just like any other serious operation, a C-section can also lead to internal bleeding, pain, and scars. You may feel fatigued and have fever post the surgery.
What Should Be the Ideal Time Gap Between Two Pregnancies?
Conceiving after a C-section requires an ample amount of time, especially if you plan to give birth vaginally, known as ‘Vaginal Birth After C-section’ or VBAC. Normally, doctors recommend waiting for a period of one to three years after a caesarean operation before trying to get pregnant again, with the average wait time being eighteen months. The recommended time gap should be longer if you had faced complications during your previous pregnancy, labour, or delivery. This period is essential for you to give your body ample time to heal from any tears, bleeding, or injuries that you might have obtained during your C-section. The more you wait, the better the chances of having a healthy second pregnancy. Even if you have no intentions of attempting a VBAC, it is crucial to allow your body to recover completely before planning for a second pregnancy after a C-section.
Why Is a Time Gap Required?
There are many reasons why you should wait for a couple of years before trying for another child. A few of these reasons are stated below :
1. To AllowYour Body to Heal Completely
Your body might take a significant amount of time to heal completely after a caesarean section. A major complication is the considerable loss of blood post surgery. This substantial bleeding might lead to anaemia, which can affect your health and impact your future deliveries too.
2. To Lower Health Complications
In addition to anaemia, multiple health problems such as uterine and placental tearing, having a premature delivery or giving birth to a baby with low birth weight are commonly observed in women who conceive immediately after having a C-section.
3. To Prepare Well for theConception of Your Next Child
Waiting to have your next child will give you enough time to prepare properly. In this time, you can do your research, meet with doctors, read books on pregnancy, and do everything you can to plan better for your next child. You should also take care of your mental and physical health during this time.
4. To Overcome Depression
You may feel depressed and weak post your C-section delivery. This may affect your next pregnancy if you decide to conceive immediately after. Taking a break before your next pregnancy will allow you enough time to work on your mental health.
Risks Associated With Getting Pregnant After a C-section
Studies have shown that getting pregnant within 18 months of undergoing a C-section can make you susceptible to the following risks:
1. Uterine Tearing
Having a VBAC before the stipulated time gap can put you at the risk of a ruptured uterus. This is because the uterus requires a considerable amount of time to heal from the C-section.
2. Placental Abruption
This condition occurs when the placenta tears off from the uterine wall, leading to severe internal bleeding.
3. Preterm Labour
It’s possible for women to have a VBAC after a C-section; however, if this occurs within 18 months of a caesarean delivery, they could go into premature labour around the 37th week of pregnancy.
4. Placenta Praevia
In this condition, the placenta sticks to the lower uterine wall, blocking the cervix and hindering labour.
What If You Get Pregnant Soon After a C- section?
In spite of the risks involved, getting pregnant soon after a C-section should not be a cause of concern. Most women go through their second pregnancy by following a set of rules that help them avoid any risks. Women over thirty years of age can try to get pregnant even sooner as fertility levels begin to taper off around this age, making it harder to conceive. However, ensure that you consult a doctor before making any decision.
How to Increase Your Chances of Pregnancy
You may have various reasons for wanting to get pregnant soon after a C-section. However, you should check with your doctor first to make sure you are healthy and ready for another pregnancy as you might need additional nutritional and hormonal support to improve your chances of conceiving. Here are some tips that you can try at home to have a successful second pregnancy.
1. Increase Your Vitamin Intake:
Increase your vitamin intake post delivery, as a C-section may drain the nutrients out of your blood. Taking vitamin and mineral supplements such as folic acid, Vitamin B-complex, calcium and iron should help you get back on track again.
2. Analyse Your Cycle:
Your menstrual cycle will take a while to return to its regular schedule post delivery. This happens due to the flux of pregnancy hormones in your bloodstream. If you want to get pregnant soon, make sure you monitor your cycle very carefully to know the exact period of ovulation.
3. Follow a Healthy Lifestyle:
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle will keep you in the best shape for enduring a pregnancy right after a C-section. Do not consume alcohol and tobacco; stick to a balanced diet, and meditate to lower stress levels.
4. Try to Relax After Having Sex:
Conception does not always depend on sex positions; you need to relax too. There will be a higher chance of conception if you take a breather after sex. Lie down on your back for about half an hour, giving the sperm ample time to enter the uterus.
Can You Have a Vaginal Delivery After a C-section?
In the past, many women have opted for multiple caesarean sections as they were considered the safest alternatives. However, these days, women are more inclined to having a VBAC as they are just as safe. Also, giving birth vaginally helps you heal much faster as compared to having a C-section. But there are several aspects that should be considered before you opt for a vaginal birth:
Medical history and previous complications
Possibility of uterine rupture
Reason(s) behind the initial caesarean section
The type of cut made in the abdomen and uterine wall
The rate at which your wounds heal
Things to Remember
Pregnancy can be a very difficult time for some women but you need not stress yourself out. Here are some tips that will help you stay healthy throughout the nine months of your pregnancy:
Remain stress-free; practise meditation and breathing techniques, and give as much importance to your mental health as you’d give your physical health.
Eat nutritious food. Eat foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals.
Reduce your workload. Do not lift heavy objects and avoid taking up tiring
Lastly, don’t forget your medical appointments, especially in the third trimester.
The complications mentioned above may scare you, but it is important that you’re aware of them before you plan for another pregnancy. And if you think you are ready to have another child, the best thing to do would be to consult your doctor at the earliest.

10 Easy and Fun Monsoon Craft Ideas Your Kid will Enjoy
Kids enjoy playing in the rain during monsoon. It is impossible to stop them, but keeping their health in mind, it is important to stop them from going out. And when you do that, they remain cooped up at home all day. Since there is no school and no outdoor activity, your kid ends up watching television or playing video games. The good news is that you can keep your child entertained and occupied for the entire day even during monsoons. We have several ideas to turn a boring rainy day into fun.
10 Engaging Rainy Day Craft Ideas for Your Children
Here are a few amazing craft ideas for your children on those dull and gloomy rainy days:
1. Rainy Day Image Art
You can use old papers for this artwork. Ask your kid to cut out shapes of clouds, raindrops and a rainbow. Paint these shapes in beautiful colours and let them dry. While the shapes dry, prepare a nice background in blue colour using old papers. Now glue these shapes on this background. Glue the clouds one on top of the other so that it gives a nice 3D effect.
2. Rainy Day Vegetable Painting
This is a really fun rainy day craft for 4-year-olds! Use a white sheet of paper as the base and keep some watercolours ready on a palette. You can use bright colours like yellow, red, green, blue, pink, etc. You can dip vegetables in the paint to make creative designs on paper, like a ladyfinger to make beautiful flowers on the paper, corn to make the grass, a thick carrot cutout in the shape of a cloud, etc. Finally, complete the painting with some rain droplets.
3. Rainy Day Rainbow
Kids love watching the rain and rainbow! So what’s better than indulging in a rainbow art on a wet rainy day? Use VIBGYOR (Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red) colours to make a fresh rainbow on a white paper. You can even ask the kids to draw some clouds, a mountain, a lake and rain droplets to make it a scenic landscape painting.
4. Real Umbrella Painting
It's quick, easy and involves tonnes of fun! All you need is an umbrella, preferably a white coloured umbrella and some acrylic colours and paint pens. Now let your kids paint something interesting on the umbrella, like rainbow colour polka dots, rain droplets, flowers, tiny umbrellas, etc. Let your imaginations fly high with this unique art technique.
5. Butterfly Foot Painting
One of the perfect rainy day crafts for preschoolers! Let your little one make a beautiful butterfly with his tiny feet merely by stepping in colour and then onto the sheet.
6. Rainy Day Girl With An Umbrella
This fun activity requires a lot of effort on your part as well as your kid's part. You will need two chart papers, one white one yellow, sketch pens, a pair of child-friendly scissors, colourful crepe papers, glue, white base paper and brown paint. You can cut out the shapes of hands, arms, boots, face and a dress from the yellow chart paper. Next, cut out an umbrella from the white coloured chart paper and some rain droplets from blue crepe paper. Now ask your kids to glue this to the white coloured paper. Use sketch pens to highlight the features of the girl on the face and on the boots. The fun part here is that you can ask your kids to roughly tear the colourful crepe papers and glue them onto the surface of the umbrella while the lower umbrella stick can be painted in brown.
7. Paper Boats
Remember how you used to make paper boats during your childhood days. Similarly, start making tiny paper boats with your kids. Use different coloured craft papers to make those boats look more appealing!
8. Rainy Day Hand Printed Umbrella
This is another interesting fun art for those indoor rainy days. Kids have tiny little hands, which are perfect for making hand-printed umbrellas! Cover the entire palm of your kid with paint or alternatively just dip into the paint and keep the hand in a closed position while he prints it on the base paper. Your asymmetric hand-printed umbrellas are ready. Use a marker to highlight the folds of the umbrella, draw a handle and some raindrops!
9. Rainy Day Paper Plate Tortoise
Take a paper plate and turn it upside down. This will be the shell of the tortoise. Ask your kids to roughly pour different bright colour paint on the shell and keep it in the rain for a few minutes. After a few minutes, you will find a unique droplet pattern on the shell, keep it aside to dry. Next, take a chart paper and cut out a turtle's face, four legs, and a tail. Now glue them on the inside of the paper plate. Your rainy day paper plate tortoise is ready to entertain you.
10. Rainy Day Paper Collage Art
Take up colourful paper sheets and roughly tear the pages into tiny bits. You can also use colourful cupcake liners to cut out umbrella sheets. Next, draw an outline or images related to rains like clouds, rainbow, flowers, rain droplets, tiny tots walking with an umbrella etc. on a white paper and let your kids glue these tiny pieces onto the image. Paper collage art is cool, unique, and most importantly it keeps kids engaged for hours.
Your kids will surely love these super-cute and funny ideas. Go ahead, indulge in these creative activities with your kids and create lovely memories for a lifetime!

3. Promote the health of the heart
Apricots help reduce bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol making your baby’s heart healthy. Moreover, the potassium content in apricots helps balance the electrolyte levels in the body thereby keeping the heart muscles in order.
4. Treat infections

How to Choose Apricots for Your Baby
Note these points before you buy apricots for your baby.
Dried Apricots
Buy organic dried apricots.
If you are not buying organic apricots, then make sure there is no sulphur dioxide used to retain the orange colour in non-organic apricots. Sulphur dioxide can cause allergies and respiratory problems in babies.
Organic apricots are darker than the non-organic ones, so the darker the better.
Canned Apricots
Choose canned apricots which are not dipped in syrup because that would be too much of unwanted sugar for your baby.
If buying canned apricot fruit juice, go for the one which does not have sugar.
Fresh Apricots
Look for the ones that have a golden colour and are firm.
Avoid buying apricots that are pale yellow or greenish yellow.
Apricots which are very soft and mushy or look shrivelled should not be bought.
How to Store Apricots for Baby Food
Here are a few tips to store apricots:
Keep it in the refrigerator to avoid over-ripening of the fruit. In this way, you can keep it fresh for a week.
If you have left-over of the mashed apricot or puree, refrigerate it in non-BPA containers for 3-4 days.
Do You Need to Peel Apricots for Your Baby?
There is no real need to peel an apricot before giving it to your baby as a finger food or even making a puree of it. The peel of the fruit is velvety in texture and absolutely edible. However, if you do not want your baby to eat the fruit with the outer cover, you can peel it. The easiest way is to put the fruit in boiling water for some time and then dip it in ice water. This procedure will loosen the peel and help it to come off easily.
How to Cook Apricots for Baby Food
Baking apricots are one way to cook them. You need to cut apricots into two halves, remove the seed and keep the cut side down in a baking dish filled with about 1 inch of water. Bake at a temperature of 400°F until the fruit becomes soft.
The other way is by steaming the apricots or putting the fruits in boiling water for a few minutes. After taking the apricots out from the water, run them under cold water and the skin of the fruit easily gets peeled. You can either cut them lengthwise and give your baby as a finger food or mash it up roughly and feed her using a spoon.
Can Apricots Cause Allergies in Babies?
Apricot allergy is rare but it does happen. In case your baby is allergic to apricots, the tongue, lips, face or throat swells up and there may also be a tingling sensation in the mouth. Some children may also suffer severe respiratory problem called anaphylaxis.
In case your baby has birch pollen allergy, eating apricots may cause oral allergy syndrome. Even babies who have had apricots without any problem earlier can suddenly suffer symptoms like itching and irritation of the mouth and throat. However, the symptoms usually subside on its own in most cases in this kind of allergy. In few, the symptoms may persist and aggravate to something severe as anaphylaxis.
We may also come across some children who may suffer from colic after eating apricots. However, this is not because of an apricot allergy, it is a sign of intolerance to apricots. It only means that your baby is unable to digest apricots.
Precautions to Take while Giving Apricots to Infants
Listed below are some precautions that you should take before introducing an apricot into your baby’s diet.
A time gap of about a week to two weeks is mandatory in between introducing a new food. By doing so, you will know whether your baby is allergic to a certain food or not. In case of an apricot allergy, the baby will show signs like swelling of the face, tongue, lips, throat, and tingling sensation of the mouth and in case of apricot intolerance, the baby may suffer from loose motion or constipation, nausea, stomach ache, bloating and uneasiness.
If you have kept mashed apricot or puree in the freezer, wait until it thaws and gets back to the room temperature. You should refrain from giving babies anything straight out of the freezer. It is best to give fresh fruit to your baby instead of giving stale fruits.
Nowadays every fruit that we buy from the market is mostly grown with the help of pesticides. Therefore it is imperative to not just wash the fruit in running water but keep the fruit dipped in water for a good half an hour or more before giving it to your little one.
Always give ripe apricots to your baby since unripe ones give out toxins which may cause health problems to your baby.
To retain its orange colour, dried apricots are treated with sulphur dioxide which can be toxic to the baby. Therefore, before giving dried apricots to your baby, always soak it in water for at least half an hour.

Baby or Toddler Waking Up Too Early - What You Can Do
FEATURED IMAGE SS ID: 387025039 (ALT:<Baby or Toddler Waking Up Too Early - What You Can Do>)
No doubt, you love your baby with all your heart but sometimes it may get difficult to understand what your little one is trying to convey, doesn't it? If your baby is waking up too early, you will not know why she wakes up too early. This can put your entire day’s schedule off track and ruin what may otherwise have been a great day. But why do babies wake up early in the morning and what can be done to rectify the problem?
What Does Waking Up Early Mean?
Most babies and toddlers wake up between six and eight in the morning. If you find that your baby’s time of waking up is slowly getting earlier, you may have a problem on your hands that could be caused due to many different factors.
Reasons Why Your Child Is Waking Up Too Early
Here are a few reasons for early morning waking in babies, and a few suggestions about what to do about it.
1. Teething
Waking up early is one of the first sleep-related symptoms of teething.
What To Do
When your little one is awake, try to get her teething objects so to alleviate the pain. A washcloth that has been frozen can work wonders as well. During sleep time, try Ibuprofen or Tylenol so that your baby will be able to sleep for long hours.
2. Environmental Factors
For both babies and adults alike, the early morning hours of sleep are much lighter and so environmental factors such as noise from outside, songs of the birds, traffic or sunlight coming in through the window, may result in your toddler getting up too early.
What To Do
If your baby is disturbed by noise, then your best bet is to try and buffer any sound that comes in by using a fan, a radio, or a machine to play monotonous music all through the night. If sunlight is the problem, invest in some thick curtains that will keep the sunlight out until opened, or you can always opt for covering the window screen with newspapers or blackout blinds.
3. Insufficient Naps
Children under the age of three need to take naps during the day in addition to their nightly sleep to get the full amount of sleep required. If they miss out on any naps or take too many, it could lead to them waking up early.
What To Do
Try to get your little one to take longer naps during the day, but if that is not possible, you should try to put her to bed an hour early every night so that she can make up for the lost sleep.
4. Hunger
If your baby is under nine months of age and is still being breastfed, then your baby will need to be fed at night. Generally, after four months of age, a baby will need to eat once or twice during the night but not more than that. If your baby is hungry, she may wake up and cry.
What To Do
If your baby wakes up hungry, it could be that she has developed an association with breastfeeding and sleep. You can break the habit by introducing a bottle to her.
SS ID: 663372208 (ALT:<Baby drinking milk through a bottle>)
5. Overtiredness
A consistent bedtime routine works well for children, but often parents wait to put them to bed until they see the child yawning or rubbing their eyes. This can lead to their little one being overtired. The child may sleep as soon as you put her to bed but she may wake up in between or early in the morning.
What To Do
Most infants and toddlers sleep between 6 pm and 7 pm. But if you make your little one sleep before that she will get enough sleep. If she wakes up earlier, you can always treat it as a night awakening and tell her it is still night and that it is still sleep-time.
6. Stress
Stress makes a child work harder to function, which causes the body to release stress hormones like Cortisol. Cortisol makes babies cranky and over-alert, causing them to wake frequently or earlier than usual.
What To Do
Try to find out what is causing the stress to your baby. Sometimes, a change in the routine such as a mother going back to work may child to stress. Pay attention to your child when you are around her, particularly, when she is awake and make her sleep an hour earlier.
7. Nap Transitions
Waking up early is normal during the time of nap transitions as your baby will be getting less sleep during the day.
What To Do
Try to make small changes to your baby’s nap time every day over a period of a week or ten days. Push the morning nap to later, such as 11 or 11:30 and then eventually to twelve at noon. If she wakes up after only an hour but does not seem well rested, soothe her back to sleep and if this doesn’t work, you can always make her sleep early in the evening, i.e. around 7 pm.
8. New Milestones
Sometimes your baby may wake up early and practice her physical or cognitive skills, such as sitting up on her own or playing with one of the toys in her crib.
What To Do
Do not interrupt or respond to your baby as long as she is not fussing. This should pass naturally in one or two weeks.
SS ID: 84639496 (ALT:<A happy baby in her crib>)
What If Your Baby is Waking Up Too Early Yet Happy and Contented - Should You Worry?
Generally, if your baby wakes up by or after 6 am in the morning and is happy and full of energy, your baby does not have a sleeping problem. This is age appropriate when it comes to the development of your baby if she is getting undisturbed sleep at night and the proper amount of nap time during the day.
What If Your Child is Waking Up Within 30 Minutes of Desired Wake Up Time - Should You Worry?
Some babies tend to wake up half an hour before their desired wake up time and if you have a two-year-old waking up too early you may be dealing with a case where it is time to either shorten the nap time or drop one of the naps from your baby’s schedule as she may be getting too much sleep. However, no two children are the same and some children may prefer to have long naps. If you have a 3-year-old waking up too early and is still in the habit of napping for long periods of time during the day, it may be time for some change.
Once you have established what is causing your baby to wake up early, you can try to fix the problem. Remember that sometimes children develop the habit of early rising that lasts for only a few weeks because they are going through some changes such as reaching a new milestone. However, if this habit has been continuing for weeks or months, you may have to think about rescheduling their nap time and bedtime to help solve the problem.

Milestones To Be Achieved After Delivery- Breastfeeding
I think most moms will agree that the most challenging time is the time after delivery. The biggest adventure of life begins here. Total adjustment with sleeping hours, cellphones, friend circle, outfits, etc. Most of us have that happy wala 9 months then delivery also quite easy but after that stitches pain, sleepless nights, and obviously breastfeeding.
For me, breastfeeding was too much challenging. During my C-section, doctors observed that my muscles were too weak. I was exposed to the risk of incisional hernia. On one side I was so happy to have that little life in my hand and on another side unable to carry him even once due to hernia.
I was sad as I could not celebrate the arrival of my champ as I had thought. It had a direct impact on my breastfeeding. My little one was remaining hungry and crying and this made me guilty all the time. It was the 3rd day of delivery and my breast became so heavy and painful. My little prince was unable to latch and on the other side mom and aunty and their traditional practice of massage to the breast. I can still feel those painful vibrations. Next day with doctor meeting she tried to take out milk with dull injection I literally screamed. Gradually everything started settling down. It was just 20 days and I had a breast infection. The doctor said if it would not be cured by 24 hours then I have to go for surgery. I was just praying God and was very guilty as I could not feed my baccha on time.
Tough time was yet to come. I was diagnosed with umbilical hernia. That pain of stitches and hernia and on the other side breastfeeding issue. The happiest moment turned into a sad one.
I was less concerned about my health as I had to be strong for my little champ.
Days were passing, we both were adjusting with each other and with the support of family members, everything started soothing. Today my champ has completed 9 months journey. With all good and bad we both are happily living together.
Tough time will always come but we have to be strong.
So to all lovely mothers, be strong and bold enough to fight with all the problems.

A. Start having chilled milk directly from the refrigerator that usually helps a lot in reducing down acidity and anyways when you take so much of medicine in the body gets addicted to it to check with your doctor if you need to do anything or any other medication would be friendly in cases of emergency
