20 Innovative Photography Ideas for Kids
Photography is all about capturing the emotional experience that is felt by the person who is photographed. Taking photographs of kids is a fun-filled activity and it can be enjoyed by all the participants. This is because kids are unrestrained and have no hesitation in expressing their feelings. We've come up with some fun and creative photo shoot ideas that'll have your little munchkins showing all their pearly whites not just for the photos, but all day long.
20 Creative Kids Photoshoot Ideas
1. Bubbles
Bubbles can fascinate just about any child; it doesn't matter if they are 6-months-old or 6-years-old. It is an economic photo shoot as all that is required is a bubble blower. Try going for a dark background since it is difficult to capture bubbles against a light background.
2. Balloons
Adding balloons to your photo shoot can be an easy way to add a burst of color and extra bit of sparkle to your images. Try going for red or pink heart-shaped balloons to give the pictures a feminine touch. Please note that the intensity of smiles and happiness is directly proportional to the number of balloons available. The more, the happier!
3. Pretty Angel
For little girls, this makes for an adorable photo. Dress them up in a pretty frock, a star in their hands, wings on their back and a cute crown. Go for a pink or white outfit and your little girl is guaranteed to look like she's fallen from the heavens above!
4. Baby in Jelly Beans
Heard of candid photography? Put out a jar of their favourite jelly beans or sweets, and take a few snaps as they stuff their faces with it. The look of joy on their face is going to be priceless!
5. Fruits
Who said kings, queens and aristocrats were the only ones who were allowed to take portraits of themselves with fruits next to them? There are different ways that you could go about this. For infants, take pictures of them staring at a large watermelon that is almost as big as them! Kids that are a little older? Try taking pictures of them tasting exotic fruits that they have never tried before. Make sure you take the snap just as they take their first bite and comprehend its taste.
6. Bunny Baby
Are your babies the most adorable things ever? Of course! Get them dressed up in a bunny suit with the fluffy ears and let them go wild with some bunny poses and make sure you have a carrot that they can nibble on as well!
7. Just Hatched
Baskets and crates are perfect for photographing newborns. These ones are relatively easy to take as your baby needs to be sleeping. You can put them in a basket with a sticker that says "Newly delivered" or "Fragile: Handle with care". Make sure these are done by professionals only.
8. Mirror
Do you have access to large mirrors for a limited time? Then this might be of some use to you. Place two mirrors on either side of your children so that it looks as if there are loads of them in the same room. Watch their inner fashionistas spring out!
9. Playing with Mud
Are your little ones just discovering mud? This one might a little difficult to do as a parent, but eating mud is something that every kid tries at least once. Make sure you capture the moment. You can frown as they put the mud inside their mouths just to see how they react to it and take a picture of the same.
10. Stacking
If you have multiple kids at home, then this idea will work out better. Make them stand according to their height. You can make things a little amusing by making them all wear the same clothes.
11. At the Beach
A trip to the beach is a fun experience for kids of all ages. You can decide on the mood of the shoot based on the time. Go for a sunrise/sunset if it's serious. Go mid-day if you want to make it all about fun and rich with colour. Feel free to add a beach ball and let your kids go wild!
12. Bubble Bath
Bath time is the best photo shoot idea for boys and girls. Make sure you add some extra soap to get a big, frothy bath. The large amounts of bubbles will have your kids so full of excitement that they are bound to lose any feeling of being camera-shy.
13. Giant Lollipops
'As happy as a kid at a candy store' is an expression that is used often and not without meaning. If your children have a sweet tooth, find the biggest lollipop that you can find and capture their delight when they see it!
14. Child with Pet
Do you have a family pet that is the object of your kids' attention? The enthusiastic family dog or the unimpressed cat are both equally good options to take a photo with.
15. Fluffy Dress
Little girls love twirling their pretty dresses. Snaps of the cute little girl twirling, playing with her skirt, and showing off her cute little footwear will be an amazing idea.
16. Silly Captures
Kids tend to do funny and silly things like jumping up and down for no reason or spontaneously getting into a funny pose. Keep your camera close by and capture these silly and candid moments as and when they happen.
17. School Time
Waiting for the bus on their first day of school is an unforgettable day. They might be a little scared, so make sure you keep their focus on the brand new bag and water bottle. Be excited for them and they're bound to show that excitement to you! Capture the moment as they wave goodbye with bright smiles!
18. With Books
Have bookworms in the family? Take a picture of them with their entire book collection for a later day.
19. Playground Fun
If you're in a new neighbourhood and your kids see a playground with their favourite swings, let them go for it. Make sure you capture a couple of shots while they have fun swinging around the jungle gym and slides!
20. FootNotes
Make your kids all sit down with the sole of their feet towards the camera. Use a sketch pen to write the words "We heart(symbol) Dad" or "We heart(symbol) Mom".
These are some great kids' photography ideas that you could try out when you have the time. Have loads of fun while getting your kids to pose for these fun themes; they make for wonderful memories once the kids are all grown up!

Diaper Bag Checklist - What Should Go in Your Baby's Diaper Bag
Whenever you end up taking your baby outside or are travelling elsewhere with your little one, it isn’t as simple as taking your stuff and leaving right away. A baby might be a tiny little being, but the number of things you need to carry along with you, to ensure that he is taken care of throughout the trip or the journey, can easily get your overwhelmed. By knowing what to pack in the diaper bag of your child, you can memorize the list, put them all in a place where you can get them easily and resort to travelling with a comparatively less anxious mind and a much happier baby.
The Ultimate Diaper Bag Essentials List
In order to give you a headstart when packing up the diaper bag for your child, we have put together an effective list based on the child’s age that can help you to some degree.
0-6 Months
For a newborn, the diaper bag checklist usually contains a lot of nappies and feeding items since that is pretty much what newborn babies tend to do throughout.
1. A Small Shawl
Your baby is going to sleep off at the most random times and the place where you are might not have the right temperature to help him sleep peacefully. Using a light shawl that you regularly have can help him keep warm when it’s cold and the smell and texture will make him feel safe.
2. Sanitizer
When traveling, you will have to keep taking care of your baby throughout. Maintaining hygiene is easy at home but the availability of clean soap and water when you are out may not be guaranteed. It is best to carry a sanitizer so that you can clean your hands quickly and attend to your child.
3. Extra Shirt and Pads for Breasts
Yes, you do need to carry certain items for yourself as well. If your breasts end up leaking or your little one throws up a bit after a feed, you don’t want to walk around with those stains on your top. Keep a change of clothes and some extra pads to soak the leakage.
4. Clean Cloths
Feeding cycles will repeat and so will burps that will occasionally throw up a little milk. Instead of spoiling your clothes repetitively, make use of a clean cloth that can help catch any spit of your child.
5. Extra Baby Clothes
Surprises come unannounced and your little one is adept at it. He could pee even while you are changing the diaper or spray milk all over himself, spoiling the clothes. Don’t let him sit with those and carry spare clothes around that can be changed conveniently.
6. Disposable Bag
All those dirty diapers, used cloth, unclean wipes need to be disposed of away properly and throwing them just anywhere is not the right way to do it. Use a disposable bag to keep them in and then dispose them at a dustbin when you spot one.
7. Cream for Diaper Rash
At times, it might not be easy to change a soiled diaper right away and your baby might have to stay with one for a while. This could give rise to a diaper rash and irritate him. Carry a cream for the rash so that he can get some relief quickly when you change the diaper.
8. Compact Pad
While handling your baby, you need a firm surface to keep him or the other objects safe and within reach. There are collapsible compact pads you can use that fit in the bag easily and can be unfolded when they have to be used.
9. Baby Wipes
Wet wipes are highly recommended over any kind of cloth or cleaning material. Not only are they easy to carry and use as well as dispose of away, most of them are also medicated and have a nice fragrance to them that make things a million times better.
10. Diapers
Well, it is called a diaper bag for a reason. Pooping is what will constitute the majority of your newborn baby’s life in the initial months. Don’t risk keeping him without a diaper for your clothes and his can be easily spoiled. Change diapers the moment you get the chance.
6-12 Months
Apart from all the essentials mentioned for the newborn child, once your baby is more than 6 months old, there are a few more items you need to carry along as well.
1. A Book
Your baby might need some distraction while he is feeding or just lying around. Keep his favourite book along with you so that you can read it out to him and show him the colourful pictures as well.
2. A Toy
You might need to grab a nap as well but your little one might be stark awake. Let him keep himself engaged by playing with his favourite toy. If you are traveling, carry a toy that doesn’t make noise so as to avoid disturbing other passengers.
3. Apron
Now that your child can make use of his limbs a lot, he could also be eating solids now. This results in a higher risk of spilling things. Having an apron around his neck can catch these food items that spill and keep him clean.
4. Water Sipper
Babies at this age do tend to drink enough water to keep hydrated since they are not always hungry for milk or so. Carry compact sippers that are unbreakable. You can have more than one to pair water with juices.
5. Small Snacks
Instead of always breastfeeding him while traveling, you can start giving your little one some small snacks to munch on if he gets hungry in the midst of the journey. This is convenient and keeps your baby happy, too.
Diaper Essentials For Toddlers (1 to 3 Years)
A toddler diaper bag checklist is quite different from that of a baby’s since the requirements are a tad unique. However, many items might still be common.
1. Plastic Bags
These have to be carried without a doubt. Beyond diapers, a toddler might end up using a lot more baby wipes or you might need to dispose of snack wrappers and other items as well.
2. Toy Bag
A single toy is never sufficient for a toddler since his mood might change rapidly. Keep a separate bag that has different options to keep your little one engaged.
3. Sanitizer
As much as useful this is for you, a sanitizer is required for your child as well, since he would be curiously touching numerous things around him, which may not always be clean.
4. Napkins
One for cleaning, one for catching food, one for his face, the count of napkins can go up before you know it. Keep enough of them with you.
5. Snacks
Your child can get moody without reason and refuse a nice meal. Rather than go hungry, give him a small snack of his liking and feed him the meal later.
6. Water Sipper
Even if your child can drink from a cup, use a sipper when you are travelling our out of your home so that any untoward risks of a mess are avoided.
7. Clothes
With an overactive child comes the chances of spoiling his clothes with the excitement. Spare clothes are a must no matter how old your baby is.
8. Compact Potty Seat
If your little one has started potty training, don’t let travel interrupt it by using a diaper. Compact seats can help him stay on track with it.
9. Wet Wipes
These are your friends for all times of your life. Not just for your kid, but wet wipes to help you clean your own hands and face and keep yourself refreshed.
10. Diapers
Whether potty training or not, it is best to keep spare diapers along with you if things don’t turn out to be the way you thought they would be.
Diaper Bag Extras
Along with the necessities, there are a few extras you can carry to make your time better.
Camera
Nail cutters
Baby Sling
First aid kit
Tips for Packing a Diaper Bag
When opting for a diaper bag or packing one, keep a few quick tips in mind.
Choose the one that works best for you
Opt for waterproof ones that work in different weathers
Pack liquids in a separate plastic pouch
The more compartments, the better organization possibilities
Once you know how to pack a diaper bag properly in the right way with the right commodities, travelling with your child won’t seem as much as a challenge as it feels now. You will be able to enjoy the smallest moments with your loved one and click photos to treasure the memories.

5 Tips for Teaching Essay Writing for Kids
As kids, we’ve all experienced what it means to write an essay. From choosing a topic to understanding what exactly we know about it, to penning it down on the paper, the entire process has a quite a learning curve initially. The essay writing format for kids has undergone some changes over the years, and your child may require some help to get the grips of the situation by themselves. Writing an essay in itself is one of the first creative challenges any child faces in a curriculum that is highly focused on the logical, scientific and mathematical angles. In such cases, children find themselves in an open pasture with no idea which path to take, where to proceed, and what exactly to say.
How to Teach Essay Writing to Children?
When parents and teachers alike wonder about how to teach essay writing to weak students, it is generally because of being unaware of the basic tips one needs to know to begin writing the same. Here are some handy ones you can employ to help your child write one.
1. Brainstorming
Before writing anything down, one needs to know what exactly they’d like to write. The points that need to be covered, the flow and the structure, needs to be clarified before words can actually be formed on paper. In brainstorming, you can teach your child to make use of mind-maps and start forming associations between the theme and any ideas or words that pop into their head. As more and more ideas start forming on the map, these can then be arranged in a logical flow that makes sense going from one idea to another. Once the structure is in place, building on those points and expressing them, in brief, is all it takes to write an essay.
2. Research
The only aspect better than writing your own ideas is to find newer ones out there. Not all topics can be creative or opinion-based, and even those might require a certain amount of integrity and research to take place. By teaching your child how to research intelligently without browsing on the Internet for random articles, they start developing their thought process and begin answering the questions they have by themselves. Referring to popular quotes or news articles in an essay can strengthen the facts it carries, making it more true and well-read for the teachers themselves.
3. Editing
If writing once is tough, rewriting it to fit certain criteria is even tougher. Editing, however, forces your kid to focus on that which matters most. Stripping away all the flab and keeping only the most important items is necessary for making an essay concise, compact, and not be boring. Editing can also be a starting exercise as well. Give your child existing essays from different books and ask them to edit them down to a concise level. This will give them an idea about which points are the most important and help them save time when they are thinking about their own.
4. Practice, And More Practice
Nothing can teach essay writing better than essay writing itself. As with any discipline, the more one practices, the more one gets the hang of it. While practising, your child will learn to start thinking ahead. While they are completing a section about one point, their mind will automatically be thinking of the next section and formulating points for it. This not only helps maintain a strong structure of logical thought but helps save time during examinations or competitions, that might go waste in thinking blindly without knowing where you’re headed.
5. Keep It Fun
All the practice, all the tips and tricks, all the mind-mapping is absolutely pointless if your child starts hating the very idea of writing an essay. Pushing them constantly to write better and write faster and write and write will burn them out of any ideas or any zest to express an opinion on paper. Just as creating an essay is important, so is consumption and brewing of ideas, too. Let your child take a break from all this. Let them engage in other activities that take their mind off of it. The brain continues to function in the background unknown to us. So that when they return back to the essay with fresh eyes, they will begin to see ideas and patterns that weren’t evident before.
Essay writing is easy for a few kids but quite a challenge to most of them. Governed in a curriculum where there’s only one right answer, most kids cannot see the open creative aspect of writing an essay which allows you to express your thoughts and opinions in the manner of their choosing. The point that there is no “correct” answer for an essay, but only the best answer, is something many children and parents take time to wrap their head around. With constant practice and an open mind that is curious and eager to learn more, essay writing will soon be one of the most natural things your child has ever attempted to do.
