Why Home Schooling is Better Than Traditional Schooling
The concept of homeschooling, though an age-old education practice, has re-gained popularity in recent times, mostly in countries like US, Australia, UK, Japan, Russia and many more, including India. Families who choose to go for home-based education are not dependent on public or tax-funded resources for their child's education. Homeschooling is a very personal and serious decision and above all societal implications. It calls for dedication, hard work and patience to raise home-schooled kids. In case you are wondering whether homeschooling is a better option than the traditional schooling, you may want to read its advantages mentioned in this article.
Parents may choose to homeschool their children for several reasons –they want a greater control and responsibility over what kids are learning, want to spend more time with kids, want to teach religious subjects or may be the child can’t attend a regular school due to illness. Whatever the reason may be, some of the major benefits of homeschooling over traditional schools have been discussed here.
Major Benefits of Homeschooling
1. Customization of Curriculum
At home-based education, curriculum can be tailored according to the child’s needs, capabilities and personality. The areas where the child excels can be expedited whereas weaker areas can be addressed with more focus and additional resources. You can decide what your child learns and when is the best time for him to learn that. This also makes learning enjoyable and exciting for the child with customized learning material and courses.
2. Better Academic Accomplishments
It has been noticed that educational quality has been better in homeschooling than traditional schools. With more personal care and grooming, home-schooled kids tend to pick up things easier than in schools. They show more interest in studies which are more customized to them than the routine-based courses in schools.
3. Stronger Student-Teacher Relationship
Home schooling is considered better in terms of the student-teacher relation. Sometimes, a child might be unable to ask questions to his class teachers due to shyness or other external emotions. This hampers child’s academic performance due to lack of understanding and clarity. However, he might be able to open up more to homeschool parents with their doubts and queries. Hence, his studies are less likely to be affected due to their personal trait of shyness or others. Since, it is managed by parents only, there is more consistency and integrity from both sides.
4. Inculcation of The Better Family and Social Values
Parents are the best people to instill a healthy value system in their child and what better way to do it than through the child’s academics? Teaching family and social values in the formative years of learning helps the child with a strong foundation for life. Sometimes in conventional schools, a child tends to miss out the point of what is good and what is not due to peer pressure or lack of attention from teachers, which is completely taken care in homeschooling.
5. Providing a Safer Environment
Another advantage of homeschooling is - safeguarding a child from the external extremities like physical violence, sexual assault, drugs and alcohol, psychological abuse, etc. With the rising number of such cases in traditional schools, it is extremely important to be able to make a child a better human being alongside imparting good education. Many parents have started to opt for homeschooling to protect their child from the external world where they are vulnerable to unscrupulous people and may not know how to save themselves.
Some of the other advantages of home-based education include - nurturing personal talent of the child, guiding him for better social interaction, helping him become mature through difficult situations, letting him enjoy educational vacations, giving the child adequate study breaks, whenever required, and most importantly, allowing him to enjoy the smaller joys of life through learning and intimacy.
As long as parents make sure that the home-schooled children are getting the required learning and educational experiences, homeschooling can be considered a better alternative to formal school education. Read more

Hi my name is Yasmeen. I am a mother of two kids my elder son is 4 years old and my younger son is 7 months old. Being a mother of two kids was very busy on concentrating on my little one sometimes it was a very hectic day and even frustrating sometimes at that time I started giving mobile phone to my son. Before my second kid he was very active playing kid, socialising with everyone. But suddenly he started feeling lonely because my total time and attention was with my little one. At that time my elder son Ruhaan addicted to mobile phone by watching rhymes in you tube.

We were worried abt our son..Then we had decided to solve this situation so my husband got an idea then he told my son that one of his friends daughter lost his eyes by seeing mobile phone every time by showing him some Google pics in which some babies have large and red eyes means the scary eyes, he saw those pics and got scared to touch mobile phone and his dad also promised him tat he will buy as many toys he want if he stop using mobile phone. That was the deal between dad and son. Finally thankfully my son stopped using mobile phone and he started playing with his toys and little brother ? We are happy parents now. Please my dear parents think wise n help ur kids not to addict mobile phone it can damage your child's brain and eyes.

Dealing with Kids who aren’t Interested in Sports
Physical activity is essential for a child’s development. Although many kids enjoy playing sports, some may not. Parents need to understand what concerns their child and find out alternative options to keep them physically active.
There is no doubt that sports play a major role in keeping your kids fit. However, what parents need to realise is that they cannot force a choice upon their kids. There are many children who do not like to play sports due to various reasons. This must not make parents lose heart; on the contrary, they should discuss with the kid, what other options of physical activity he can explore.
There are enough other activities and kids can be fit without playing team sports too. Parents need to find out what are those other activities that attract their child. This way, parents may be able to help their child with deeper concerns and encourage him to do what he likes. Following are some reasons why some kids do not enjoy sports and the ways to tackle it:
The Child might Still be Developing Basic Skills
Most children do not develop their physical skills, until they are six to seven years old. Before this, they do not have the skills, the attention span and the ability to get hold of the rules required to play organized sports. Kids who haven’t been exposed to a sport at an early age need some extra time to do well in the activity. Failure might make them frustrated and nervous. Practicing with the child at home can help. The child will try, fail and learn the game without being conscious about failing in front of peers. It also makes parents and children spend quality time together.
The Sport or Coach is too Competitive
A kid who does not enjoy playing sports feels even more nervous when his coach shouts and puts extra pressure on kids for making them win a game. Kids can handle competitive aspects of sports as they grow older. But, most kids are not used to the pressure until they enter teenage. They need a healthy and supportive atmosphere to enjoy the sport.
The Child Might Still be Trying to Find Out which Sport He Likes
Some kids don’t enjoy sports, because they still haven’t found out which sport they like. A child who does not have good hand-eye coordination for playing baseball might enjoy some other activity like swimming, running, or cycling. Some kids might find individual activities more appealing. Parents should be open to the interests of the kid and encourage them to do what they like. Exploring various options can help the child invest time in something he enjoys.
Other Barriers
Every child is different. His rate of maturity might be different from others. Kids of the same age may vary in height, weight and athletic ability. A child may be less coordinated or not as strong as other kids of his age, making him feel uncomfortable to compete with them. Kids might also be scared about getting hurt while playing a sport. Overweight kids might be reluctant to participate in a sport in the fear of not being able to catch up with other kids.
Parents need to take out some time and think about the abilities, strengths and temperament of their child. This way, they can find out an activity that matches their child’s interest. Some kids get afraid from a ball, and hence don’t like playing volleyball or softball, but might enjoy running. A child who doesn’t like running might enjoy swimming. Someone who does not like basketball may like gymnastics. Trying to address your child’s concerns and understanding his problems can help him succeed in whatever activity he chooses. So, ensure that you are a supportive parent and do not criticise his choice and his decision. Read more

All about Breastfeeding - My Breastfeeding Journey with my little one
It was almost a week Nihanya was born and I was not to able to breastfeed. We had to give her formula every few hours. I use to check every now and then, if I'm able to produce milk. But it was a failure. I felt myself a failure for the very first time. With few medications and proper diet recommended by my doctor I was able to produce milk after 10 days. That was the happiest day in my life. But then the next problem started. My baby was already used to formula and the next is that she was unable to latch. It really took a long time for Nihanya to get settled with breastmilk and my mom used to push her head firmly towards my nipple for a while and that's how she learnt to latch. And from then it was a beautiful journey and I'm missing those beautiful days where I used to hold my daughter so close to me and it's just a bliss. So mom to be or moms everything is a phase and everything will take time. Each one of us are different. Never hurt yourself.Never compare yourself to anyone. Never let yourself to feel low anytime. Never feel bad to take some help from your family. Never think your a failure. Never give a ear to demotivating talks. Once when your steady, relaxed and calm nothing will go wrong.
