The Travel Buddy That Keeps My Child Healthy and Safe - Bisleri!
My husband works in a leading MNC, so his lifestyle is busy and exhausting to say the least. We would mostly never have family holidays, and I missed seeing newer places. So when my son Shiv turned two, I decided to start travelling again - only now, I wasn’t alone. Shiv and I would pack our bags every three months to visit an unexplored place. I was responsible for Shiv during and after the holiday - no matter what the terrain, his safety was the most important thing for me.
The only constant worry for me was if I was providing him the right food, and most importantly, the right kind of water. While I could carry powders and packaged food, water was something we had to obtain at the location we were travelling to. It wasn’t possible to boil water while on the trip, and I did not trust the hotel staff to boil it properly (I feel that water can only be purified properly if boiled for 5-10 minutes).
As for the local brands selling water, I had always believed that they were not selling pure mineral water as the distillation process was questionable, as was the environment in which it would have been processed - and that wasn’t the best option for my child. Hence, I was never convinced to buy local brands.
Because I was the one with wanderlust, every trip I would worry about the choices I made for Shiv. A mother’s guilt is something that haunts us moms the most - in every phase of life, we end up blaming ourselves!
In my 2 years of travelling with Shiv, I had vested my faith in the water my mother had trusted when I was growing up - Bisleri. And when the opportunity to visit the Bisleri plant came up, I was excited! Not only did I have a chance to learn if I had been making the right choice, I also had the opportunity to see how clean and hygienic the environment in which this water was being purified was. My faith only grew stronger.
Our tour through the 10-step quality process made me understand how every bottle in each pack is safe to consume. Each bottle of water undergoes 114 sub-tests that ensure that the water we consume is safe, pure, and full of important minerals that our bodies need. Among the important steps that ensure the water’s safety is ozonisation – the smallest, minutest micro-bacteria in the water are killed. The water is then re-infused with minerals like magnesium and potassium, which makes it a little sweet to taste.
The safety norms to enter the state-of-the-art factory were vigil - we wore gloves, shoe covers and hair masks just to enter the premises! In our interactions with the on-spot inspectors, we were assured that any automated error would be sorted out manually. The most impressive part about this was how open and transparent everything at the plant was.
While having a casual session with the mothers at the venue, the conversation of washing water bottles came up. I was guilty - how many times had I just washed it with soapy water and not applied an elaborate process of cleansing it with a brush and hot water! I don’t claim to be the ‘perfect’ mom, but I am an informed mother who learns from her mistakes. I like to make decisions that are in the best interests of my child.
So, post this visit, I have moved to incorporating Bisleri in Shiv’s everyday life. Instead of worrying about whether the domestic help has scrubbed his bottle clean, I give him a small bottle of Bisleri whenever he goes out and I’m assured that he is safe from any water-borne diseases.
Every mother is unique just as her child, so many of us may not agree on the different aspects of bringing up a child. But I urge all mothers on this platform to make informed decisions. Book a site visit and go to the Bisleri plant - see the process for yourself and get your queries answered by qualified professionals, and then make the best choice for your child and your family.
I, for one, can safely say - har maa maanti hai ki #HarPaniKiBottleBisleriNahi! To know more, visit bisleri.com

I Was Bleeding - the Story of a Story
I was trying my best to hold back the fear of losing you with a gentle smile on my face covering the chaos inside, but I knew I couldn't hide it from you. You knew about the wave of my thoughts, every tiny drop of my tears. Those days were amazing; we couldn't term it as 'good' or 'bad' days, we were so confused! But we were determined to accept whatever the future was.
On that very day, I left home with no hope. I had never been so negative in my life. No, I had a reason. I didn't want to live in a hallucination. Your father was holding my hands with love. I could see the calmness of his heart. As always he was with me to give me strength, to face reality. The dreams that I used to have kept coming to my mind...two little hands, cute eyes, chubby cheeks. Waiting for my turn at the radiology department had never so difficult. I could hear your voice inside me. But my own voice was lost in the fear of losing you. I couldn't think of a life without you. I closed my eyes and rested on your father's shoulder. But how could I shut my mind? I was weak and thirsty.
"Shall I tell you something?" The doctor was performing the scan when she looked at me. "It's growing and quite well". She smiled.
I couldn't stop my tears! I was so ashamed of myself but so proud of you. I felt horrible for being so negative but was shocked with your positivity and willpower to fight against all the odds and stand strong. How positive you are! Your positivity kept me alive during those days.
That was the first day that I stood up and made a promise to never look back.
They termed you the 'embryo', but for me, you were the 'universe'.

A Letter to My Daughter on International Women's Day
International Women's Day is celebrated all over the globe on 8th March every year. It's a day to acknowledge achievements by women in every field. It's a day to celebrate their willpower, courage and determination. Having a daughter is like having a best friend for life. As I write this letter to you my dear daughter, I imagine you progressing from a tiny tot to a young woman. And I want you to remember what I'm going to say.
1. Don't Ever Neglect Yourself
"Carve out and claim the time to care for yourself and kindle your own fire." - Amy IppolitI. When you have a family, love them all but not at the cost of your happiness. You owe yourself the love that you so freely give to others. Find ways to be happy and remember, you don't have to necessarily make sacrifices to keep others happy.
2. Take Charge of Your Health and Happiness
Don't depend on others to walk up to you and play the music of happiness - let it flow from within. Follow your passion and make time for your interests. Go learn that guitar, groove to that song, cook that exotic dish, sketch that portrait, sing that song loudly. It's all worth it, darling!
3. Make Time for Your Girlfriends
These women will be the ones with whom you can spend your sunny afternoons and rainy days. These friends will listen to you when you need them to - without judgements and without prejudice.
4. You Are Equal to Men
How I wish that one day you laugh hard that gender disparity existed! I want you to know that your father and I have never believed in differential upbringing and that you and your brother are equals - no less, no more. So walk with your chin up!
5. Read Good Books
Let the vastness of knowledge empower you in infinite ways. With each extra candle that you blow every year, may you add a new perspective and an additional dimension to your character. Let books be amongst the brightest of lights to guide you, my child! Love..
- Mummy

Lock down with the big babies seems next to possible!
While working in the kitchen simultaneously handling the child has always been a tedious task for women and this lockdown, covid everywhere, has only put the worst icing to the cake!Well, to be honest my four year old kid has made me thin again, courtesy no school and his crazy activites. The kids these days come as an updated version, they need changes in their daily lives, they want more and more new things. And it gets really difficult for a woman to handle a child with no cook at home and herself in the kitchen. The first half of the day when you are in the kitchen making breakfast, your child gets up and you have to attend him! You take him to the bathroom, help him brush his teeth because he is still a child who is learning how to clean his parts. But suddenly, you remember there is a pan full of vegetables that still is getting cooked. You run towards your kitchen when your child shouts from behind, ,Mum , I need to poop. You take a deep breathe and return back. This is not just my story but every household where there is no cook and maid. You fix his routine on your own, tries
to keep him busy all the time so that he would not split milk on your free
time! We have been watching a lot many activities for the child to keep them
intact and sit at one place, but what I have experienced is any activity you
choose, you need to give them your time. Be it his school work or any colouring
activities. At least my child needs someone
to check upon him all the time. But at least I still am trying to
give him more activities and more books to scribble, write, colour unnecessary objects.
He watches videos on television because I restrict him to use any phone. I make
him watch Blippi shows, educational videos especially related to animaks and
museums. For cartoons, he watches Peppa Pig in English and yes of course, Chota
Bheem and Mighty Raju are his favourites. I give him shapes to draw and he
loves colouring 3D shapes such as Sphere, Cylinder, Rectangular Prisms and Cone.
The struggle is real for sure! Read more
