Frequent Bowel Movements During Pregnancy
When you are pregnant, a lot of small problems can be an indication of a much larger problem. One of the most overlooked issues of pregnancy is pooping a lot, especially during late pregnancy. Often, it is not a problem but frequent bowel movements during pregnancy can be a sign of an infection, a condition called irritable bowel syndrome or allergies. To better understand how much is too much when it comes to bowel movements during pregnancy, it is first important to understand if this is a normal phenomenon.
Is It Normal to Poop a Lot During Pregnancy?
The first thing we must understand about bowel movements is that it varies from person to person. In most cases, frequent bowel movements during early pregnancy is a symptom of minor hormonal changes that are common during this period. In some cases, however, frequent bowel movements can be a sign of an infection, irritable bowel syndrome or an upset stomach. Considering this aspect, we recommend you go off spicy foods, fried foods, and foods that are hard to digest when you are pregnant and poop frequently. Apart from this, you may have increased your intake of fruits and vegetables during this phase as well. This can also lead to an increase in the number of bowel movements you have in a day, as certain fruits like prunes, apples, and kiwis can act as a natural laxative. At any rate, it’s usually best to be visiting the bathroom often than being constipated, as long as there isn’t an unhealthy reason behind this development!
How to Ensure Excessive Pooping Is Not Diarrhoea
Diarrhoea is commonly the cause of frequent bowel movements. It is also important to note that diarrhoea often results in stools that are watery or present in a semi-liquid form. In most cases, during pregnancy, if your stools are solid, it is not diarrhoea. If you are pooping often and it isn’t diarrhoea, consult your doctor to rule out any infections or other complications.
What if You Are Suffering From Diarrhoea?
In case you are suffering from diarrhoea, you shouldn’t panic; this is extremely normal during pregnancy. Diarrhoea during pregnancy is most commonly caused due to the shift in hormone levels and weaker immunity, which puts a strain on your digestive tract. If you are suffering from diarrhoea, first consult your doctor. If the doctor says there is no food poisoning or infection or any other medical problem or condition (apart from the pregnancy itself), then make key lifestyle changes by avoiding the consumption of heavy foods, sugary drinks, and other hard-to-digest consumables. Remember to exercise as well as this helps your digestive tract a lot and keeps your body resistant to conditions that may harm you due to a weakened immune system.
When to Call a Doctor
In most cases, frequent bowel movements during pregnancy, from the second trimester to the end of your pregnancy, should be monitored carefully. During the first trimester, the risk of suffering any complications is minimal. After the first trimester, diarrhoea and frequent stools will be common but will dissipate within a couple of days or a week at most. If this doesn’t happen, visit a doctor immediately.
Frequent bowel movements during pregnancy can strain an already exhausted body. During this time, the stools will drain essential minerals from your body and dehydrate you. It is important that you stay hydrated and consume mineral-infused water frequently during this period. For more information about frequent bowel movements during your pregnancy, consult your doctor.

A pregnant woman will welcome the monsoon with open arms since it can make the entire journey of pregnancy a wonderful experience. Staying snuggled in a blanket, with a warm drink for comfort, and binging on some snacks as well as movies can feel like an extended holiday. But pregnancy diet in monsoon needs to adhere to certain standards. You might crave like having a hot samosa from the nearby shop while it rains outside, but that isn’t the best choice for your health as well as for your baby. Sticking to a few tips can make it easy for you to enjoy the season without risking yourself.

Diet Tips to Follow During Pregnancy in Monsoon
Monsoon and food might not always go hand-in-hand. Which is why adhering to these tips can help you navigate the season in a better way.
1. Say No to Street Food
Let’s start with the most important and the unfortunate one. Yes, that plate of panipuri might look too delicious to resist and having a kachori dipped in some nice chutney could get you all salivating. But all of those come under a list of foods to avoid during rainy season while pregnant. The season and your stage put your immunity at a lower strength, which can make it easier for infections from street food to enter your body and make you fall ill rather easily. Taking medication is usually not an option in pregnancy, which would lead you to suffer from the consequences of the same for a longer time.
2. Eat Your Meat With Caution
Your requirement for protein is quite high in pregnancy and seafood or meats are the best way to get them. But these food items need to be eaten with care as well. Make sure you get your meat from a healthy source since improper storage of meat can result in various microbes and parasites breeding inside it. Fish products are highly susceptible to it in this season and consuming any raw preparation should be avoided at all costs. When opting for meat-based dishes or any seafood preparations, choose the ones that involve elongated and intense cooking procedures, which will ensure that any bacteria present in it will be killed. Balance it out with other protein-rich vegetarian options as well.
3. Stay Hydrated Throughout the Season
The importance of this cannot be stressed enough. Monsoons and winters are two major seasons when our tendencies of thirst and the need for drinking water take a back seat, due to the surrounding atmospheric conditions. But the daily amount of water consumptions needs to be met without fail since a lot of bodily processes make use of it to rid your body of any toxins, especially in monsoons. Take care that you drink pure contamination free water or boiled water to protect yourself from water-borne diseases. Monsoons are the prime time for such infections to spread through water. Even if your own water supply might be externally purified, it is best to keep yourself safe by drinking boiled water as much as possible. Alternate it with coconut water or any natural fruit juices of your choice. These help in providing you with the necessary fluids, as well as any other salts and minerals, keeping your nutritive levels intact.
4. Say No to Raw Fruits in the Monsoon
Quite a shocker this one, isn’t it. Fruits might be one of the most core elements of your diet since they are natural, mostly safe, and provide tons of nutrients. As much as truth there might be to it, consumption of raw fruits might cause certain issues. Fruits do tend to have a water content within them, which automatically becomes one of the best locations for microbes to thrive in. Cutting open a fruit and leaving it in the open can attract those microbes within it, which transfer into your body when you eat the fruit. Therefore, whenever you want to eat a fruit, eat it fresh by cutting it and consuming it right away. Orange, kiwi, sweet lime are some of the best foods to eat in rainy season while pregnant. These contain numerous vitamins and many substances that work towards boosting your immunity, taking care of any toxins in your body, and providing your foetus with the elements it needs to take care of the baby. Fresh fruit juices are a better bet than the boxed items.
5. Raw Vegetables Are a No-No As Well
Just like fruits, any raw vegetables or salads ought to be avoided during monsoons. These are at a much higher risk than fruits because the tendency to cut vegetables in advance before consuming them is much more common. You don’t need to prepare a proper curry or a meal to eat them. Simply boiling them substantially and eating them can be quite safe in itself. Most vegetables are better when they are consumed after cooking since their raw forms could contain few substances or enzymes that can react with the body in unintended manners. The results of it could be indigestion or nausea since the stomach can process those enzymes effectively. Another great way of consuming vegetables easily is to use them in soup preparations. Make sure these are prepared within the confines of your home itself and not purchased from outside. The vegetables need to be stewed in the soup for a long duration so that they are cooked well and their nutrients are infused within the preparation.
Figuring out what are the safe foods to eat in the rainy season is not a difficult task since there are only a few precautions to be taken care of in that regard. However, slip-ups can take place quite easily and giving into your craving by gorging on street food could open you up to numerous diseases. Adhere to these tips for a few months and you can get back to your usual life when the season fades away.

What To Purge From your Fridge At Once
Refrigerators come to our rescue especially during the hot summer months when everything turns to mush all too soon, but how long does food last in the refrigerator? And more importantly how long before one is supposed to pitch it out? Now those are questions, which often go unheeded.
To not let anything go to waste, most people hang on to what’s stored in the fridge till they’ve seen the end of it. While refrigerators were made to safely preserve food and make them last longer, there are certain foods that need to be tossed out when the time calls for it. If you’re absolutely clueless about it, here are some recommendations on what is safe to eat and for how long.
Safety Limits for Food Storage in Refrigerator
Raw Meats
Raw meat like beef, lamb and pork freshly bought can be refrigerated for 3 – 5 days provided fridge temperatures for food safety is set at 5C or below. They can further be frozen up to four months, however, once cooked it is safe to store them for 3 – 4 days beyond which it’s no longer considered safe for consumption.
Eggs
Raw eggs can safely be stored in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 weeks. It's recommended to keep them in the egg carton in the centre of the fridge rather than placing them in their respective egg trays for better storage.
Milk
Opened milk should be stored in a plastic container or bottle rather than its cardboard container or plastic packaging as this invites bacteria. It usually stays fresh for 5 to 7 days once opened. It's not advisable to store milk that has exceeded its expiry date.
Cheese
Opened cheese in its plastic wrapping is good for 3 to 4 weeks whilst unopened blocks and slices remain fresh even after six months. If a slight mold on the edge of the block develops, no need to discard it. Just cut off that portion, for it’s still safe to consume.
Fruits and Vegetables
How to store food in a refrigerator when it comes to fruits and vegetables? If stored separately and placed loosely in the fridge they tend to last longer, and 2 to 4 days is ideal. Keeping them in bags or containers is not advisable as it tends to accumulate moisture that spoils the fruits and vegetables.
Canned Food
Canned food like luncheon meat, sardines and baked beans generally have a long shelf life and can last even longer if unopened. Once opened they should be transferred to either a plastic or glass container before being refrigerated and should be consumed within 3 to 4 days of refrigeration.
Leftovers
When it comes to leftovers the question is how long does the food last in the refrigerator? Any leftover food should be stored in airtight containers or wraps and consumed within 3 to 4 days of refrigeration. A day longer and it becomes unsafe and certainly not healthy.
While most items of consumption require proper storage, there is the question of what foods should not be refrigerated. Potatoes, onions, ginger, garlic, hot sauces and even bread are best stored in the pantry. Adhering to these safety limits for storage of refrigerated foods will ensure food is kept from spoiling. Things to keep in mind while travelling with a Toddler
The most basic thing when you plan any trip with a toddler is things to do over there, does it interest your child? Because if you select place according to your child then you can oly enjoy.
- Make sure there are enough activities for the kids, a nice play area, maybe a mini theatre.
- Make sure property serves good food because I'm sure you do not want to go there and cook food for your toddler.
- If your child is a water baby then make sure to pick property which has a pool to stay.
- Always select only those places to visit which are for child enjoyment also.
- Keep your trip short so that you are hassle free and you can travel light.
- Pick a weather that is suitable for your child, not too hot nor cold.
- Do not be too rigid in terms of rules when you are on a trip, keep them flexible.
* It is ok if your child sleeps late
* It is ok if your child watches screen
* It is ok if your child wants to eat an ice-cream or a chocolate
Remember they are on a vacation too..
The most important, make sure your child has a company while on a trip because if they do not have a company, you will have to constantly entertain your kids.
Ofcourse that is also a lot of fun but then you will not get any personal space.
So it is completely your call.
Things to carry on flight:-
Entertainment - Colouring books, puzzles, musical toy, board games, etc.
Food - Always keep snacks handy because if the child is hungry and you do not have food, they will create hassle. Keep some biscuits, chips etc whatever they like.
A small handy bag that contains a pair of clothes, wipes, handkerchief, cream, etc as per your requirement. Read more
