Winter Asthma - How to Control It When the Temperature Dips
If you have been living with asthma, then you will already know that winters are the hardest. When the people around you are excited about snowboarding or skiing, you find yourself taking extra care to avoid an asthma attack in the cold weather. Let us take a look at why it is harder during the winters.
Why does Asthma Get Worse in Cold Weather?
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America(AAFA) has found that cold air, dry wind, and the sudden changes in the weather can suddenly trigger an asthma attack in a person. This is because the dry and cold air can cause spasms of the muscles inside the airways as they get irritated. Another reason for this is that there is going to be a spread of flu and cold amongst the people. Catching cold can lead to exacerbating asthma symptoms.
10 Tips to Control Asthma in Winter
Try not to let the dry and cold air worsen the symptoms of asthma as simpler stuff might always make a huge difference. Check out the following home remedies for asthma in winter.
1. Wash your Hands
Wash your hands properly and frequently using soap and water. This is one of the simplest ways to avoid spreading viruses and catching colds. You could also use moist towelettes and alcohol-based hand sanitizers. Also, emphasize the significance of hand washing in your family to avoid spreading germs in your own home.
2. Get a Flu Shot
Studies show that most people who are older than six months get an annual flu shot. Even if you have your asthma under control, the results could be more serious if you happen to catch the flu. Having asthma does not make you susceptible though. It is best if people with asthma get the injectable type of vaccine which is made out of killed (inactivated) flu virus. It is also advisable to not use the nasal spray type of vaccine as this type has live viruses. You might also be suggested to take pneumonia shot by the doctor.
3. Avoid Sitting Near the Fireplace
Though you find the fireplace cosy and warm, it is not good to sit near it when you have asthma. Studies have identified that burning tobacco and burning wood is very similar. Your lungs can get irritated because of the smoke, and this gets worse in the case of asthma.
4. Your Mouth Must be Closed
Keeping your mouth closed is good for your lungs. Your nose has the ability to warm up the air you breathe for the lungs so you should keep your mouth closed. You can also use a scarf and wear it over your mouth or nose to humidify and warm the air. Some people also find a face mask or a ski mask to be helpful.
5. Replace Filters
When you initially start up the heating system for the winter, you may find it blowing up debris or dust throughout the house. Do not forget to clean the filters before you turn the system on as the debris can activate an asthma attack. Also, remember to always check them all through the winters to avoid attacks. It is best to keep the humidity and temperature levels in your home consistent.
6. Exercise Indoors
When the temperature drops very low, and the wind is really chilly, it best to work out at a gym instead of your usual outdoor exercises. This is because the humidity in the gym might not cause a problem. When you want to exercise with some fresh air, choose to go outside when it’s warmer.
7. Warm Up before Exercising
A study has identified that when people with asthma warm up before exercising, they tend to recover faster and their lung functions are better. This has been proven to be important especially during the winters. Before heading outdoors, you can spend the first 20 minutes of your workout time on the treadmill.
8. Take Steps to Prevent Asthma Flares
When you go out to run errands, walk a dog, or even for exercising, take a preventive dose. You might need to use a bronchodilator at least 30 minutes before stepping out. This will help you by clearing your airways and will give you more protection.
9. Have an Asthma Action Plan
If you ever have an asthma flare, you should always know what you have to do. This action plan must have detailed instructions on how you will keep your asthma in control in the long run. Make sure that you know the right time to call your doctor.
10. Taking Medications
Create an effective treatment plan by checking with your doctor and check your health regularly. It is best not to ignore your health even if you have a busy schedule. Ask your doctor for possible medications if you feel your symptoms are getting worse.
Does Cold Weather Bring Higher Risks for Kids with Asthma?
Yes, the risks of asthma tend to rise during the winters for children as there is a drop in temperature. This increases the cases of common colds and flu. Wet and windy weather might also cause problems.
Asthma prevention in winter is not easy. But these steps will help you get through the cold winters in perfect health. However, never put off going to the doctor if there is an increase in your symptoms.

It's True that You Never Understand Life until It Grows Inside You
As a PCOD patient, I suffered weight gain, hirsutism, mood swings and the most heartbreaking miscarriage. Yes, I lost my first pregnancy due to PCOD and with that also lost my hope of becoming a mother. After some years of marriage when you dont become a mother, in-laws start taunting for no reason then I decided to do anything to lose weight and the journey of motherhood started from here only. I joined yoga and followed strict diets and with proper medication, I conceived but by the end of pregnancy, the doctor started saying that I was somthing abnormal and my tummy position was awkward, asked me whether I have fabrioid or not, then she said I have a tumor and I became very sad. I did exercises throughout the journey but it didn’t help me. I still remember when at 3 am my water broke at home and with that turmoil of blood came and I was screaming with pain. When we reached the hospital, they said I have a history of water leakage and they may took me for C-section but initially they tried for normal delivery and they gave me injection shots of pain. The pain was unverifiable so I had epidural but my LO heartbeats went low and ob gyno said my uterus can’t bear more pain, so they took me for operation and they gave me local anesthesia and i vomited in OT. When they started cutting the side I started feeling cut. I felt the pain of cutting, I tried shouting but couldn’t gain energy to shout out loud and started throwing my hands, then they gave me full anesthesia and I dont remember what happened after that. When I woke up, they were shifting me in ICU and I asked, "baby hogaya kya?", they smiled and said "madam baby boy hua h". I thanked my god but when I came into my room from the ICU, I got to know that he had abnormal head due to tremendous pressure, his head had swollen badly and he caught an infection from me. I was crying because my baby was in NICU and I was blaming myself for everything but slowly my baby and I recovered. My husband showed me his pics and was crying seeing my bundle of joy that came into his life from me. After 2 days they handed over my baby to me. When I saw my baby first time, he was soooo delicate and soft. I was so afraid of touching him. When I fed him for the first time and he touched me with his tiny tiny hands, I forgot all my pain. He is a very healthy child. I wish he gets all the happiness in life and thank god for making me his mother. ?????

Keeping your Fitness Hormonally Balanced
As you delve deeper into the fitness challenge, you may face a battle of a different kind. Possibly trickier to deal with than body pain or lack of time, this is the battle of hormones! More and more training and exercise experts these days are talking about the trade-off between growth hormone (GH) and cortisol - both exercise related hormones that work against each other!
Have you been working out long and hard but are still struggling to look leaner? Perhaps you need "hormonal" intervention! The concept of growth hormone vs. cortisol is that when you exercise, your body releases both. While GHs burn accumulated fat deposits, give you sexy muscles and also have anti-ageing properties, cortisol does the opposite! It reduces metabolic rate, destroys well-earned muscles and generally dampens your fitness challenge.
How to Fix a Balanced Workout Routine for Women
1. Fall in love with growth hormone
When you're looking at flat abs, it's worthwhile falling in love with GH. What is human growth hormone? Just your best friend! A product of the anterior pituitary gland, it increases the synthesis of protein tissues for muscle repair or recovery. Not just that, it increases your overall metabolic rate, maintains and increases lean mass, improves sleeping patterns and releases more energy. And oh, if you want to make things a bit hotter, HG is also known to improve sexual performance. Now this can be the perfect complement to your daily fitness challenge!
2. But be wary of cortisol release!
Yikes, what releases cortisol? Well, there’s no thumb rule that guides this hormonal response to exercise. Higher workout intensities can peak either growth hormone or cortisol levels, and this varies across women. But in very high-intensity workouts, a cortisol spike tends to come on faster, while growth hormone release takes place in about 10-25 minutes of training time. Since the implications of cortisol release can make you look much older than your age, please actively ensure your body isn't producing too much!
3. How on earth to suppress production of cortisol?
Easy! Divide your workout sessions into shorter durations. Start training multiple times across the hours that you have on hand. The reason is that as little as 30-second “bursts” of exercise sets or high intensity “mini workouts” trigger off multiple bursts of the growth hormone. But they also prevent cortisol levels from rising beyond repair. Although tough to manage with a hectic career and parenting, no gain without some pain right?
4. Does my workout need a change?
Now that you're aware of what releases cortisol, it's a good idea to stick to many short-duration exercise sets rather than trying to do it all at once or too quickly. Figure out a way to workout in the office or at varied points in your day at home. In line with the available time and schedules, chalk out small high-intensity sessions for your situps, planks, crunches and leg lifts. The “mini workout” principles are any day better than longer workouts for women.
Now that you know hormonal battles are very much real, try to adopt a balanced workout routine for women. The mantra is to space workout in a manner that reduces cortisol and optimises GH. So, what are you waiting for? Wow the world with lean, sculpted abs beginning today! Read more

What Is the Best Gift We Can Give Our Children?
Children love gifts a lot. Not only children, but even adults love receiving gifts. My child's second birthday is approaching, and lately, I have been thinking about what I should gift him for his birthday. Toys, clothes, a bike, other accessories, and there's so much more is out there to give him.
Of course, some of this will be given to him, but I promised myself to gift him some non-materialistic things that will remain with him for his lifetime. These gifts should not just be given on birthdays, but every day. Here are some things I want to gift my child:
Time- It is said "Time is Money". Is there a better gift than giving my child my time? Being a working woman, it becomes a little difficult to give him all my time. But whenever I can manage, I do spend my time with him and make the best memories. These childhood days will not come back again. Enjoy this time the most. In a way, we are giving ourselves as a gift by spending fun time with our little ones.
Values- In today's world, where everything has become a rat race, let us make a change and impart values to our children instead of giving them worldly knowledge. Worldly knowledge is also important, but we do have to take care of the values our child gets as these are gained only at home. What they see, they will be.
Love- I read this quote somewhere, "Our children need us to love them the most for who they are, and not to correct them the entire time". I feel this is so important. Our children are too young, and they deserve nothing but love. Being loved will make them happy individuals, and we all want our kids to be happy.
Patience- A quote says "We can learn so many things from our children, especially patience." We all have 24 hours in a day and 365 things on our heads to complete. In the process of multitasking and being perfect, we lose our patience and take out all our frustration on our kids. Yes, we do realise later that we did something wrong, but it is repeated all the time. I promise that I will try my best to learn to be patient with my kiddo. Do you promise to be patient as well?
Relationships - Maintaining relationships is difficult than creating relationships. With social media getting so much importance, everything we see is beautiful. We are not aware of what's going on inside. I will try to make my child understand that being happy and maintaining relationships are of utmost importance in today's materialistic world.
Moms, what do you plan on gifting your children? Please help me out with more ideas!

A. Some women may have vomiting throughout their pregnancy. The most common reason for vomiting during the third trimester may be gastritis. Make sure you eat small frequent meals, preferably every 2 hours. If your baby's weight during checkups are adequate..u needn't worry much about this. You can also consult your doctor and take anti emetics and PPIs if the vomiting is bothering you or interfering with your daily activities.

A. no need to worry about the frequency and colour of the stool if the consistency of the stool is semi solid to solid.
also there is no need to worry about the smell of the stool if the consistency is normal.
you have to meet the doctor if it is watery inconsistency or hard consistency otherwise semi solid to solid stool is normal.
also passing stool after taking food is normal. r
