12 Weeks Pregnant: What To Expect
You are coming to the end of the first trimester and that is exciting ladies! The 12th week is a milestone for your pregnancy as you have now been pregnant for three months. For most of you, your hormones that had gone berserk may have started coming back to normal.
Also, if you had been keeping this happy news under wraps, it’s about time to spill the beans. As in the last couple of weeks, you may still be only barely showing, but some of you might be showing at least a small baby bump.

Your Baby's Growth during Pregnancy - Week 12
Adding to the development of the baby’s organs, your baby’s sex organs may already be showing externally or may show any minute depending on the hormonal activity taking place.
More importantly, your baby will start acting on reflexes such as sucking. Your baby’s kidneys will also be functional as they can now start producing urine. What was previously just a bed for fingers may also manifest as fingernails at the end of 12th week.
What is the Baby's Size
After finding out about the growth of your baby, it’s only natural that you are eager to know about the 12 weeks pregnant baby size.
By this time your baby would be the size of an apricot or a plum. This means that it has grown around 3-3.5 inches from a mere 2 inches at the end of the 12th week. It is also worth knowing that your baby weighs around 28-29 grams or just a mere ounce. More importantly, your baby’s body has developed a digestive system and the bone marrow has already started producing white blood cells.
Common Body Changes
By this time, it should be a no-brainer that your body will again show some sort of a change at the end of your first trimester. The common body changes during pregnancy include a bit of weight gain, maybe around 500 grams or a kilo.
More importantly, your uterus is steadily growing, and your doctor may already be able to feel it in your lower abdomen. Otherwise, you will continue to get curves. Though you may be showing only a hint of a bump, your clothes will most definitely feel tight.
Symptoms of Pregnancy at Week 12
In a saga of rapidly developing baby and mommy bodies, read on to find out more about the symptoms of pregnancy at the 12th week.
Melasma or an increase in the pigmentation of the skin. This is caused due to hormonal changes that temporarily increase the melanin in the skin.
Breasts starting to feel sore as they prepare to start producing milk.
Darkening of the areolas around the nipples due to increased pigmentation.
Besides that, let’s revisit some of the symptoms which you may already have grown accustomed to by now.
Vaginal discharge: This is usually experienced to protect the vagina against infection.
Headaches: Many women experience headaches due to the lower blood sugar levels in the blood
Spotting: A special mention to this because not every instance of spotting means that you have miscarried. Don’t forget to contact your doctor regardless.
Fatigue: Bouts of dizziness and fatigue can happen suddenly as the blood gets diverted to the baby.
Belly at 12 Weeks of Pregnancy
There should be some accelerated growth in this department, as you should be sporting a bump by the 12th week. Even if it’s not entirely visible, your body will certainly feel curvier and fit snugly with most of the clothes you own.
Even if there is no bump showing yet, your underbelly may certainly feel heavier than what it used to before you got pregnant.
12 Weeks Ultrasound
In a nutshell, your baby has all the correct organs in place, meaning that it’s only a matter of maturation from this point onward. Along with continuing to grow steadily bigger, your baby’s tissues will also grow and mature.
The baby’s brain has developed and will continue to develop in the coming weeks. Your baby can now curl their toes and make some fingers movements, such as opening and closing. Above all, your baby has now grown reflexes so far as to be reacting to your touch or belly poking which of course is visible only in an ultrasound.
What to Eat
This question may have haunted you most of your pregnancy, and for many, the question of 12th week pregnancy food will continue to be bothersome. Nevertheless, your target should be to form a balanced diet, regardless of how averse you may be to food right now. Below is a suggestion that can help you.
Pick fruits and green leafy vegetables which contain vitamins and minerals.
Avoid junk food and choose snacks like nuts, yogurt and sunflower seeds. Nutritious and satisfying, they ensure you stay full for longer.
Don’t forget to add quite a bit of lean protein, most commonly chicken and fish, as it helps the baby’s bones and muscles develop.
Eat complex carbohydrates as they as essential for foetal development.
Eat foods with more fibre as they help relieve constipation.
Try and eat for two, but do not overeat so that there is optimum weight-gain.
Tips & Care
Completing the first trimester of your pregnancy, which may have been painful and difficult for many, nonetheless, reminds you that there is no turning back from this moment on. This means that now it is your responsibility to keep both yourself and your baby healthy and protected. Your lifestyle choices will most certainly reflect on your little baby, which is why it’s important that you take care of yourself above all.
Do's
Below are listed some pointers that should be done during the 12th week of pregnancy.
Eat frequently to keep your blood sugar in check. However, be careful not to overeat.
Take care of oral health, especially since your hormones may contribute to gum bleeding.
Don’ts
Below are listed some pointers that should not be done at any point of your pregnancy.
Don’t smoke as it can increase the chances of respiratory problems for the baby significantly.
Don’t drink alcohol as it affects the growth of the brain and the cells of the spinal cord.
Don’t try any extreme slimming options such as starving yourself as it could affect the baby adversely.
Avoid living in poor conditions such as lack of ventilation, or in places which are too hot or too cold
Avoid saunas or hot tubs as the body is unable to sweat properly because of an increased blood supply and hormones. This means that the body is unable to lose heat effectively and affects the baby as the body temperature rises.
What do You Need to Shop for
Pregnancy shopping at the end of the first trimester is generally not that different from the last couple of months. However, it’s important to invest in good shoes because uncomfortable shoes may add to headaches, interfere with the body’s balance or even contribute to leg cramps and swelling of your feet.
You can go ahead and invest in good parenting books, comfortable stretchy bras, some may even opt for nursing bras as they will come in handy very soon. Stock up on healthy food and snacks. Invest in maternity clothes. Don’t forget to buy good oral health-care products. Invest in good lotions and moisturisers. Do consult your doctor and stock up on vitamins that will help both you and your baby.
By the 12th week of pregnancy, you’re well into your second month of pregnancy and the symptoms like headaches and dizziness may make regular work a little tedious. However, many may start experiencing fewer bouts of morning sickness. The good news is that this is probably the last tough week after which many of these symptoms are likely to disappear.

They say a great workout builds a great appetite and if you're planning to feast this picnic season, it's time to have some good family picnic games lined up. Or maybe you'd just like to kick back and relax after your picnic session with your friends and family members.
Whatever your pick, we've rounded up a list of new and old fashioned family picnic games that are sure to give you hours of fun. They are ideal for playing with kids and adults alike, even better in a larger group, and promise you a true challenge.
Interesting Games That You Can Play with Your Entire Family on a Picnic
A day well spent is a day filled with fun. And one of the best ways to bask in the moment and make good memories is by playing picnic games with your family. Whether you prefer a desi twist or an international spin, here are some of our favourite family picnic activities that are sure to make your day extra special-
1. The Ring Toss Game
Do you like truth and dare? Think you've got the guts to answer bold questions plus have a killer aim? Try the Family Ring Toss Game. Here's how you play it.
How to Play
Divide two families into teams of ten members each. The objective is to throw the hula hoops and make sure each of them lands on their respective teammates' pegs. Whichever team manages to finish landing all the hula hoops first get to ask questions. The losing team has to answer them truthfully, like it or not. And that's precisely the point behind it's fun.
2. Art Contest
What's a fun way to let loose and get those creative juices flowing whilst enjoying your meal? Arting, that's what.
How to Play
If your family has a bunch of artists or you want to start experimenting, get a portable easel and some paint colours with brushes. Paint the scenery in front of you and give a reward to the person who made the most beautiful piece. Alternatively, you could have a chalk drawing contest where you set up a street near the picnic zone for some chalk art.
3. Three-legged Race
The three-legged race is a classic amongst family games and designed to be fun for everyone.
How to Play
Get a couple pieces of fabric or strings and divide your family members into teams of two. Tie up the ankles of the pairs of duos together and whichever two-people group crosses the finish line first, wins. You could modify the game even further or go crazy by adding a third person instead of two or tying both the arm and the leg for each duo-group.
4. Picnic Bowling
You don’t need to go to the mall for a session of bowling. Set up your own version of picnic bowling this way.
How to Play
Grab seven to ten plastic water bottles and fill them up with a bit of sand, pebbles, and stones. If you plan to bowl in the dark, you can add some glow sticks into em' too to make them stand out. Get a basketball or football and bowl it with your hands. Line up your family members in a single file and whoever gets to knock down the most water bottle skittles wins. The water bottle skittles should have a pyramid formation to them before you start, just like your bowling alley.
5. Dodgeball
If your kids are older enough, the family can play dodgeball.
How to Play
You need to get a ball, preferably a dodgeball but a football/basketball works too. Start by forming a circle and the player in the centre starts the game. Try to hit every player one by one. Whoever gets hit has to leave the field and the game continues until there's just one player standing.
6. Keep the Ball in the Air
The game is pretty simple. Basically, players try to keep the ball up in the air and not let it hit the ground. Here's how you play it.
How to Play
Get any ball and divide your family into two teams. Set a timer for one minute and toss the ball in the air, not letting it touch the ground for a whole minute. After 30 seconds pass, allow the other team to come up with their challenges. For example, the other team may try to distract yours by running around, spinning around or getting in the way of the ball. They might even say something funny or whisper in your ears to throw you off-balance. Basically, whatever works to get you distracted.
Try to overcome the challenges and keep the ball up in the air and you'll win points. If the ball hits the ground, you get nothing and this repeats for the other team until we have a winning team that keeps the ball.
7. Scavenger Hunt
A scavenger hunt is one of the best classic group games for a family picnic that gets you moving and thinking.
How to Play
Set up a list of objects to find and give each team a copy of the list. The items on the list should be a bit hard to obtain and not something you easily find in your departmental store. Split into different teams of two or three and start exploring the neighbourhood. Set a deadline for returning to the starting point and whichever team bags all the items or manages to obtain the most, wins.
8. Hide and Seek
There's a reason why hide and seek games are crowd-favourites. Because they're simply thrilling and one of the most popular Indian family picnic game ideas!
How to Play
Have someone who will seek and make him count to 100. Let all your family members quickly hide in different places. There should be a time limit for the game as you don't want to spend the whole day searching. You could add a twist to the game with 'Tag, You're It'. This will tell your seeker that you'll be catching her. Whoever gets caught has to be the next seeker while the rest get to hide again.
9. Candies and Dice
Candies and dice is a fun game that ends with a tasty treat for everyone.
How to Play
Get three large packets of candies and a set of dice. The rule of the game is simple. Each player gets a turn to roll the dice and cast a matching number on each. If the numbers on both the dices don't match, they put candy into their mouth and hold it between the teeth. You keep repeating this for everyone and the person with the most candies in their mouth loses. After the game, the fun part begins - and that is, eating up those delicious candies! This is also an amazing game that's great for every age. If your kids are playing, just make sure there aren't any choking hazards or parts.
10. The Half Empty or Half Full Glass Game
The Half Empty or Half Full Glass Game goes back to the concept of the glass being half empty or half full saying. Here's how to play it and trust us, it's tons of fun.
How to Play
To play this game, you will need-
Two large buckets
Water (either from a hose or from sources)
Teams of two
Blindfolds for every member
Start by partitioning your family members into two teams. The game is ideal for a group of eight but the more the merrier. The two empty buckets get placed in the centre and the team captains stand near them. Team members have to go one by one from each team, blindfolded. The blindfolded members have to carry water in a glass and fill the bucket, one glass at a time. Whichever team manages to fill their bucket first wins. Additionally, you can make the game more challenging by adding handicap rules like carrying the glass with only one hand. If kids are joining in, you don't have to blindfold them but you can tell them to hop towards the bucket with one foot and fill the bucket up. Other ways of making the game challenging include carrying the glass with one arm only and your team members are also allowed to verbally give you directions.
Family games are meant to be fun, challenging, and thrilling. We've compiled a list that is not only thoughtful but suitable for every age. Whether you're a couple, have kids in the house or spend a lot of time with your friends, these are some terrific ideas to make use of when you've got pleasant food, good mood, and some quality time to kill.

My Post-Pregnancy Care Journey - Important Tips and Suggestions to Keep in Mind
I’m a beautiful mommy (I like myself to call that) to our perfectly happy and healthy 2 year-old. I delivered through a c-section in November 2016 and I had gained a whopping 20 kilograms during my pregnancy.
Towards the end of my pregnancy, I had grown so huge that random people often asked me if I were carrying twins. But I was soon able to get back to my pre pregnancy weight, which caught many people by surprise. People also complimented me for the same and were eager to know how was I able to shed all that baby fat so quickly.
My Journey
Being a mother is a beautiful feeling, but mothering is a hard work and highly demanding, and in the overwhelming frenzy of being a good mommy it’s very easy to neglect and stop caring for yourself. Unfortunately, I fell prey to the same thing. I thought it was selfish of me to take time away from the baby and tend to my own needs.
But what I didn’t realise was that by neglecting taking care of myself not only was I risking my ability to take care of the baby, but also my ability to enjoy my motherhood to the fullest. So then Mr. Husband had to step forward and explain how vital it is for me to be well rested, eat healthy, be stress-free and remain healthy both physically and emotionally. So here I am sharing my post-pregnancy care journey, how I took care of myself (still do) and what I did differently:
1. Massage
Having delivered through a c-section massage wasn’t an option for me until after about 2 months when the stitches healed properly. I was reluctant about having massages initially as c-section wasn’t easy on me. I was too shy to let any “maalishwaali” give me a massage. But Mr. Husband was adamant about giving one and after getting massages I was really rejuvenated. It helped relax my sore back and leg muscles, get my body toned. Not only having regular massages helped me get back in shape, but also fastened my recovery.
2. Eating healthy
Eating healthy hasn’t ever come naturally to me as I am very fond of junk food. But when I was pregnant, I was overly particular about timely having healthy and nutritious food since I knew that whatever I ate would be directly affecting the baby. And I continue to do the same for whatever I eat still affects the baby indirectly if not directly. I drink plenty of water to keep me hydrated, which is also good for a healthy skin.
3. Taking proper rest
Feeding the baby every 2-3 hours really took a toll on me and left me sleep-deprived (read turning me into a zombie – a Mombie, if that’s even a word). Well-meaning relatives advised me to nap when the baby naps, but you know it’s easier said than done. I honestly did try, but it only left me with pounding headaches. So, initial 2 months were really difficult for me until the baby got set into a proper sleeping and waking pattern. Now I enjoy good amounts of sleep if not for very long hours.
4. Exercise
Having been gifted with an athletic body I never felt the need to exercise as such, but I continued having brisk walks and leisurely strolls regularly for an hour or so, both in the mornings and evenings. This helped me recuperate back to my shape and restore my health. Losing those extra pounds wasn’t difficult for me, all thanks to breastfeeding the baby exclusively for the first 6 months.
5. Personal care
During pregnancy, I suffered from the skin pigmentation which resulted in dark and patchy looking skin. I had pigmented and patchy looking skin all over my body, especially tummy, neck region and underarms, for which the pregnancy hormones were to be blamed. I was very upset, but whatever I did about that didn’t improve my condition one bit. But now that those hormones are getting flushed out of my system the darkening is fading out itself. Still, I used to frequently lather those areas with a good moisturizer which also kept my skin moisturized.
6. Maintaining mental and emotional health
Maintaining a sane mind in pregnancy and post-delivery can be quite tricky. All thanks to pregnancy hormones! With all the sleep deprivation, frequent mood swings (read anxiety) and round the clock demanding baby it can really get on your nerves. But a good mom is the one who maintains close relationships with friends and gets help when she realizes she isn’t coping well. She needs to talk to any trusting soul and ask for help if needed. I have kept in touch with my friends and other moms from my various communities to get all the information I need on baby care and mommy care and also ask for help if need be. It not only makes me stress-free but, also helps me cope better, have a positive attitude and get relaxed.
This is how I have been taking care of myself and now I’m far more equipped to raise a healthy child. In the end, kudos to all the mothers for their unconditional love for their little ones. And yes, we are definitely not being selfish by taking care of ourselves! So stop feeling guilty. Go on and pamper yourselves as much as you can.

Serves
Preparation Time
Cooking Time
10 People
10-15 Minutes
15-20 Minutes
Ingredients
200 gm all-purpose flour/maida
100 gm powdered sugar
100 gm butter
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp cocoa powder
1-2 tbsp Milk
Method
Step 1
In a bowl add butter and sugar and whisk well till it is creamy. Add the vanilla essence and mix again.
Step 2
Sieve maida and add it to the sugar-butter mixture. Add spoonful of milk as needed and knead the cookie dough.
Step 3
Divide the dough into three equal parts. Set aside two white parts and in the third half add the cocoa powder and tiny bit of milk to form chocolate dough.
Step 4
Place one white dough ball and one chocolate dough ball on separate plastic sheets. Cover them with another sheet of plastic and using a rolling pin, flatten the dough evenly. Remove the top plastic. This is done mainly to ensure that the dough does not stick to the surface and comes off easily.
Step 5
Next, using a pizza cutter, cut ½ inch strips of the dough. Remove any scrap from the sides.
Step 6
Now place one strip of the white dough, next to a chocolate dough strip and then again a white strip. Next, on top of the white strip, place a chocolate strip followed by white and again chocolate. Using your hands push the dough in together, such that the layers are sealed and you get a checkered log.
Step 7
To make it easier for you to understand the assembly of strips, lets say that white strip = 1 and chocolate strip = 2. So, to get a checkered design, you should place the strips as 121, followed by 212, followed by 121, on top of each other.
Step 8
Now roll the remaining white dough around the layered strips and use it to cover the prepared log. Wrap the log in cling film and keep it in the freezer for 20 minutes.
Step 9
Meanwhile, preheat the oven at 180 C and grease a large baking tray.
Step 10
Take the cookie log out from the freezer and slice it into 1/3” slices. Place them on the baking tray and bake them in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
Step 11
When done take it out of the oven and let it cool down to room temperature before storing.

A. I’m sorry I’m unable to understand your query as you haven’t given any detail about it so whatever the situation is you should get a check with your gynaecologist the doctor would be able to give you better help in whatever treatment of precaution you need to require further
