Har Paani Ki Bottle Bisleri Nahi! (Not Every Bottle of Water is Bisleri)
“Thousands have lived without Love, not one without Water.” – W.H. Auden.
This quote explains the necessity of water for everybody. Water is one of the most precious resources nature has blessed us with. I’ve always considered clean water important for good health. If it’s contaminated and unpure, it can lead to serious health hazards like diarrhoea, cholera, and typhoid. Clean water is not only a choice but also a necessity. I’m a curious person who feels strongly about the preservation of the ecosystem.
My zeal to gain more knowledge about this and share it with friends, family, and readers took me to the BISLERI Plant in Mumbai. We wished to understand what makes Bisleri the cleanest and best. Firstly, let me tell you what mineral water actually is.
Mineral water is clean water which contains a certain amount of natural minerals. The filtration process washes away essential minerals like magnesium and potassium. Hence, before packaging it, the water is infused with these, making it mineral water. I’m sure you’re wondering whether it’s safe to consume mineral water. Rest assured, this water is safe and healthy for consumption.
I had already visited a couple of factories, so I had a clear idea of what to expect. However, to my surprise, Bisleri’s factory was very different. A passion to provide healthy and pure water to their consumers - that’s the goal and mission of Bisleri. Mrs. Ghosh, Director, Bisleri explained that their vision is to make a Bisleri bottle accessible to everyone. Before reaching the shops, their bottles go through 114 quality tests and screenings. A uniform procedure is used across all the Bisleri plants in India, for complete quality control. During the plant visit, I saw them clean and sanitize bottles before filling them with clean, filtered water. They have strict protocols in place for adherence to rules and practices. Bisleri’s Mumbai plant also features a one-of-a-kind ‘Vertical Conveyer Belt’ which promotes smooth supply chain management.
Post the visit, we wished to meet Mrs. Ghosh again as we were brimming with questions. She patiently heard and addressed every question of ours. I was curious about the contribution Bisleri was doing towards social development, to which Mrs. Ghosh answered, “Bisleri has adopted a zero wastage policy where we utilize each and every drop of water that we procure. Also, more than 80% of our PET waste gets recycled with the help of ancillary helpers.”
We got to know that Bisleri has explained the need for water conversation to the local administrators. As a mom who always talks about saving water, this gave me a great sense of relief.
This visit provided a lot of insight into how companies like Bisleri are contributing to sustainable development. My daughter also had fun playing quizzes and games and learning new facts about water.
From then on, mineral water means Bisleri for my family, both on-the-go and at home. It is our first choice now. You too can book a plant visit with them on their site – https://www.bisleri.com/.
I trust Bisleri because #HarPaaniKiBottleBisleriNahi.

Your Baby This Week : 14 Month Week 3 Old
“Ball,” “dog,” and “bye” may be your child’s favorite few words. By this age a childs vocabulary ideally consists of at least 20 words. Does your child associate the right word with the right object yet? For eg: Does he point to any furry animal and call it a dog? Thats completely alright! Just keep correcting him in a gentle tone of voice and eventually he will get it right.

Shaken Baby Syndrome
Shaken Baby Syndrome is a severe internal injury to a child's head caused due to forceful or violent shaking. It results in permanent brain damage and at times can prove to be fatal. Usually, there are no apparent signs but at times the baby may vomit or show signs of irritability. In severe cases, complications like seizures, visual impairment, cerebral palsy and cognitive impairment may occur along with retinal bleeding.
What Is Shaken Baby Syndrome?
Shaken Baby Syndrome is brain damage in a baby caused due to inflicted brain injury. It is a serious form of abuse and is also known as Abusive head trauma (AHT). Vigorously shaking a baby by parents or caregivers in anger or frustration may result in this type of injury.
How Common Is It In Babies?
No one can place an exact number on the babies suffering from SBS. It has been estimated that approximately around 1000 to 1500 such incident occurs in infants every year. It mostly occurs in infants between the age group of 3 months to 8 months and up to the age of 5 years. However, as the child grows older, his chances of SBS are less compared to a newborn or infant.
How Does It Happen Only To Babies?
A baby's head is large and heavy compared to the other parts of the body and the neck is weak. Thus when someone shakes him, his head and neck move vigorously which jerks the brain inside the skull causing it to bounce back and forth. This forceful and uncontrolled movement causes the brain to bruise, bleed and swell along with the retina.
Can Abusive Head Trauma Happen Accidentally While You Are Playing With The Child?
Regular methods of play like tossing the child in the air, bicycling with the baby, bouncing the baby on our knee cannot cause AHT. Even a fall from the couch or any high furniture will not cause it until it is a severe fall. Only forceful and violent back and forth shaking movement can cause it.
Who Is At Risk Of AHT?
Although AHT can happen till the age of 5, infants between the average ages of 3 to 8 months most often suffer from it. However, new born babies, between 6 to 8 weeks old, are more prone to it.
What Are The Causes Of Shaken Baby Syndrome?
Infants are at a risk of brain injury when they are shaken forcefully or vigorously which results in Shaken Baby Syndrome. It is so because –
The skull of a new-born baby is very soft. If it gets hit even with a soft object like a pillow while being shaken, an infant's brain may get injured.
Babies have heavy and large heads in comparison to their body.
They have weak neck muscles which do not help in holding the head straight.
The blood vessels in the brain of a baby are very delicate. Therefore, when the head is shaken pressure is exerted which causes haemorrhage.
Signs And symptoms Of SBS
Signs and symptoms may vary from one baby to another, according to several factors like the age of the baby, how much force was used, how often he has been abused and for how long. However, some of the common symptoms are –
Irritable mood and persistent crying
The baby may vomit
The baby may lose his appetite
The baby may stop smiling or babbling like before
In serious injury, the baby may experience seizures
He may have difficulty in breathing
His body may become limp
Slow heartbeat
The baby may have trouble hearing
Retinal bleeding
In severe case, the infant may go into coma
He may also have other signs of physical abuse like broken bones, burnt marks, and bruises.
Baby may become excessively lethargic
The skin may turn pale or bluish
How Is Diagnosis Done?
To diagnose the problem, a doctor will first ask for a detailed medical history of the baby. He will also ask about the time when the behavioural changes started occurring. He will get a thorough physical examination of the infant done and look for bruises or any other signs of abuse. Since the brain is bruised in SBS, the doctor may take a blood pressure reading. Imaging tests, like MRI or CT Scan, will also be done to look for bleeding or injury in the brain. The infant may also have to undergo X-Rays in order to look for broken bones if any. Apart from these tests, a doctor may ask for other tests to be conducted to rule out other causes.
Complications And Long-Term Effects Of AHT
The complications and side effects of Shaken Baby Syndrome or AHT is long term. It can pose serious problems for the infant in the long run like –
The infants may experience seizures and have uncontrolled muscle movement.
He may be unable to see, speak or interact normally with others for the rest of his life.
He may suffer from Cerebral Palsy which affects the limbs and muscles, thereby making the movement of a person near impossible.
The infant may have intellectual and learning disabilities. He may never be able to talk or even if he talks, may not talk normally like children of his age.
The child may have emotional and behavioural problems.
Treatment
A baby with SBS or AHT requires emergency care which usually includes life support like oxygen and surgery to immediately stop internal bleeding in the brain. Furthermore, if the child suffers from other kinds of abuse along with it like burns, broken bones etc., doctor may administer treatment for that too. Ophthalmologists' may also be required to treat the child since retinal bleeding is common in an infant who is SBS-affected.
Prevention
Preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome is not impossible. All you need to do is –
Resist any urge to shake your baby. It is usually an outcome of anger or frustration in parents due to various reasons like the child crying continuously, postpartum depression, stress etc. However, just remember to back count until the anger/frustration gives way to the calmness in you.
Understanding that for a newly born or an infant crying is his only way to show displeasure or to put his feelings across.
Parents must also understand that as the infants grow and mature, the crying will become infrequent.
Parents can practice yoga and breathing exercises which will help them to lessen their stress.
Asking a friend or a family member to come and babysit sometimes while the parent can have some "me time", can help the parent to feel relaxed and handle stress better.
Enrolling in parenting classes can teach the parent ways to manage stress and how to handle crying infants.
If the parent hires a nanny or help to look after the baby, he/she should be guided properly and forewarned about SBS. In order to keep a regular watch on the help, the parent may install CCTV cameras.
When Should You Call The Doctor?
A doctor should be immediately called in when you see any of the symptoms of SBS like seizures/convulsions, breathing problems, or retinal bleeding, or if you suspect that your baby has SBS.
What To Do When Babies Cry?
The first thing to remember when your baby is crying is to relax. Remind yourself that it is a passing phase and with time your baby will mature and his crying will become infrequent. After having given yourself an inner "pep talk", try out the following –
Lift your baby and caress him and do a little talking with him.
Then wrap him in a blanket so that he feels secure.
Try creating noises which will help in drowning the other noises. You could even sing something to him like a lullaby.
Do the swinging movement (either in your hands or you could even place him in a cradle in case he has stopped crying by now)
You could also let him suck on a pacifier. Better still, breastfeed him (or give him a bottle of milk). In case he is crying due to hunger, that will pacify him.
In case you sense something wrong with your baby, take him to a doctor immediately.
Understanding the essential causes of Shaken Baby Syndrome is the best way in which we can prevent it. It requires a cooperative effort in identifying, investigating and preventing SBS in children. Everyone should be equipped with the knowledge of SBS so that any individual can easily detect it, manage it (if they see anyone affected by it) and try and prevent it.

Does Your Baby Have Stranger or Separation Anxiety? - How to Tackle It
What is Stranger Anxiety?
This is usually demonstrated by crying when an unknown or unfamiliar person approaches. Normally it starts at about 8 - 9 months and usually subsides by 2 years of ag. Stranger anxiety is related to the child’s developmental task of distinguishing the acquainted from the unacquainted. Both the duration and intensity of the nervousness (anxiety) varies greatly among kids.
Some babies show a strong preference for one parent over another after a certain age, and grandparents may suddenly be viewed as strangers. Anticipating this during visits helps prevent misinterpretation of behaviour. Comforting the child and avoiding overreacting to such behaviour is usually the only therapy needed.
If a new person is coming, having that person spend some time with the family before the actual day makes sense. When the event arrives, having parents spend some time with the child and sitter before they leave is prudent. If grandparents are coming to watch over the child for a few days while parents go away, they should arrive a day or two early.
Stranger anxiety of pronounced intensity may be a sign of more generalized anxiety and should prompt evaluation of the family situation, parenting techniques, and the child’s overall emotional state.
The day-to-day relationship between baby and parents, not the degree of anxiety when meeting strangers is the best measure of emotional health in the baby.
Stranger anxiety is a normal part of a child's cognitive development. Parents concerned about educating their children should be cautious when approached by unfamiliar people. However, we need to find a balance between concern and encouragement of their natural inquisitiveness and friendliness, while at the same time teaching them that they should always rely on parental supervision and consent in dealing with outsiders.
Stranger anxiety can sometimes upset friends and relatives, who may feel rejected by an introverted child. The baby may reject a caregiver he/she was previously comfortable with or grow hysterical when relatives visit. This can be unsatisfying for us, since the baby may reject the parent who is not the principal caregiver. Parents should respect the child's fear and allow her to approach people. If the child does not want to be hugged by or sit with a relative, it is ill-advised to force her. In the long run, children outgrow their fear and become more easy-going with strangers.
Safe Attachment and Social Referencing
Around 8-9-month-old babies would have reached an important milestone in the development of an attachment to their mother. Babies with a healthy attachment prefer being near their mother, because the mother is the person who helps them with their physical and emotional needs.
Although they may move away from the mother to explore, they will still look back at her face for assurance when they’re not sure about something. This is called ‘social referencing’.
Person Permanence
Most babies at this stage would have developed an understanding of person permanence (that people still exist when they can’t be seen). Whereas before they had to be able to physically see their mother to know she existed, they can now hold a picture of her in their mind.
When baby can’t see their mother, they may become upset and terrible in response to the separation. It’s still better for a mum to tell her baby she’s leaving, rather than hoping the baby won’t notice her going.
So always wave a goodbye and say that you will be back sooner to comfort the child.
Separation Anxiety- What Is It?
Separation anxiety is when a baby becomes worried or upset when they’re separated from the person who cares for them the most — often it’s the mother. Babies understand that people leave before they learn that people return. They can tell from your actions that you are about to leave. Anxiety begins to build even before you leave. Upset and crying occur at the time of separation, sleep difficulties are common.
This usually develops in the second half of the first year.
How Can You Reduce or Tackle This?
Practice staying away for short durations.
Introduce strangers early.
Try distracting the baby when you leave.
Always leave when she feels good, that is, when she is well-fed or not sleepy.
Learn to say goodbye which would signal that you will not be available.
Don’t look back.
Don’t fall for the tears, they are short lived.

Cord banking ( जर तुम्ही stem cell स्टोरेज चा विचार करत असाल तर).
A. It is not a pre-term degree once you enter into your nine months you can deliver any time and it will be a full-time delivery so see if your gynaecologist is suggesting you something go for that because she’s monitored your pregnancy throughout these nine months so I think she would not suggest you anything wrong of going a sec for a second opinion you go for what your gynaecologist suggesting but try going ahead with a normal delivery

A. You have to take proper medications to balance your hormones and that is what is going to be helpful in a regular period cycle once your periods are regular you’ll be sure about the time when you’re on dating and that would be the right time for you to conceive so that is how you need to work upon it
