18 Best Home Remedies To Avoid Pregnancy
Many couples want to have children but only with proper planning and when both are ready. To prevent an unwanted pregnancy, many women use contraceptive pills which may have adverse effects on the body in the long run. Luckily, there are a number of home remedies to prevent pregnancy. You can use them whenever you have unsafe intercourse. Of course, none of these methods are 100% effective; they are all just precautionary. So, it is always better to practise safe sex as much as you can! Below, we give you 18 ways to avoid pregnancy naturally, so that your sex life can be enjoyable, liberating and anxiety-free.
How To Prevent Pregnancy Naturally At Home – 18 Easy Ways
There are many natural methods of preventing pregnancy that are safe and have minimal health risks. Some of them are:
1. Papaya (Papita)
If you have unsafe intercourse, have papaya twice a day for the next 3-4 days to reduce the chances of an unwanted pregnancy. It is an effective birth control remedy and, when taken by the male partner, can reduce sperm count. The sperm count gets back to normal when consumption is stopped.
2. Ginger (Adrakh)
Ginger induces a period and thus prevents pregnancy. Add grated ginger to a pan of boiling water. After five minutes, turn off the stove and strain the mixture. Drink 2 cups of strong ginger tea every day.
3. Apricot (Khubani)
Apricot is a fruit which prevents foetus implantation in a natural way. Add 100 gms of dried apricots and 2 tablespoons of honey to a cup of water. Boil the mixture for around 20 minutes and drink it. You can also eat 5-10 apricot kernels a day after sexual intercourse till your period begins.
4. Dried Figs (Anjeer)
Figs are one of the best birth control methods and also promote blood circulation. Eat 2-3 dried figs after having unsafe intercourse. Don’t overeat as they may cause an upset stomach.
5. Cinnamon (Dalcheeni)
Cinnamon is known to stimulate the uterus, and cause miscarriage and abortion. However, it doesn’t work instantly, so you must consume it regularly for a long period. We advise consulting your doctor before using cinnamon as a birth control method.
6. Juniper Berries (Kala Jamun)
You can also eat kala jamun berries for birth control. It should be consumed for three consecutive days post lovemaking.
7. Vitamin C
Vitamin C is another method of natural birth control. It interferes with the progesterone hormone and hence prevents conception. Take 1500 mg of Vitamin C tablets twice a day for 2-3 days after unsafe sex. It is important not to overconsume Vitamin C as it may have adverse effects on your body. Also, do not take it if you are on anti-coagulant medication or suffering from sickle cell anaemia.
8. Asafoetida (Hing)
Drink asafoetida juice with water every month. It can prevent conception and avoid pregnancy.
9. Parsley (Ajamod)
Parsley is also an effective home remedy to prevent pregnancy. It is a mild herb with no side effects and best consumed as a tea.
10. Neem
Neem is one of the Indian home remedies to avoid pregnancy. It is available in the form of leaves, oil and leaf extract. Neem oil kills sperm within 30 seconds if injected into the uterus, while neem tablets promote temporary sterility in men.
11. Pineapple
The properties of pineapple can prevent implantation of a foetus and avoid pregnancy. Eat an unripe pineapple every day for 2-3 days after sex.
12. Buckwheat (Kuttu)
Buckwheat contains rutin which prevents implantation. You can have 500 gms of this herb every day. It works well before and after unprotected intercourse. The best thing about kuttu is that it doesn’t have any side effects.
13. Wild Yam (Ratalu)
When there is no other natural way to avoid an unwanted pregnancy, try taking wild yam twice a day regularly. It takes one or two months to work as a birth control remedy so make sure not to miss any day.
14. Indian Turnip
This vegetable is effective in preventing pregnancy for up to a week after sexual intercourse. Take a teaspoon of the dried and powdered root and mix it with half a cup of cold water. Drink it for a week.
Other Ways to Prevent an Unwanted Pregnancy
There are methods to avoid pregnancy which can be practised during sex. These are:
15. Have Sex During Your Safe Period:
This method provides an added layer of precaution, if you already have some kind of protection in place. Safe sex is usually between the 8th and 20th day of a woman’s menstrual cycle, as she would not be ovulating during this period. There is still a risk of unwanted pregnancy but you can try it as an extra layer of protection.
16. Practice Start-Stop Method:
The male partner can pulling out of his partner so that he doesn’t ejaculate inside and his sperm doesn’t fertilise an egg. However, this method requires practice and there is a risk that sperm might somehow enter the vagina and increase the chances of pregnancy. Again, it is better to do this along with other proven contraceptive methods in place.
17. Track Your Basal Body Temperature:
Once your period ends, you can start tracking your basal body temperature. When ovulation begins, the temperature starts rising and peaks on the day of ovulation. You can avoid conception if you avoid pregnancy during this period.
18. Look Out for Cervical Discharge:
A woman’s body produces a transparent, jelly-like discharge in the days leading up to ovulation. Abstaining from sex during this period can prevent ovulation.
Things to Keep in Mind While Natural Contraceptives
There are certain things you should keep in mind when you use any of the above home remedies to avoid pregnancy.
If you are looking for an effective way to avoid a pregnancy and considering any one of the above methods on a long-term basis, consulting a doctor is a must.
Many of the herbs and foods listed as contraceptives are neither 100% effective nor 100% free from side effects. Some carry risks which may prove harmful in the long run.
If you experience any abnormal health effects after taking the remedy, immediately stop its usage.
Take care of your diet and make sure you eat healthy while taking any birth control measure.
As mentioned in the beginning of the article, the 18 home remedies to prevent an unwanted pregnancy are not as effective as using condoms, contraceptive pills or other medical contraceptive devices. Practising safe sex is always the best option, in combination with one of the above methods. Consult your medical practitioner before you try anything, so that you can have full knowledge of what can be done to fully avoid an unwanted pregnancy with no lingering doubts. After all, it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Language Development in Children
Language development in your child is one of the most important developmental milestones which prepares them to communicate effectively as they grow older. Understanding how you can help your child achieve this can be essential in building a strong foundation to help him through this process.
Learning how to communicate with others using words and sentences is a skill that your baby learns through active listening in his early childhood. This skill can help him express himself in the later stages and become a solid foundation for literacy and communication.
Stages of Language Development in Early Childhood
Language development in children takes place gradually and in different stages since childhood. Listed below are the various stages of language development since early childhood.
Three to twelve months
Your baby has a basic understanding of emotions like love, anger, and affection and responds to them with his unique coos and babbles. At this stage, if you notice that the babbles resemble any word, you can encourage him to speak. Babbling can be an important aspect of language development as this is the first manner of communication your baby has. At this stage, your baby will respond to his name being called and may even be able to speak out simple words like ‘ba’, ‘ma’, ‘da’, etc, as these are easier to pronounce.
Twelve to eighteen months
By now, your baby should be able to say single words and will try to imitate what you speak. He will also try to communicate more often and it is important that you encourage him by responding to him. You will also need to speak to him in order to help him grasp new words and sentence.
Eighteen months to two years
Your baby will have included more words to his vocabulary by this age. He can understand and speak around 300 words and also try to string a short sentence together. Although language development in each child varies, if your child hasn’t been able to speak simple words at this stage, it is essential that you consult a professional for further guidance.
Two to three years
Your baby’s vocabulary would have further improved and he will be able to speak longer sentences. He will also be able to comprehend what you are saying much better. His communication ability will improve and others would be able to understand what he is saying. He may also be able to multi-task as he plays and speaks at the same time.
Three to five years
As his curiosity grows, you can expect your child to ask you many questions and speak more complex sentences. He will able be able to understand more complex grammar and use it in his conversation. This can be a great time to encourage him to read books and enhance his vocabulary as well as improve his grammar.
Five to six years
By now, your child can understand what his teacher says and responds in a coherent manner. He should also be able to recognize more words and use them in sentences. Reading a book to him and engaging in intelligent conversations with him can help him improve his vocabulary and grammar.
Effective Ways to Encourage Language Development in Kids
During these stages, you can engage your child in different simple and fun activities to encourage his language. Here are a few activities for language development in early childhood.
1. Read him books
Reading bedtime stories is one of the best ways to introduce new words to your kid. You can practice this from a very young age and make a habit out of it.
2. Have intelligent conversations
Even though your child may not be able to respond effectively, you can still speak to him like he understands you. He will be listening to you and may even attempt a proper response.
3. Listen to music
Listening to and singing rhymes can help him pick up certain words and understand their rhythm.
4. Repeat
Make it a habit to repeat what your child says with the right pronunciation and grammar rather than criticizing him for it.
5. Limit the use of computers and television
Excess screen time is linked to delayed language development by some studies. Hence, only permit your child to watch activities that will allow him to improve his language.
6. Take your child out
Visiting a new environment can feed your child’s curiosity and he will want to know what the new things around him are called. This can be a great way to improve his vocabulary.
7. Speak about things your child is interested in
This can encourage him to be an active part of the conversation and speak more.
8. Introduce new words gradually
Don’t try to flood him with words. Add new words to the conversations step by step so that he understands and retains their meaning.
What Is The Difference Between Language And Speech?
The words that your child understands and uses during his communication form a language. This includes the ability to write as well as speak. Speech, on the other hand, is your child’s ability to create sounds which form words.
Signs of Developmental Delay in Kids
Your child may have a developmental delay in learning his language if the following signs are observed:
He doesn’t babble or try to talk
He hasn’t said ‘mama’, ‘dada’ or other simple phrases
He doesn’t point out at things and try to speak out their names
He hasn’t learned to say single words
He hasn’t been using hand gestures, pointing or waving
He does not respond when you give simple instructions
He does not imitate words or actions
He hasn’t been able to string words together to form simple phrases
He stutters often
He cannot interact with others effectively
He does not use pronouns like ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘you’ properly
Language learning in early childhood is important to ensure that your child understands what is being said to him and is able to respond. It also forms a key aspect of communication, learning, and even his future relationships. Once your kid is able to use words in accordance with their meanings and purpose, he will be able to express himself better. This will help boost his confidence and help him give his opinions more articulately. In case you notice that your child hasn’t been able to communicate well or say simple words, you will need to consult an expert to understand the reason and get him the required therapy.

Many shades of Corona that I am learning day after day
As you all are aware about this virus now so I won't go into the details again. But how this pandemic made so many changes to our life that nothing seems to be like it used to be before. Adults are working from home and kids now know what online classes are all about. Suddenly, our little home has turned into an office, school, restaurant, playground and so many other things we could ever imagine. I don't know when this virus will leave our country but till the time it's here and we all are quarantine, let's all make our home a happy place and stop worrying about the future. In short I am going to give a new meaning to Corona. It means different to every individual in good or bad sense, but for me I will simplify it for my little world.
C stands for corridor - We have 4 flats on our 12th floor. And the only kids who play there are my 6 years old and my 1 year old. Not to forget my husband too who is nothing less than a kid. Though thankfully he is here, otherwise this period would have been very difficult to face. Anyway, the corridor is all ours to play cricket, football and even drive the scooty. And even the little one started walking in the only space left for her. So the corridor is our little playground to get some movement and feel free.
O stands for Opportunity - Well what to say, I am a person who loves going out whether it's traveling, shopping or just anything and everything. And have always loved doing new things. However, cooking was neither my hobby nor do I like to cook. But when this quarantine started I was so pissed with my cooking skills and thought why not try new things. And so now I make sure that I try one new recipe everyday. And when my family appreciates my efforts, I feel it is worth trying. But after this lockdown I will keep a cook for sure.
R stands for Rational- I am actually a very emotional person. My mom left for Delhi just before this lockdown and she could not come back and this thought of being alone pinched. I thought I won't get any help from hubby and daughter for household chores. Yes, we had our fight and then they understood what I was going through. I am glad that our rational and logical talk helps us. Now we all help each other. And this tough ride thus became smooth.
O stands for Opinion - Yes, as an adult we always have a opinion which we try to enforce on our kids. But kids also have a opinion and the way they see the world is so different and pure. So sometimes it's good to listen to their imaginary stories and how they give solution to some problems which we would otherwise never imagine. My child gives different opinions all the time, morning, evening, night and I think in her sleep too. Just imagine my condition.
N stands for Never say No - I think not just me but most parents have the habit to say No to their kids. But this lockdown has had a huge impact on these young minds. They could have never imagined in their dreams what staying inside the house 24*7 means. But they are fighting brave just like us. I think better than us. So appreciate them and set them free for sometime to do whatever they want to do. They will turn out good and strong after this lockdown for sure.
A stands for Affection - Finally the affection I am getting from my hubby, my kids, my family and friends in Delhi and all my lovely friends in Mumbai. They are with me all the time whenever I am feeling low. Yes, this period is tough for all but when you have the love and support of everyone, you always stand strong. Thank you all for tolerating me, my anger, my tantrums during this period. Love you all. Can't wait to see you all soon. Till then zoom, WhatsApp zindabad.
This is my version of lockdown. Hope you guys enjoy reading it as I am writing after a very long break. I hope I turn out as a better human being after this tough phase of life pass.

Ideal Daily Routine for Babies and New Mommies to Follow
Being a stay at home mother (SAHM), it took me a while to get my four month old baby into a proper routine. I tried different permutations and combinations, until I finally found the 'perfect' routine that now benefits both of us. I've listed his routine for all you amazing moms! If you're having trouble setting a routine for your baby, try this one, and let me know whether it worked for you or not.
1. Waking Up
What time your baby sleeps (and let's you sleep), determines what time he/she will wake up. Once your baby is over two months old, set a sleeping time. Switch off the TV and dim the lights, so that your baby understands its time for bed. I know it's not that easy, but hey! We are superwomen, aren't we? If we can deliver a baby, surely we can put him/her to sleep on time!
2. Play Gym
Babies love all things colourful and dangly! A play gym is not only fun, but it also helps in developing babies' motor skills, and enhances their senses. After feeding my baby, I put him in the play gym. It helps him not only to stretch those tiny arms and legs after sleep, but also in expressing himself through colours and shapes. Bonus -those cute sounds!
3. Maalish Time!
Once my baby has played in the gym and taken a light feed, it's time for an oil maalish! My baby LOVES it. After 15 minutes of maalish, I give him two to five minutes of tummy time, to help balance his head. Do keep toys in front of your baby to help him/her stay engaged.
4. Bath it Up
After a massage and feed, we indulge in some playful foamy bath time! I use a baby bather and Sebamed bath products. What bath products do you guys use? Let me know in the comments, below.
5. Feeding and Sleeping Time!
After the bath, once the baby is dressed, I give him a top feed (bottle feed), post which he sleeps. This gives me time to finish my pending chores and have lunch. I try to sleep, as well, but sometimes, I end up watching a TV show or read a book, instead.
6. Winding Up
Evenings are mostly spent with my hubby and baby. He gets excited and extremely happy to see his father. We usually take him for a stroll for some fresh air, post which he takes a feed and then plays in the gym, while we finish our dinner. After some cuddly sessions and playing, he takes one last feed and calls it a day.
What routine do you all follow? I can't wait to know more.

Is Your Child Acting Out - Know How to Respond in Right Way
Sometimes children may exhibit weird behavioural traits and act out may be one of them. So what exactly is acting out? Is it just another developmental phase your child may be going through or is it more than that? Let us take a look at why a child usually acts out and what rectification measures you can take as a parent, in the following post.
What is Acting Out Behaviour?
When your child acts fussy, shows temper tantrums, exhibits unrestrained behaviour and depicts other such kinds of emotions, it can be classified as acting out behaviour. This kind of behaviour usually results from suppressed emotions or feelings. So, if you find your kiddo or toddler acting out, it may be your child’s unintended cry for help. Many reasons may evoke such personality or behavioural traits in kids and teenagers, and as a parent, you may want the reasons behind the same.
Reasons Why Child is Acting Out
Before you look for the solutions to rectify or amend your child’s erratic behaviour, it is imperative to go to the root cause of it. Here we have short-listed some of the reasons that may make your child behave in this manner:
1. Untreated Learning Disability
Sometimes children may suffer from learning disabilities. In most cases the parents may be able to identify such issues, however, in situations where such problems remain untreated or undiagnosed, it may hamper the child’s ability to perform various tasks. Inability to do so may give birth to acting out behaviour.
2. To Impress Friends or Peers
Sometimes a child may exhibit such nasty personality traits only to gain their friends’ attention or to overcome any kind of neglect. Whatever may be the reason, if a child is acting out to get attention, it is vital to nip it in the bud or else the child may continue to do this so that he may grab the attention of his friends.
3. Seek the Attention of the Adults
It is not only their friends’, but sometimes children may act out to gain the attention of the adults too. Most of the times the children may opt for this resort because the positive resort to gain attention did not work well. Therefore, they may unleash their negative streak and show this kind of behaviour.
4. To Gain Power and Control
Sometimes the sheer aim for such behaviour could be to gain power and control of a situation. This happens when a child feels that he lacks power and control. He may express this kind of attitude to show that he in control of the situation.
5. Agitation Due to Some other Factors
Sometimes children may behave all grumpy and fussy because something may be bothering them. This could be something that may be going with their health for example; they may feel bloated or gassy. On the other hand, children may feel uncomfortable due to tight clothing, uncomfortable shoes and various such factors.
6. Unable to Express
Young children may often find it difficult to express themselves, especially because they lack proper vocabulary. Inability to put across their feelings and emotions may frustrate them, and thus he may showcase such behavioural traits.
7. In Response to Certain Situation
Many times such kind of behaviour comes into light when the child is in a particular type of situation or as a response to an upsetting situation. Therefore, a child acting out after starting kindergarten could be a response to separation anxiety, child acting out at school but not at home could be because of peer pressure or being bullied at school, child acting out because of divorce could be due to emotional stress, child acting out after visitation could be because of resentment and so on.
8. Undiagnosed Mental Disability or Condition
In some cases, children may be exhibiting this kind of behaviour due to some underlying mental disorder such as autism, OCD or obsessive-compulsive disorder, ADHD or attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder or anxiety disorders.
9. As a Response to Over-Controlling
When children are nurtured in an overly protective and controlling environment, they may feel suppressed. This kind of behavioural traits may be their way of revolting against the control of their parents and showing their resentment.
10. It May Be Plain Curiosity
We all know that children are super curious and want to try out everything under the sun. Therefore, sometimes a child may be behaving erratically or unacceptably just to test the boundaries with the parents and to see up to what extent he can take it.
Symptoms of Child Acting Out
Most children behave erratically once in a while, so how will you be able to establish that your kiddo is acting out. Well, here are some symptoms that may help you to find out if your child exhibits the following traits on a regular basis:
Lying
Stealing
Damaging stuff
Harming others (people or pets)
Self-harm
Poor academic performance
Frequent temper tantrums
Drinking, smoking or drugs
How to Discover the Cause of Acting Out Before Treatment?
Many reasons may make your child behave a certain way. It will not be a wise thing just to put a tag on the child saying ‘he is a bad child’. Such kinds of behaviour have their cause deeply rooted in the child’s emotions, feelings, loneliness or fears. So, simply shunning a child’s behaviour by labelling him as a ‘naughty child’ or a ‘spoilt child’ may further aggravate the situation than putting an end to it. It is important to establish the cause and then look for ways to cure the behaviour.
Ways to Respond When Your Child is Acting Out
Following are some ways of responding when your child shows this kind of behaviour:
1. Be Positive
Do not scold, punish or mock your child for his behaviour. On the other hand, whenever your child behaves well, you should praise and reward him. This way he will understand what is expected of him.
2. Be Consistent and Clear With Your Expectation
It is essential to explain rules and regulations to the children. Once they are aware of it, it is easier for them to follow. They may also understand the implications and consequences for not abiding the rules.
3. It Is Not Always About You
Your child may be acting all weird and erratic, and it may be a hurtful sight, but it is important to understand that your child’s behaviour, anger and resentment may not always be because of you. It is important to talk to your child and know the cause.
4. Be Calm
When the child acts all hyper and unreasonable, it is essential that you do not opt for the same path. When you are calm and composed, you will be able to handle the situation better and help your child too.
When to See the Doctor
You will know for sure when the situation may not be in your control. If you are not able to manage your child’s tantrums or your child’s symptoms are becoming worse, you must seek medical help. Sometimes a child’s behavioural traits may not only be affecting the child, but it may be affecting the siblings or the entire family, you must seek the help of a professional or a child psychologist.
Identifying the root cause of the problem is crucial. Only then, it will be possible to correct any such behavioural problems.

A. Oh well as per if we go out traditional believes yes it does but it is not good for you to cry because your emotions lead to those emotions to your child i understand your concern because you’re going through hormonal change and which is normal because when you are in this stage you really want the closest person to be with you and that’s your husband talk to your husband about it still if he’s not understanding then take a consultation with your gynaecologist along with your husband she’s going to give counselling and understanding to your husband and I think the situation should change after that
