5 Approaches to Learning for Toddlers between 1 – 2 years
As babies transition to toddler stage; they begin to be naturally curious about everything around them. This is the time, when parents can actually enhance toddlers’ concept of learning by helping them to adopt various learning approaches such as, problem-solving and imagination, among a few others.
Toddlers between 1-2 years of age have an inherent characteristic to be curious about everything and hence, this stage is considered suitable to mould their attitude towards learning. The sooner the toddlers develop an inclination towards learning, easier it is for them to transition to school. Some toddlers can naturally develop learning skills through watching, playing, listening or talking while others may require a structured environment for the same. Here are some approaches to learning to help your toddler learn:
1. Curiosity and Keenness
As the toddlers begin to explore the world around them, they become more curious and are eager to learn even more. Toddlers clapping their hands, pointing to a toy, trying to read a book, asking ‘what’ or smiling at someone are signs that they are willing to get more information about a particular activity, person or object of their interest. At such times, parents can stimulate the toddlers by proving sensory experiences such as, giving them colourful toys to play with, asking them open- ended questions or showing them picture books.
2. Imagination and Invention
Toddlers have a wild imagination that nurtures their creativity and brings out the inventor in them. They may often find innovative uses of an object; they may use a spoon as a drum stick or turn a plastic bottle into a rattle. You may offer them crayons to colour a picture, but they may end up doodling on walls. To give wings to toddlers’ learning through a flight of fancy, let them explore freely with different objects and materials, and introduce them to different sensory experiences through touch and feel. You can even involve them in pretend plays using music, dance or drama, or ask them thinking-questions such as, ‘where does the sun go in the evening?
3. Initiative and Confidence
Helping toddlers to initiate an activity can build their confidence in taking risks or trying something new. Children are likely to explore more when they are outdoors or move around in social circles. Simple non-verbal gestures like self- feeding and undressing on own or voicing choices over snacks are little achievements that toddlers take pride in. To translate these achievements into the concept of learning, parents can increase children’s social interaction time, praise their good behaviour, take them to the garden to play or involve them in exploratory talks.
4. Attention and Persistence
Young toddlers usually love to repeat activities that they enjoy or have mastered. For instance, they may want to play with the building blocks over and again, jump up and down from the couch or listen to the same story every night before bedtime. Through these actions, toddlers learn to focus for a longer duration or make persistent efforts to finish the task at hand. How parents can support toddlers is not to rush them from their engaging experience and in fact, persuade them to repeat the activities.
5. Logical Thinking and Problem-Solving
Toddlers find their own means to get things done, resolve their problems or communicate their needs. They may open a closet and point out a dress, find a broomstick to fetch the ball from under the table or innovate a gesture to ask for help. All these actions fuel the logical thinking of toddlers and encourage them to come up with strategies to reach their goals. Hence, to help your toddler learn problem-solving skills, let them take risks and do things their way, until you think intervention is necessary.
Toddlers may face challenges in the above approaches to learning, but with parental encouragement and well–structured environment, developing learning skills would be easier for them. Read more

Rohit Sharma's Baby Happily Responding to Spanish Is Cuteness Overload!
Babies – they learn so quick! It is well known that babies are most receptive in their early years – that is how they can pick up languages and learn to communicate with the people around them. Doctors often advise new parents to constantly talk to their babies even though they don’t understand it, because using language to communicate works wonders for their early brain development. This also happens to be a great time to introduce different languages to your baby – it only enhances development! Ace cricketer and new father Rohit Sharma recently posted a video on Instagram – his wife Ritika Sajdeh is conversing with their Pampers-clad 3 month-old daughter Samaira in Spanish! In the video, we can see Ritika using simple Spanish words like “hola”, “como estas” and “tu madre” to talk to the baby while a happy and cheerful Samaira responds with giggles and laughter as if she understands the language! We know that the tone of Ritika's voice is what’s really appealing to the baby, but it won’t be long before she picks up the language and starts to understands the words as well!

Teaching more than one language to your baby can be of great advantage. In today’s day and age, it’s important to develop skills that go beyond academic success – learning to play an instrument, being good at a sport, or knowing some form of art is a great way to add depth to your child’s skill sets. Learning a foreign language is especially important today, as it can be a great professional skill. The question is – how can you do that? Well, there are several online courses that provide foreign language classes, and you can take your pick depending on which languages hold the most importance globally. Take some classes to understand basic words, and repeat them to your little one in conversation every now and then. Soon, your baby will start to pick them up! Baby Samaira sure seems delighted to hear Spanish words being uttered to her by her mom, and her happiness can also be attributed to how comfortable she looks – wearing Pampers Active Baby diapers is indeed a great idea! Remember that a dry, comfortable baby learns faster (no distractions from the wetness, after all!), so make sure to keep your baby dry and smiling as you converse with her and introduce her to a world of new languages! I'm a Mother of Twin Babies and One Had a Congenital Abnormality
Always expect the unexpected...I completed the last line of a book and slept that day. I absolutely did not have any idea that the same line is going to be true in my case.
Soon, I came to know that I am expecting twins and the whole world around me changed significantly. A mother started taking shape inside me and whatever I used to do, the first thought was about my babies.
And one day, my twin sons were born. They give birth to a new mother. Before having them, life was completely different. Both of them were born with low birth weight and immediately sent to NICU for further care. I could barely see them. I was still under anaesthesia post-C-section. My husband told me that one of our sons had a congenital abnormality and had to be operated the next day. He underwent surgery when he was 2 days old and I was not there with him.
It was too painful for me to think about all the pain he would go through. But luckily all the doctors and nurses were great and the operation was successful. He had a malformed anus and doctors performed a surgery called colostomy. I had never heard about this before and when I Googled, it said bypassing anal area and creating an opening on the left side of stomach.
In simpler words, my baby was doing potty from his stomach and not from the anal area. It was a shock for me for a moment because I had never heard something like this exists. But then I prayed to God for giving me all the strength I needed to take care of him.
I really thank God that my son got the best possible care from Surya Hospitals in Mumbai. The nurses trained me about how to take care of his colostomy. The next question in my mind was- is this permanent? Will he be doing potty always like that? I asked doctors there and they calmly cleared all my doubts. They said it's temporary. When he will be around 9 months old we will reverse the colostomy, means close it and your son will start doing potty the normal way.
I trusted them and finally, my son had a successful reversal surgery and now he does potty the normal way.
This one year journey was the toughest time of my life. I had two babies to take care of. One of them had to be taken to doctors frequently for check ups. But I had a strong family support. My parents, hubby and in-laws, all were there with me.
Sometimes I used to get emotionally exhausted and I could open up with my mother-in-law more than I used to with my mother. Even the caretaker of the children was so good that I did not have to worry about the other twin when I was in hospital with the first one.
Now by God's grace both of them are growing extremely fast and showering love on us. I am through that difficult phase. But it teaches you a lot. You need your family always. Through thick and thin, they will always be with you. You start believing in God and start to believe that someone is taking care of you...
This is not the end of the story but a new beginning- of a newborn mother.

Toys That Are Useful for Babies
I am a mother of a one-year-old boy. For playing with him, I searched for many toys and books and got some special things that help brain development. I haven't brought so many toys for my son. He used to play with his cousin sister's toys. And I realised that this much plastic is a waste. So I thought of buying only useful toys so that we can reduce plastic waste.
These are the toys I brought for him.
The first one is a book It's a set of five books. Animals, vehicles, birds, general knowledge, and nursery rhymes. It's a board book. It will not tear easily. It includes pictures with names. When my baby gets bored, I will teach him each picture, and ask him to tell its name. You should ask your baby every day. Then they will be thorough with it. So it's a book to learn about our surroundings. I recommend everyone to buy this.
The second one is a gardening and beach playset. It's an outdoor play. It includes a sand playset and beach playset. My baby loves to play with that. He will sit calmly and play.
The third one is a colouring book. But it's a reusable water colouring book. A pen is given with it. Fill water in it and colour it in the book. When water sticks on the book, coloured images appear. After playing, dry in the air. Then the colour will disappear. It's useful while travelling. I use this book while my baby is eating anything.
The next one is a splash book with a squeaker. It's a bath toy. But can be used as a normal toy. It helps to keep your baby seated while bathing.
While selecting a toy, try to buy something which is both helpful for playing and developing intelligence. Just try any of these products and share your experience. I think these will be very helpful for moms. I love all these products.

Vaccinations- common side effects and how to deal with them
As we all know vaccines are administered to children and adults to provide protection from various vaccine preventable diseases like measles, mumps ,rubella etc. There are vaccines under national immunization programme and also there are optional vaccines like influenza or flu vaccine which has to be administered every year. Along with the benefits, vaccines have some mild side effects also...so here are some tips to deal with them..
* when you have appointment for your baby's vaccine, you should always carry the vaccination card so that proper record is maintained that which type of vaccine is administered and date.
*keep an ice pack with you and apply ice pack(cold fomentation) at the injection site soon after the dose is administered. This will prevent/reduce pain and swelling at injection site.
* carry paracetamol drops/syrup with you to the hospital and give it to baby after injection at the hospital itself. This will prevent fever development after vaccine and will also reduce pain.
* Feed the baby properly before going for vaccination as babies might get fever, feel tired or feverish and get cranky after vaccine and will not feed/eat properly when they return home.
* precautions for covid vaccine for adults- covid vaccine will be available for all of us soon. Pain at injection site, bodyache, fever with chills and shivering, headache, dizziness and malaise are common known side effects. To avoid these, take proper rest after vaccine, eat well and drink plenty of fluids the whole day, apply ice pack at injection site and take a tablet of paracetamol after vaccine. Inform the vaccinator if you previously had covid or have administered Plasma or presently having fever or cough. These are only minor side effects and the Indian vaccines are absolutely safe for all of us.
I hope you all will find these tips useful. Take care..thanks Read more

A. Cetaphil SPF 50 sunscreen lotion is going to be a very good choice for you to use for your skin it’s one of the best things that you can currently use and I’m very certain it is going to be good for your skin options also otherwise if you want you can try consulting a dermatologist for that

A. For yourself I would recommend you Shatavari powder three times in the day to increase your lactation other than that since your child is six months complete you can give Amul Taaza milk to your child that is easier for the childhood digest and flavour is also good even if you want you can add some dry fruit powder saffron or turmeric for flavour change that’s also a good option to try these alternative
