While a lot of doctors say that babies need to learn how to sleep through the night by six months, a lot of babies take longer. Do not worry as at least 78% of babies between 6-12 months wake up at least once.

Babies might wake up post one sleep cycle (40 minutes) and may not be interested in resettling, and this can be frustrating.

Around 6 months is when babies can get their first cold, and for first-time parents, it can be a real scary experience when they fall ill. It is important that you go with your gut feeling if you think your baby is feeling unwell. 1. Riding lessons:
Here, you can sit on a chair and place your knees together while placing the baby on your knees. He can face you with legs to any of the sides. Place your arms around the baby’s waist and bounce him on your knee while singing “This is the way the lady rides, tri-tree-tree” and drop them during the final TREE. Babies will love it when they’re dropped, and this activity helps in developing their understanding of cause and effect.
2. Tickle and fun:
In this game, you can have a lot of fun during bath time and also improve your child’s verbal and fine motor skill. While they’re having a bath, wet a sponge with water and a bit of soap and say, “I’m going to tickle your toes,” and proceed to tickle them gently with the puff.
Then say you’re going to do the same with their knees and continue to do so as you point it towards different parts of their body. You can conclude the game by giving them the sponge and asking them to play with the same and tickle themselves or place your finger underwater and ask them to tickle your fingers.

When to Consult a Doctor
Your baby is showing signs of repeated illness and is catching colds very often; they could be allergic to some material. Consult a doctor if they’re constantly coughing or sneezing.
Also, if you feel that the baby is not able to digest their food properly or is constantly cranky, it could be because of some internal pain that she cannot express in any other way. Doctors can help diagnose the same and get them back to their playful mood.

Heat a tawa and drizzle oil over it.
When the pan gets heated up, sprinkle some water on it.
Now pour one cup of batter onto it.
When the edges begin to turn brown, pour oil around the uttapam and turn.
Let the other side also become brown.

2. Poha
One of the easiest recipes you can make for brunch, poha is delicious too! Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
Poha, 1 cup
Oil, 1 tablespoon
Hing, 1/8 teaspoon
Mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon
Onions, ½ cup finely chopped
Curry leaves, 10
Whole red chillies, 3
Potatoes, ½ cup, diced
Green chillies, 1 teaspoon, diced
Lemon juice, 1 tablespoon
Coriander leaves, 1 tablespoon, finely chopped
Turmeric, ½ teaspoon
Salt
Lemon wedges
How to Make:
Put the poha in a sieve and wash it. Don’t leave the poha in water for too long.
Sauté the mustard seeds, hing, curry leaves, whole red chillies and mustard seeds.
When the onions start to turn brown, add the potatoes and continue to sauté.
Add turmeric and cook until potatoes are soft.
Turn up the heat, add some salt and then mix in the poha.
Once everything is mixed and cooked, take it off the heat and add lemon juice, coriander and green chillies.
Serve.
3. Aloo Paratha
This is one of the most favoured brunch recipes with potatoes. Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour, 2 cups
Potatoes, 4, boiled and mashed
Green chillies, 2, finely chopped
Red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon
Garam masala powder, ½ teaspoon
Dry mango powder, ½ teaspoon
Coriander leaves, 3 tablespoons, finely chopped
Salt
Oil
How to Make:
Add the spices to the mashed potatoes and mix well.
Take two small circles of dough and roll them out well. Try to make them of the same size.
Place some of the potato stuffing on one of the discs and spread well. Leave an inch from the edges bare.
Place the other rolled disc on top of this one and press the edges well to seal the stuffing in.
Dust some flour on the dough and roll to a normal chapatti size.
Fry on both sides with oil.
Once cooked, serve with tomato chutney or green chilli pickles.
4. Namkeen Seviyaan
Low on oil and with plenty of nuts, this is one of the easiest kid-friendly brunch recipes.
Ingredients:
Vermicelli, 2 ½ cups
Onion, 1, finely chopped
Potato, 1, chopped and boiled
Curry leaves, 10-15
Peanuts, ½ cup, roasted
Mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon
Garlic cloves, 2, chopped
Salt to taste
Oil
How to Make:
Add mustard seeds and curry leaves to hot oil in a wok.
Once they begin to pop, add the garlic and ginger.
Add the onions and sauté until they turn pinkish.
Add the salt and the potatoes and cook well.
Add in the peanuts and boiled vermicelli.
Toss well and serve hot.
5. Rawa Upma
A favourite dish in south India, this brunch food is healthy and filling. Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
Semolina (rawa), 250 grams
Water, 650 grams
Ghee, 75 grams
Mustard seeds, 5 grams
Black gram (kala chana), 2 grams
Bengal gram (chana dal), 2 grams
Onions, 100 grams, sliced
Green chillies, 5 grams, sliced
Cashew nuts, 25 grams
Curry leaves
Salt
How to Make:
Set water to boil.
Heat oil in a wok and add mustard seeds.
When it starts to pop, add the dal and sauté till brown.
Add the curry leaves, onions, chillies and cashew nuts and sauté till the onions become translucent.
Add the semolina and mix well.
Add the boiling water to the mix and keep stirring.
Add salt.
When the water has been absorbed, the upma is ready.
6. Grilled Potato Sandwiches
Potato sandwiches are one of the simple and tasty Sunday brunch recipes. Here is how to make them.
Ingredients:
White bread, 4 slices
Mashed potatoes, 1 ½ cup
Coriander, a few stalks
Ginger, 1 teaspoon, chopped
Green chilli, 1 tablespoon, chopped
Cumin seeds, ½ teaspoon
Salt
Mango powder, ½ teaspoon
Melted butter, 2 tablespoons
Cheddar cheese, 2 slices
Tomatoes, 8, sliced thin
How to Make:
Mix the ginger, green chillies, coriander, cumin seeds, mango powder and salt with the mashed potato.
Butter a slice of bread and spread the potato mixture on one side.
Place a slice on top of the first one.
Place the slices on a heated grill.
Let it cook for a few minutes till it turns golden brown.
Turn it onto the other side and again wait for it to turn brown.
Serve hot.
7. Egg Burji
This spicy scrambled egg recipe is great for brunch.
Ingredients:
Eggs, 4
Onion, 1, finely chopped
Tomatoes, 4, finely chopped
Green chillies, 2, finely chopped
Mustard seeds, 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves, 4
Red chilli powder, 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon
Coriander powder, 1 ½ teaspoon
Cumin powder, ½ teaspoon
Garam masala powder, ½ teaspoon
Dry mango powder, ¼ teaspoon
Coriander, chopped
Oil
Salt
How to Make:
Beat the eggs and set aside.
In a pan, heat oil and add the curry leaves and mustard seeds.
Once they begin to pop, add the green chillies and sauté everything well.
Fry onions for a minute before adding the tomatoes.
Add the turmeric and chilli powder and then salt.
Let this cook for a few minutes on low flame.
Keep mixing it well and once the oil separates, add the eggs.
Mix well for a few minutes and then add the coriander, cumin and garam masala powder.
Add a bit of water and mango powder and cover the pan for two minutes.
Garnish with chopped coriander.
8. Baida Roti
Healthy and delicious, this recipe will be a favourite with your family.

Ingredients:
Eggs, 9
Chicken mince, 1 cup
Oil, 1 tablespoon
Baking powder, 1/8 teaspoon
Onion, 1, finely chopped
Ginger-garlic paste, 1 tablespoon
Maida, 1 cup
Tomatoes, 2, finely chopped
Green chillies, 2, finely chopped
Turmeric powder, a pinch
Salt to taste
Red chilli powder, 1 1/2 teaspoons
Garam masala powder, 1/2 teaspoon
Coriander for garnishing
How to Make:
Mix 1 egg, maida, salt, oil and baking powder in a bowl. Add 1/4 cup of water and knead into soft dough.
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
Roll them out into 8-inch square rotis.
Heat oil in a pan. Add onions and fry till one minute.
Break remaining eggs in a separate bowl and mix well.
Add ginger-garlic paste and saute for one minute.
Add chicken mince and cook for two minutes.
Add tomatoes, green chillis, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and salt and mix well.
Add 3/4th cup water and garam masala powder and cook till mixture is dry.
Heat a tawa. Cook rotis for two minutes on each side.
Pour some beaten egg on top and cook for one minute.
Place a portion of the cooked chicken mixture in the centre, fold the sides to make a square.
Flip and cook till both sides turn golden brown.
Cut into squares and serve hot with coriander garnishing.
9. Onion Paratha
This is a delicious brunch recipe for your family.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour, 2 cups
Turmeric, ¼ teaspoon
Green chillis, 2, sliced
Coriander leaves, one cup, chopped
Oil, ½ cup
Onions, 2, finely chopped
Red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon
Coriander powder, ¼ teaspoon
Salt
How to Make:
Mix all the ingredients into the flour and form into dough.
Cover and keep aside for 15-20 minutes.
Chop the onions and green chillis and keep aside. This is for the filling.
Take out small balls and then roll those out one by one into flat circular discs of 3-4 inch diameter.
Add the chopped onions and chillis in the centre.
Sprinkle red chilli powder, coriander powder and salt.
Bring together all edges of the dough and press downwards.
Sprinkle more flour and roll to a paratha of 6-8 inches diameter.
Fry on a tawa till both sides are cooked.
Serve hot with yoghurt or pickle.
10. Idli
Idlis can be had with chutney, sambar and crisp vadas.
Ingredients:
Idli rice, 1 cup
Urad dal, 1/2 cup
Cold water, 1 cup
Fenugreek seeds, ½ teaspoon
Salt
How to Make:
Wash the dal and the rice separately.
Soak separately for about six hours
Soak the fenugreek seeds with the dal.
Drain water and then grind using a wet grinder, using water when needed.
Let the batter ferment for another six to twelve hours in a cool and dry place.
Boil some water in an idli steamer or in a pressure cooker.
Grease the idli moulds and then gently mix the batter a bit.
Fill the moulds and place inside the steamer or cooker once the water is boiling.
Steam for 10 minutes. The flame should be medium-high.
Remove the idlis once they are cool.
