Travel-Friendly Homemade Cerelac - Easy to Carry, Easy to Cook
Nowadays when almost every mother prefers to keep the homemade food for the babies, one big question that bothers every new mom is what to feed our baby while travelling without getting messy, which is healthy, tasty and has no artificial ingredients.
I got to know about one of such recipes, which is easy to make and even more comfortable to cook which I would like to share.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups of roasted grams(bhuna change)
2 cups of puffed rice(Murra)
Handful of almonds
PREPARATION TIME: 10 minutes
COOKING TIME: 2 minutes
RECIPE
First of all peel off the rind/skin of the roasted grams.
Now take a frying pan and roast it for 2 to 3 minutes in medium flame. And keep it aside
Now also cook the puffed rice in a low flame for the same time duration.
Roast the almonds in a medium flame for 5 minutes.
Grind all of them one by one using a mixer or a grinder and then mix them all.
The cerelac is ready to use and can be used for up to 2 months if kept in an airtight box.
COOKING METHOD: Take 3 tbsp of the cerelac and add hot boiled water and mix it. Keep on adding the water until you reach the desired consistency. And it's ready to feed. You can also add a pinch of salt and some jaggery according to your preferences.
BENEFITS
This particular cerelac is full of carbohydrates, good fats, proteins and calories.
It is really easy to digest for the babies.
It tastes good even without adding any spices, so generally babies like to eat it.
and it is easy to carry and cook while travelling.
PS: You can also use Flattened rice if puffed rice is not available. If you are using the cerelac at home only, then you can also mix any fruits for flavouring. I generally add shredded apple, chickoo or banana.

Toys for Children With Autism to Help Them Learn
Generally, symptoms of autism spectrum disorder start to appear as early as 2 years. So, it is imperative that parents recognise the issue at the earliest and help the child with autism get treated to reduce the symptoms and lead a better life. Since every child or person with autism is different, they need a different set of toys that match their ability, development and skills for better performance. There is an array of toys for children with autism that can help with their development. To help them sustain and develop better, special toys are grouped under different categories, which, therefore, can be chosen according to the age, development stage, and impact of autism a child possesses.
This article is your guide for choosing a perfect toy gift wrapped for your little one with special needs.
What Toys Are Good for Autistic Children
Children with autism may have different impairments with social skills, language skills, motor skills and repetitive behaviour patterns. For example, children high in energy can be gifted play toys which require more physical activity. Children with visual ailments can be given liquid timers for better observation. Educational toys help children with autism therapeutically and also build a platform for reaching their academic goals. There is also a wide range of sensory toys that a child with autism can pick to get them engaged in a way they prefer.
1. Sensory Toys
Sensory toys are designed to keep the child engrossed in an activity which makes them enjoy their most preferred senses. They come in different sizes and shapes. Children who are undergoing therapies for treating Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) are often impacted by stress due to time-consuming treatments. In such a scenario, these sensory toys come handy as they act as a safe object that helps the child to keep their stress levels low. Occupational therapists usually advise children with SPD to use sensory toys to complete their therapies.
How They Help
Children with SPD become very sensitive and stressed when new taste, sound, touch, feel, or sight is introduced to them. However, to calm children during such situations, a right sensory toy that a child likes is used to keep the child’s composure. Once the child comfortably interprets a sense better, slowly other sensory toys can be introduced. These are the best toys for autistic toddlers since the whole idea behind the use of sensory toys is to decline a child’s fear and difficulties in a natural way. Proper use of sensory toys for children with autism may help them improve their communication skills due to low levels of stress.
Which Toys You Can Pick
Fidget blocks.
Real-life toys like kitchen items and dolls to promote cognitive skills.
Memory games to develop the ability to match.
Chew toys made with non-toxic silicone.
Sensory rings for introducing textures.
2. Visual Toys
You can find different sets of toys that are designed to have a cause-and-effect pattern. These toys create visual interest in children with ASD and help them blossom in a fun way. Different sound patterns and colourful flashing lights in these toys make the child fall in love with them.
How They Help
Visual toys flash a light, create a sound, move, spin or light up, keeping a child with autism interested visually. Toys under this category immensely develop hand and eye coordination as the child progresses with these pretty lot.
Which Toys You Can Pick
Interactive toys for children with visual impairments.
Sound puzzles.
Fidget spinners to learn rotation.
Light up blocks.
Marble run.
Liquid timers.
Mechanical sets.
Colourful ooze tubes.
Rainstick.
3. Physical Activity Toys
According to the problems, a proper physical activity toy for a child has to be chosen with respect to age and level of development. Physical activity toys can be chosen to develop fine motor skills and gross motor skills to strengthen the child’s bones and muscles. You can observe the way your child uses his/her hands in joining, building, stacking or matching the toys using these toys.
How They Help
Indulging your child in physical activity toys can be beneficial for the development of motor skills in the early stages. Hence autism therapy toys are used by doctors for treating children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). It is also imperative to choose these toys that match the child’s ability, just to ensure that the difficulty level of the toy is fine for your child. Toys of these sorts help a child to use both hands while playing, and the child figures out ways to manipulate the toy pieces.
Which Toys You Can Pick
Building blocks for problem-solving skills and motor skills
Lacing beads for understanding sequencing
Pattern cards for developing motor skills
Stacking toys.
Sorting toys
Colouring with rock crayons and finger crayons
Drawing and painting
4. Educational Toys
Educational toys have pictorial representations and creativity that emphasize the cognitive skills of a child with ASD. Such toys develop an interest in a child and often work as a base for improving verbal communication and identifying letters and words. However, there are also toys for preschoolers with autism that have fun pictures that a child can repeatedly choose, helping them familiarise themselves with the pictures.
How They Help
Educational toys widely contribute to developing knowledge and memory for autistic children in a simple and enjoyable way. These toys work better in improving the receptive and expressive vocabulary of the child. You can choose books that are repetitive in nature that help the child learn vocabulary unknowingly in a fun way.
Which Toys You Can Pick
Repetitive books
Big stickers and small stickers
Sticker books
Fixing letters and alphabets in the right space designed for it
Board of basic skills like buttoning shirts, lacing shoes, etc.
Flashcards
5. Other Best Toys for Autism
Manipulative toys like card games and categorising games work wonders for developing mathematical skills and learning patterns for autistic children.
Puzzles will be a great pick for improving the problem-solving abilities of an autistic child.
Exercise balls and trampolines promote vestibular input for children with autism.
Water beads and sensory bags help in gaining focus and attention in children.
Toys like a crash mat, bean bags, stuffed animals, etc., provide proprioceptive inputs for a child with autism and help in strengthening bones and muscles.
Egg shakers, rainmakers and music mats provide input for developing audio senses in children.
How to Choose Toys for Autistic Kids
Observe your child’s interests and choose a toy that better matches his/her interest.
Choosing highly challenging toys can worsen the condition of the child.
Opt for toys under one category first based on your child’s ability, like choosing a sensory development toy first and then going for educational toys.
Eagerly watch out for the reaction of your child when they hold a particular toy.
Choose toys that are educational and help in developing their social interaction.
Select the ones which are apt for their development stage and not their age precisely.
Selecting toys that encourage shared play will help them socialise better.
While it may be overwhelming when you enter a toy shop due to the vast collection, you need to gauge your child’s requirements before picking a proper toy for an autistic child. Understand the child’s needs and pick the appropriate ones to make the most of it. Else you might find the toys stored in the closet, unused. Right toys can help your child with ASD develop better in every aspect of life.

Imagination Has No Boundaries- Children Have Always Proven This ?
Born from a mother’s womb
They live in every heart
Obstreperous by nature
They are God’s finest creation
Loving them is all you can do
As hating them can’t be true
Believe it or not, children have the ability to make you agree to whatsoever they want for themselves.
They are the biggest blackmailers and we get blackmailed easily by them. My son gives me goosebumps every now and then. He is a great fan of horror movies and serials. He loves seeing them every hour.
Every morning, talks begin not with good morning but with “Mama, I had a dream about a ghost, a haunted house, a vampire, zombies.”
But, today Iwas astounded. My son got up with a smile on his face. Confused, I asked him what’s the matter, and told him "Don’t think you will take a holiday from school." He smiled and said ,“ Mom I had a beautiful dream today.” My jaw fell open. Dream that too beautiful not horror !!!! I asked him, what was it and then the chatterbox started off…
I was the prince mom, you and dad were the queen and king. We were in a chocolatey world. Everything was in brown chocolate but only our beds were white in color made of milkibar chocolate.
Doraemon was my ride and Superman and Batman were my bodyguards. Action Kamen and Shin Chan were my best friends. All the people were very happy in our kingdom. There were no fights and no bad people. There was no race for earning money .
People had their own land and own cow. I had a helicopter on which I use to take a ride of our kingdom. There was snow for six months in a year and I made a lot of frozen figures, snow man etc .
Above all, there was no school in our kingdom. Children use to play all day long and eat chocolate from my palace and the chocolate came back by itself. “ It was a magic kingdom.” I interrupted and asked him, “How did you increase your knowledge ?” “How did you read books ?” His answer made me laugh aloud. He answered, "Hey mom its dream and we all are very much educated.” He continued saying dad never used to go to office. Children used to live with their parents. Above all, there were no smartphones, only landlines. Mom and dad had lots of time for their kids and children and used to play a lot of outdoor games. He was giggling when he told me this and asked me, "Mom when will I live my dream!!!!" I was speechless and asked him to get ready for the school.
These cartoons... they make our child’s imagination so wild, immense, stupendous, encyclopedic that at times it feels that some day their innocent dreams should definitely come true as ....
The innocence of children is what makes them stand out as a shining example to the rest of mankind.
Children are innocent, creative and naughty too … its often said, “A child’s face is the index of his mind.” Hopefully someday this world will be a better place to live in and to some extent children will actually live their fantasy world….. be it not a chocolatey world but we can well imagine a world in 2050 or even later, what is shown in Hollywood movies might be true some day.
Kids are innocent, lovely and kind
Being rude is not their mind
They know how to impress you
With those hugs and kisses right through
They are stubborn, they are aggressive
You can’t Judge them, they are possessive
Rebuke them, they will be mad
Embrace them, they will be glad
Kids are kids born to be like this….

Saying ‘NO’ to your Child
A two-tiered ice-cream, the third piece of candy, watching television for the fourth hour in a row – all these are situations that could have you in knots and itching to say NO to your little one. But it is only the fear of having a showdown with her that is holding you back. It is important, however, to put your foot down and be firm with her at the right times.
As a parent, it is our responsibility to ensure that our kids get the things that are best for them. Now, kids may not necessarily agree with everything we say or the limits we set for them. However, remember at all times – you are not responsible for their acceptance of your limits, but just for their implementation. So, brace yourselves for some tough negotiation or none at all as the case may be, ahead.
Getting over your Mind Block
The first stumbling block to conquer is making up our own minds about setting limits for our little one. The earlier this is done, the better it shall be for all the parties concerned. You have to mentally prepare yourself with the fact that this is in the best interest of your little one. Once this is done, refusing the night-out at a new kid’s house, purchase of toy just like the other kid has, or even 2-minute noodles for breakfast, lunch and dinner may not be so tough for you.
Setting The Guidelines
As you go along, chalk out the areas that you would like to begin with. The initial challenge would be to get the message across that mom and dad now mean serious business. Hence, try and pick areas that are known to have a clash of opinions – this is only to drive home the point that ‘no’ is now a definite option. Discuss the guidelines with her before you start applying them. Springing it on them has not helped anyone ever.
Discussing Them with Your Partner
Speak out your plans with your partner – your guidelines as well as your reasoning. Not only will this help in bringing both of you on the same page, but it will get you another perspective and help you thrash it out better with reasoning. Thus, you are better equipped with your reasoning when the little voice pips out with demands to know ‘why’.
Negotiating with Them
Be sure that ‘no’ won’t change. Be firm with your decision; this is why reasoning your decision with your partner beforehand is important. It helps you make sure your decision is right, and therefore stick to it in the face of all and severe opposition. Once you have announced your decision, offer to explain your stand once. After that, you don’t owe your little one an explanation. Try talking to her after she has let off some steam, to reason once again.
If you are in a spot where the little one comes up with a solution that seems like a win-win for both, reserve your answer. Think it over and discuss it with your partner, if need be. You have the right to do so and give an answer over dinner or the next day, depending on the gravity of the topic in discussion.
Be Prepared for The Backlash
Rest assured that you will bear the brunt of this hara-kiri you have committed by refusing your princess something. This may be in the form of the silent glare over the dinner table, no return flying kiss as she steps into her school bus, etc. Brace yourself for this too.
Saying ‘No’ is one of the most difficult things to do, but it is very necessary to imbibe discipline in your child. One last suggestion- Learn to count backwards from a gazillion to one; it should help you keep patience in these testing times. Read more

Importance of Connecting with your Preschooler
As your baby grows from being an infant to a toddler; and then a preschooler, you will notice his surge for independence. Your young one may seem to be steadily stepping out, and exploring ways to be independent in doing certain tasks, be it brushing teeth, putting on clothes, feeding him/her self. Apart from you getting a time-off, it is enjoyable to see those little hands and feet at work.
With this independence, it’s very important that we connect with our kids physically, emotionally and socially, and explain to them at each step what is right and what is wrong. Children at this age can show extreme emotions.
For example, if a friend is annoyed, either s/he will shout, cry or get angry and may throw things. It’s important at this stage to explain to the child how they should handle such emotions, and develop better social skills. Remember that the basics taught at the right time will play a huge role in your child’s life later on.
Developing Self-esteem and a Positive Outlook:
A positive self-image helps an individual to understand the reason behind a failure, and accept it without undergoing any emotional extremes. Though it is not right to expect a balanced outlook towards life at the age of 3 and 4, you can definitely contribute in developing your child’s behaviour a little at a time. Given below are some pointers you can follow:
Explain your child about his relations with relatives, what s/he is to his cousins, grandparents etc. This will make him feel a part of the family circle.
Encourage your child to take independent decisions (be it small) for example, what clothes s/he wants to wear or what a child would want to have in a restaurant.
Ask them to preserve their kindergarten pictures or drawings in a folder and keep them in their cupboard.
Give them a space in their room wherein they can keep their little stuff, it can be a paper, a chocolate or just a stick which they found in the park.
Appreciate your child when s/he does well and encourage for achieving more.
Saying ‘Thank you’ and ‘Sorry’ can go a long way in teaching children the essence of using such words.
Hug them, pat them, listen to them and play with them.
Do not scream at their mistakes, but help them realize its ok but they need to correct their mistakes and try not to repeat them in future.
Tell them stories about the scenario they are facing and what can be possible outcomes of the same.
In case, they tried doing something but could not accomplish the task, try to help them and explain them how the task can be accomplished.
Encourage them to play more team games rather than individual games.
If your child and his/her friends are fighting, intervene and encourage them to work out a solution for their problem and once the solution is agreed, appreciate all of them for solving the issue in a nice manner.
Developing Social Skills
Social development is a very important part of a child’s growth. For developing good relations with people from different age groups, it is important that a child should learn certain basic social skills:
Teach your child the importance of sharing, taking turns, helping others.
Make them learn the importance of speaking, as well as listening. Tell them how to use the right words and language to convey something to their friends, parents, relatives etc.
Co-operating with friends, and supporting them.
In 90% of the cases, children learn social skills by observing their parents when they are around people.
Pretend plays are a very good mode of teaching your child about social skills.
Encourage them to play games that involve winning and losing. Encourage their participation in group games and activities.
Connection parenting will help in bringing out your natural parenting ‘know-hows’. Your kid will listen and co-operate depending on how you behave with him/her. Here’s wishing you luck in connecting with your child. Read more

It's Okay to Not Fall in Love With Your Baby at First Sight
It has been two months since I welcomed my baby into this world and these months have been a roller coaster ride. Having a baby is overwhelming, a baby boy, even more, because whenever he pees, it goes everywhere. Excuse me, for my lame sense of humour, but this is just a sleep-deprived mother trying to be funny...trying to find humour in the daily struggles of life. Suddenly, life is all about soiled diapers and feeds. Frankly, nobody prepared me for this. Post-delivery, a woman is physically exhausted. There are stitches, pain, and bleeding, and then there is a tiny human being to look after. He has only you and he needs only you.
I never thought of myself as a person who was fond of kids. I never coochie-cooed them. But here I am with a tiny little human being, the one I made. During delivery, I told my husband that I was a cool girl once and look, what I have become. And he said, "You are still a cool girl and you are doing the coolest job that not everyone can do." And that changed my perspective about things and life. I think it's okay to not immediately fall in love with your baby, i.e., at the moment you see him. I know it is not a popular opinion and I might receive judgemental glares from some for such an un-motherly statement, but I guess it takes time to feel love for someone. When you are exhausted, it takes time for affection to come. At least, it did in my case. But with each passing day, my baby and I are growing, and we are learning to live with each other and teaching each other new things.
The first time I told my baby, ''I love you'' was when he was just three weeks old. I said it because it was honest and I felt it. Hence, I wanted to say it. I kissed him and he smiled, then he peed on me. Life is going to be different now. Every single day there will be a new story. We will make memories. I will cuddle him and kiss him. I will have sleepless nights. He will pee and poop, but that's okay. I guess I have found a new friend...a friend for life maybe.

For yourself I would recommend you Shatavari powder three times in the day to increase your lactation other than that since your child is six months complete you can give Amul Taaza milk to your child that is easier for the childhood digest and flavour is also good even if you want you can add some dry fruit powder saffron or turmeric for flavour change that’s also a good option to try these alternative

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. Sometimes baby does not poop for 7-10 days. Please massage baby stomach clockwise and anti-clockwise. You can also apply hing water on baby stomach. Also do some cycling leg exercises of the baby to relieve from constipation and gas. Please make the baby burp after every feed. Mother should chew saunf and ajwain after every meal.
