Why Kissing is More Powerful Than you Thought
As if we didn't adore kissing enough already, there are health benefits to smooching that will leave you floored! We recommend you learn these interesting facts about kissing because bidding adieu to troubles is just a kiss away!
Did you think that the only benefit of kissing, apart from feeling so good, is the triggering of sexual desire? Well, kissing goes much beyond the carnal sphere and gives you perks you probably didn’t know existed.
Totally Fun Kissing Facts You Should Swear By
1. Kissing Releases The Love Hormone
You know that kissing is the ignition to sexual activity. But did you also know that kissing your partner can boost your relationship at a deeper level? When you lock lips with your husband, the hormone ‘oxytocin’ is released. This particular "love" hormone brings in intimacy into your relationship and helps you feel connected! Now, isn't this a kissing fact to always keep in mind?
2. Bye-Bye, Stress!
Had a stressful day? How about taking your spouse to a corner and stealing a proper, intimate kiss? When you're stressed, a hormone called cortisol is released in your body and this can be very harmful to your health. Some studies have shown that kissing helps lower this hormone, thereby reducing daily stressors. What's more, when you kiss passionately, your heartbeat also accelerates. This is good for controlling high blood pressure - another stress-related problem. Doesn't seem like just one of those funny kissing facts anymore, right?
3. Mom-to-be Kiss Often
Do you know one of the most popularly believed facts about kissing? Pregnant women should kiss more often. Feeling stumped? The reason behind this is that kissing releases happy hormones which keep an expecting mother cheerful. Kissing also helps in boosting a woman’s immunity towards cytomegalovirus - a harmful virus. So, if you're pregnant, kiss daily and happily alleviate concerns of any birth defects in your baby.
4. Shoo Away The Cramps, Not Your Partner!
Headache? Menstrual cramps? Instead of popping a pill, spend some time cuddling and kissing with hubby. If you think it’s just a funny kissing fact, try it out and you will know the answer. A long session of intimate smooching can help in dilating your blood vessels, which in turn aids in reducing your aches and cramps. The next time you get a headache, instead of shooing your partner away, call him close to you and kiss!
5. Get Toned Cheeks
If you're worried about drooping facial muscles and have tried muscle strengthening exercises in vain, there's hope in kissing! According to some research, 30 muscles are used at the time of intimate kissing. If you kiss regularly, you're bound to get tighter and better-toned cheeks. Wow!
Now that you know these random facts about kissing and how they can help you lead a healthy and more stress-free life, gear up. Cozy up with hubby, forget staying frazzled and hassled and kiss away! Read more

How to Save Water At Home to Address the Water Crisis
Going by the current scenario, it gives me the chills as a parent to even think about the future our children are going to have! Despite having our beautiful planet covered 71% by water, alas, there is only 2.5% of it to drink and in the future, that too will be scarce!
In India itself, 21 cities with a population of 100 million including metros like Delhi, Bengaluru and Chennai will run out of groundwater by 2020. That's less than 6 months away! How can we all be so oblivious to such a global issue which will affect us directly?! And let’s not blame the government and people in high places for it, ok? Do you do the bare minimum to keep the water wastage under control?
Here Are a Couple of Changes We Have Incorporated in Our House:
Get rid of the water pipes! We don’t realise how much water we waste by using our pipes to clean the driveway/water plants. It’s convenient but causes a real dent to our water supply!
Don’t drain the RO waste water, instead, use it for mopping floors/washing cars/washing utensils/ watering plants, etc.
Use a water bucket and a mop to clean your cars and you really don’t have to wash all your cars on the same day even if you don’t take them out! Fix a day for every car and ration the amount of water you need to clean every car!
Use the old-fashioned water cans with spouts to water plants every alternate day, you need the greens more than anything right now, but don’t fill the pots to the brim with water either!
Skip the shower and use a bucket for a bath. And give yourself 2 minutes and 1 bucket for bath and if the water is left, don’t drain it. Leave it for the next family member or water plants with it!
When serving water, fill only half the cups and refill it if someone asks.
Don’t waste water from old bottles or cups, instead use them for watering plants.
Wash your vegetables and fruits in a bowl of water, please don’t put them directly under the running tap.
Put a glass/mug in every washroom next to the wash basin for brushing/shaving. Switching the tap on and off real quick really won’t help the cause!
As much as our kids are water babies, let’s not waste water in inflatable pools at home for only an hour of fun and frolic for the kids! And if you still do, at least reuse the water for gardening or cleaning.
Use their inflatable pools to collect rainwater you can use in the household.
Reuse your towel for about a week before you throw it in for washing. Similarly, if your clothes (except innerwear) are not dirty or soaked in sweat, re-wear them.
Educate your kids and house-help about the problem and how important it is to address it for the sake of their own future!
Please feel free to add to the list and incorporate them into your lifestyle too! All suggestions are welcome and will be much appreciated.

Lets start with solids : Our little step towards big world of food
Being a new mom of a cute little princess every new milestone is a huge encouragementfor both of us ! So when my daughter turned 5 month old doctor suggested we start with semi solids and here is our little venture with semi solids .
Being a doctor myself i only relied on my pardiatrician , who guidelines and my own instinct .
To all the mommys out there who are planning to start with the weaning here are basic essentials that are required :
1.Trunk control yes the most important . Your baby must be able to sit ny himself or herself with or without support. Remember semi solids should only be fed in upright position.
2. Temprature of the food should not be to hot or too cold it should be lukewarm
3. Though you can mix the food with breastmilk or formula feed but my doctor suggested we go ahead with water and not milk
4. No force feeding: Food should be enjoyed by the child and incase thechild isnt having when you offer then change the time .
5. High chair / chair : make sure the meals are given to the baby only at one particular place . Kindly refrain from puting on music or screen time when starting with feeding it will distract the baby and baby might not have the food.
6.Bibs: go for full sleeved ones and plastic ones and on top of it use a cotton one this will not soil clothes and the child can enjoy the meal too.
7. Bowl and spoon : I use a suction bowl by mee mee which helps me to avoid any spillage and as advised by the doctor I started with a soft tipped spoon as the babygums are delicate and soft .
Phew !!!! So these are the basic weaning essentials one needs before they start !
So we started with the rule of 1 food 1 day 1 meals for 3 days then progressed to adding 1 new food and 1 old foodcontinued again for 3 days and so on . We stuck to only 2 meals a day till the baby turned 6 months .
Red flags to be taken care of !!!
Be aware of any allergies that might devlop look for blisters , diarhoea , constipation.
Consistency of the food should be according to the babys need not too liquid not too thick it should be runny.
Keep in mind not to use the same food for next day always prepare fresh food .
You can boil or steam the food and mash it with hand or masher !
Here is a list of foods that we have introduced ive made it easy by dividing them into four section ! Would be writing about them in my next blog !

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. But it is really very difficult to say anything without proper examination. It is advisable to get yourself evaluated by a doctor and follow doctors advise properly. You can also book online doctor’s appointment on FirstCry where the doctor can help you and guide you properly.
Thanks and take care

Q. #asktheexperts what to do if the baby’s nose is blovked
Dr Sameer awadhiya

A. Nasal blockage is very common, specially in small children because of the narrow nasal cavity. Any kind of saline drops like nasal clear will be helpful in dissolving the stuffy secretions, which can be taken out by vnasal aspirator gently also steam inhalation will be helpful also, try to avoid keeping the child directly under the fan.
