Preschooler Month 61-66 — Growth and Development
Your little one is now quite big! Your child is running, speaking, eating on his own, if he wishes to, and can dress himself up fine. Don’t worry, the growing up is far from done. You can still have your little baby and you are still the most important person in his life. Let's look at some fun things your child will be doing between months 61 and 66!
At 61 months changes are slower than before but they are still happening! Keep an eye out for the following developments in your little one in these months so that you don't miss out on the beauty of growth in your child. This is actually the most vital time to give your child your attention more than ever before.
Physical Development
You already have a little runner at hand but now you child will be able to change and alternate directions while running quite easily.
If your child is accustomed to gadgets then you will notice how effortlessly he uses the keyboard and mouse to navigate. But do ensure that your child gets as much physical activity as he does mentally, you do not want a case of 'too much tech and no play'!
Socio-emotional Development
On the obedience front, your child would have acknowledged his parents are not just caregivers but also disciplinarians he can trust. This means that he will comply with requests from you much more now.
You child also knows how to share his attention amongst all the people he knows and loves like parents, teachers, friends and siblings.
Emotions are much more controlled and he knows just how to express extreme emotions like sadness and anger.
Cognitive Development
You'll find that your child will reason a lot more now. He will try and think of why things happen and probably ask questions about his reasoning.
He will also become a lot more observant. The little genius will also know everyday things now like the use of money, importance of food and why appliances are used and for what.
By now your child most likely has a set of friends and enjoys playing in groups both indoors and outdoors.
He can trace around his own hand with a crayon. This is a great time to appreciate arts and crafts so as to encourage the skill in your child.
Linguistic Development
Your child's speech will keep improving as he gets older. Now he can speak more clearly and uses more complex sentences to express his ideas.
He can also make use of story cards appropriately. He understands the sequence of a short story well and enjoys arranging cards in a sequential order.
Very soon you'll be in the midst of tiffin boxes and homework, but not so soon! Let's see what's in store as your little one moves on to the next stage of life.

Tubal Ligation Reversal - Procedure, Risks and Success Rate
One of the most important phases of a woman’s life is when she’s pregnant and ready to bring another life into the world. However, there are cases where some women decide to get a tubal ligation surgery done wherein the fallopian tubes are tied together to prevent the woman from getting pregnant.
If you’re someone who has undergone the tubal ligation process, then that does not mean you cannot get pregnant again. There is a procedure known as the 'tubal ligation reversal' process wherein you can untie the tubes and stand a chance of getting pregnant once again.
What is Tubal Ligation Reversal?
In the Tubal ligation reversal process, a surgeon will untie, reopen or reconnect the fallopian tubes so that you can stand a chance of having a baby once again. The process involves medical consultation with a doctor. Based on whether it is medically safe for you to go ahead with the procedure, the doctor will give his opinion and you can then take an informed decision.
Why is Tubal Reversal Done?
The process is generally done by women who have had their tubes tied, in a procedure known as the postpartum tubal ligation. This is done in order to be able to conceive again.
Who Can Have Tubal Reversal Surgery?
The tubal ligation surgery can be undergone by anyone and doctors recommend the procedure for those women who are below 40 years. This procedure can be carried out for women who have had the ligation done right after childbirth and the procedure will enable them to once again untie the tubes.
Also, there are a lot of factors that doctors take into consideration when they carry on with the procedure. These include:
The age and BMI of the person involved
The type of tubal ligation that you want to undergo
Any damage that has been present in your fallopian tubes prior to the surgery
The remaining length of the tube
Factors such as fertility and egg quality and sperm count
Based on these factors, the doctor can help you make an informed decision as to whether you should carry on with the surgery or not. Once they provide the go-ahead, there are a few things you can do to prepare yourself for the same.
What If You Are Not a Candidate for Tubal Reversal?
If you’re not a candidate for the procedure, the doctor will inform you. It is a very sensitive surgery and if you’re not eligible for the same, you can stand the chance of harming your health and the doctor will not allow the procedure to continue.
The success of the procedure is higher if you’ve had a procedure earlier with the help of rings or clips instead of having the fallopian tubes burned off (Electrocautery).
How to Prepare for the Procedure?
To prepare for the procedure, the doctor will keep you informed regarding the different details. He will also tell you the likelihood of you getting pregnant after the surgery and discuss other general terms of pregnancy such as IVF.
There will be a physical checkup to confirm whether it is safe for you to proceed with getting the surgery done. Also, you may undergo certain blood and imaging tests as well. There is a particular test known as the Hysterosalpingogram that will help in knowing the functioning and lengths of your fallopian tubes. The test can be conducted with the help of X-rays and dyes.
Your partner might also have to undergo certain tests such as the sperm count test and semen analysis to rule out any fertility issues.
How is Tubal Ligation Reversal Surgery Done?
The tubal reversal procedure is done with the help of robotic or laparoscopic equipment for the surgery. The tiny cameras will help the doctor conduct the surgery in a safe and secure manner and he will make a small incision on your stomach.
Once the incision is made, the doctor will proceed to expose the uterus, fallopian tubes and the ovaries. He will then remove the fragmented sections of the fallopian tube and go ahead and attempt to repair the tube with stitches, if possible.
If too much of the tubes were removed during the initial ligation surgery, the doctor will not be able to reattach the fallopian tube once again.
Risks and Complications of the Surgery
As with any surgery, there are a few risks involved and you must be prepared for the same. Some of these complications involve:
Not being able to get pregnant once the procedure is done. There are multiple factors governing the success of this surgery and a 100% success rate cannot be guaranteed.
Bleeding.
Infection.
The probability of the fallopian tubes getting scarred.
Other organs getting injured during the surgery.
Anaesthesia complications.
An ectopic pregnancy where the egg is implanted outside the uterus which means that it will need to be aborted.
What About the Recovery After a Tubal Reversal?
Once the tubal reversal procedure is done, you will feel a little numbness and discomfort in your abdomen area but that is completely normal at this stage. After a couple of weeks, you can resume your normal activities and the stitches should dissolve by then.
You can have a follow-up appointment with the doctor to confirm the same and once he is okay with it, you can carry on with your normal activities. Painkillers can be prescribed for any pain you face after the surgery.
What is the Success Rate of Tubal Ligation Reversal?
The success rate of the procedure greatly depends on a number of factors such as the age of the woman, and the type of ligation procedure that was done initially.
The chances of hitting pregnancy after tubal reversal are higher if the woman is below the age of 35. Alternative options such as In-vitro fertilization (IVF) can be considered for conceiving a child.
There are also certain outpatient surgeries that can be done in order to increase the chances of getting pregnant by around 90%. You can talk to your doctor regarding the same and get it done.
What Are the Alternatives to Tubal Ligation Reversal?
If you want to know how to get pregnant after tubal ligation without reversal, you can consider alternatives such as IVF. In the IVF procedure, the eggs and the sperm are fertilized outside the body of the two parents. Once they do so, the fertilized egg is then placed back into the womb of the mother’s uterus and she can carry on with the procedure as normal.
It is important to go through every procedure and alternative with an open mind before making a decision. You will be able to breathe easy knowing that most of the tubal ligation reversal procedures are successful but at the same time, you have to consider other options so as to not get disappointed.
How Much Does Tubal Reversal Surgery Cost In India?
The tubal reversal procedure costs differ based on the complexity of the surgery involved and the type of clinic that you go to. General costing for the surgery is anywhere around Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 5 Lakhs.
Thus, the tubal ligation reversal surgery can be a topic of discussion which can bring up a bit of tension in your family. If you’re sure that you want to go ahead with the procedure, ensure that you’re able to feel at ease with the whole idea. Ultimately, it is your life and the decisions that you take should not impact others.
Make sure you and your partners read about the precautions behind the procedure so that you are well informed regarding the procedure. Doctors will be able to guide you and perform the operation, but it of prime importance that you take all factors into consideration and not go through with the procedure just because you wish to have a baby once again.

A Review of the Intellikit by Firstcry- A Must Try for All Moms!
The
latest rage among mothers of young children is the Intellikit by Firstcry.
Haven’t heard of them yet? Let me explain why they are so popular! Designed
to cater to the age groups 2-3 years (Little Masters), 3-4 years (Everyday
Heroes) and 4-6 years (Young Professionals), these activity boxes are the
perfect way to keep kids away from screen time. In fact the motto of these kits
is asking parents to “Take the #NoScreenDay pledge.”
On the 1st anniversary of The
South Delhi Playdates Group, Firstcry sent across 9 trial boxes of the
intellikit for kids between the ages of 2-3 years. These included 2 activities,
3 worksheets, 3 intellicards, a sample calendar of activities and a sample
development tracker. The activities were designed to instantly engage the
attention of toddlers. The two piece puzzles were a big hit, as was the Velcro
sticking activity and the star shaped stickers. The theme of the trial kit was ‘Space’
and the material was completely in-sync with that. There
are a lot of activity boxes and kits in the market so what makes the Intellikit
by Firstcry stand out?
Let’s have a look at some of its unique features·
Just
the right number of activities. The main kits have 8 activities
and 10 worksheets which is just the correct number to keep the kids engaged
over the period of a few weeks.·
Can do
each activity more than once. Young toddlers often want to
return to an activity they
enjoyed and the intellikit allows you to do that. There are a large number of
stickers; the two
piece puzzles can be done any number of times as can the Velcro activity.·
Easy-to-handle
material which allows little hands to sift through and choose what
they want to do.·
Added
benefits of the calendar and development tracker which
enables parents to monitor how
the progress the children have made as
well as provide extra activities to perform during the month!·
Reasonably
priced. Most of the other kits in the market are quite expensive
which makes parents hesitate to make that kind of investment, especially for
young toddlers who have short attention spans.Overall,
the Intellikit by Firstcry is well-designed, easy to use and engaging. I have
seldom come across 9 kids in a room sitting in such silence! They were all
enthralled with the activities and sat and completed quite a few of them in one
sitting. As part
of the group’s promotion, Firstcry has offered a 70% discount (yes, that’s a
huge discount!) and a large number of moms have already placed orders for the
same. The interesting thing is that mothers with older kids have also ordered
the Intellikit designed for the 3-4 years and 4-6 years age group. All in
all, I’d recommend the Firstcry Intellikit program as a mom who is interested
in her child’s development and also needs to keep her kid engaged and busy. The
activities can be repeated over and over and they never stop being fun! Read more

The 9 Lessons Alan Rickman Taught Beautifully as Professor Snape
Alan Rickman, the erudite British stage actor who played the brooding, powerful Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, passed away on January 14, 2016. The magnificent actor who had a theatre and film career spanning over 40 years gained immense popularity through his movies “Die Hard”, “Love Actually” and eventually the Potter series.
Alan Rickman portrayed the character of Severus Snape, the Potions Master in Hogwarts, so beautifully that it felt as if the pages of the books had come alive. He had the same spellbinding voice, the sarcasm, the perfection and the charisma - and the absolute refusal to stand nonsense. He would say: “I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death.” Today, as we remember some of our favourite screen moments of him, we can't help but fervently wish for a spell that would do just that.
We may have lost him to cancer, but the cinematic moments he created for us are unforgettable and will forever be held dear. Presenting our favourite lessons from Professor Snape's life and times. And yes, as you will find out if you haven't already, he was anything but the villain!
Reasons We Love Professor Snape - Always!
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
1. For the classroom mantra we should get our kids to memorize by heart: “The mind is not a book to be opened at will and examined at leisure.”
This beautiful life lesson he gave to Harry when he saw his memory of seeing his parents in the Mirror of Erised: “Well, it may have escaped your notice, but life isn't fair.”
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
He taught the kids to not be deceived by appearances. It was his – the “villain's” - counterjinx that saved Harry during the Quidditch match in his first year at Hogwarts.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
He shielded the kids from Professor Lupin who had transformed into a werewolf. Never mind that he was wandless too and had danger staring right in the face.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
For his endurance, strength of character and capacity to love. Even years after Lily, the woman he loved, was killed, his Patronus was still a doe. Just like hers.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
His sheer expertise and perfection at his work – from Duelling to Occlumency to Defence Against the Dark Arts. To the magical way he asked everyone to turn to Page 394!
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
For unyielding devotion and loyalty to a promise he had made. He risked his life repeatedly by being in proximity of Lord Voldemort and other Death Eaters – all because of his promise to Dumbledore.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
How, during his last moments, he told Harry he had his mother's eyes. He loved her so, even after all this time.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="514"] Source: Pinterest[/caption]
Finally, he taught us how memories live on forever. In pensieves, in conversations and in the people who matter to us. Harry Potter named his son Albus Severus Potter after the two men who risked everything for him.
Alan Rickman, you will be missed. Thank you for bringing to us powerful magic and eternal excellence through your contribution to theatre and cinema. Read more

Arranged Marriage - The Best Responsibility
Why are arranged marriages the best? Firstly, parents from both sides verify each other’s family background up to the past four generations. They gather information on each other’s way of living, major family problems, past or present criminal records, behavior, beliefs, etc. After all verifications, they gather information about the groom or bride, their nature, characteristics, education, qualities, etc. The best advantage of an arranged marriage is the couple starts their life from scratch – from silence to knowing each other, from small and big fights to understanding one another. Love and affection grow gradually; with time, they grow a stronger bond that lasts until death. Both men and women stand by and support each other in all situations and circumstances. Problems and disputes between the two are usually less. Eventually, the arranged marriage turns into a love marriage when the space between them is filled by the toothless smile of a tiny baby.
An arranged marriage happens when parents or other elder family members look for a suitable match to be wed. Sometimes the match can also be brought by religious gurus, teachers, close friends of the family, near or distant relatives, etc. Today, arranged marriages are mostly practiced in southern Asian, African, and east and middle eastern cultures. It is also practiced in eastern and south-eastern Asian cultures to some extend.
An arranged marriage is not an alliance between two people; it is an alliance between families. Several western cultures do not agree with arranged marriages. It is quite common in the West to form a deep emotional bond with someone before marriage is even considered.
However, though arranged marriages start with no or minimum love, the care, love, and affection grow with time and are believed to last longer than love marriages. Nevertheless, whether it is an arranged or a love marriage, love, trust, and care are key in keeping it growing and going forever.
