They soon started settling down by building homes and also began searching food sources. As winter set in, many pilgrims died because of harsh weather conditions. Squanto, an Indian came to their rescue and taught them how to sow corn plants and other such kinds of crops. The harvest was bountiful and they not only had enough to eat but they stocked up for the coming winters. The people were elated and decided to celebrate. A day was declared for offering prayers and thanksgiving by Governor Bradford. Indians were also invited in the merrymaking as everyone indulged in a three-day long festival of fun and frolic.
4. Cold Turkey

One fine morning, a few days before Thanksgiving, Bobby went to a nearby supermarket store. As he was venturing between the aisles and browsing different products, he suddenly collapsed. His condition started deteriorating when the blood started oozing from his ears and his face started turning white. The medical team arrived soon at the scene and examined the young boy. The team removed his hat, and to everyone’s surprise, there was a frozen turkey hidden inside his hat. It didn’t take much time for everyone to guess that the boy was trying to steal the frozen turkey under his hat, which numbed and chilled his brains and caused this condition. The manager was present at the scene too. Looking at the innocent and scared face of the boy, the manager decided not to take any action and he also handed over the thawed turkey to the boy. After a couple of days, the manager received a letter from Bobby that contained his apology, and he also expressed his gratitude towards the manager’s generosity. The manager had a grin on his face as he also found 15 dollars in envelop, which was the cost of the turkey that Bobby tried to steal.
5. The Story of The Ears of Wheat
This ancient German folklore talks about giving importance and value to food.
Once there lived an older woman with her granddaughter in a quaint village in Germany. She once told her granddaughter how long time ago, the wheat ears were not as scanty as they were in the present times. Rather they had more than 40 to 50 ears and the entire plant used to be flooded with wheat ears. It was a kind of blessing from God, but humans could not value it. The granddaughter asked the reason for the same. The grandmother said it happened because it was believed that once a woman and her daughter were walking along the wheat field and the daughter slipped and fell down in a puddle that spoiled her clothes. The panicked mother snatched some of the wheat ears and started cleaning her daughter’s dress with it. As the woman was cleaning her daughter, an angel happened to pass through the field and saw the entire scene. The angel was shocked to see how humans were valuing their blessings. The angel cursed and said that the wheat crops would no longer bear any ears as humans are not worthy of such blessings and riches. On learning this, all the peasants came down on their knees to ask for forgiveness, but the efforts went into vain. The peasants then urged that not for them but for the sake of innocent birds, the curse should be revoked. The angel took pity but revoked only partial curse, and thus the wheat ears became scantier than before.

9 months of my magnificent motherhood came to an end and so did my maternity break at office.
Reminiscing the transition from a happy-go-lucky woman to a responsible mum, progressing through the phases of c-section delivery, intense breastfeeding, sleepless nights, emotional outbreaks, weight gain stress, the journey had been reviving though it felt like a fish out of water oftentimes.
During the break, I always pondered over the thought of rejoining to work and weighed the pros and cons of being a working mum and a stay-at-home mum. Every time I would experience cognitive dissonance – the state of having contradictory thoughts and I would end up being in two minds.
Once and for all, I decided to resume work; for I couldn’t cherry-pick something without knowing what it was and how it would feel. After all, it was a work from home job and my baby would be at my close range.
The initial days of being a working mum were a cakewalk. But as the real work pitched in, it became a tough row to hoe alongside motherhood responsibilities.
I had an insecurity of my job skills having taken a long break in career. I was too careful to let my seniors pity/blame me. I committed to deliver work in stringent timelines in an attempt to prove that my motherhood hasn't affected my capabilities. I exaggerated my tiny mistakes and eventually deemed myself incapable at work.
Casting light on my motherhood side, I was stumbling badly clueless of ways to balance my duties. Skipping out on few motherly tasks had become a new norm. Motherly guilt soared up high and I deemed myself 'failure-as-a-mum'.
Life always teaches us the most valuable lessons in the hardest way. As time went by, I made peace with my motherly guilt and my career. To all working mum's out there, here's what I have to tell you:
Out of office for months together doesn't mean you can't cope up with the current pace. Do away with your unrevealed insecurity!
At work, commit to only what is possible. If people blame you citing your motherhood as a reason, care not!
If you have an option, choose a lighter workload. You still can roar your skills one day!
It's ok to make mistakes at work and home; for to err is human!
Get rid of your motherly guilt. Even if you are a stay-at-home mum, you will still have your own chores to do and so is your job!
Take sufficient breaks personally and professionally to revive your inner spirit. Ultimately, only if you are doing good, you can take care of everyone and everything! Read more

Ingredients
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
3 ripe bananas (mashed)
1 egg
1/3 cup plain yogurt
Cooking spray
Method
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350 degree F.
Step 2
Grease the loaf pan (9” x 5”) with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3
Microwave the chocolate chips in a medium bowl on high for about a minute or until it melts completely. Keep it aside to cool.
Step 4
Blend all purpose flour, baking soda and salt in a bowl and stir it with a whisk.
Step 5
Add sugar and butter to a large container. Blend it with a hand mixer until it forms a smooth paste. Add banana, egg and yoghurt to the mixture and blend it for about 3 - 4 minutes.
Step 6
Add flour to this mixture and blend it until the flour gets moistened.
Step 7
Add one cup of this blended batter to melted chocolate and stir well until completely blended.
Step 8
Layer the plain batter and chocolate batter alternately on the loaf pan.
Step 9
Swirl the two batters using a fork and slightly smoothen the surface.
Step 10
Bake it in oven at 350 degree F for 60 min or until a toothpick inserted into it comes out clean.
