Diet Plan for 8 Month 2 Week Old Baby
Introduction
The 8th month will consist of adding more food options to your baby’s diet plan. After the successful completion of the 7th month, week 1 of this month would require you to prepare about two food items per meal to meet the daily nourishment requirements of your baby. If the ingredients are not available, you may choose to feed just one food item but try to include more in the next meal. And, there is some good news for you - you can replace one more breastfeeding session with a healthy cooked meal. So now, your little one will have three cooked meals and about three breastfeeding sessions. These meals can include steamed, stewed and boiled ingredients with maybe a tiny bit of spice (optional). The quantity of food per meal can also be increased a little, and some cooked vegetable strips or cubes, or ripe fruit slices can be served for your child to enjoy on his own. If your baby does not consume enough meals, you can add one or two snacks as well for him.

Infection in Premature Baby - Signs, Diagnosis and Treatment
Premature babies are born with an immature immune system, which leaves them susceptible to infections, both internal and external. They may get infections from their mother or through external sources. Since their immune function is lower than term babies, it increases their chances of getting an infection.
Types of Infections That Are Common in Preemies
Premature babies are prone to several infections that may come directly from the mother or through external sources. Some of the common types of infections in preemies are blood infection or sepsis, lung infection in a premature baby that usually manifests as pneumonia, infection of the fluid around the brain or meningitis, and urinary tract infection or UTI.
Staph infection in premature babies can also be caused when the bacteria on the skin enters into the body and forms abscesses.
Why Are Premature Babies so Vulnerable?
Preemies receive a lower antibody count than term babies which contributes to their immature immune system. Since antibodies are the body’s primary defence against infections, the lack of them in preemies puts them at high risk of infection.
Also, premature babies often need intravenous lines, intubation tubes, catheters, etc., to assist with their development. These external pieces of equipment may introduce bacteria, fungi, and viruses into the baby’s system, causing infection.
Possible Signs of Infection in Preterm Baby
A preterm baby with infection may exhibit the followings signs:
Listlessness or lack of activity
Reduced or poor feedings
Body temperature fluctuations (below 36 °C or above 37.8°C)
Slow heart rate
Yellow skin (jaundice), pale skin, spots, rashes
Diarrhoea or vomiting
Poor muscle tone
Apnoea, rapid breathing
Bad odour from the infected area
Low blood pressure
Possible seizures in case of meningitis
How Is Infection in Premature Baby Diagnosed?
Fluid samples like blood, spinal fluid, or urine will be obtained to culture it in a laboratory to check for evidence of bacteria in the fluids. White blood cell count in your baby’s blood will also be measured to check if there is an unnatural change in the count. Significant increases or decreases and rise in the number of young white blood cells can indicate an infection.
How to Treat Infection in Preemies?
Your baby will be treated based on the type of infection he has contracted. Bacterial infections are treated with antibiotics. Your baby may be given more than one antibiotic as no single antibiotic can control all infections. Fungal infections may be treated with anti-fungal medications and viral infections may involve treatment with different drugs based on the type of virus, along with supportive nutrition or isolation.
Can There Be Permanent Problems From Infection?
Most bacterial infections can be effectively treated with antibiotics and pose no long-term harm to the baby. However, if your baby suffers from meningitis which is severe, he may have some permanent brain damage. Meningitis needs to be treated early to avoid serious complications. Preemies with low blood pressure issues for an extended period of time may also face some heart problems and brain damage due to lack of blood circulation to the organs.
Preemies are very delicate and a lot of care and caution is advised while handling them. Doctors will generally urge you to maintain hygiene and wash your hands before and after touching them to protect them from external infections. If you or any other members in the family have an infection, do not touch the baby until you’re clear of it.

Killing of the Sinless Girl Child - A Brutal Taboo in Our Civilised Society
Yay! I am pregnant. I am a pregnant housewife residing in the US. One can imagine the life of a pregnant lady here. It is very difficult due to lack of support system (maids). Still, this did not stop me from enjoying the bliss of my pregnancy journey. The extra care, the freedom to listen to your cravings and curb them, it was indeed a blissful time for me. At the 5th month of my pregnancy, my doctor told me that I can choose for the baby's gender disclosure. So, I and my husband were very excited about the scanning day.
Before the scanning day, it was a normal long call with my in-laws and to my surprise, they told me to pray for a son as daughters are no less than a liability to their parents. They do no good to their parents. 'Ladki kabhi ladke ki barabari nahi kar sakti. Ladka hoga toh jackpot hai', meaning that girls can never be equal to guys. This made me anxious. What if it's a girl! Then I suddenly regained my senses; I cannot be biased. It’s my own child. Who is to say girls are not equal to boys. Both are equally tremendous and do a stupendous job at their respective places. And women surely gain the first place as nothing can match their versatility as a daughter, a wife and a mother.
Then the scanning day arrived and it when the results came, it was a girl. On hearing this, the smiles of my family members vanished. Everyone at home started pointing finger at me for not having a male child! Why is a baby girl such big taboo in the society? My in-laws probably have forgotten that it was a woman who gave birth to their son. Male race is born from the female race. Isn’t it a substantial thing that the so called 'superior gender' is born from an inferior one? So now the question is, who is far more ahead - the male species or the female species? Why is it that those long hours of labour, that painful stretching of the uterus and those suicidal contractions are not paid heed to?
I, in fact, am proud to give birth to a baby girl, a warrior, a fighter and a maker of the next generation. This post is to all those mothers-in-law to stop endorsing male child and to those mums to take pride in being a mom of a baby girl.

Barbie's New Look Will Change How You See Yourself
Barbie as we knew her has changed. The perfect, impossibly proportioned doll from our childhood who set unrealistic body goals for an entire generation now looks completely different. Are you ready to see her transformation?
First, a home-truth. No matter how much we celebrate inner beauty and real women of substance, there's no denying one basic fact. How we look has always mattered to the world. In this setup, dark-skinned, curvy women with less than “perfect” skin and hair have always had a raw deal. Enter the unreal Barbie doll with a body no gym can promise to shape. For years, many moms have shied away from letting their girls play with the too-perfect-to-be-true Barbie for the fear of encouraging wrong body image notions.
Well, no more. It's a fresh year and a new start for Mattel, Barbie's parent company. They have released dolls with 3 new body types, 7 new skin tones, 18 eye colors and 18 hairstyles! This is a continuation of the new skin tones and hair textures they released last year. Our old, secretly envied acquaintance now looks like you and me. She's curvy, tall, petite - all that she never was before. We may deny that this affects us - they are only plastic dolls, after all - but hey, it does! This is a move that suggests acceptance for women who look different and have body proportions fashionistas may groan about. But we are what we are. And it's beautiful even if different, even if imperfect.
Mattel has started selling the new dolls online, which will also start appearing in retail stores later in the year. Meanwhile, we will leave you with this photo-shoot of the new Barbie dolls of 2016. New body type or no, they definitely look far more relatable than ever before.
So, which of these Barbies resembles you most closely?

A. Hello there ma’am please do not worry about it too much. But it is really very difficult to say anything without proper examination. It is advisable to get yourself evaluated by a doctor and follow doctors advise properly. You can also book online doctor’s appointment on FirstCry where the doctor can help you and guide you properly.

A. Nasal blockage is very common, specially in small children because of the narrow nasal cavity. Any kind of saline drops like nasal clear will be helpful in dissolving the stuffy secretions, which can be taken out by vnasal aspirator gently also steam inhalation will be helpful also, try to avoid keeping the child directly under the fan.
