How to Get Up from Bed during Pregnancy
Congratulations, you are pregnant! It is one of the most beautiful phases of a woman's life and we know you and your partner must be excited about this new chapter of your life. You must be curious about what your little one is going to be like, aren't you? No doubt, pregnancy is one of the best experiences of a woman's life, but it also brings with itself body pain, muscle cramps, joint pain, and several other side effects.
As your pregnancy will progress, your belly will grow and it will be quite hard for you to balance yourself. Gradually, you will even experience difficulty in doing your daily household chores and will be at a higher risk of spraining your muscles or pulling a tendon doing mundane tasks. As your pregnancy will approach the last trimester, you will also face difficulty in getting up from your bed safely without injuring yourself. But there is no need to worry thinking about it because it's common and almost all pregnant women have difficulty in getting up from the bed during pregnancy. Here we bring you some tips that will help you prepare yourself to lie down on the bed and to comfortably get up from the bed. Read these tips carefully because you'll need them in the days to come!
Steps to Get Out of Bed While Pregnant
Before you learn how to get up from a bed, you should know how to prepare yourself for bed before you lie down. Before you go to bed, choose loose, comfortable nightwear that will keep you warm enough or cool enough depending on how cold or hot the weather is. Sit on the edge of the bed and then slowly lower yourself into a sleeping position. It is best to sleep on your side when you are pregnant, especially in the latter half of the pregnancy.
Below, we share with you handy tips on how to get up from bed during early pregnancy without getting injured:
1. Roll on to Your Side Slowly If You are Lying on Your Back or Stomach
Bring your knees closer to your belly and move them to the edge of your bed. Using your arms for support, push yourself to come to a sitting position. Now swing both your legs on to the floor. You can also use a pillow in between both your legs to get up.
2. Breathe In and Breathe Out
Pregnancy causes dizziness at times, especially when you try to get up. Practising deep-breathing exercises will provide you relief and will also alleviate the back pain that you might feel after getting up.
3. Ask for Help
It is suggested that you ask for help in case you are having difficulty in getting up from the bed on your own, especially during the last term of the pregnancy.
Getting up from the bed during pregnancy can be an arduous task because your growing belly causes your centre of gravity to shift and you have trouble balancing. Do not get up in a hurry. Take your time, and get up slowly and safely from the bed.

From woman to a mother- A smooth sail or a rollercoaster ride?
My story
"When you give birth to a child, it's a re-birth of yours as well." - read it somewhere, at that time couldn't relate with it completely untill I became a mother. Yes, I am a mom of a beautiful, naughty , cute, lovely 16 month old baby girl. And yes, I have changed a lot in this 16 months. The 9 months of pregnancy were a piece of cake in my case and I thought, how hard can it be to become a mother? Obviously, I underestimated the BIG role that was waiting for me. It has been a rollercoaster ride for me. Now, we are getting in pace a little by little, but today when I look back, it's been a lot of ups and downs. Motherhood is like a mystery box, you never know what's waiting for you inside that box, until you open it. It has been same with me. I had to go for a planned C-section as I had already passed my due date and there were no signs of dialation.( Yes, that can happen which was the first unexpected event for me.) Postpartum I had diastolic hypertension which was another unexpected surprise for me! I wasn't prepared for neither of these. My daughter had colic issues and on top of that I had chicken guinea after 10 days of delivery. I was so frustrated, confused, helpless in that period. I wasn't prepared for any of these, I couldn't even think any of these in my worst nightmare, I didn't know what to do!! My hormones were taking a big toll on me, my baby needed my help, and I didn't know how can I help her. To see your baby cry all day and night is so painful. Specially when you by yourself is not healed and going through health issues. Luckily I had my husband by my side, while I completely lost myself in this transition from being a woman to a mother, he didn't loose his cool and managed all of us. He stood by me like a rock, and soothed me and our daughter so nicely during this tough period. Due to covid, we couldn't ask for any help from our relatives, so we were on our own. Now when I look back it felt like a tough patch in our journey, but at that time each day was passing like a long phase. I think that's the point, in every tough time to find that little ray of hope to hold on a bit longer. Which pushes us to fight a bit harder, to not give up so easily. In my case that ray was my husband, I know you all must also had your own ray of hope. Would be delighted to know about your RAY OF HOPE. Let me know!😀 Read more

Growing Together Love, Cherish and Share the Joy of Motherhood
Welcome back to Growing Together
In our previous post, we saw how we can take little care for ourselves before planning for a pregnancy. Today, the walk through will be basically FAQs for the ones who had witnessed the two pink lines and who are yet to witness the same. Congrats!
Key Audience – Confirm the Conception
Well, now that you are past your ovulation dates and you are eagerly waiting to skip your period, do not be in a haste to run to the medical shop to get a home pregnancy kit. ?
When Can I do a HPT?
You might have heard from your near and dear ones that you need to take the test a day or two as soon as you skip your period. True but it is not necessary to show a positive result for everyone who awaits conception.Though you are pregnant, sometimes you may not see the two pink lines when you do HPT after a day or two of missed period.
Why Dint you See?
The pregnancy will be detected by the presence of the pregnancy hormone HCG. (HCG has a complex expansion, so keeping it simple) If you do not see the two pink lines it doesn’t mean you are not pregnant, it just means your body need some ample time for the HCG to rise in order to get detected via the pregnancy test. Wait for few more days say around 7-10 and then repeat the test, definitely you will be on cloud nine.
I See a Fade Pink Line. What Does that Mean?
Ok. Do not worry, cheers. Atleast you are able to witness a fade pink line. So this also indicates the same, you need to wait for couple of days for the HCG to reach the level. The HCG amount present in your urine is minimal. When I did my HPT, yes of course I got a fade pink line, was confused if there was any problem with my pregnancy kit ?.
Waited for 4 more days and again repeated on 5th day. Was able to see the two clear pink lines.
Is There any Other Way to Confirm Pregnancy?
Yes. One way is to you can head straight to your doctor for a blood test if you are not patient enough to wait for the HCG to increase ? A blood test can confirm pregnancy even with low level of HCG.Yet another way is BBT is nothing but Basal Body Temperature which is the lowest temperature of your body when you are at rest. Hmm ok, this one going to be little tough and you need patience. First you need to get a clinical thermometer. Google says a BBT thermometer and even today I did not get something specific in the shop and not sure how it differs from a normal one ?
The thermometer I used is ‘Cipla’. It is a normal digital thermometer. It costs close to 200 bucks.
Ok lets see how should you take your BBT in order to confirm pregnancy.
How BBT Works?
If you are pregnant, the progesterone stays high due to which you will notice an increase in your body temperature. An increase doesn’t mean too high, it will be say 0.4 to 1 degree higher than your normal body temperature. Say if you have a normal body temperature of 97.5 then your BBT would be around 98 ( /-) if you are pregnant.
From When Should I Start Taking BBT?
Preferably from the day you start ovulating. Once you start ovulating, the progesterone increases, due to which the temperature of your body goes up. So until your next period, the risen temperature remains high. If no conception has taken place, the progesterone drops and hence the temperature drops just before your period. You might get your period in the next few days.
If you have skipped you period and the temperature remains high for couple of more days, it indicates that the progesterone still stays high and that you are conceived. Progesterone stays high throughout your pregnancy. I confirmed my pregnancy well with BBT itself before taking the HPT ?
Steps to Take BBT
Keep the thermometer close to your bed.
Everyday morning once you wake up, do not even get up and sit, do not put your feet on the floor, just place the thermometer under your tongue as you are in the lying position.
Note the temperature
Repeat 1, 2, 3 every morning the same time. If today you take it 5 am, tomorrow at 5 am, can be 5 or 10 mins here and there but should not be as 6 am or 7 am. Keep an alarm atleast and then take your temperature and get back to sleep ?
What is a False-Positive and False-Negative Result?
The pregnancy tests yield a positive, negative, invalid or it may be a false-positive or false-negative results.
Positive – You are pregnant
Negative – Not this time
Invalid – Test not taken correctly
False-positive – You may not be pregnant but still you may see two lines or a plus sign or whatever
False-negative – You may be pregnant but still you may not see the two lines
Once after you take HPT, you get a negative result and you doubt you still may be pregnant, thendo not hesitate, go to the doctor right away so as to avoid cases of false-positive or false-negative.
Pregnancy Test Kits
I used ‘Prega News’ and ‘Velocit’. Both were good. Prega News costs around 50 bucks and Velocit around 70 bucks.
Enjoy the little happy moments ladies until we meet next.
Happy Motherhood.
